  2. Elizabeth stroked her chin, pondering what one would take into a proper tomb. "I can do light," she volunteered, frowning. "Though I guess extra lights to go around wouldn't hurt at all. Rope sounds pretty good, though - I don't think I brought any, but they've got to have some lying around, right?" That was more a question for Veronica, white eyebrows raised in genuine curiosity. "There are other ways out of, you know, pits of snakes and spikes and weirdly-still-operational saw blades or whatever, but we might also just end up having to carry something or tie some jerks up. Anything else, though? I'm with Kam - you're the expert."
  3. Elizabeth probably had something complementary to say about all the food, but had a difficult time saying it with a mouth full to overflowing, cheeks puffed and a corner of bread sticking out. She made an embarrassed noise, held a hand in front of her face to shield her shame while swallowing, and tried again. "S-sorry. It's really good, though," she said. She'd loaded up with a bit of everything, determined as ever to experience everything she possibly could. When she did resume eating, at least, it was with a little more grace and a little less faux pas. "You've got to try the kushari, Kam." The teen gestured toward the dish with restrained enthusiasm, but only after getting a second helping. "It's so good. I'm looking that recipe up when we get back." "I should be able to meet up with you guys pretty much wherever, if we think we can't head out as a group. I'm very subtle," she said, quietly, adding a third piece of kebab to her collection. The comment didn't seem to be entirely un-self-aware, accompanied as it was by a wry grin. "Can't be that hard to say we're taking a walk to look at the stars over the desert, or something, though. We are pretty much tourists."

The second Elizabeth cocked her head, returning the shake as best as she was able with so much smaller a hand. "That is a very polite way of saying I get into trouble," she said, grinning. "I promise to at least try to be responsible with my trouble, though." She faded away, dissolving into nothing from the head down - her crossed fingers were just visible behind her back before they, too, vanished. The first Elizabeth made a snorting noise from where she was trying to help with the presents, paying a fair bit more attention to the magic circle than the boxes of apparently-tasty mysteries. "Wish I'd thought of that. Guts enough to stay on a roof and throw magic, at least! I'm leaning to fight up close, but I don't think a Krampus would have been very impressed if I'd poked its toes with a stick."
  6. "I should have known the books and shows had lied to me," Elizabeth lamented - but it was a good-natured lament, accompanied by a wry grin and a dutiful acceptance of her borrowed tools. "If either of you find a bolder trap or secret dinosaur shaman or something, you have to tell me." She knelt down in her assigned grid and did her best, an uncharacteristic focus driven largely by the novelty of the task. "It's really not too bad," she said, shifting a whole lot of nothing from a collection of sand. "I can see how it'd get old after a while, but it's still kind of...I don't know. Meditative?" She paused, squinting up at the larger grid space, and then the ruins beyond. "I'm not going to switch career plans or anything, but even if this is all that comes from this trip, I'm glad I came out. It's been interesting to learn and try something new."

  9. Elizabeth snapped a salute and broke off for the girls' pod before anyone could renege on the bunk deal - almost as soon as she was inside she threw her bag up on it, to mark her territory. She was pretty sure that's how it worked. It was, at the very least, a setup worth admiring before she opened her back up for clothing that was more work-worthy and less travel-worthy. When she came back she'd traded her breezy dress and wide-brimmed hat for a loose white blouse tucked into practical, simple tan cargo pants which in turn rested over a pair of rough-looking work boots. For all her newfound power of many pockets, her mask didn't seem to be anywhere to be found - but anyone who knew her properly also knew better than to believe such a thing. She did at least have a neckerchief in her signature blue tied around her neck, for fashion or dust or both. "Reporting for duty," she said, still grinning. "I, um, did not bring tools, because I don't own any. I may have to borrow, or improvise."
  10. "Bunkmates!" Elizabeth cheered - less a childlike exclamation and more genuine glee at the novelty of it all. "Are there bunks? Can I call top bunk? I feel like that's the correct and traditional thing to do." She shrugged, turning her attention back to the actual conversation at hand without waiting for, or expecting, an answer. "Vandalism here seems like it'd be pretty risky. If you get away with it because everyone's deaf in their cans, that's one thing, but if you screw up you've pretty much smacked a beehive. I mean, people make bad choices all the time," she said, "but some choices are worse than most? Do you at least have cameras and stuff around?"

  13. That's an interesting use of Additional Limbs. I'm inclined to allow it, it's clever. Improved Grapple does not come free with Additional Limbs. This power allow you to use your normal number of limbs while grappling and still having your additional limbs free (which is very much like Improved Grapple - "... provide the benefits of the Improved Grapple feat ..."), or you can apply those extra limbs to a grapple to get a +1 bonus per rank in the power, decided when you actually go for a grapple check. You can't do both without actually buying Improved Grapple itself, and this is just the normal function of Additional Limbs.
  14. Fair enough on the fluff; the phrasing on the description is odd, but if you're tying the Attractive in her 'glow' and not the items more at the tail end of the sentence, then that's fine. If the Variable Descriptor is the traditional "slashing/bludgeoning/piercing", please use that instead.
  15. Fluff I like it! A simple, clean backstory with lots of potential and a fun theme. No complaints here at all. Crunch Mostly some edge-case or notational stuff here, nothing huge. Combat Per our House Rules on Abilities, 1/3rd (rounded up!) of a character's total defense mus be base defense. A character with +10 defense must have at least +4 of it be base defense. (You've also noted +10, not +7, dodge focus.) The knockback line is blank; should be +1/+2, by my read. Feats You've purchased 18 feats, not 16. Powers Confused by Additional Limbs. Does the character have four legs? The use of legs in activities like grappling is just assumed as part of the character's grappling bonuses (especially with Grappling Finesse - see also Black Widow's MCU fights - but honestly just in general for your on-the-ground wrestling types). Permanent is a flaw only for Continuous powers, indicating that you can't turn them off (e.g., Insubstantial (Permanent) for a character who can't become substantial and affect the solid world). Drain doesn't really fit that bill. If you instead meant to permanently drain someone's Wisdom (ouch!), that's the Incurable power feat. Minor notational thing, since the math still works out, but the Super-Senses line is missing its power point cost.
  16. Fluff Not knowing or caring about how you died seems very strange, but I suppose it speaks to the character's priorities! The 'daughter of death' description is very mythical and pretty rad, but it'll be worth considering what force of death acted as Death here, as there's no singular canonical 'Death' entity in the setting that I know of. Not something that has to be on the sheet, obviously, but standard character advice. I'm a bit curious about the "Super-Alive" line as-written - how does being super-alive render her attractive? Does super-healing heal unattractiveness? Are less-attractive people just less alive? Very confused. Crunch Skills: It may be worth noting the Attractive-modified skills in the Skills line, both for your/GM use in threads and for tracking skill caps, since Attractive's bonuses count against skill caps. I don't believe Attractive is violating caps here, but it's awfully close and that's going to be worth keeping in mind for future edits. Powers: The base form's Enhanced Attributes power pays for 4 points/16 ranks of skills, and spends 13 of them. What does "Variable Descriptor [Bone]" entail? Telekinesis (or, rather, Move Object) is 2pp/rank; two +1 extras and a -1 flaw is 3pp/rank * 8 ranks = 24pp, and two feats is 26pp, not 32, unless I've missed an extra somewhere.

Elizabeth glanced back and forth between the two newcomers with obvious delight, turning to greet them - but with indecision, turning from one to the other as if she didn't know quite what order was appropriate. "Hi! You're - ah, you're - ah. Hmm!" She stepped out of herself, one Liz becoming two as they each stepped up to shake a hand. "Hi!" said Liz, reaching out to shake Becky's hand before realizing too late that there was no free hand with which the towering woman could respond. Her shift to holding up both hands was almost graceful. "Liz. Do you want a hand with any of that? I've got spares!" The other Liz had more luck, holding out a hand in greeting and notably trying to not notice her double's faux pas. "Hi! Also Liz. How are you not an icicle? Abby, how is he not an icicle?"
  18. Masque didn't feel dead. She'd only felt what it was like to die once or twice, and neither of those had been crazy sand mage guardians, but this didn't feel like dying. And it didn't feel like fighting. And the voice didn't sound like failure. Which meant...! "Yeah!" she shouted into the blinding light, punching up with an arm she couldn't see. "Go Veronica! Go all of us! Mission complete"! Two sets of pleasant laughter faded into one, her double dissolving back into the magic from whence she'd come. The remaining Masque - the one and only - laughed for only a few seconds more before she trailed off, looking around. "....does, um. Does anyone know where the exit is?"

Elizabeth was trying to hold a straight face and was failing spectacularly, tears forming at the corners of her eyes as she made...a face. She tried to hide the lower half of that face behind her hands, and it really didn't help. "Abbyyyy," she said, with all the dignity of air escaping a deflating balloon. "Your sister's amazing. Is your whole family this great? Is this why you're so great?" She threw up her hands, at apparent loss with the situation. "Maybe it's what having a sister is like? I have maybe a billion brothers, but I don't have an awesome sister and my brothers definitely can't go through walls. Your family's great."

The question marks straightened out into exclamation points as she reached up to wave them away - her hand passed through, but they none-the-less dutifully dissolved into smoke and disappeared. "Thank you!" she said, trying to find her literal and metaphorical balance as she stood back up. "Nobody ever got better at anything without practice, so I try to have some fun with it. I'm Elizabeth - I'm Abby's roommate." She felt like she was supposed to hold out her hand. Do you shake hands with ghosts? Probably not while they're hugging people. "If it helps, I don't think anyone got through until it was over? And she didn't get hurt too badly, though I think she might have caught a the edge of something it did. It could have been worse, right?" She shrugged, gesturing with open hands toward her roommate. "But, um," she added, lifting her hands to point more toward the crown. "Are those supposed to do that? I think if we burn down our dorm right after a monster attacks we'll be in trouble."

Elizabeth had frozen in place, moving only her eyes to watch the ghost float through their room. The actual, literal ghost. A genuine specter. A cheerful grim shade. She realized that at some point she'd started saying those out loud, and tried to recover her dignity with a fair impression of a cough. "Um! Hello! You're actually...you know, we heard rumors, but, you know. Rumors. I almost didn't think, um." Abby was handling this so much better. Abby! Yes, sure, that was a safe topic. "I think she's okay? Maybe it's the cold?" The young teen leaned over to get a different angle on her roommate, three chalk question marks drawing themselves in the empty space over tousled white hair. "I've had my nose go pretty red when I go from out in the cold to a nice warm room, but I've never had my...all of me go red."

"It was worth slipping away just to be warm again," Elizabeth declared, sighing happily as the dorm air hit her. Snow-laden slippers and robe got abandoned as soon as she had a place to abandon them; the latter was also slightly wet, which she was trying very hard to imagine was not Krampus spittle. She liked that robe. She'd really hate to have to find a new one. The young trickster stretched, flexing from her feet up on tip-toes to her hands held high overhead, trying to shake off the last of her post-combat jitters. "Do you think they'll be okay? I think they'll be okay," she mused, dropping back down to her heels. She waved a hand, pajama shorts flowing down into comfortable, white linen pants before she sat cross-legged on her bed. "I feel really bad about whoever has to explain all that to the city, though. That's going to have gotten some attention."
  23. Masque ran a hand against her face, for all the good it did her - with her mask in the way it communicated the idea, at least, even if it did nothing to help the trickle of blood. "Oops!" she announced, cheerful but admonishing, wagging a finger at the sorcerer. "Rookie mistake, you took your eyes off the magician!" Another Masque fell from the sky, dropping directly between the two combatants, head-first with her cape spread and a crude smiling face drawn over her mask. "Misdirection!" she announced. The first one was missing once her duplicate had passed, but only for as long as it took to drive her staff into the sorcerer's ribs.
  24. Yeah, I'll have Masque re-roll that. Melee Attack REROLL vs. Sorcerer (Power Attack -5/+5): 1d20+15-5 14 Since that roll was less than 11, reroll mechanics bump it by +10 to 24. Hopefully that hits, or we're in trouble! DC25 Toughness save vs. blunt damage, as before. That's another HP down, which by my count brings her down to 3 (5 at start, -1 for the illusion stunt, +1 for the complication, -1 for the daze, -1 for the reroll).
  25. Teleport's typically a move action; it's full-round only if you want to teleport twice (two Move Actions) or do a much further-distance Full-Round Teleport, which generally propels one a distance measured in miles. For now she may be stuck fighting the sorcerer. So let's have her try what they were going to try last round. Masque Duplicate teleports over to the sorcerer and Feints at him as a standard action. She will Skill Mastery it to take 10, for a final Bluff check of 21, or 25 if Attractive applies. Bluff or Sense Motive to oppose or be flat-footed. She'll set up the real Masque, who will shake off the daze (-1 HP) and power attack the sorcerer. Melee Attack Roll vs. Sorcerer (Power Attack -5/+5): 1d20+15-5 12 ....uninspiring, though if the bluff worked and the Sorcerer's flat-footed defense is truly awful that'd be a DC25 Toughness save. I'll not try to reroll it without first knowing how the bluff went, though; she still has 3HP from her Luck Control, but it'd be her last HP from her non-powered pool, and she may be needing to Luck Control at people the way this has been going.
