  1. Datalink + Mental Quickness 6 = information times! First order of business, poke around the computer itself for anything useful - e-mails, useful or enlightening (or suspicious) files, browsing history, that kind of thing. Special attention for the delta symbol. Taking 10 on the Computers check, 'cos I'm lazy and don't want the dice to screw me over. 'bout 0.6 seconds, then, at crazy-brain speed (EDIT: now that I remember there aren't 60 seconds in a second). Seeing as I already made the IC post, though, I'll let it stand and assume she's just taking a moment to download the map and double-check the message.
  2. He chuckled, and shrugged. "Something like that, sure. It's really not as hard as it looks." ...if you got power shoved into you by the magic answering machine, anyway. He went back to looking at the highlighted spots. "What's that saying...'No plan survives first contact with the enemy'? This doesn't look like a bad plan, and it leaves us pretty open to improvise when things go wrong." And they do always seem to go wrong, don't they? "I'm fine with this unless someone else has a better suggestion."
  3. That could work, though you'll want to take the Drawback off Flight in that case. Speaking of, I just realized that I deleted a note on the Powers section between edits: The main device (the suit) is overbudget, at 48 (49, if you take the drawback off Flight) power points, when a rank 8 Device can only supply 40. Something else to look at. My device-user sympathizes. Never enough points to go around....
  4. Dragonfly scowled a bit as another shockwave flew past the freak as he moved to get his footing. has incredible luck - fate is perverse - like the world is determined by die roll "Hoping one of you has a better idea. Down to 'keep hitting it' or...hm." could - dangerous - might not kill him - seems to take a lot of abuse - get inventive? Slowly, she glanced from the freak to the rooftops of the nearby buildings, something inside her gauntlets whirring and reconfiguring.
  5. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Freak (Blast) (1d20 + 7=9) *beats head against desk* Also, Knowledge (Life Sciences) check (Eidetic Memory) (1d20 + 6=12) as she tries to figure out whether or not it'd be awfully dangerous to drop the guy off the top of a building. Shifting the spacial array to Dimensional Pocket so that she doesn't have to bother with it next time ('cos I needed to pad out the post! ). How tall are the surrounding buildings?
  6. Alrighty, then. (EDIT: and of course you posted a newly-edited version when I was almost through. I at you good-naturedly!) Keep in mind that this is all just my first (EDIT: second, now) take on it, and it's possible I've messed up math or missed something. Hopefully others will catch my mistakes if I did. Abilities: Checks out. I think someone already commented on the odd STR, so I won't. Combat:Not entirely sure what's happening here: Init's fine. Attack's priced correctly (10pp for +5) but I don't see where you're getting another +5 for Hard Light attacks. Your Grapple is (attack bonus + strength modifier + super-strength modifier + size modifier, as given on page 156 in the core book). In your case, that's 5 + 5 + 0 + 0 = 10, not 8. Don't quite get what you're doing here. If you spent 16pp on your defense, then your base defense is 8, and your flat-footed defense is 4 (base defense / 2, rounded up). Your Knockback modifier indeed -3, though I don't know why you specify anything about flying. Saves: You can't buy Toughness like you buy other saves; if you want to improve it you have to do so through equipment or powers or such. Your Fortitude gets +4 from Con, not +3, so it ought to be Fortitude: +8 (+4 Con, +4). Similarly, your Dex modifier is +3 and your Wis modifier is +0, so your Reflex is +7 (+3 Dex, +4) and your Will is +6 (+0 Wis, +6). Skills: I count 41 skill ranks, not 36, so you either need to put another 2pp into your skills (and put another 3 skill points somewhere) or you need to drop some skill ranks. Incidentally, most skill checks happen in increments of 5 (DC5, DC10, DC15, DC20, etc), and you can take 10 or 20 on most skill checks out of combat, so it might be worth shuffling things around so that, after the ability bonus, your skill bonuses are multiples of 5 themselves. Not necessary, but possibly more efficient. Your Dex modifier is only +3, so Acrobatics should end up being (+6), not (+7). Concentration is Wis-based, so you have a +0 ability modifier there, and it stays at (+4). Knowledge (Business) should be (+13), getting only +10 from your Int, not +11. Notice is also Wis-based, so again, +0 ability modifier, and it stays at (+3). Ditto Profession (+3) and Sense Motive (+3). Since that leaves Profession under the +5 bonus limit, you won't get a free Benefit (Wealth) rank off it. Feats: I count 14pp of feats, not 12. Part of this is probably that you don't have your full +5 Profession bonus, so you don't have a free rank of Benefit (Wealth). If you do get Profession back up to a +5, you should probably note in your Feats where one of those Wealth ranks is coming from - something like "Benefit (Wealth) 2 (3 with Profession (CEO))". Improved Critical applies to a specific attack, not a descriptor, to the best of my knowledge. You'll probably have to specify one of your attacks (the Blast, for instance) for this feat. Powers: Formatting! Let's do that here. I had to play with the formatting a little, since it usually assumes you actually make an Array structure, rather than use the Alternate Power feat: Powers: 32 + 4 = 36pp Device 8 (Super Suit, 40pp Device, Flaws: Hard to Lose) [32pp]Create Object 10 (Extras: Movable, Feats: Dynamic Alternate Power 3, Dynamic, Precise, Selective) [39pp] (Hard Light) DAP: Blast 5 [10/33pp] (Hard Light) DAP: Dazzle 10 (Visual Senses) [20/33pp] (Hard Light) DAP: Snare 10 (Feats: Obscures Senses [Visual], Reversible) [22/33pp] (Hard Light) Flight 5 (Drawbacks: Power Loss (if an electromagnetic power scores a crit)) [9pp] Device 1 (Protection Goggles, 5pp Device, Flaws: Hard to Lose) [4pp]Immunity 1 (Own Powers) [1pp] Super-Senses 3 (Normal Vision [Extended], Infravision, Microscopic Vision 1) [3pp] First thing I notice is that your arrayed powers are way under-budget. Which is fine, but you have a lot of points to play with there. Snare and Dazzle can't go up in rank any higher because of caps, but Blast certainly could, and you could afford an extra or two here and there. I also noticed that you're 1 point under budget in your goggles - you have 5pp to fill it out with, and only bought 4pp worth of stuff. Also fine, but figured I'd mention it. Drawbacks: You may want to specify why Electromagnetic Radiation is a drawback. What does it do? Why is it a common, major drawback to your character? Normal Identity starts as a 3-point drawback, and gets higher depending on how long it takes you to change into your super-powered identity. You don't have quick-change, and I see nothing on your sheet implying you can speed up putting on the suit; changing your outfit takes 10 rounds without something (like Quick Change or Quickness or Super-Speed or somesuch) helping you; that qualifies you for the full 5-point Normal Identity drawback. DC Block: More formatting here. I recommend writing this thing up in Notepad, so you can get it all spaces how you want. Worth noting that Dazzle has both a Reflex AND a Fort save, both (in your case) DC20. Which leaves us with some final notes, and the math. Math first. I'm not going to try to tally up the pp totals because it looks like some stuff is going to need to be adjusted, but from the rough math you're just about right at 150ish pp - not greatly over or under. As for final notes, you're well, well under caps, offensively and defensively. Offensively (ignoring the extra +5 to Hard-Light attacks, because I don't know where that came from) you're PL5 with your blast. Your only decent option to actually damage someone is dropping a created object on them (a PL10 area attack). Defensively you're currently PL6 (8 defense, 4 toughness; 8 + 4 = 12 / 2 = 6), which is pretty low. I speak from experience when I say that being too far under the defensive PL caps is going to hurt. You can watch my earth controller get his butt completely and royally handed to him over here, where he only stayed on his feet at all through blind luck and plentiful hero points. Learn from my mistakes: the defensive caps, they are good things to keep up with.
  7. what? "Slick?" gender change - shapeshifter side-effect disguised - should have guessed - annoying Figuring it was better to ask questions when no one was in danger of being flattened, Dragonfly brought up her other gauntlet and gave the freak another gut full of spacial anomaly. need more weaponry built in - other options - variety
  8. Blagh. So many blasts! Ranged Attack Roll vs. Freak (Blast) (1d20 + 7=15) Blah blah DC22 blah toughness blah.
  9. Mara froze up a little when hugged, but somehow managed to collect herself enough to take her hand away from her face. "Th...thank you. Appreciate it. Need to not attract attention...usually smarter than that. More tired than I thought?" She dug around in her bag, coming up with a few old-looking parts - old-school vacuum tubes, newer-looking wire, some metal plating. "I was part-hunting. Good finds in the small shops...always need spare parts. New parts." last batch exploded - had to pick glass out of warehouse roof - don't mention that "Got hungry...was near the deli. You? Deli isn't...." She frowned, grasping for a word, and finally gestured at Moira. "....up-scale?"
  10. Something about this whole conversation was making that thought itch and itch, but she couldn't quite put her finger on the problem. "Mara," she replied off-handedly, and shook her head. The thought hadn't liked that much, somehow. "Don't know your work. Sorry. Don't watch much news, only sometimes read papers...remembered you from auditions." The thought didn't like that at all, for some reason; she tilted her head, trying to figure out what the problem was while she talked. "Had a good voice. You did, I mean. Don't think I could have been that...out....going?" Very slowly she turned her head to meet Divine's gaze, eyes a little wide, if still very tired. was in costume - went by codename - what did I just say She sighed, and put a hand over her face to hide the blush. very smooth - very very smooth
  11. Mara blinked a little tiredly and nodded to the woman, covering a yawn with the back of her hand. "Hello. It's...um." She snapped her fingers, trying to get her tired brain into gear. "...Divine? Yes. Divine. Sandwiches are very good...come by once a week. Twice a week. Simple food, good food. Large portions. Good prices." Somewhere in the back of her mind, an itching little thought was growing. something wrong - a mistake? - missed something - what - something I did do should have done shouldn't have done?
  12. Oh - because it's not as clear as I thought it was when I was crazy-tired and wrote the IC post, Dragonfly just used Datalink to violate your cell phone and stick her number on there. This is sort of becoming a habit...at least she didn't violate the warranty this time.
  13. "Yeaah...yeah, that'll work. I could probably build us a nice brick wall or...hm. We could go underground, maybe." Gaian Knight scratched his cheek, eyeing the alleyway in question. "The earth's usually deep enough." He sighed a bit at the talk of lethal force. Oh, come on. Really? Really. "I don't think very many heroes in this city would use lethal force. Certainly not ones picked for a mission to stop some kids." He waved a hand. "I haven't been here too long, but killers of any sort...well, it just doesn't seem like they'd last long here."
  14. Dragonfly pulled her attention back out of the gauntlet, the device lighting back up and softly whining as it restored its charge. "Not dead. Momentary glitch. Overcharge scrambled...nevermind. Took care of it." hope so anyway - realigned - safety checks - charge could be better - field test She extended her arm and fired again, faring much better this time. "Fixed now."
  15. Attack Roll vs. Freak (Blast) (1d20 + 7=25) Much better. DC22 Toughness.
  16. Dragonfly packed up her instruments, sighing inside and wishing she didn't have to drag them all the way back home. investigate alternate transportation - storage? - could throw together some kind of pocket dimension - cohesion an interesting challenge... She gave Estelle a quick and awkward bow on her way out, pulling the oversized double bass case behind her on its wheels. "Thank you. For the audition I mean. Was....fun. Looking forward to the actual concert. Will likely be very successful." Glancing at the woman's cell phone, something behind the visor flickered with little blue lights, and she added, "You have my contact information. Phone number. Usually reachable." Nodding like that explained absolutely everything, she made her way out through the door, distractedly humming to herself and wondering if maybe she could repurpose some of her old parts into something special....
  17. GOT to be kidding me - how - why - less and less sympathy for this thing - can't do that a second time - never seems to work as intended - enhanced durability? subdermal armor toughened muscle projected biokinetic.... - fight taking entirely too long Biting her lip, Dragonfly returned to the good old strategy of firing a shockwave at the Freak...but her hand jerked back painfully, an anemic, half-formed disturbance spinning off into the air and splashing harmlessly against the nearby building. wh - what? Watching it with wide eyes, she called up diagnostics with datalink and muttered foul things in two languages. entire warp engine is off-balance - going to take a few seconds to fix....
  18. Attack Roll vs. Freak (Blast) (1d20 + 7=8) Oh, awesome. Well done, Dragonfly.
  19. Gaian furrowed his brow, thinking. "Well, I can fly myself around...I could probably take someone with me. I could probably even make some stairs to the roof, but that's probably not very subtle." He nodded and spread his hands. "Fair enough, and well-said. Still, I think we'd all rather avoid that situation if we possibly can. What with the good old superhero morals, and all that." He grinned, leaning forward and eyeing the map. "So how long do we have before we have to head out?"
  20. VWORP! Behold: SCIENCE! Normally minions get saving throws, but on crits they auto-fail them and take the worst possible result, which is why I asked. Crits are wonderful things.
  21. Dragonfly grimaced as she stepped through the door, covering her mouth with one hand. disgusting - how can you live like this - doing a service by taking it out of the neighborhood - single guard - noise problem - time to be a little more subtle Sneaking up as fast as she dared along the wall, Dragonfly shot out a hand and grabbed JD by the wrist. Lights and circuits on her gauntlet flared; he had just enough time to look at her in a wide-eyed stupor before little lines of fracture spread up his arm and across his body, like creases in paper. And like paper, each new little facet in his image started folding in on itself, twisting and collapsing inward towards Dragonfly's hand until the only thing left behind was his shotgun and the traces of his pipe's odor. see how long he stays in there - matter of willpower? - hopefully a while "Should have listened to his boss." The young inventor smiled a little as she flexed her hand, looking up the stairs towards the second floor.
  22. There was a curious contrast between the motorcycle that pulled up outside and its rider: the machine was obviously well cared-for, sleek and grey with an engine that purred and a body almost perfectly scratchless. The girl on the other hand looked somewhat the worse for wear, like she hadn't slept in days...which was appropriate, since she hadn't. Her clothes were at least comfortable if not terribly fashionable: an old pair of jeans, a t-shirt with a logo faded to illegibility, an equally-worn jacket, and a satchel that could charitably be described as 'loyal', and less charitably be described as 'weather-beaten'. Mara gave Pete a wave as she entered the deli, brushing a dirty blond lock out of her face as she gave him her order - "Wheat, turkey, this, that, that, none of that this time please. Maybe pickle, this time? Thank you." - before leaning back against a chair and rubbing an eye. too long in the workshop - so close - need parts need time need coffee - really need coffee - need to acquire more mannequins - think I've destroyed latest batch
  23. Let's try something a little different, and gamble on a drugged-out skinny guy not having awesome reflexes or willpower. Dragonfly's gonna rush up and try a Dimensional Pocket attack. Not sure if it counts as a surprise attack, though apparently, it might not matter: Melee Attack Roll vs. JD, (Dimensional Pocket) (1d20 + 7=27) ...man, I wish that had just been an attack roll. Oh well. I'm assuming a half-asleep, stoned, malnourished thug doesn't have a +18 defense bonus. If JD's a minion, he's pocket'd! If he isn't, DC21 Reflex to save. IC pending attack results.
  24. fight going too long - can't risk organ failure - really hope this doesn't burn out the gauntlets Holding her arm out in front of her, Dragonfly stood stock-still in the alleyway as space around her right hand...warped. Starting out small and growing until it was a distortion the size of a basketball, a small chunk of the universe just started to look and feel wrong, like it had been cut up into jagged fragments and badly reassembled. For just a couple seconds as it hit full size the entire alleyway seemed to bend inward towards it like some massive optical illusion; running, rippling traces of reality arcing out from the metal to spark against the nearby building walls. hurts - need to rework containment - if this doesn't work I'm just taking a vacation A few normally light neon blue lights and circuits on both gauntlets shifted to an angry shade of red and she finally released the blast, firing it straight at the creature's stomach.
  25. Okay, this has gone on quite long enough, sez Dragonfly. Spending an HP to get Power Attack. Using Power Attack: Attack Roll vs. Freak (Blast, Power Attack (-5)) (1d20 + 7 - 5=6) ....yeah, okay, no. Second HP to reroll! Attack Reroll vs. Freak (Blast, Power Attack -5) (1d20 + 7 - 5=5) That's (3+7-5=5), but by the magic of reroll rules it becomes (13+7-5=15). Horray! Hopefully 15 hits. Assuming it does, that's a DC27 toughness save, this time.
