    Game On! (IC)

Dragonfly shook her hand, scowling; the plates on her gauntlet flexed a bit to help vent the heat that had built up underneath them. [bg=#555555]"Dragon was easier to beat than that,"[/bg] she grumped, looking down at the slightly pitted floor she'd been firing at for the last...she didn't even know. A while. Still, it had retreated, and would presumably have to take some time to lick its wounds. As much as she hated to admit it, the princess' safety came first. [bg=#555555]"Mmh. Hold on,"[/bg] she instructed. Plates snapped back into place as she shifted the princess to hold her with both arms and she took off through the conveniently-broken window, sweeping up into the air and back toward the girl's father as fast as she figured she could safely manage with unprotected cargo.

The full helmet spared the princess much rolling of eyes, though it couldn't keep some exasperation out of Dragonfly's voice. [bg=#555555]"Nothing useful, then."[/bg] She didn't let up on the attack, continuing to let distortions rain down on her undead foe...though the gauntlet she was using for said distortions was starting to steam a little, and she was starting to wonder if the vampire just had some measure of true, honest-to-goodness immortality. She really hoped not. [bg=#555555]"Know where it gets 'resealed'? Assuming it can't be rising up too often. Would probably get better information if it was. Castle would be in better shape."[/bg]

Ranged Attack Roll vs. Vampire (blast; Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 10 - 2=12) Oh for the love of....y'know, I'm not even going to reroll that. I'm going to give the vampire some minuscule chance to escape from its endless chain of stuns. For variety, if nothing else. Though, considering he's flat-footed and has an additional -2 on his defense from the stun, there's some minor possibility it hits. DC27, if it does.
  4. Mostly hidden behind the cloth that covered half his face, Gaian Knight set his jaw as he looked out over the enemies still standing. Well, flying, really. Still. I'm clearly not going to hit them with rocks, and the big meaty one's down. Heh - it's a shame mythology's just mythology - there are some gemstones that....hmm. "Did you know," he began, betraying his professor nature as he turned to regard the ghost that looked...hurt? In as much as spectral entities could, anyway, "that almost every precious stone and a lot of the ones that aren't have all kinds of mythology surrounding them?" From all around, seemingly always from outside an onlooker's point of view, shards of polished-looking red and green stone started coming together into a small cloud at the end of one of his hands. It almost seemed to grow of its own accord, bits and pieces appearing from behind other bits and pieces as they moved and swarmed. "Take jasper. A lot of folks back in the day thought it could repel evil spirits," he continued, regarding the little cloud with fond curiosity...before directing it like an angry stream of gunfire into his one-ghost audience. "Maybe they knew something modern people forgot."
  5. Well, in the interests of not having GK sit on his hands for the fight (and in the interests of moving things along!), let's push his descriptors a bit. Yay, magic! Extra-effort stunt, based on the mythology of Jasper, said to drive away evil spirits: Blast 12 (Extras: Autofire 2 [+1 per 1 over DC, max +5], Flaws: Limited [spirits], Feats: Affects Insubstantial 2, Variable Descriptor [bludgeoning, Piercing, Slashing]) [39/40pp] GK spends an HP to waive his fatigue. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Ghost 3 (stunted autofire blast; Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 12 - 2=14) If I recall, ghosts have +4 defense when flat-footed; a stunned ghost should have +2. 14-2= 2. DC27 (base) + 2 (power attack) + 2 (autofire bonus) = DC31 Toughness save for Ghost 3.

Tilting her head, Dragonfly actually stopped to consider that one for a moment. [bg=#555555]"Probably could kill mountains or sky,"[/bg] she pondered aloud. [bg=#555555]"Mountain isn't tough, just big. Sky...atmospheric burn, maybe? Tricky, but possible. Sea's harder. Too big. Definition of 'kill'...easy enough to make it uninhabitable. Not that I would. But not as impossible as you're thinking."[/bg] She shook her head, raining another distortion or two down on the vampire in the hopes of shutting him up. [bg=#555555]"Princess. Probably know more about vampires than I do - not as many undead or dragons where I come from. Thoughts on permanent solutions? Prefer not to kill, but don't want him re-kidnapping you when I leave. Kind of pointless."[/bg]

  8. Dragonfly will almost certainly be spending all her turns holding the portal open until people are clear or it closes on its own, so I don't mind her getting skipped to move the thread along at a better pace.
  9. "Convenient," Mara complimented, raising her eyebrows as the floor rearranged itself. "Automated. Well-hidden. Relatively quiet. Very nice. Ladies' poker night...." The corner of her mouth quirked into the ghost of an amused smile, and she shook her head. "Not really a lady. You, I mean. Vince. Suspect you have 'eyes' everywhere, anyway. Would be cheating." She put her hands in her pockets, rocking back on her heels a little to look at Ellie. "Talk about me a lot, mmh?" she asked, sounding secretly (or rather, with her somewhat poor ability to hide her mood, not-so-secretly) pleased.

[bg=#555555]"Heroine,"[/bg] Dragonfly stressed, frowning. She took a moment to build up a distortion, this time, unleashing the charged spatial shockwave straight down into the vampire. Without, it seemed, as great an effect as she'd hoped for. She swore in Russian. [bg=#555555]"Working on it. Undead are...resilient. Kiss - what? No. Don't think my girlfriend would...appreciate it. Just want to stop the vampire, get you home, figure out how to get me home. Maybe tie the person who brought me here into a pretzel. If possible."[/bg]

Ranged Attack Roll vs. Vampire (blast; Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 10 - 2=28) Even Invisible Castle doesn't want a repeat of the dragon fight! I'll spare us and just go for the straight DC bonus. DC25 (base) + 2 (power attack) + 5 (crit) = DC32 Toughness.

Another couple blasts followed the first into the vampire's prone form, and Dragonfly was saved from trying to pinch the bridge of her nose only by having no hands free. and helmet in the way - annoying - probably shouldn't lift the faceplates around enemies [bg=#555555]"Vampire's castle. Dragonfly. Probably dead,"[/bg] the heroine replied, shifting her grip a little. [bg=#555555]"Not all dead. Some still back with your father. Vampire wanted your blood - got into your head, bit you. Should probably get that checked later. Don't know how vampirism works, but you seem okay. Except for the screaming."[/bg]

Dragonfly winced, jerking her head away from the screaming princess. thought princesses were supposed to be composed - almost better when she was dead weight - suppose father wouldn't like it if she came back gagged and handcuffed [bg=#555555]"Stop screaming,"[/bg] she less asked than ordered, grimacing. Her blade disappeared, unfurling back into nonexistence as she rained a rippling distortion or two down on the howling revenant. [bg=#555555]"Don't struggle, either. Don't want to drop you fifty feet. Much harder to protect you if I put you down, anyway."[/bg]

  16. September, you say? Yeah, I could get Dragonfly in on this. For science!
  17. Mara blinked at the television, tilting her head as Vince introduced himself. "Hello, Vince." Lights danced behind her eyes, but she didn't do any more than poke at the television to make sure that it was...well, a television, and not Vince's actual 'home'. "Mara. I am, I mean - suppose you knew that. Mmh - choker, yes. I'm...glad you like it." She touched it, looking a little pleased with herself, and a little bit of light ran down the seams and detailing. "Was difficult to make. Small. But wanted something easier and less...noticeable than carrying around gauntlets everywhere I go." She glanced to make sure she wasn't too obvious through any windows, and held her motorcycle helmet up; it twisted in on itself and disappeared. "Convenient, too."

    Player Away Thread

Due to things (good things!) I may be kinda busy for the next three or four weeks; I'll almost certainly be around, but may be around slightly less now and again. So if I go missing for a day or two, that's why, and apologies in advance.
  19. Mara blushed, ducking her head a little but not dwelling too much on her lateness. She kicked the kickstand down and dismounted, stretching a little after the drive and letting her helmet dangle from one hand as she followed Ellie into the brownstone. "Will probably need to change. Have exercise clothes with me, but...not good for motorcycles. Too much exposed skin." She frowned for a moment, touching the heavy metal choker that rested at the base of her neck and making sure - for about the tenth time since leaving her warehouse - that she had, in fact, remembered to bring her clothes. "Mmh. How are you?"

[bg=#555555]"You...are...annoying,"[/bg] Dragonfly growled, trying to balance the princess in one arm and attack and defense with the other; easier said than done, but doable, apparently. She just wasn't sure for how long. The moment she thought she had an opening the heroine brought her sword back online, the blade barely finishing twisting into being before she swiped at the vampire's torso with it. [bg=#555555]"Both of you. You are not helpful. You should go...not sure. Back to sleep? Buried in your coffin, stake through heart...don't know the mythology. Still. Go away. Stay gone."[/bg]

Melee Attack Roll vs. Vampire (sword) (1d20 + 10 =22) Not sure if that hits; probably, unless the vampire's pretty defense-shifted. DC25 Toughness.
  22. Dragonfly just stood there for a moment, frowning at the ship. probably a bad idea to leave it here - Farsider problem? - not really - don't know them - can't trust them - no data - size x height x width - approximate volume - assumed materials - unknown metals - weight? She was, apparently, giving only half an ear to Dark Star's insistence that they leave immediately; instead, for no apparent reason, she picked up a piece of damaged hull and dropped it, watching the metal fall like it was terribly fascinating. speed - moon gravity? - a = -[G ( M + m ) ] / r2 - M = [ (-ar2)/G ] - M, convert for earth gravity = ~200 tons - mass estimate a little too large She bowed her head, frowning, before jerking it back up and snapping her fingers. A few choice bits of salvage she'd taken from the cockpit twisted back into reality, and a half-dozen tools deployed from her gauntlets to fuse them (and some parts she'd apparently just had with her) into...something. That something, in all its exposed wire and glass glory, got placed very carefully on the floor in the center of the ship before its creator made her way out of the ship. There was a pause, and she poked her head back through the entryway. [bg=#555555]"Probably don't want to be inside the ship for this."[/bg] The moment everyone was clear she put both hands against the side of the craft. As lines like wrinkles in paper spread outward and across its bulk, they were met by matching lines coming from inside (though whatever she'd built and put down in there was whining in protest as it worked), and the moment the two touched the entire craft began folding in on itself in ways the human eye really wasn't designed to look at comfortably. It took a few moments, but before long the entire thing had vanished, warping and twisting away into nothing and leaving a remarkably-preserved transport-shaped indentation in the lunar ground.
  23. Dragonfly's not so sure about leaving an omega ship just sitting around on the moon! What if the toast king found it? That'd be terrible. Consulted AA: the ship would need 200tons of storage and a DC20 power check to safely pocket. She can't do that on her own, of course, but she just so happens to have these shiny new parts and ideas.... With AA's permission, the plan: Extra-effort stunt the following: Dimensional Pocket 10 (Flaws: Action 1 [standard/Full], Feats: Progression 3 [1,000,000lbs / 500tons]) (13/20pp) Ought to be enough to hold the ship, and then some. Dragonfly currently has 2-3 HP, so that's at least one to waive the fatigue, and at least one to ensure she can't fail the power check, if necessary. EDIT: Got the go-ahead. Power Check, DC20 (Dimensional Pocket) (1d20 + 10=14) Bah. HP Reroll, which I won't bother putting up because she can't possibly fail. Dragonfly's down to 0 or 1 HP (depending on whether or not her most recent edits count for this thread).
  24. Mara was late; she hated being late. She wasn't even running that far behind - a few minutes, at the most - but the idea that people were waiting on her just grated on every nerve she had. For her tastes it was too much time lost to traffic (flying through the air wasn't terribly subtle, and this wasn't a professional visit), and too much time lost to second-guessing what to wear (not that she'd ever, ever admit it to anybody but Ellie). As she pulled her motorcycle up to the brownstone she was idly considering the pros and cons of installing a teleporter in the area. or a network - city-wide? - convenient - not subtle - could be subtle - power requirements - might attract attention - probably not worth it - still - tempting She killed the engine and pulled off her helmet, running a hand through her hair to slightly-un-dishevel it. "Ellie! Late, sorry. Traffic...mostly."

Dragonfly had thrown up a hand as the vampire charged, bringing her large, circular shield into being just in time to watch - with some grim amusement - as the vampire glanced off it and through the window he'd just tried to put the princess through. karma? [bg=#555555]"Think you deserved that,"[/bg] she dryly noted, collapsing the shield into a twisting blast that was sent right after the undead fiend. Apparent incompetence or not, the heroine backed away from the windows, flying further back into the room where she didn't have to worry about enemies bursting in to grab her through glasswork. [bg=#555555]"Realize you're true to genre,"[/bg] she conversationally addressed the princess (for all that she clearly couldn't hear her), [bg=#555555]"but would honestly prefer you were more useful. Could throw a blade, or shoot holy arrows, or something."[/bg]
