  1. "Ooh, yes please," Elizabeth agreed, falling in line behind the rest as they made their way toward shelter. She carried her bag at her side, swinging free from one hand while the other held her hat down. She probably didn't need to hold her hat down, but it's just what one did when exploring a new place, surely. "The history, yes, but the quarters part too. I love what I've seen of this country so far, but I am not built for the sun. It's worth it to see your pyramid, but I'm never going to turn down some shade." She had a brilliant smile to go with that, every inch the well-meaning enthusiast. "How has the dig been going? Found anything new and exciting?"
  2. "Not to mention the weather and the sands, Mr. Not-Naming-Any-Foods," Elizabeth mused. If she seemed at all dismayed by Kam's admission of a princeless love life she sure hadn't shown it, having flashed him an impish grin and let the matter drop. "A little bit of shifting ground or the wrong storm at the wrong time and a big old wall would just collapse, but I guess the pyramids are big enough to stay." She leaned back, retrieving a pair of large sunglasses from her pocket in the much belated hope of soaking in the sights without having to squint. "It's one hell of a way to go, being big and important enough to get that kind of grave. Goals, I guess. How many of these have you been in, Veronica?"
  3. Masque Giant Krampus 2: Krampus Campus (3) Lair of the Mummy (6) Through the Mirrored Glass and Back Again (2) Ref point to Wraith, please.
  4. Aha! Hmm. She'll conserve resources for now, then; may as well eat the daze + bruise. If she has to she can always shake off that Daze with one of her shiny new hero points...huzzah, reaction-speed resources. For now, though, I'll save 'em.
  5. Masque Will Save vs. Confuse, DC16: 1d20+7 22 Fortitude Save vs. ???, DC16: 1d20+5 8 Duplicate Will Save vs. Confuse, DC16: 1d20+7 25 Fortitude Save vs. ???, DC16: 1d20+5 21 Statistically unlikely! I'm not sure what that Fortitude save represents, so I'm honestly not sure if it's worth re-rolling!
  6. Loathe as I am to inflict damage on my own characters, a reroll can't be lower than a natural 11; if it's 10 or below, you add 10 the die before applying modifiers. A rerolled 6 would be a 16, then, +12 is 28, which definitely hits.
  7. Elizabeth drummed her fingers together, carefully pondering the infinite array of questions and mischief that had been dropped into her lap before at least striking out the latter. For now. "....what is the best thing you have ever eaten?" she asked, leaning forward with conspiratorial tone. "Royalty seems like they'd get the really good food, or the really strange food, or the really good, strange food. Knowing what it would be like to grow up royal would be great, and I want those stories some day, but I can't do anything with those stories unless they're really juicy. I'm betting that it just wasn't as fun as it sounds and you aren't going to be married off to a neighboring prince to consolidate your kingdom's power." She paused, letting that one run back through her own ears. "....are you going to be married off to a neighboring prince? Because if so, never mind on the food, we can talk about food later."
  8. Elizabeth threw her hands up - or at least, as much as she could within the confines of their vehicle - mischief and delight written all over her face. "I knew it! Well, not it, not that exactly, but!" She dropped her hands, still grinning. "It was on the list. The list only exists on my head, but I had you down for either 'royals' or 'secret soldiers on a mission'. I guess 'royals' makes more sense, though - who'd send a soldier incognito to a school? Would you have to be older? That'd be weird." "I have so many questions now that the cat's out of the bag, but I guess we can save them for later?" The expression on her face did not look like she could save them for later. "Once we don't have to worry about evil sorcerers and mummy masks. I do get the secrecy thing, though, and I won't spread the word if you don't want me to."
  9. "Aye-aye, Captain!" Masque - the original? - gave a salute and vanished, her cloak twisting in on herself as she stepped from here to there, the sandstorm spitting her out just behind the Sorcerer. She'd never been so thankful for her mask as an actual, physical object over her face - it wasn't perfect protection, but she'd bet it was tougher than her skin in the face of particulate weather. "Sorry, but this location's been declared a no-evil-magic area," she said, dropping her crook-staff out of one sleeve and swatting her foe upside the head with it. It wasn't enough to hurt, but she'd been expecting her own backup, and had to improvise.... "It's being rezoned a park! Very touristy, you understand."
  10. Yeah, the Masques are going to go ahead and say hello to the Sorcerer, then. First things first, though: Tactics! Masque Duplicate will teleport over and attempt a feint: Bluff Check vs. Sorcerer (Feint): 1d20+11 12 ....super! Well, it's a good thing skills don't auto-fail. I don't imagine it'll be very hard for him to beat that, but it's a Bluff or Sense Motive check against being flat-footed, anyway - 16 instead of 12 if Attractive applies. If it succeeds, she'll Set-Up to pass the benefit to the other Masque. EDIT: The Masque duplicate isn't acting on the surprise round! Shame on me. Since I already rolled it, I'll proceed with the melee attack: Masque Prime will go ahead and teleport in too, and attack: Melee Attack Roll vs. Sorcerer (Power Attack -3/+3): 1d20+15-3 25 Assuming that hits, it's a DC23 Toughness Save vs. blunt damage. Initiative for the duplicate, for when we're out of surprise: Initiative Roll: 1d20+3 16
  11. Yep - normally she'd be flat-footed because it's the first round of combat and she hadn't acted yet, but she has Uncanny Dodge (Auditory) and only total concealment would take that from her. Huzzah, feats! Is the sorcerer within 300' teleport range?
  12. "I mean, we're probably supposed to stay and help...." Elizabeth was waffling, peering down at their Headmistress and the students and what sure sounded like some awful drama that she couldn't quite make out. Staying and helping would be the right thing to do, right? Cleaning up, making sure nobody was seriously hurt, following orders.... ...but it was awfully cold. "Cocoa sounds great," she decided, pulling her robe in around her pajamas now that she didn't have the panic and effort of the fight to sustain her body heat. "I don't think I have a lot I could add now that a big monster's not trying to kill us." She felt a little bit guilty, but the guilt was quickly buried under a fine layer of the impish feeling that she was getting away with something, and that was fun. She did at least furrow her brow as she made her way through the portal. "Do you think we still have any of the little marshmallows left?"
  13. "Mm, fair enough. Does anyone else belong around the dig?" Elizabeth was making absolutely zero effort to hide her sense of wonder at the sights laid out before her, watching the pyramids in the distance with eyes like saucers and an obviously barely-restrained urge to shove half her body outside the safety of the car for a better perspective. She had only the presence of mind to keep her voice on-topic, compartmentalizing tourism from heroics for as long as such a thing could last. "If I were trying to sneak into a dig," she said, watching buildings and cars as if they were more magical than anything back home, "which, I haven't, but if I did - I'd probably find or make or steal badges and go in as crew, so that nobody was asking questions. One of the cheap and crude ways to pull a magic act is to have everyone secretly in on it, y'know? Replace the whole team or audience, everyone but the mark, who's going to know and catch you until after?"
  14. Fortitude saves: Fortitude Save vs. environment, DC9: 2#1d20+5 10 19 May as well have the real Masque make the succeeding Notice check (can't have one's own duplicate showing one up!); for the sake of consistency, and not cheating, if I double-roll for something it'll always be ordered [real, duplicate]. Neither of them got a 35, though; 31's the best the Masques did, even with the bonus.
  15. Apologies; I need to get into the habit of checking the thread and not relying on email notifications. Since OOC and IC have the same thread name stuff's getting lost in my inbox. Notice Checks: 2#1d20+8+5 31 25
  16. Hmm. An interesting use of Boost. I think the math works out, but I'd probably note it as: Boost 6 (rapid strikes, Any Single Trait [2]; Extras: Total Fade; Flaws: Limited (adds Autofire, to Autofire 6)) {12AP/12AP} I'm willing to take pushback on that, though.
  17. Double-check the Enhanced Skills line - looks like you bought 12 ranks of skills, but it's noted as 10 in the powers section.
  18. Nice! Looks like mostly just some math stuff, on my end: Skills Might be worth double-checking the math on the skills - I count 35 ranks of skills, not 36, so you have a free point to put somewhere - but 36 ranks of skills would cost 9pp, not 6pp. Powers Damage 2 with four power feats would be 6pp total (2pp for the Damage, 1pp per feat), not 4pp - and thus it'd cost 6dp inside the device. You have 23pp of Enhanced Feats, not 24; it appears to be correct in the Powers tally, but not as-noted on the power itself. Precognition is normally 4 ranks of Super-Senses (and thus, 4pp); flawed to be Uncontrollable, it'd go from 1pp/rank to 1pp/2 ranks, and cost 2pp for the required 4 ranks. (Super-Senses math is obnoxious; blame the game designers!) That puts your Super-Senses over-budget: 6pp for the mental sense, 1pp for the danger sense, and 2pp for Precognition costs 9pp total.
  19. An interesting take on Gestalt! Let's see, here. Infinity Powers Communications 5 with a power feat would be 6pp, not 5. Looks like you bought 7 ranks of Super-Senses, not 9. Barring the changes above you've only bought 46pp of powers, rather than the stated 48, giving you two extra power points to play with. Eternity Abilities Double-check the abilities tally line; looks like Charisma got dropped by 2 and it got reflected in the final total but not the math leading up to it. Combat With flat Dexterity and Improved Initiative 2, Eternity would have Initiative +8, unless I've missed a +2 bonus from somewhere. Skills You cannot take 10 with Concentration, and thus it cannot benefit from Skill Mastery. Powers What specific trait is Boost boosting? Empyrean Saves Double-check the tally line here: 0 + 0 + 10 = 12. Skills As above, Concentration cannot benefit from Skill Mastery.
  20. Elizabeth squinted at the sun and conjured a white, wide-brimmed floppy hat before disembarking, pulling it over her head in a vain attempt to shield herself from the wrath of an afternoon sun. It also might have helped her feel more like the kind of person who should be disembarking from a private plane in Cairo, but she tried not to dwell on that part - maybe she'd earn it for herself one day. "More seriously," she said, pulling herself and her bag up into one of the back seats, "is there anything we should watch out for? With the way our lives go, I'll confess that I'm really not sure where to draw the line between 'crazy traps are just archaeological fiction' and 'crazy traps are a normal part of adventuring life'. On a scale from 'dry history lecture' to 'Indiana Jones', what should we be keeping in mind besides not breaking anything old and important?"
  21. "If we ever go into my mask, I promise good weather," Masque noted, clothing adjusting to give her as much physical protection as she could - and even then she pulled her cloak in, warding herself against the sand as she stepped through the window and out into the storm. Twice, in fact, and no less - where one Masque stepped into the glass on one side, two stepped out, splitting up to flank Veronica and trusting Ouroboros to watch their backs. "Green fields, sun." "Dogs," the other Masque agreed. "Friendly dogs, who only want to play catch." Even from behind her mask she squinted, trying to look at the sun without...looking at the sun. "Do we know how we're getting the helmet in there? A good throw, maybe, or is it colder than it is bright? I could send the other me to drop it in by hand, but that'll get really unpleasant if it's as dangerous as it looks."
  22. Masque's going to preemptively Duplicate.
