  1. "I feel like I probably have it better than a lot of people," Liz admitted, looking sheepish; she was now out of cupcakes, but wasn't making an effort to steal more. "I have one brother who's gay, and my parents pretty pointedly ask everyone but him how their relationships are doing when we're all at dinner. But he is still invited to dinner, you know? I kind of think they're just waiting for him to get over it and give them grandchildren or something." She shrugged, a full-body motion that might have been cartoonish if it was any less sincere. "I like...pretty much everybody, everybody's pretty great, even if it's a lot more, um, theory than practice." She was working on that. It was also something she probably wouldn't bring up at the dinner table. "If I got into a relationship they didn't like, though, they might still be kind of grateful I'm out there living and I really don't know how that would all work. For now they don't know or probably do know but don't ask questions."
  2. "The cupcakes are really good," Elizabeth probably said around a mouth full of cupcake. She had, at least, the good sense to swallow before moving on. "As for, um, ☠☠☠☠," she added, glancing at Mia with a raised finger, "I think a lot of people don't know? I don't spend a lot of time online but online's full of people figuring things out really late or changing who they are or wondering or...whatever. I figure, not being sure is just a head start? Unless, you know," she said, pausing for a bite of cupcake, "you like pretty much everyone because pretty much everyone is really great. Hey, Abby!" Abigail got a wave, cheerful and unassuming. Liz had figured Abby would be here. Maybe she'd find someone she liked! "There are more people here than I expected. That's...kind of encouraging, actually?"
  3. "Did you tell them there would be cupcakes?" Elizabeth had not entered through the door, which probably meant she was trying to be clever and subtle...with all the usual success of an Elizabeth attempting casual, social subtlety. She was dressed simply, a pale blue blouse hanging loose over trim white pants, and the mask at her hip had three stripes down the length of it - pink, yellow, and blue. She also had about one-and-a-half cupcakes, plus a bit of frosting on one side of her mouth that she swiped up with one finger. "There isn't a lot of hate at school, so maybe people didn't think it was that big a thing?" she said, flashing an open smile and a friendly wave toward new arrivals. The wave reminded her of the frosting, and she paused long enough to pop the finger into her mouth. "But I bet you'd have half the school here if they'd known about the cupcakes, these are great."
  4. Gaian Knight & Tiamat A New Era (3) Alice (Gremlin) Members Only (1) Masque Helpless (1) Please rollover 1 GK post to Grim, and the rest to Eclipse. Ref point to Masque, please.
  5. A straight-forward sheet! Refreshing. Mostly just some math/notation stuff: With +4 base defense, Spectre would have a +2 Flat-Footed defense. With +8 Toughness (+4 Con, +4 Defense Roll), Spectre would have a -4 Knockback modifier (-2 Flat-Footed). When listing alternate powers (such as the Insubstantial AP), please list their full costs (rather than the 1pp it technically cost); it makes auditing/editing sheets much easier. I think the sheet template has some solid formatting examples.
  6. The DC Block should go at the bottom of your sheet, but I'm not going to make you fix that now when you've been waiting more than long enough already. It's otherwise a nice, clean sheet - I like it! APPROVED!

    A New Era

Gaian Knight shook his head, clearing his vision as the cement fragments and dust fell to the ground - just in time to see Tom knocked off-balance and half-frozen. That was an opening, and he wasn't going to let it pass by. The geokinetic hero planted his feet, four great earthen hands winding their way out of the cracked pavement; he made a motion like a closed fist and they followed suit, each clasping around a different limb and anchoring their foe to the immovable stone beneath the city. It wasn't fast, but between Tiamat and Frost it didn't have to be, and it'd hold even against the strength of Tom Cyprus. He hoped. "If anyone wants to hit him, now's our chance," he called out, bringing up his other hand; earth flowed up each of the anchoring limbs, reinforcing it against an inevitable shock. "You're not going to get a better shot!"

Works for me. Probably grab, fry, freeze, smash?
  10. That's amazing. APPROVED!
  11. Combat The Attack line lists a +7 Claws/Fangs bonus; since base melee attack is +3, I'm assuming there would be two ranks of Accurate or Attack Specialization somewhere, but I'm having a heck of a time finding it. Skills You've paid for 24 ranks of skills, but you've only bought 23.
  12. APPROVED!
  13. Yes, good. Let's see, here. Combat/Feats You've bought Attack Focus: Melee 7, but you're only using Attack Focus: Melee 6. Powers You've bought an 80pp container, but you've only used 78pp of it. Tally You've bought a -5pp weakness that isn't figured into your pp costs, in the Drawbacks line and in the Totals line - so you have 5pp still to spend.
  14. Combat / Saves With a base defense of +5, Dragoneer would have a +3 flat-footed bonus, not a +2. With 8 Impervious Toughness and 2 non-Impervious Toughness, Dragoneer's max knockback modifier would be -9, not -8. Defensive Roll gives a +2 Toughness bonus, not a +1, though I believe the final +10 is still correct. Powers For the same of sheet math, now and in the future, please note the actual pp costs of array powers, not what you paid to get them (since the 1pp cost is already folded into the purchase of the array itself). The Character Sheet Template has some solid examples of how to do this.

Gaian Knight had a split-second to choose how to defend himself, and he'd never know how the other choice might have gone - he threw one hand up, willing the concrete to halt its path. And it did, heeding his command as all earth must...at least, until the stone aggregate tore its way out, slowing much faster than the more-processed and less-rocky cement surrounding it. His efforts might have saved him a block of solid pavement to the skull, but they'd earned him a shower of lesser chunks and dust that were only somewhat better. This was, as were all things, entirely unacceptable to his partner in anti-crime. Tiamat issued a low noise that mammals had not quite forgotten to fear, lashing around with awful speed to bring one clawed hand directly down, bouncing Tom off the hard ground like a mouse beset by a great cat. "DO NOT."

Well! First things first: Gaian Knight Toughness Save vs. Tom, DC34: 1d20+18 23 Yeouch. Still full up on HP, let's...try that again. Toughness Save REROLL vs. Tom, DC34: 1d20+18 29 The worst he could possibly do on a reroll. That sounds about right for GK. Failed by 5, dazed + bruised. I'll take it. GK spends the round shaking off the daze, then, and loses a hero point. Tiamat Tiamat will not be amused, and with Gabriel on zombie duty she'll try for a little retribution. Can plant zombies be startled? Let's find out! She'll fast task: startle. Intimidation Check vs. Tom: 1d20+24 35 Mediocre! That's an intimidate, sense motive, or will save against her to avoid being flat-footed. Melee Attack Roll vs. Tom: 1d20+12 18 I'm...not sure that's going to hit unless he's startled. Alas! DC33 toughness vs. damage if it hits, though.
  17. Liz would definitely be interested in fight club.
  18. "I don't really give away possessions," Alice said through a cheeky grin, hands shoved quite firmly into her jacket pockets. "That's not really how this goes. It's mo--" She froze for a moment, a short hitch in turning on one heel to direct some manner of sass at her companions. Alice didn't smile. She grinned, and glowered, scowled, mocked, glared, and teased, but she never smiled. And now she smiled, an expression as pleasant as it was entirely unsuited to her own face. "....we need to leave!" she said, with all the tone and ease of someone politely excusing themselves from a party that was already winding down. "Right away. Thank you for inviting us into your spook house goodbye."
  19. Name: Elizabeth Grey Codename: Masque Year: Junior Pronouns: she/her Current Intramural Team: Red Squad Current Roommate: Abigail Storm Reflection: Liz made a lot of friends and did a lot of fun, new things! New foods! But it's never enough, and she'd like to fight more crime (even though - especially because? - she isn't supposed to). School Club: Join...all the things? Drama or media clubs would hold her attention longer than most others.

"Senior year!" Elizabeth's eyes went wide, clapping a hand over her mouth in what was probably supposed to be shock. "Kam! An older woman! What a wonderful scandal. I knew you had it in you!" She was grinning again, ear to ear, and had possibly never stopped. Still, she leaned back in, conspiratorial, and said, "I think you should let us help. We'd be wonderful wingpeople." Her eyes were sparkling and she was making a very conscious effort to do absolutely nothing with her hands, which probably had nothing to do with the animated neon sign above Kam's head that read CUTE SINGLE BOY above flashing arrows. "We're very subtle, and you can trust us to only have your very best interests at heart."

"Hey! None of that," admonished the Gaian Knight, reaching out one glowing hand; the spray of Cyprus' attack slowed to a halt. He made a fist and it churned back into motion, reforming into a series of blunted earthen spikes that reversed their path to plunge into the face and shoulders of their unliving opponent. "I would really like to know what brought him up here today," he said, casting his eyes around the battlefield. Velocity was always too much to keep up with, but at least he could track her good work. Their little arena seemed clear enough, but what about.... "Tiamat, get the perimeter! He really does not seem like the sort to schedule an ambush. What are the odds, bad timing or provocation?" Tiamat snorted, but she couldn't disagree with the logic - her great dragon mass peeled away from the core of the fight, snaking out along the far edge of the pavilion and demonstrating a distinct lack of empathy for her zombie opponents; the ones that didn't get swatted back into the fight were on fire, and the ones on fire did not make it far. The ones that got swatted didn't always get back up. "Horrid little mice," she hissed, tail curling in to knock a few would-be escapees back. "It is my city and you may not infest it."

GK'll go ahead and just hit him...with rocks! It seems the thing to do. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Tom Cyprus: 1d20+15 32 If that doesn't hit him, we're in trouble. That's a DC30 toughness save vs. damage. Tiamat will take a full-round action to deal with any zombies trying to wander off.
