She just kind of hung there in the air for a moment, wings occasionally readjusting by a fraction of an inch to account for wind (or unseen effects of whatever was holding her up), trying to figure out how exactly one responded to accusations of spectrehood. She sort of regretted not playing more fantasy games, to be honest. wouldn't understand the truth - don't want to be seen as an evil creature - would lose any leads I could get here - approximate? [bg=#555555]"I am...the...great wizard Dragonfly,"[/bg] she began, though her voice was a little more droll than impressive or resounding. [bg=#555555]"Brought to this land from another by...great magics, and seeking a way home. Mean you no harm; arrived here by chance. First major settlement I saw."[/bg] that wasn't on fire [bg=#555555]"Would appreciate information on where I am, at least."[/bg]

Gaian Knight was partway through putting his sword back on his belt, but as the conversation between Jill and Stesha sunk into his brain he slowed, then stopped, then turned to look at her with incredulity and concern that even his goggles and cloth couldn't hide. She came down here in labor? What in the world- no. Come on, Tarrant; now's not the time to be the sitcom guy. Thank goodness I've been stowing anchor stones where they seem like they'd be useful.... He stepped forward to offer Stesha a hand onto the bee, incredulity replaced with a business-like determination. "If we can get ourselves away from the prison's safeguards, I can get us all back into the city proper right away. Then it's hopefully just a short hop to your hospital of choice - do you have a hospital of choice? - but I'm afraid I don't know where to look for Derrick."

Initiative Roll (1d20 + 7=17) Dragonfly apparently spends the first part of the round trying to figure out how a guy with +3 INT fit maximum-possible, better-than-world-class security on something the size of a cell phone, heh.
-
No idea what the actual DC would be, sooo we'll just roll and say whatever. Dragonfly intends to neuter the device - make it useless for its intended use. I'd be more specific, but can only make a tentative assumption about what it does and what she'd find when she links to it. Soooo time for some blind rolls. Computers Check (1d20 + 15=18) Eh, this is worth a hero point! Computers Check REROLL (1d20 + 15=18) Huh. How 'bout them odds. Still, on a reroll that's 28, and at 100x speed. It should do, though please let me know if it doesn't and I'll have her change tactics.

Dragonfly - who'd been watching with a raised eyebrow and curious interest - glanced to Ellie and shrugged. She'd been wondering whether it was worth waiting to see what the man had to say, to be honest, but her girlfriend probably had the better idea. Her fellow heroes could probably handle a gun, no matter how high-tech, without too much trouble, but the other device...hmm, the other device. She settled forward in her chair, tilting her head as lights behind her eyes. hello there, she idly thought at it as she wormed her mind into the electronics. won't hurt a bit - now what are you - interesting - probably wasted on your current owner - most things probably would be - bad first impression? - doesn't matter - mine now
-
Dragonfly made her way toward the estate, trying to make good time without spooking the guards. not that they could hurt me - probably? - probably not a reassuring sight anyway - flying woman in a metal suit - would be hard to explain - magic? - wish I knew more mythology She pulled up short within sight and speaking distance, but hopefully far enough away that they wouldn't be able to panic and attack her shy of throwing a polearm at her head. [bg=#555555]"...hello. Would be helpful if you spoke English. ...modern English, maybe.

Dragonfly panted, looking down at the dragon in its unconscious heap. She wanted to gloat, she wanted to crow, and she wanted to go take a nap and a shower (and do some repair work)...but a quick glance in the direction of the village gave her pause. She bit her lip, fidgeting for a moment. Finally she sighed, making a frustrated strangling motion with her hands as she flew down to save the stupid creature. And barely, at that: as she put her hands (very very carefully) on the dragon's side and started to fold him away, the process was slow and uneven; her suit had some very ominous things to say about how much mass her dimensional pocket was actually capable of holding. Still, pushed to its limits or not, eventually the dragon disappeared and Dragonfly took to the air again, trying to figure out her next move.

For about the twentieth time since the fight began with the angel's stabbing, Gaian Knight wished he could just reach out and hit this punk with a rock. A big one. Maybe a boulder. But, lacking a boulder and not particularly wanting to impale the guy he opted to leave tasering to people who seemed to be much better at it, swinging his sword and sheath into the man's stomach as hard as he could. At least this piece of metal is being good for something, for once. And good job, Robot Bee. Cover for the people who need it - your cousins would be proud.

Coming to theaters near you: Swordclub 2: Son of Swordclub Melee Attack Roll vs. Bad Guy (swordclub) (1d20 + 8=13) No. We are now on a deadline! Plus, y'know, shiny new HP. Can't keep that around to spend, that'd be crazy. Melee Attack REROLL vs. Bad Guy (swordclub) (1d20 + 8=20) But since he's stunned (I think?) that'll do! DC20 Toughness.

"Well it matters to us," Gaian Knight pointed out, hands glowing as shards of earth arranged themselves throughout the room. "Demons don't typically pop up in libraries - well, not this part of the library, anyway. You guys know that Where the Wild Things Are isn't literal, right? It's not a suggestion. You don't actually have to hang out here." He made a fist and the stone fragments (of which there seemed to be suspiciously more than he'd started with) dropped out of the sky like blunt-tipped lances, plunging into the demons' ranks with no inconsiderable force. "Why you're here is as important as that you're here. Maybe more important - I for one would rather not run into more of you hanging out in the self-help section or something. This library seems to have enough problems already."
-
Y'know what I don't like lately? Dice. Dice just wait for moments when they can screw you over. Screw you, dice. GK's just going to AoE everything. All the things. Hooray for +Shapeable. DC21 Reflex for all the demons, then DC26/DC20 Toughness against damage, depending on whether or not they make the save.

Dragonfly was getting more than a little sick of something the size of the dragon twisting out of the way of her strategy; rather than try to duck around it as usual, she held her ground (or rather, held her air), flame streaming in all directions off the circular shield she was projecting with both hands until the dragon came close. Then suddenly her shield collapsed into a large twisting distortion that was launched right into the body of the beast, rippling across its body and distorting the very air under its wings. The heroine barely had time to pull far enough sideways to avoid the effect herself, but at least she'd finally hit the stupid thing....
-
Eee. Well, that would miss, if she didn't have the fatigue bringing her defenses down. Fortunately, spending hero points is a reaction! Dragonfly spends one to get rid of her suit's fatigue and get her defense back. Once more! Melee Attack Roll vs. Dragon (damage+nullify; All-Out Attack +2/-2, Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 10 + 2 - 2=27) Good god, finally. Dragonfly's defense is +10 until her next turn. Opposed Power Check, Nullify vs. Flight (1d20 + 12=20) Bah. At least the stun means it has a chance to fall out of the air, regardless....

Somewhere in the small parts of her mind not occupied with surviving a fight with a fire-breathing lizard, Dragonfly was happy she'd designed for maneuverability over sheer durability. She could have done either, but couldn't do both - not with the resources she'd had at the time, anyway. But a close look at those jaws certainly reinforced her opinion that not getting hit was better than enduring hits. Though being able to actually hit the dragon would have been nice, too: the flapping and thrashing let it evade her strike once again, and she made some terribly unkind accusations about the dragon's maternal lineage as she let herself drop to a slightly lower altitude. just need to hit you once - not that hard - and preferably need to not get bitten in half in the process
-
Melee Attack Roll vs. Dragon (damage+nullify; Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 10 - 2=9) whyyyyyyyy Siiiigh. Move action to lure the dragon down to about 200ft, as you mentioned earlier that's how far you intend for things to fall per round, and she wants it to actually hit ground before having a chance to turn its flight power back on.

"Mmh. Maybe. Skeptical," Dragonfly admitted, frowning over scans. "Too...regular. Different sources of excitement would have to present in the same way each time, only after sleep...seems like there should be more variation. Too easy to isolate the aberrations. Especially concerned," she added, gesturing to a couple of the scans, "with April first. Shows...oscillation? Maybe too slow for word to fit. But aberrant reading, then...reflection? Very strange data. Fascinating, sort of. Miss Americana's right, though - best to rule out malfunction, unlikely or not. Eliminate possible sources of confusion."
-
"It worked," Mara quietly confirmed, rubbing her slightly sticky cheek and looking pleased. "Was...tempted. A bikini, I mean. But wasn't sure how much I wanted to...show off. Can always do that in private, anyway. Water...thank you. Will keep it in mind. Think I'm doing okay so far, though." "Am never sure," she said, loud enough to be heard by people who weren't Ellie, "whether to regret missing that. All of that, I mean. School. Half the time, seems like I should be glad I missed it. Other half, feel like I'm missing something important to other people."

Dragonfly regained her senses just in time to see the dragon inhaling; she didn't know if that was the ever-classic fire breath or just a big gust of wind, but neither one was going to work in her favor. Her shield wouldn't be back up for a few precious, vital seconds, she wouldn't be able to fight the blast...so she didn't: she rolled, using the force of the wind itself to slide out of the way rather than thrust back toward the ground. Only then, of course, her suit informed her that her shield was available again. always half a moment too late Her suit was also informing her of the damage it had taken, both from being knocked around and from her own somewhat ill-advised improvised stunt she was pulling - or, at least, was trying to pull, as once again she rushed up toward the dragon and once again couldn't quite hit him with the extremely short-ranged distortion she kept generating. If she spoke draconic she'd have sworn in that; as it was, she had to make do with a couple less fantastic languages.
-
First things first - Dragonfly gets her shield back online! I'll...let the fatigue go, for now. Getting rid of it would be nice but not as nice as being able to avoid another stun like that, and having to rely on rolling a 19. Melee Attack Roll vs. Dragon (damage+nullify; Power Attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 10 - 2=11) For crying out loud....it's not even the power attack. The thing's DC15 to hit. The dice just won't let her TOUCH anything....
-
Toughness Save vs. Fireball, DC24 (1d20 + 15=24) By a hair! Which, with that save, he now probably has significantly less of.
-
Reflex Save vs. Dragon's Super-Breath, DC25 (1d20 + 6=25) Good god.
-
Toughness Save vs. Dragon's Breath, DC25 (1d20 + 8=10) Since fatigue hasn't technically hit yet to be waived, I'll just spend that last hero point here, I guess. Toughness Save REROLL vs. Dragon's Breath, DC25 (1d20 + 8=20) Bruised + Stunned. Concentration Check vs. Being Set On Fire, DC15 (1d20 + 5=10) Failure. But she'd have to do the following checks anyway, since she's stunned. Concentration Checks to maintain Force Field (DC13), Shield (DC18), Flight (DC14) while Stunned/Distracted (1d20 + 5=24, 1d20 + 5=6, 1d20 + 5=15) Dragonfly keeps her force field, loses her shield (-8 defense), but stays in flight. At the start of her next round (which she spends being stunned and floating in mid-air) her suit burns out from fatigue: -2pp to all powers. That's -0 Attack, -1 Damage, -2 Defense, -3 Toughness, plus the loss of teleport, some super-senses, improvised tools, etc, etc. Note that the stun, by virtue of being a stun, robs her of her shield's benefits anyway: with the -2 modifier on top of that she has 0 Defense.
-
Not nearly fast enough to protect his senses, Gaian Knight still managed to keep his focus under the demonically-empowered verbal assault. Still, he winced, putting one hand to his ear as the other swept in an arc over his head. "It's a library," he said through gritted teeth. The bits and shards that were hanging out behind him followed his hand through the air, and blunt, bullet-like shards of rock rained down on the demon. "If you're not explaining why the hell you're here, be quiet!"
-
GK could just area attack the lot of them, but he's kinda hoping one of them has answers of some sort. So: Ranged Attack Roll vs. Demon 3 (autofire blast) (1d20 + 12 - 2=29) A helpless demon should have a defense of...what, 15? Plus or minus size modifiers. Unless the demon has Shrinking 16, that should be the full +5 autofire bonus. DC27 (base) + 2 (power attack) + 5 (autofire bonus) = DC34 Toughness for the demon with the big mouth. Nonlethal damage, of course.

Reflex Save vs. Demon 3's Emotion Control, DC19 (1d20 + 7=17) Bah. Will Save vs. Demon 3's Emotion Control, DC19 (1d20 + 8=21) Hooray!
