GK switches targets again to stop the runner before it hurts someone or starts throwing stuff again. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Blobette 4 (autofire blast; fatigued, power attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 11 - 1 - 2=17) DC26 (base) + 2 (power attack) + 5 (autofire bonus) = DC33. Toughness Save vs. Gaian Knight's Autofire Blast, DC33 (bruised x2) (1d20 + 15 - 2=25) Fail by 8; bruised+stunned. Hurrah! ROUND FIFTEEN: (17 rounds remaining on Obscure) 9: Gaian Knight - 0HP - bruise x3, fatigued 6: Supercape - 3HP - bruise x1, fatigued 2: Blobette 4 - bruise x3, stunned -2: The Blob - bruise x3, stunned (6 rounds to gamma blast poison, 7 rounds to gamma blast poison, 10 rounds to gamma blast poison)

Unfortunately.... I read this as - and checked it with Shaen just to make sure I wasn't completely off-base, who agreed that the extra was stupidly unclear - that the first save can save you from the second one. That is, you're only inflicted with the poison part of the attack if the first save failed - otherwise you either shrugged off the poison or it couldn't penetrate your defenses to begin with. So the Blob will be taking poison hits in 6-7 rounds (though I agree, hopefully the fight won't last that long! Kinda made these guys too durable, didn't I....), but not every round, alas. Speaking of taking hits.... Fortitude Save vs. Supercape's Gamma Blast, DC25 (1d20 + 10=20) Bruised and stunned! Not only does it take more damage, but it won't be making its way out of the cloud. The little blob spends its turn finally getting out of the obscure, though. Oh, GK, if you'd been more tactical you'd have surrounded the cloud with a wall.... The big blob, of course, spends its round stunned.

As soon as the voice started Dragonfly's mood darkened, and she could be heard muttering, extending her vocabulary into a litany of exceedingly impolite Russian and Japanese, apparently switching back and forth to whatever language had the foulest swear of the moment. "Psychic influence," she finally observed, looking around the city as it passed beneath them. "Hate that. Explains a lot. Going to have an awful headache later...doing okay, Americana?"
-
More than enough. Dragonfly's not capable of moving that quickly (yet); the best she could do would be 200ft/round, and she's stunned for a round anyway.
-
Dragonfly scowled more than a little at the proceedings, but had to cede to Nick's judgement where the spirits of the dead were concerned....reluctantly. She did, however, find a spot to stand as far away from the lit pipe as possible, covering her face with one hand. seems disrespectful almost - offer them a sample of what helped kill them - feed the addictions of the dead? She shook her head, but stayed quiet, watching for signs she knew she wasn't attuned enough to see.

Frowning, Mara tilted her head. "Not...religious, myself. Met an angel, once, though. Gossamer was holding auditions for a charity concert. Heard him sing. Very...moving. Made me rethink my belief in...deity existence, if not desire to worship them. Was very interesting." She shook her head, once more catching herself as she tried to put hands in pockets that didn't exist. "Should probably leave, if you're ready. Too easy to stay here talking all night. Not...a bad thing. But not...the plan. I guess."

Mara snorted a little, pushing herself back upright and shaking her head. "Led to believe that Christmas isn't a very religious holiday anymore anyway. Not so strange. Chance to decorate, give gifts, meet friends. Save Santa Claus. ....last one might not be too common." She shrugged, moving by habit to put her hands in her pockets before remembering she didn't have any. "Not...too much a party person, but can at least understand the impulse. Looks good on you, regardless. ....most things would, I mean. Of course. But...mmh. Know what I meant."

She looked up as Ellie made her way back to ground level, and just...smiled. "Belle," she complimented, fidgeting a little and trying to get the butterflies in her stomach to quiet down. But they were happy butterflies, at least. adrenaline - endorphins - mmh - dopamine? - can't remember - doesn't matter "Like the vest. New?"

Mara blushed, but smiled a little. "Thank you. And mostly just want an excuse to see you climb stairs in those pants," she teased, pausing on her way into the kitchen to do just that on her way to pull a bottle of water out of her fridge for Ellie. That got set on the counter, which she leaned forward on while waiting for her girlfriend to change. Puppy was rolling around on the workshop floor, and paused to whir and click at her for a moment. "Will be fine," she assured it, though it hadn't asked (and wasn't really capable of asking) anything. "Just a nice date. Will be back later. Worry too much."

Mara ducked her head a little at the compliment, pulling some hair back behind an ear. "T...thanks. Could just use the bedroom...." She gestured to the lofted area at the top of the spiral staircase. "More room. Sort of...cluttered, though. Sorry. Clothes. Need to buy a dresser. Wardrobe has...expanded. Lately." The engineer tugged a little self-consciously at her skirt, but shook her head. "Want something to drink before we leave?"

There was only a short pause before the door opened, revealing a Mara that had - apparently - dressed up a bit for the occasion. In lieu of the normal jeans-and-t-shirt she'd opted for a black skirt and dark blue hooded blouse, both of which looked new enough that one might suspect she'd gotten them recently - if not for this date specifically, at least in anticipation of dating activities. but no makeup - don't fret that much over dates - wouldn't even know where to begin anyway "Ellie!" she greeted, standing aside so the young woman could step inside. She moved to hug her...and paused, glancing at the screwdriver she'd forgotten she was holding. That got put on a shelf by the door before she accidentally stabbed someone with it, and she tried the hug again.

Dragonfly was blown clear off her feet; her force field took the worst of the attack but not nearly enough to fully protect her, and she was knocked head over heels backwards into the snow, where she lay steaming and watching stars circle her head while Hiroshima took off. "" she commented in Russian, once her brain worked right again, ""

Toughness Save vs. Hiroshima Shadow's Blast, DC26 (1d20 + 7=10) No. Coughing up her second hero point. Toughness Save REROLL vs. Hiroshima Shadow's Blast, DC26 (1d20 + 7=8) @#$% you, dice. 1 -> 11 + 7 = 18. Fail by 8, stunned + bruised.

"Thanks," Gaian Knight called back, watching with a little dismay as the two remaining threats made a run for the edge of his storm...in opposite directions. "The little ones are a whole lot easier to take down, I guess. But it's the big ugly one that I'm really worried about...." He frowned, sweeping out a glowing hand. Earthen debris from all over the makeshift battlefield leapt off the ground, sweeping toward the larger of the two shadows in the dust. By chance, or (more likely) due to the continued beating it had been taking from Supercape, the blob shuddered, pausing for a moment in its sprint (roll? slide?) for freedom from the obscuring cloud. "Hah! It can be hurt," the coat-clad crusader noted, with an awful lot of satisfaction. "Almost lost my faith in hitting things with rocks, there."

Speaking of GK.... Ranged Attack Roll vs. The Blob (autofire blast; fatigued, power attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 11 - 1 - 2=13) Yes, that sounds about like my luck. It hits, but not by a lot. DC26 (base) + 2 (power attack) + 3 (autofire bonus) = DC31. Toughness Save vs. GK's Autofire Blast, DC31 (bruise x1) (1d20 + 18 - 1=27) Sweet jumpin' Jehoshaphat, it didn't make the save. 1 more bruise for the Blob! A slightly better attack roll and it'd be stunned, too. Blah. ROUND FOURTEEN: (18 rounds remaining on Obscure) 9: Gaian Knight - 0HP - bruise x3, fatigued 6: Supercape - 3HP - bruise x1, fatigued 2: Blobette 4 - bruise x2 -2: The Blob - bruise x2 (7 rounds to gamma blast poison, 8 rounds to gamma blast poison)

Fortitude Save vs. Supercape's Gamma Blast, DC25 (1d20 + 10=27) The Blob's luck is disgusting. The Blob spends his round trying to shuffle his way out of the obscure. Given its size, and the blob's size, I'm gonna say he doesn't quite make it out. Blobette 4 also makes a beeline for the edge of the cloud. Same deal. They are no longer close enough to be area attacked, as Blobette 4 knows what happened to its friend. Its tasty, tasty friend... "Blobs try to escape the dust storm" isn't a very interesting post, so I'm just gonna roll that into GK's in-character post.

Dragonfly shook her head, pushing her last hand closer to the dealer. not likely she needs it - tentacles seem to have long reach - still - polite? - not sure what acceptable standards are for card games - look it up later "Nobody new worth noting. Weapons dealers....not remarkable. Been busy, but only with existing threats....S.H.A.D.O.W., established gangs. Werewolves?" She frowned, tilting her head. "Suppose if they were being helpful...have met Cimitere, Dead Head. Good heroes. Effective."
-
Dragonfly held out her hands, the container and its face-hungry starfish folding back into normal space to be held between her gauntlets. "Seemed a safe place to store it. Isolated from the rest of my 'pocket', possible risk of contamination but only if I put other items or people in that....'compartment'. Mmh. Terms don't really translate. Regardless. Carrying it seemed like a risk, given the...improvised vessel and likely danger during transport." She frowned, peering down at the thing. "....and it was staring at me. Disconcerting."
-
Dragonfly snorted a bit, sitting on an overturned box and watching the group come back together. "Mmh. So, didn't intentionally hybridize them, then. In Harrison's favor, at least. Freak accident...odds unlikely. Not that probability stops anything in this city. Have to wonder what other potential hazards are in orbit, however. Unsettling." She shook her head, getting to her feet as the woman was reunited with her child. "Creature is safely contained. Or as safely as I could manage. Should start carrying duct tape with me. Useful."
-
Dragonfly scowled, but looked around for a moment for something better than a heavy piece of bricked electronics to secure the crate with - she settled on some heavy duct tape, and set about getting the thing as secured as she possibly could. And trying not to look at its...eye? Eyes? Gaze. Its horrible, horrible gaze. As soon as the package was as secure as she was likely to get it, she folded it away into her dimensional pocket and stood up, dusting off her hands...and paused. "....Americana," she asked over the commlink, more than a little wryly, "have suggestions for getting to Hanover safely? If Freedom City is infected, transportation through densely-populated areas is....problematic. Cannot fly. Motorcycle offers little protection. Suppose I could take one of the vehicles we arrived in...."
-
well - tried - not very good at talking villains down She frowned, watching the villain writhe as energy tore through him. odd - disagrees with him? - take advantage - mmh "" Dragonfly wryly noted as she stepped back to brace herself, raising a hand and unleashing a twisting shockwave of space at the villain. ""

Dragonfly's a lot of things, but a dedicated diplomat isn't one of them. And hey, let's make the guy who seems to be having trouble processing electricity process more electricity. That sounds like fun. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Hiroshima Shadow (blast) (1d20 + 9=17) Dunno if that hits. DC24 Toughness if it does.
-
Dragonfly blinked, the quick hug thankfully short enough that she could keep herself from wincing or pulling away - she was still not used to that close of human contact, her time with Ellie notwithstanding. "Can't evaluate friendship. Difficult to measure on an objective scale. Satisfied to be able to lend help, however. Will not join your team, but given your goals will be glad to make you more effective. Thank you for the food...and recipe. Very good. Will have to try my hand at it sometime."

Dragonfly frowned, glancing around the table as drama erupted. Grimalkin got an awfully grateful glance as she played mediator; the engineer was immensely glad someone had stepped in, because for a moment there it looked like this was going to become the sort of meeting where she finds a quiet corner and tries to stay out of the way while everyone goes for each others' throats. She just shook her head, and took advantage of the pause after Grim's speech to lay down her cards - two aces, a queen, a four, and a two.
