Uncanny Dodge [Radio]! Mara is not denied her dodge bonus at the start of fights, for pretty much precisely that reason. Fortunately, that means she doesn't lose her Shield, which means she doesn't lose her Evasion. Reflex Save vs. Glacier King's Ice Breath, DC22 (1d20 + 6=22) Just barely! Evasion 2 means she escapes completely.

Wraith was growing increasingly suspicious of Summers' (admittedly not perfect) combat prowess; he didn't move like humans were supposed to. Now that he was clear of the Dark Young, at least, she didn't have to be quite as careful; she brought both bladed arms down right onto the thing, taking as much advantage from Sage's distraction as she could manage. "I do not think she would have called them off if she was aware enough to do so," the alien offered, sounding a little frustrated with how durable her dance partner was turning out to be. "She did not seem that...compromising."

Just putting a quick post in here so that it shows up on my egosearch, because that's how I track threads. Because I am the fool.

It was more than a little while before Mara thought it important to answer, as her important speaking bits were pleasantly otherwise occupied. When they did finally break apart - for air, or just a short break - she leaned back in the snow looking rather pleased with herself. went better than expected "Was going to surprise you earlier, but didn't find it in time," she said, the briefest flicker of a frown crossing her face before it got completely washed out by post-makeout mellowness. "This place, I mean. Hard to track down. But worth every hour it took."

Melee Attack Roll vs. Dark Young (whip-blades; Power Attack -5/+5, All-Out Attack +2/-2) (1d20 + 10 - 5 + 2=11) .....I reject you! HP to reroll. Because @#$% that. Melee Attack REROLL vs. Dark Young (whip-blades; Power Attack -5/+5, All-Out Attack +2/-2) (1d20 + 10 - 5 + 2=23) That'll do. DC30 Toughness for the Dark Young. If, and only if, it's still up, extra effort to SURGE: Melee Attack Roll vs. Dark Young (SURGE; whip-blades; Power Attack -5/+5, All-Out Attack +2/-2) (1d20 + 10 - 5 + 2=15)

Indira made a startled noise as Kimber hugged her, the alien's body distending in ways that very much betrayed her lack of human anatomy...or any anatomy at all, really. Once Kimber let go she looked like...well, like somebody had given a painted-over silly putty statue a big hug, her clothes and skin turning silver where it had been squashed or squeezed too far past human limits. Not that she appeared to mind in the least. She hugged Kimber back, as best as she was able, and was quick to express her approval of her friend's newfound solidity as she pulled herself back into shape. At Sharl's warnings, though, she coughed and tried to settle down a bit, discretely growing a pair of sunglasses to hide her eyes. "Right. I am sorry. I am curious, however - why are we visiting your family before...it was 'Leroj'? I can truly sympathize with the desire to see them again, but if it is as dangerous as you say...."

"Should probably note that armband won't work forever. Three days of use, maybe, before it loses charge. Could make you a more long-lasting version later, if you want." Mara pulled a cell phone - or, at least, what probably used to be a cell phone; the entire back had been removed to make room for widgets and whatnots - and dialed something, muttering some math under her breath for a moment before continuing. "But perfectly safe, or should be. Quiet. Few tourists. Besides-" The world turned inside-out again, the little room in Spain briefly becoming Mara's apartment again before there was the odd feeling of suddenly switching directions. Ellie's armband kicked to life just before they arrived, a pleasant warmth spreading out from it just in time to protect her from...the snow. Piles of it, as far as the eye could see, a pristine landscape of frost and mountains and an unusually familiar mountain pass. "- we've been here before."

[bg=#555555]"Think we interrupted the tourism for a while, anyway,"[/bg] Dragonfly agreed, sighing as she looked down at the (all things considered, really quite minimal) damage, both to the roof and to the store front across the way. She managed to get the unconscious man bound with her handy zip-ties and down to the ground shortly before the police arrived, at which point she tried not to make her girlfriend do all the talking; normally she was more than happy to let others deal with the authorities but this time it just didn't seem like it'd be...fair, maybe. She was more than happy when they had a chance to excuse themselves, though. As soon as they were back to where they'd started she let her armor go, her suit disappearing back the same way it had came until she was left in her street clothes and choker. And from that choker she - with suspicious cheer - pulled a gold-and-red-glass armband, inspecting it for a moment to make sure it was no worse for wear. "Probably going to need this," Mara said, as casually as she could manage. "You are, I mean - built one into my choker, just in case. Going to be very cold."

Initiative Roll (1d20 + 7=17) Close, but not close enough!

I agree with Rav - I have no mechanical or fluff qualms, but would prefer to see a little IC set-up before any official Lab invites go out - partly so that he just doesn't come out of nowhere, and partly to make sure that it's realistic for the other Lab members to invite him in, personality-wise.

'Gateway' had clearly drawn on more militaristic, war-machine-like designs for her cosmetic armor changes - truth be told, Mara had drawn in no small part on designs that she herself had made before she'd escaped. Her modified suit still kept to a few of her fundamental designs - the slightly bulkier gauntlets, the heavy plating - but it looked heavier, more battle-like, with red highlights and a profile broken up here or there with exposed (but no less durable-looking) tubes or cabling connecting major pieces at the joints. The helmet had been completely redone with one single, long visor-like 'eye' and a pair of communication antennae, and for a final, practical touch she'd (reluctantly) exposed the suit to some damage, giving it a number of superficial scars and dings in the metal and paint. It looked for all the world like a suit that had been stolen from some military project and piloted into a war zone. [bg=#222222]"Probably be good to know what to expect when we land,"[/bg] she agreed, frowning. The voice filter on her 'new' voice was deeper, flatter, less expressive. [bg=#222222]"Hoops to jump through. Inspection."[/bg]
-
[bg=#555555]"Enjoyed it up until sword-swinging idiots started threatening people,"[/bg] Dragonfly agreed, scowling down at the man and the sword. Little lights danced behind her eyes as she quietly linked into the nearest security system and started reviewing footage for anything that could expose their identities. [bg=#555555]"Didn't expect this in a tourist city. Sort of wonder what his problem was. Suppose the police can take care of it?"[/bg] The armored heroine tapped a finger against her leg in thought for a moment, and then shook her head. [bg=#555555]"Do have a backup vacation spot. Or two. Since this didn't really work out. Can still get some use out of the teleporter."[/bg]

Indira found the tingling distinctly unpleasant as her body and the suit tried to find some middle-ground for interfacing, but that thankfully faded away as she appeared a few feet away from Sharl, blinking at the strangeness of her surroundings while her mind adjusted...and then blinking at the strangeness of her adjusted surroundings. She leaned her head back as far as she could without breaking the rules of humanoid anatomy, blinking up at the looming buildings. "....I think I now understand why they are called 'skyscrapers'," the alien mused, with the appropriate level of appreciation. "Though it is a very strange contrast. We build a great deal underground; humans seem to enjoy building up. Now I feel that, here, you have built up so high we are underground."

hah! - go Ellie - see how he likes that Dragonfly grinned to herself, the Sword of Santiago's discomfort apparent even from back where she was standing. And if his system was taking nearly as hard a hit as it looked like.... Her suit's wings flared to life, four long blades of twisted space and light that didn't quite touch the small nodes built into the back of her suit. It was a matter of seconds to take off and shoot straight toward the swordsman, but that was all the time it took for the plates on her right gauntlet to flex outward, something deep in the inner workings of the suit rearranging and linking the armor plating directly to its rather potent power source. Neon-tinged electricity was already crackling between her fingers as she arrived - the only warning he got before her hand touched his torso and a decidedly unhealthy amount of energy decided the guy in chainmail might make a nice path to ground.

Just can't pass up that low Fort save! Dragonfly takes to the air. Melee Attack Roll vs. SoS (taser hand) (1d20 + 10=26) DC20 Fort save for SoS (fail, daze; fail 5+, stun; fail 10+, unconscious).
-
that's not good - not sure I've seen anyone just shrug off - does it have a name? - hand of doom? - doom hand - would normally fly - probably better to distract him "<Surprisingly durable. Will give you that. Not convinced you're very smart, though.>" Dragonfly had wasted no time in building a nice big distortion as soon as she saw the sword-wielding maniac rush Jill's way, and she was happy - more than happy, considering his target - to send it clawing through the air after him, right toward his back. "<Shouldn't turn away from threats. Fighting 101.>"

I'm a jerk, and somehow got it into my head that this thread was waiting on SoS! I have no idea why - so sorry about that. Ranged Attack Roll vs. SoS (blast; Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 10 - 2=16) With the -2 def from the charge, I...think that hits him. DC27 Toughness save.

Summers getting snatched up by the Dark Young was pretty much one crack to the soft human skull short of exactly what Wraith had been trying to avoid, and she made that awful metallic rattling noise deep inside her body as she advanced on the creature, arms lengthening as her scythes swept in a swift, shifting pattern around her body, tethered only by the two tendrils that used to be her arms. The dance-like motions of the twin blades was probably less appreciated by the Dark Young itself, given that every swing was aimed at its body.

"It would not be...." Indira trailed off, furrowing her brow as she mulled things over. As cold and angry as she was over what had been done here, the prospect of just killing the villain at hand just didn't seem.... "It is not right," she said, finally, shaking her head. "We must find her, make her regret what she has done. But death is excessive for the...the crime; killing without...without a chance to fight - you would say 'execution'? - even more so. And Koshiro's point is a very good one; even for Sharl, a simulation like this one must be very complex. To find a single invading being - perhaps of his own level of skill - in such a creation is unlikely to be any easier than going in and entering the simulation ourselves." "Besides," she added, eyes filling up with black for a moment before returning to their more 'natural' brown. "I am filled with an urge to punch something. I wish to express this urge."

[bg=#555555]"Am...sure we can arrange something,"[/bg] Dragonfly confirmed, tilting her head. too used to socializing with people who know my secrets - most of my secrets - a few of my secrets? - nevermind - should remember that though - avoid the deception - speaking of which [bg=#555555]"Probably best if you do most of the talking, when possible,"[/bg] she added, in the even, 'used to it' kind of voice someone might use to ask their taller friend to get something down off of a high shelf. She was, if nothing else, quite aware of her own limitations. [bg=#555555]"Not a very good liar. Suit helps - full helmet - best to not push our luck. Especially before we know what we're dealing with. Like the unaffiliated idea, though. Simple. Clean. Less to remember, easy to explain."[/bg]

Move Action: Elongate, boosting her melee range by 5ft. Why not? Standard Action: Melee Attack Roll vs. Dark Young 1 (whip-blades; Power Attack -5/+5 (1d20 + 10 - 5=13) That should just BARELY hit, if it's flat-footed; DC30 toughness save. IC post pending results; going to have to debate surging if it does well enough on the save.

[bg=#555555]"Makes sense,"[/bg] Mara - Dragonfly - sent back, taking a moment to adjust to the shifting storm before streaking off after Ironclad, light from her four, blade-like wings coloring the falling snow. shouldn't have bothered worrying about being seen - storm's worse than I thought - no visibility? - cuts both ways - should use infravision where possible [bg=#555555]"Quiet, less populated, further from response centers. Harder to pull this off in downtown. Not that it stops some villains. What do you think: hidden base, or obvious, stupid snow machine?"[/bg]

Wraith was still largely hunched up and quadrupedal from fleeing the blaze. She was still turned back to watch it burn, flames faintly reflected in everything but her solid black eyes. "I do not sleep, and see well in darkness," the alien finally supplied, turning back to the others. She raised one clawed foreleg, critically inspecting the one bit of real damage the bugs had managed to surprise her with before being driven away. "My injuries are not serious. I will heal, though if we happen across some metal, I would appreciate the...I believe the word is 'snack'." She paused for a moment before adding, "....while it is good to cover our tracks, it may be best to not heavily damage an ecosystem to do so, in the future, perhaps?"

Wraith had made her way over to the suits once they were pointed out, peering at one of them (and, indeed, in one of them, her head disappearing down the neck of the suit as she somewhat doubtfully hummed to herself. "I do not think I know your Miss A - I think I have seen her on the television sometimes? - but I do not think these were designed for my biology." The alien had pulled her head back out to speak (though, mostly because speaking out of places that weren't her head seemed to bother people), but after a moment's thoughtful humming she put it, and the rest of her body, back into the suit, filling it out and changing to her more normal female guise. "I...am told that my human form has a fair approximation of the human nervous system?" She adjusted the suit a little, shifting it across her more solid human frame. "I do not know if it will be enough, but I am willing to try it, mortal threat or not."
