    Past & Future Tense

Canister may have made it out of Nocturne's gravity well, but the detritus of a decaying rail infrastructure hadn't: little bits of metal and rotting wood were dragging themselves across the floor as she walked into the larger building, forming little patterns of implied violence behind her as they drifted back out of her metaphorical grasp. And literal grasp, perhaps, and definitely literal violence - though the lifting gesture she made to drag a couple spare railroad ties into her orbit was almost gentle. "Why stop now?" she asked. One of the small beams of wood went hurling its way toward Canister, missing its mark to splinter against a beam on the far wall. The second was a bit better-aimed, spinning out to crack in half against their armored flank. "Where's the satisfaction if we can't even understand why you keep showing up to kill us?"
  4. Well, simple turn for a simple mood: Nocturne's going to move into the bigger room and try to fling something at Canister's head. She'll do a mini power attack to boot (because while rolling I forgot that they used Snare and not Grapple). Gambling! 1d20+9-2: 12 [1d20=5] ...y'know what's fun? Hero point are fun. May as well burn one. 1d20+9-2: 10 [1d20=3] 3->13, so a 20 total; unsure if that hits. If it does, it's a DC26 Toughness check for Canister.

  6. Only caught a couple editing things: Double-check the skills: you've budgeted for Language 2 and gotten two extra languages, but listed Language 3. Final power point tally line is missing, though I believe the math checks out.

    Echohead

Mostly the little math stuff that creeps into any sheet: At +8 Toughness Echohead's Knockback would be -4, unless I missed some Impervious somewhere. The Saving Throws line lists 7pp of Reflex save, though the final cost is correct at 22pp. Double-check the cost on the suit; 2 ranks of a (presumably?) hard-to-lose device would cost 9pp, not 13, so it looks like you're overpaying. (If it can't be removed or disabled at all, then it's not a device!) Double-check the Powers tally; the pistol is listed at 13pp instead of 15pp, and I count a total of 126pp rather than 121, which puts you over-budget a bit. The Drawbacks line lists -2pp, though the drawback itself and final point tally lists -3pp.

    Past & Future Tense

Graviton didn't seem overly surprised by the destruction of his lab work, but he was certainly unamused; if he had anything to say on the matter, though, he wasn't going to compete with his granddaughter. Nocturne was incensed, hood pulled up over her head and most of her lower legs disappearing into a cloud of black and gold motes. Some of the motes were collecting into concerning blobs of color. "I said," she said, "out." The order was punctuated with a gesture, and the gesture was punctuated with Canister lifting off the ground and finding that their "down" was now directly out the door and into the middle of the building outside - intervening obstacles be damned. "Your rival's starting to annoy me, Cricket. Hit them for me?"
  10. Nocturne's going to try to use Move Object to grapple Canister. Ranged Attack Roll (Grapple): 1d20+9: 29 [1d20=20] ....yeah, I'll take that. Big mad? Big mad. Grapple Check: 1d20+21+5: 36 [1d20=10] So that's a DC36 grapple check for the angry future person; if they fail, she's going to use her move action to throw their butt out of the room and into the larger building (ending the grapple). Not sure off-hand how much they weigh, but she'd have an effective 60 STR and she's not trying to get them past a Chitin move action's range.

    Timeout

Neat! A very clean sheet indeed, I only found two little math things: With a Toughness bonus of +3/+7, Timeout would have a knockback modifier of -1/-3. You've over-charged yourself on Saves: you've bought 3 base ranks for Will, but paid for 4. Since the rest of the sheet math checks out, you have 1pp left to spend where you like.
  13. Note: this sheet has been replaced by a new version.

  15. "Did not know you in school," said Mara. She hadn't known anybody in school, because she'd never attended school, but that probably wouldn't help the conversation. People got weird about it. "Know what it's like to have to keep busy, though. If they were going to have a Patriot, we're probably lucky to have you?" She quirked an eyebrow at that thought, glancing Ellie's way. "All of us, I mean. America us. If there wasn't a Patriot and I was told they were setting one up I'd...worry. The kind of project where things go wrong very fast, or end up with worse legacy than they started. If the hate you get it that you're not a pushover and you're turning kids gay, you're probably doing something right." That last bit was accompanied by a thumbs-up, but her expression was so flat that it was hard to read. "Picked a hard role to play. Spotlights suck. Do your best?" Beat. "Do not raise your child in a houseboat this size."

  17. "Mmh." Mara's head cocked to the side, eyes unfocusing a little as her brain ran back over the course of the day. "....makes sense," she concluded, sounding a little less than surprised and a lot more like a computer finishing a math problem. There was an awkward beat before she added, "...in retrospect, anyway. Sorry." She brought her head back upright and tucked her hair back behind her ear. "Did not really suspect before but - yes. Reconciles? Never quite sure what to say here. Glad you trust us enough to tell us, especially after only just getting to know me. Apologies if earlier conversation seemed harsh when we didn't know."
  18. New month, new counts! As ever, if you think that something's gone awry please let me know - and don't forget that Late Thread Counting exists if something came up and you couldn't get your threads posted in time. --------------------- Ari Rainshadow: 0 posts = 0pp + 1 (guide) = 1pp AvengerAssembled Angelic: 0 posts = 0pp + 1 (ref) = 1pp Dr Archeville Horrorshow: 0 posts = 0pp + 1 (ref) = 1pp EternalPhoenix Effigy: 0 posts = 0pp + 1 (ref) = 1pp Fox pending Gizmo Chitin: 0 posts = 0pp + 1 (ref) = 1pp Kaede Kimura Shooting Star: 2 posts = 1pp KnightDisciple Patrioteen: 0 posts = 0pp + 1 (guide) = 1pp Nerdzul Nightscale: 2 posts = 1pp Spacefurry Paper: 4 posts = 1pp Blackstaff: 0 posts + 1 (GM) = 1 post = 1pp Chimera: 0 posts + 1 (GM) = 1 post = 1pp GM: 1 post * 2 = 2 TheAbsurdist Jotunn: 0 posts = 0pp + 1 (ref) = 1pp Thevshi Multi-Girl: 0 posts = 0pp + 1 (ref) = 1pp Tiffany Korta Zhenschina-voin: 0 posts = 0pp + 1 (ref) = 1pp trollthumper Cavalier: 0 posts = 0pp + 1 (ref) = 1pp

  20. "The science is complicated," Mara said in an uncharacteristic show of decorum, not quite answering the question she'd been asked. She'd quietly plucked the bill off the table as soon as seemed polite - she wasn't one to fight over paying but she wasn't going to not enjoy one of the perks of running her own mildly successful business. "Not as simple as smashing together chromosomes. Not much of a super-biologist, not sure how much I trust someone else to handle the technology things, plus other complications. My body chemistry is...." She was still holding the bill with one hand, but gave a concerningly vague hand wiggle with the other. "It's complicated," she said. "And, but, that's just my side. Two-person discussion." Card in the bill holder, bill holder at the edge of the table for pick-up and payment processing. "Can't rule it out, might be good. Wouldn't ever say Yolanda isn't enough."
  21. A little late, with our apologies - counts & edits were largely done during March, and then life got in the way as ever and we didn't realize they hadn't gotten posted until this weekend! 22. "I married a doctor," Mara deadpanned, eyebrows raised. "'Everyone' who matters is just my mother, but she was delighted. She was...not around for a long time." Mara paused, tapping a finger on the table and searching for a way to explain that without raising more questions. "Not her fault. Think she was...surprised, but initially just happy to be part of my life. Got a lot of hints she was disappointed she wouldn't get more grandchildren. Otherwise very supportive." She cocked her head, hair spilling out of place as she spooled a few mother/daughter conversations back through her head. "Worries about Ellie's job." And Mara's own. "Ellie won her over, though. Mostly just get phone calls when something makes the news. Very lucky - our relationship is...odd." Her mouth did something that wasn't quite a smile and wasn't quite a frown, but she shrugged and ran a hand along the side of her head to try to get her hair back where hair should go. "But I have one good parent. Many don't have that. Yours might surprise you when she evaluates missing her own daughter's wedding."
  23. "I turned the algorithm inside out until it stopped doing that," said Mara, as if that was a perfectly normal thing to have done. "Get lots of weird online accreditation ads now, though. Not sure it's an improvement." Mara did not have a college degree; she still wasn't sure if or how an algorithm had figured that out. She tapped her fingertips against her mug, tap-tap-tap, as she mulled several things over at once. "People already vote by fame or because they're told to," she said, "capes don't change that - would bet a hero arguing for a party would sway opinion of the hero more than opinion of the party unless they're...the Centurion, or similar. Would also have to bar actors and athletes and influencers from political spheres to make meaningful impact. Not going to hold the old Patriot against the new one, though - willing to judge them on their own terms." "Nobody on the League is elected; Patriot's just one more unelected person. They represent us or they don't." She shrugged, running a hand back through her hair in a futile attempt to get it to stay. "Understand why the government would find it comforting to have someone on the team, not really bothered by it, but think the League has better track record than government. Job's also simpler, probably, but I've met a couple and like them better than most politicians. Probably wouldn't mind too much if the plant goddess was on the ballot, as long as she was there honestly. Wouldn't vote for the dragon. Would be very suspicious of the voice, but only because his specific power is abusable to get and keep that position."
