Mara glanced up from some big machine or another at the knock, blinking as she was shaken out of her building-and-fixing-things-groove. A quick query to her computer brought up the image from the door camera, revealing Silhouette and...Abe Sapien? Grabbing her visor and putting it on, she snagged a grease rag on her way to the door, too, wiping off her hands but not bothering to do much about her overalls or old, machinery-stained t-shirt. When she was close enough to be heard she extended what was, for her, a fairly welcome greeting. "Hello Silhouette," she said through the closed and locked door, her voice calm and level. "If your companion is forcing you to lead him here, say so and warehouse defenses will act quickly."

An interesting and creepy mental picture. I like it. Force Field back to full strength, infravision up mostly as a shot in the dark (if you'll pardon the joke), on the off-chance the guy's behind or under something thin enough to not block his heat.
-
Dragonfly frowned as she heard the commotion, bringing up her force field and coming back into the room as the last of the guy disappearing into the cracks. "Gross," she observed, very scientifically. "Thoughts? Trail?" she asked, turning the apparent transformation over in her head. clearly not here - probably - hiding? unconscious? - fluid structure - separation? - 'greasy' - lipid structure...single-celled? absurd - still - dangerous Scowling at the floor, the young woman brought her infravision up. Not that she expected to see a whole lot with it, but hopefully the mass of flesh was still giving off heat. It was better than nothing, anyway....

Dragonfly tilted her head, watching her friend's emerging sketch with interest. chance to fix some mistakes? - good resources - interesting collaboration - at-will-only volunteered work... "Could supply some engineering and money myself. Curious idea...I like it. Good resource, good for the city." chance to test rapid construction drones - do so little robotics work lately "Social engineering...mm." She shook her head, shrugging. "Not my area. Leave that to more capable hands. Machines are more predictable...poor experience with people." to say the least

Dragonfly seemed to find entirely new depths of distinctly un-lady-like words across several languages when she caught sight of the roiling mass of flesh. Part of it, though, was directed at herself. stupid - weakened force field - stupid stupid stupid - kind of mistake that gets you killed Throwing up a hand to unleash a blast of twisting, fragmented reality at what used to be a human, she backed up out of the room and ducked behind what was left of the door, its frame, and the nearby wall. Pressing herself against the building she let her force field drop, counting the seconds it'd take for her defenses to realign themselves.

Halloween isn't conducive to posting! Sorry for the wait. No-frills blast. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Motley (Blast) (1d20 + 8=22) DC23 Toughness if it hits. Move action: Leaving the room to cram herself into a corner at the top of the stairs where she's hopefully out of sight. Dropping her force field so it can come back at full strength next turn.

Gaian blinked, watching the...demon?...say its last and then vanish off to...somewhere. "Well," he observed, "that's pretty ominous." "Ah, right." There are more important things happening, Tarrant. Do try to pay attention... "I don't think I know any healers...we might just have to wait for paramedics to arrive, unless someone else has a better idea." Unconsciously resting a hand on the hilt of his sword, he split his attention between the two unconscious folk and the burning building, his expression unreadable behind his goggles and mask...but concerned, underneath.
-
Yeah, highest DEX (or, I assume, applicable ability score) goes first, yeah, in the case of an init tie. I...have no idea where Master Motley comes from. Cheating by looking it up on google isn't amazingly helpful - it's in an old story or two.... Initiative Roll (1d20 + 6=14)

"Mm. Drug trade isn't usually my target, but good to clean up the neighborhood. Proliferation...disturbing. Will have to look into it. If you need help, can reach me at..." Dragonfly trailed off, digging in her jacket for a moment and coming up with a torn-off scrap of paper and a pen, jotting down a phone number and handing it over. "...here. Or...well. You know where I live." She paused, tilting her head. "Knock, next time," she wryly added.
-
"Mm. Thought he looked...enhanced," Dragonfly commented, pulling out her cell phone and giving the local police a call. She was grateful, at least, that the local police had gotten use to her short, specific, but fairly evasive calls by now. think I hear dispatcher taking notes - good - dislike repeating myself When she was satisfied they knew what they needed to know (and what they'd find helpful, in the case of the stashed guns from earlier and the Max-user's health concerns), she abruptly snapped her phone closed and slipped it back into her jacket. "So," she said, after a pause and a chance to rub the bridge of her nose, finally dropping her force field. "Successful night. Neighborhood cleaned up a little; some information on your end. Drug trade isn't usually my thing, but good to branch out sometimes. Was the information gathered helpful?"

Dragonfly tilted her head, eyeing the thug. not...technically lying - worth a try - pocket uncomfortable? transition unnerving - so I'm told - not very good at this "Not as good at physical violence," she noted, finally. Tilting her head to the other side, she glanced down at her gauntlet, adjusting the fit and looking over the top down at their captive. "Could just put him back in the pocket for now. Don't seem to like that much, do you? Don't blame you. Very odd - keep losing things that go in. Best wrench, some bolts. Scrap metal. Two lab rats. Just...can't get them back out." Making a disappointed face, the young inventor shrugged. "Disappointing. But, if he's not helpful, won't answer your questions, have to take care of him somehow...."

Intimidate Check vs. Thug (1d20 + 1=18) So, I guess the thug has a DC18 Sense Motive or Intimidate check to not answer whatever Sil wants to ask.
-
"Wait! Not enough--" Slick was already gone, though. fast "--information." A few more choice foreign words got muttered - and a helpless, questioning look thrown Cannonade's way - as she brought her force field down to let it realign. Quickly, but carefully, she made her way after the enraged hero(ine?). angry too - sympathetic - control - always always have to have control - impulses dangerous unchecked

Dragonfly had a few choice words in Russian, this time, as she tried to blast him a second time. "Very evasive," she finally, tersely observed, apparently having run out of foul Russian for the time being. "Surprising."

Ranged Attack Roll vs. Gangster (Blast) (1d20 + 8=15) Not so awesome, but DC23 if it happens to hit.

Building taken care of and time bought. Save those people! Loves me some Create Object.
-
"For the love of-" Gaian Knight watched the building burst into flame, smoke escaping out of any available door or window. That can't be good. "Everywhere I go, someone's trying to bring something down around somebody's ears. At least it's not another bridge...." Complain though he might, he'd already spread his feet, anchoring himself and holding softly-glowing hands out to his sides. All around the building the ground started to move; in some places it cracked apart, while in others it just flowed upwards like a thing alive, bricks and loose debris flying in to join the cement, asphalt, and pure raw dirt and rocks wrapping up around the building. Even inside the building rocks and slabs of unknown stone assembled themselves into makeshift supports, reinforcing the burning construction; in a few short seconds the building was covered and reinforced, protected from setting its neighbors aflame and (at least, in the short term) collapsing. The only openings left were at the door to the street and a few windows to let the smoke pour out into the sky.
-
OP - do you want Sparksmith to help take care of the building, or do you want GK to just handle it (he seems to do a lot of structural support work....hm) and have Sparksmith concentrate on the thing trying to kill everyone? GK can make a 350-foot cube...which is enough to recreate the building, much less just contain and support it.

Just 'cos there was turn confusion and it was driving me nuts, this is the init order as I understand it. I could be wrong. It's more for my own reference than anything else. 24: Dragonfly (unharmed) 0HP 20: Slick (unharmed) 1HP 19: Gangster (unharmed) 14: Cannonade (unharmed) 0HP

I am keen on the two towers thing if and only if they form a giant Jacob's Ladder. A Space Needle design would have to be scaled up a bit to realistically fit these things in the spine. The saucer, proportionally, would get pretty large...but as a design it could work if people like it.
-
Behind her visor, Dragonfly blankly blinked. what - 'shields good' - what is this I don't even - my shield is made out of reshaped reality what do you carry "Y...yes. Fond of shields myself, reasonably reliable. Don't...think anyone here doubts that." understatement - like school? - no data "Small shields require training for effective use; large shields situationally useful - riot shields - but bulky. Average officer likely prefers kevlar or equivalent, but...why not." Sighing, she eyed Jessica's design. "Clever. Small, maliable....mm." Biting her lip, she drew a small series of connected nodes going down the back of each vane, a couple small wires entering the device at the base. "Power source I use is... proprietary, and unwise in mass production. Manipulates entropy. Likely better options...can at least offset the power drain. Energy sinks -" she paused, indicating the little nodes, as Alexandra entered. know her - news? - research later "Small, approaching inexpensive with right machinery, technology. Resources, always. Energy shields have bad habit of soaking some of what they deflect; kinetic energy - bullets - minor problem, energy weapons or metahumans worse. Absorb the excess, convert to electric charge, channel into battery or capacitor to supplement true power source. Discharge extra as light or heat or static...."
-
Nodding, Dragonfly tilted her head, sending some mental commands towards her gauntlets as she held her hand out, palm down. Reality twisted and folded in its now-usual way, the thug unfolding back into normal space and dropping unceremoniously onto the ground at their feet. appropriate "Hello," she said, eyeing him with something between contempt and apathy.

My job's easy! I get to look at this thread after you've all tossed ideas back and forth and go, 'You guys tossed ideas back and forth and arrived at something neat! Good job!' More seriously, Dragonfly's 'only' Wealth 1 but would gladly contribute her brain and no small amount of money to a project like this. Borderline untraceable money, at that. If there are points left over, I'd vote for living quarters (for overnighters/guests/whatever). It seems like something a considerate think tank would have for its visiting brains. Holding Cells would be useful but how often are they likely to be withholding metahumans from the authorities or facilities better-equipped for such things? If we have the points, that's easily my second pick (great for plots), but as it stands it seems like something that could be improvised when needed..... Docks seems like a bit much, since it's a research/science base and not an actual superhero lair. Ground and air vehicles - either in-use or being worked on - would be far more common than subs or boats, especially that far from the coastline proper.

Chuckling, Gaian Knight slipped his sword back into its sheath and stretched. "Fair enough...don't really blame you." Let's not specify who 'you' is, heh. "And if you've gotta know something, it's best to know it really, really well, hm?" He stretched, eyeing the sullen, earth-wrapped duplicator. "Well. I suppose I'd better go give this guy to the police. No more nightly raids for you, buddy." He bowed, grinning under his mask. "Again, it was a pleasure, Jack, Jill. I'll let you get back to your patrols...thanks again for the help." Waving a hand, Jill's 'throne' shifted to carefully deposit her on her feet before dissolving into dust and debris that swept away to where ever it had come from in the first place. Unceremoniously hopping up to stand on the rock around his captured villain, he gave the pair a final salute before flying away towards Downtown. I think I like those two. The girl's a little young, but she seems to be in good hands...I hope they're both getting a good education.
