The building had been significantly improved since Erin had been by for her own interview; even in the space of just a few days much of the remaining construction work had been finished, and while the lobby visible behind the front doors was lacking in a number of final touches it at least also lacked the large spools of heavy electrical cables and window panes. It also didn't lack for security, it seemed: right in the middle of the lobby stood a tall, heavy steel drone, legs each arching up as tall and broad as Murdock himself before hitting a joint and arching back down to connect to a heavy, oblong body. A single red eye on a jointed neck turned to focus on the new visitor as soon as the buzzer sounded, something behind its lens spinning and clicking as it unmistakably - if very machine-like - sized him up. Whatever it thought (to the extent that it was capable of thinking; it moved and acted more like a giant robotic insect than a thinking, living thing), it eventually settled back a little and a light blinked on its body. The door unlocked with a distinct click.

"I am not the best history student," Indira admitted, glancing around the crowd for a moment and wishing she was a little bit taller - not that she was very short for this planet, or so she understood. But still. "But I think the word is 'European'. My impression is not so much that they thought Indians were living in the Americas, but that they did not know the Americas were here and thought they had reached India by going all the way around the planet." She thought on that for a moment, and frowned. "I do not know why they thought that, however - it seems as if the differences should have been more obvious, and the journey not so fast. I do not think I would go hunting with someone with such a poor sense of location."

All other things being equal, Wraith would have much preferred clinging to the side of the buildings, scaling walls and jumping roofs to maintain a bird's eye view of the proceedings - both the parade and the possible villain threats. Orders were orders, though, so instead she mingled with the hard-bodied humans, slipping through the crowd with quiet, predatory grace. There probably weren't that many ways to subtly scale the sides of buildings with a crowd nearby, anyway. Every once in a while her eyes would go pitch black between blinks, or she'd turn her head like she'd smelled something interesting, but mostly she wandered and watched.

[bg=#555555]"Logistical problems of organizing EMP creation on that scale, possible side-effects of setting off EMP devices near populated areas - even directed ones, problem of freely-available world-wide nanite technology. Damaged, but...."[/bg] Dragonfly threw on the 'anything I missed' pile, tapping a finger against her leg. [bg=#555555]"Still. Best option by far."[/bg] [bg=#555555]"Have...doubts about 'preserving' the Gorgon. Three, at least. One: risky to bring them back up, if even possible after hitting them with strong EMP. Relies on assumptions of our ability to reprogram or direct them over very large scale, and being better at it than Gorgon. Two: effectiveness is questionable without knowing how Gorgon and materials in Gorgon would react to nanites; nanites may not be capable of 'preserving' it anyway, and could look for other targets. So, three: puts Gorgon-dwellers at certain risk. Best case, nanites devour Gorgon and may leave them stranded or trapped. Slow death, or high strain on Earth if we try to take them in. Worst case, nanites devour Gorgon and them, or just them, and we kill a planet of people."[/bg]

Wraith's eyes weren't so much eyes anymore as they were saucers, three wide near-circles on her face as the rest of her just...slumped for a minute, deflated and staring up at the stars she couldn't really see through the atmosphere and the starlight-drowning civilization. She dropped Blackstar's leg, her cockiness all but robbed by Sharl's revelation. Beating the Star Knight traitor had been an awfully big thing a few minutes ago.... "T...the is coming here? It...Earth has its atten...." She shook her head, drawing herself back up and forcing her eyes back to a more normal size. Her voice was a little more controlled, but still colored with the sort of caution one usually saves for incoming storms. ". It is the Lor's name -" - she still had to ask Sharl about that - "- it is....I do not remember your word. I think the translation is something like...Archiver? No...it is less documents and more...specimens and curiosities, like a museum. You would say...Curator, I think? I believe that was in the briefing when we came here, I did not really pay attention. If he is turning his gaze to Earth, we will need a great deal of help."

Wraith blinked her three black eyes, watching the scene play out in silence. She was pretty sure a robot's neck was stronger than a human's, but she'd never really been one for the inner workings of machines (they worked, and that was really all she ever needed to know), so she didn't press the point; instead she glanced at what was left of the Stratos-bot and then down at Blackstar, who she'd been rather unceremoniously dragging around, figuring it was best not to leave even an unconscious villain alone in the middle of the building. "....help for what?" she asked, blinking again. She could tell Sharl was upset by something, but she felt like she was missing a critical piece to a jigsaw puzzle (or, at least, the Kinigosi equivalent to a jigsaw puzzle). "Hiroshima has fled, Stratos was...not here, it seems, but his impersonator was beheaded, and Rojan Lhar is unconscious. We were fortunate to not encounter all our enemies at once, but I do not think any are left?"

Wraith has no Knowledge (Technology), so it'd be an untrained check - can't make DC20 knowledge checks untrained.

Wraith glanced up toward the roof, dipping her head in a bit of a frown. "I...do not know how old he would be. If this is a common event in Freedom City, I really do think I will have to learn more about your-" She turned her attention back to Blackstar, the frown turning into a scowl, three black eyes narrowing at his mostly-unseen struggles. "Stop that - I am fairly certain that I am stronger than you are. If you do not remain still I will be forced to--" She sighed, cut off by him apparently not stopping, and shifting a bit of her mass to the floor so that she could pick the rest of him up, turn him upside-down, and thump him head-first against the ground. And then a couple more times for good measure. Silvery metal unwrapped the unconscious villain and she pulled herself back into a more bipedal form, though she still had a few extra tendrils coming down off her upper back. "I think that that will take practice; I did not want to damage the floor."

Wraith is going to go ahead and coup de grace Blackstar, now that I remember that maintaining a grapple is a free action. DC15 (base) + 5 (damage bonus in grapple form) + 5 (coup de grace 'crit') = DC25, with a DC15 Fort save, if it matters. Mind, she's basically just gonna keep doing that every round (for all that we're not in rounds) until he's KOed or finds a way to escape, so.

Powered lab? Unpowered lab? We are confuse! Dragonfly (temporarily?) sacrifices her start-of-thread invention to either supply power or increase already-taken-care-of power, to quell the confusion and keep the thread moving with minimal fuss.

[bg=#555555]"Not going anywhere near reactors with you,"[/bg] Dragonfly dryly replied as she looked around. [bg=#555555]"Power's mostly up, anyway. Not inclined to split up, even if you want more power...might be a good idea, I suppose. Mmh, fast solution....[/bg] The engineer was significantly less excited to be here than her friend Ironclad was, largely because she remembered the circumstances of the last time she was on an ArcheTech installation, and what she'd done there. Building what was functionally an orbital death ray wasn't one of her proudest moments....but it did give her a decent level of insight into how Archeville wired his systems. It took her just a few minutes (and a couple chunks of wall) to find the right cables, after which the part of her armor that deployed her wings opened up to allow her to unceremoniously pull out an oddly-glowing device and wire it straight into the lab. It might have been small, but it was potent, and the difference in available power was noticeable. [bg=#555555]"No more stealth field until I put entropy driver back. Saves us time, though."[/bg]

Mara nodded, pushing herself up off the spool and dusting plaster dust off the back of her pants and jacket. "Eight am works. Will probably get in later most days, but first day...should probably be on time. Phrase....'can sleep when I'm dead'?" She shrugged, putting her hands in her pockets and glancing around. "Should check on drones before I leave...make sure they aren't doing things they shouldn't. Are doing things they should. Usual drone problems. Will send you paperwork...think you have my e-mail address in case you need to reach me?"

Wraith watched as her teammates sent Hiroshima Shadow packing, running off to get someone called 'Stratos'. She wasn't really sure who that was, and she wasn't really sure she cared, as long as he wasn't any worse than Shadow and Blackstar were. Well, just Blackstar, now. Wraith turned her head back to face him, her three eyes looking particularly...predatory. Her body shifted, arms losing their bulk and clubbed design as she stretched, flowing and lengthening and growing entirely new limbs as even those flowed and lengthened, a mass of strong, solid, silvery tendrils reaching and coiling all around the dark villain, locking him down in a terrible metal embrace. "I think we have had quite enough of what you are giving out, thank you. Please do not make me squeeze. I am not entirely sure how strong the bones of hardbodied children are."

Wraith Shapeshifts to 'give us a hug' setting. Her grapple bonus is now 10 (melee attack bonus) + 5 (str bonus) + 3 (additional limbs) + 3 (elongation) + 2 (super-strength), for a total of +23. Standard Action: EDIT: Whoops! Forgot the attack roll. Ah-heh. Melee Attack Roll vs. Blackstar (to grapple) (1d20 + 10=21) That'll do! END EDIT HUUUUUUUUGS (1d20 + 23=27) Aww. Still, how many HP does she have left at the moment? Like 3? Let's go ahead and spend one, since you say the fight's gone on long enough! HUUUUUUUUGS REROLL (1d20 + 23=32) That's a roll of 9, so +10 is 42. IC post pending, though I think he's actually incapable of NOT getting bound helpless, unless you're using a fancier version of his sheet than what's in the book.

This character doesn't meet attack caps, but I'm assuming you knew that already. Knowledge (Arcane Lore) should be +21, not +20, as the int modifier on this character is +3. Typo in the first array, base power: 'Continnus'. It's also missing a rank (should be 39, I think). I very much doubt you can apply the Progression feat to Illusion to boost the DC, as the DC is directly dependent on the power rank. Formatting's kinda weird on the second array. Also, a rank 19 array would get you 38pp to play with, not 36pp, and would cost 40pp once you add in the Alternate Power feats (though your powers would still be over-budget; see below). The first power in the second array costs 51pp, not 36. Alternate Save on a power that normally has a Toughness save is a +1 Extra. Also, I think what you wanted there was "Feats: Improved Range 3 (100' increments)". The second power, similarly, costs 51pp, not 36. The third power, same deal. 51pp as written. What's the fluff on a targeted area dazzle? That's a very odd concept, and I'm having a hard time visualizing it (though I'm awfully, awfully tired, so....) Assuming you meant rank 18 instead of rank 19 on that last array, the actual final tally works out, but the second array is way over-budget. You'll have to either put more points into that array or slim it way, way down. The rest of the math works, though.

"Yes." It wasn't so much a regret or admission as it was a basic stated fact, like she was saying what color the sky happened to be that day. She shifted a little, and shrugged, moving to tug her suit jacket back into place before giving up and just undoing the buttons holding it closed. "But it's my job. I chose it. Built it. It's mine. Life isn't easy, anyway - never is, probably shouldn't be. Have to...phrase...'square shoulders' and keep going. Pick fights, deal with fights that pick you. Other options suck."
-
Mara shook her head. "No." Mara nodded her head. "Yes. I mean - will have them before hiring. Try - I try to have final say in employees, and will save you trouble of weeding out obviously bad applicants, but will be letting you do more final selection than I do. Will follow the process, of course, but will be your team, not mine. Important to me that they do their job well, but think you will make sure of that, so actual people filling the teams...up to you. Will pass along files as I get them for your review, might make suggestions, but actual hiring - your call."
-
"Don't trust them," Mara replied, flatly. "Always find a way to go wrong. Can supply you anything else you need, though. Combat drones, supplies, will probably arrange a low-power holographic projector for maps or modelling, could be used to create targets for target practice. Will have a couple heavily-armored rooms to use, too - mostly soundproof, good for training in. But no full simulators. Asking for trouble."
-
Mara raised an eyebrow, looking up at Erin with vague amusement. "'Medical stuff,' mmh. Could probably build you a nullifier...for doctor visits. Or whatever." "Training," she continued, switching tracks as some other part of her thoughts got control of her mouth, "will leave up to you. Not used to working in teams, anyway - another reason to hire somebody - you - for the job. Will probably have hands full training scientists, engineers. Small teams, but will probably have to know a little of a lot. Have too many other things to spend personal time on, would ideally only personally do projects that were interesting, or that they couldn't."
-
Mara'd be okay with it. She really dislikes Archeville now, but she has to admit his science is top-notch, so any installation he had should be quality.

Mara nodded, pondering. "Have to prepare as best we can. Deal with what we didn't prepare for. Or what we did, when preparations are insufficient. Psychic field....very hard. Not completely impossible, but much harder, and harder to test. Still. Doable. Some existing work I could build off, mine and other people's. Maybe convince someone to let me play with law enforcement power repressors - technical term? 'Power dampeners'? Harder to generalize to a field, but would be a start. Will see what I can do." "Small staff is a concern, too. Don't need more than that most of time...sorry, the time....but would be good to have more on demand. Will also consider drones. Would have to be relatively small to supply in force, but may at least buy time or help with evacuations."
-
"Mmh." Mara frowned, hunching a little as she considered that. "....wasn't in original plans. Haven't run into many teleporters. Probably within his means, though. Will think about it - not a bad idea. And not too hard to do; might take a few days to build, but worth investment. Good idea." She tapped her finger against the spool, mind assembling, revising, and disassembling plans for an anti-teleportation field. "Other noticeable security weaknesses? Good to think of them before we open. Get things installed, updated."
