  1. Good enough for me! APPROVED!
  2. Combat Because game designers don't feel like being helpful, your flat-footed defense is actually half your base defense rounded up...because it's your dodge bonus that rounds down. As such, Uplink's flat-footed defense is a +2, not a +1. Powers I'm afraid the core book betrayed you in a way you couldn't have anticipated. The Ultimate Power book overrides the core book when it comes to powers, and it updates the Deflect power (emphasis mine): This is not something I'd expect you to have known ahead of time, but it does unfortunately mean that Deflect is under-budget on your character. :( Fortunately, such weird updates to powers are pretty rare.
  3. Initiative Roll (Speed of Thought) (1d20 + 9=12) Bleh. Welp, Mara can't make DC20 with skill mastery alone, so I'll have to roll for it. Notice Check, DC20 (1d20 + 5=13) Nnnope. Slightly distracted by the attack, I guess!
  4. Dragonfly smiled despite herself at the praise to her own science, relative to the better-known Knights, but it was hidden behind her helmet...and an incoming stream of data grabbed her attention before she had a chance to reply. That was interesting. With other, more diplomatically-capable heroes handling the talking (and a reassuring lack of trust from her peers) she turned the lion's share of her attention over to the only remaining foreign signal on her suit comms. Yes, she sent back, an almost organic stream of data - binary, like Pink's original message, accented but no less fluent. I can understand you. Binary - interesting choice. Robots, I'm guessing. Strong AI? Explains interest in danger to inorganics. Does not explain deception, though.
  5. "No ghost?" Wraith peered at the spectacle in confusion, eyes wandering her face in formation a bit as she took in the sights. "I do not understand. What could alter their minds and do that without magic or--" Those eyes shot open, large, black voids on the front of a silver body that was already changing. "<Vettorin>," she hissed, knees reversing and legs thickening into powerful, clawed leaping appendages. "The little eater. Ghost Girl, nanites!" the alien translated, hurling herself off the building to come crashing, one spiked hammer-fist first, into the angel. "Aggressive nanotechnology!"
  6. Move action: Wraith goes Combat Mode. Elongation 1 (5ft) [2pp] Leaping 2 (x5; 75' running long jump / 18' high jump) [1pp] Strike 5 (Feats: Improved Critical [19-20], Mighty) [7pp] 2+1+7= 10pp Standard action: Charge the angel. Melee Attack Roll vs. Angel (melee; Charge +2): 1d20+11+2 33 ....uh. That'll do! I'll go ahead and just take the +5 bonus crit effect, for a DC31 Toughness save. Wraith is at -2 defense until the start of her next turn. As she's the only other person immediately nearby, she'll be interposing for Nightingale for the moment.
  7. "Anything that can open portals to other worlds and control biology well enough to convert other living creatures probably isn't limited to stinging," Gaian Knight frowned, eyeing the hole with clear but thoughtful distaste. "I don't like the idea of you going in there alone, especially when we'd have no way to contact you - and you'd have no way to contact us - when or if something went wrong." "On the other hand," mused Tiamat, not looking particularly concerned with Frost's likely impending danger, "it'd free up the rest of us to clean up here. Nothing so far has been a huge threat; we're not short of high-speed travel options if something went wrong. While he's off in bugland, we could be clearing out other queens, other nests. I'd kinda like to see how well those eggs burn, if they aren't all going into portals like this one."
  8. Gaian Knight: Initiative Roll: 1d20+0 19 Tiamat: Initiative Roll: 1d20+1 7
  9. Initiative Roll: 1d20+7 23 I imagine Wraith can supply that. Worst case she can shapeshift the detection and connect it to her past education. Nanites are dangerous on her world. Things that consume metal to reproduce are the closest thing they'd have to a disease!
  10. One would almost swear that space-crickets could be heard chirping for a moment as the silence hung over their offer, but that silence was shortly and unceremoniously broken when Dragonfly made a noise that sounded suspiciously like a humorless snort. "....no?" she answered, sounding more bemused than uncertain. "No. Don't mean to offend, would genuinely like to see Star Knight science some day, but not interested in trading. My science - this science, not all mine, admittedly, Farsiders and Miss Americana do good work - is not for sale at any price. Available by necessity only, and you do not demonstrate that requirement." "Also not sure your offer is genuine," she added, cocking her head at them. "Not keen on being 'deputized' anyway - not really a team player - but have at least some reason to be suspicious of a large group of - am told - decimated space police happening to show up with mysterious, unclear, sort of threatening deals. Not big on the trust thing."
  11. "You'd think," Gaian Knight replied, he and Tiamat having scrambled to their feet. "I'm not sure we have much in the way of external defenses, and I don't know who we have on board who could rig something in time - ah, no offense. Our resident super-geniuses just don't seem to be here." He frowned, tapping a foot as his little rock bent and twisted to reflect his pondering. "We have the Pegasus space-planes, too, but they aren't well-armed. We'd probably have better luck falling back to the planet." "It'd put 'em way too close to soft targets," Tiamat pointed out, though she didn't seem to have many better options. "The whole idea is to not let them hit Earth." "Yeah, but we aren't really equipped to deal with them otherwise - slow them down, maybe, or thin them out. Depending on their defenses, maybe we could use the Pegasus ships as big, expensive missiles."
  12. Gaian Knight/Tiamat >Incursion: Stop-Thrust (1) >What's Eating You? (1) Dragonfly >Incursion: That's Amore (2) Wraith >Incursion: Uploaded to the Cloud (2) >Necklace of Ropes (1) Eclipse >Incursion: The Conquered Flesh (3) Ref point to Dragonfly, please.
  13. "Not close enough to running," Dragonfly frowned, glancing over at the assembled machinery. Bits and pieces of it flitted through her mind, collecting together into their unified, space-bending whole...but there were too many gaps, too many missing parts. Not to mention the power.... "Worst case, could do something really stupid with it and my suit - get maybe a quick burst out of it. As likely to tear holes in spacetime, though." or violently fragment suit and occupant "Call it plan 'Z'. Option of last resort. Hey!" She directed the last part at the Star Knights, striding their way across the lunar surface - she'd brought up her force field when the comms had cut out, and while she wasn't overtly aggressive she'd been doing the hero thing too long to immediately take it down. Who knew why they'd shown up or what they were chasing? Or what was chasing them? "Either your 'assistance' cut off most communications or we have problems. Problems might be you. No offense."
  14. "Awww. Happy anniversary, princesse," Dragonfly replied, with a tone that betrayed her smile even behind her helmet. "Admittedly not how I'd wanted to spend it. Need to make sure we have a planet for many future ones, though. Which reminds me - have a surprise for you, once we're done here. Unfinished, can still show it off. Make up for spending the day - this day - on an orbiting rock watching me yell at--" "What?" Dragonfly's head snapped to the side, calling up her suit's communication suite. "That isn't...can't reach my home base, either," she confirmed, darkly. The tools coming out of her gauntlets retracted, plating snapping together with an ominous click. "Loss of contact to one point is accident or coincidence. Loss of contact to three - in three separate locations - is attack or anomaly. Considering circumstances...."
  15. Sorry the holidays and real life stuff pushed this back so far, folks. But here we are: the post counts for November 2014! Thanks, all, and congrats to those of you who earned PL bumps or new vet awards. As always, if I missed something, botched some math, or forgot to mention a bump or award, just let me know here or in chat/pms and I'll get it fixed right up. SPECIAL NOTICE: A number of sheets had some rather horrendous formatting problems that were preventing me from making edits (as in, the sheet had so many terrible, out-of-place tags that attempting to commit the pp edits would have ruined the formatting of the sheet; I genuinely don't know if these were an artifact of someone cutting & pasting out of a program like Word, or if the forum just decided to go crazy for those posts). I cleaned these up where I saw them, so those sheets should be in better shape now, but be warned that this required correcting some tags and such. Those who are particular about, say, which side of the colon their bold tag ends on should give their sheets a once-over just in case, and submit any corrections with their next character edits. 16. Indira may have been faster on the ground, but she wasn't about to complain; while she could glide if she really, truly had to, it involved stretching herself so thin she went numb. Even then, she'd be unlikely to get far without some fortuitous air currents. It made flying - even not under her own power - a pretty novel experience. She hummed to herself, features melting away and jacket disappearing to her body mass. "I hope it is a good hunt," she said, body streamlining into something a little more aerodynamic and easier to haul through the sky. "Though, perhaps, not too good," she added, amused. "I did not bring any metals with me, and I would feel bad if I was forced to eat someone's vehicle."

    I'm a Dummy

No worries. I've taken the liberty of cleaning up the DC block and moving the images off to the right of the sheet - I can't guarantee either is what you want them to look like, but it should make the sheet more manageable until you have a chance to submit your own edits. Delicious, delicious abuse of ref-ly power.
  18. Gaian Knight sat almost motionless, back to a wall as a small stone spun and circled in the air nearby - it had originally been some kind of sandstone, but periodically he'd wave a hand at it and it would change: obsidian, slate, ruby, granite. That second-to-last one had gotten Tiamat's attention, as she sat not far away looking incredibly bored, and it had earned him a fair bit of suspicion. "You've bribed me with plenty of gems." "Yes." "For my hoard." "Yes." "And they've ALWAYS been real? You didn't make any of them?" "I never made any." "...you're sure." "I'm sure. I was sure the last fifteen times, too." There was silence again while she grumbled to herself, looking over toward the doorway to the command center. "So if they win, we can go home. If they don't win, we get to do something exciting. Waiting sucks."
  19. Running a successful technology company, being the boss of bright minds and coordinating multiple projects both simple and complex, had done exactly nothing for Dragonfly's ability to be hands-off on interesting, big projects. The subject of this particular project didn't help that any, either: she'd freely admitted that this technology didn't work on quite the same principles as her own suit, but she still considered it sensitive enough that she wasn't keen on letting anyone but their little group of Earthlings work on some of the pieces. One of those pieces was sitting on the ground in front of her, mostly-complete, the many-jointed little arms deployed from her suit gauntlets carefully welding something in its innards. "W- no, don't touch that," she shot at one of the Farsiders she'd drafted as an assistant; it was more scolding than malice, but it wasn't the first time, either, and she no longer even turned around to look. "It's calibrating. Blue one - the blue one - yes, that one. Blinking means it's done mapping local space. Go plug it in." She waited until he'd gone before sighing and resuming her work. "Think I could just buy little masks and environment suits for employees, fly them up here?" she asked Jill, snorting to herself at the mental image. "Not used to working with Farsiders; keep wishing I had a dozen Tresses instead. Better at taking - following - instructions." She sat back, inspecting her work for a moment. "But. I have you, and that's most important. Keeps me honest," she joked, turning to look at her girlfriend. "No more orbital death rays. Good mad science. Environmentally friendly, won't be used to show them all!"
  20. "I confess that I am still not as familiar with your spirituality as I should be," Indira admitted, tugging at her light jacket - a habitual, slightly uncomfortable motion that betrayed its authenticity - a true garment of cloth and string over an outfit that, despite appearances, wasn't cloth any more than its 'wearer' was meat. Like her necromantic ally, she'd spun a few lies to get here - the largest of which had been insisting to her parents that she was studying at college, taking her courses very seriously and certainly not getting into trouble. What they didn't know wouldn't hurt them. "Outside of my friend's specific case, of course. But if they have left notes saying they are going to a 'better place', it is possible that they are genuinely accepting of their fates, whatever those may be. Even if deceived, they may be...at peace with whatever has happened."
  21. Tagging.
  22. Gaian Knight looked ill, unsure where to put his eyes where they'd take in the least horror. The...thing...drew his attention when it spoke, though, and it hardened his stance and his gaze, little rock shards twisting behind him as if eager to be set loose. "I think the bees are happier where they are. I know I would be. And you're joking about this? About what you've done? Look at yourself! Look at-" "No deal," Tiamat interrupted, sneering. "New deal, though, so try this one out: you tell us how you got here and how far you've spread, and I'll set you on fire." "Or you'll set her on fire," Gaian Knight corrected, though from his flat tone he apparently shared her sentiment. "Yesssss," she hissed, through an unfriendly smile full of entirely too many sharp teeth. "Or I'll set you on fire. Please, tell us about your...glorious hive."
