  1. Gaian Knight & Tiamat (Freedom League), Dragonfly, and Wraith are all up for this, though I'm happy to drop one or two to make room.
  2. "Give the Knight a prize for understatement of the cycle," Eclipse replied, though there was a lot of concern and no venom in the statement. She settled into her chair at the helm, tail softly clicking as its segments pulled back together into a slightly shorter length. "That thing didn't strike me as a hive mind so much as a...I dunno. It's like it ate everything around it - didn't take people over so much as just digest 'em, chew up their souls and suck out the useful bits to make itself bigger and stronger." She sighed, holding her head in her hands for a moment. "I really wish we had something on this ship that could glass a planet. Rock, Nae-Dae, remind me to buy something that can glass a planet."
  3. "I am not interested in dying for Omega," Wraith replied to the drones; in an odd counter to more human behavior, the sudden threat seemed to calm her, rather than work her up further. Her voice was even, measured, ever-polite and almost...apologetic, as if they'd simply invited her to a party she had no interest in attending. The glinting scythes that grew down from what used to be her arms were somewhat less apologetic. She strode forward, slowly accelerating into a run as those blades spun and cleaved, one flinging out to dig into a drone and drag it closer for the final kill as the other swept sideways and through another pair, one heavily-clawed, multi-jointed leg sweeping out to grab and pin a fourth as it attempted an off-balance and weakened response to the sudden aggression. "I do not believe I am interested in dying for anything this place stands for," she added, a fluid-dripping, drone-mauling blender of scythes, claws, and an oddly artful economy of motion that seemed to be keeping to a drumbeat nobody else could hear - a dance of mercury and practiced, surgical carnage. "I do believe I would die to stop it, but I do not think that will be necessary today."
  4. What, a chance for Wraith to go all scythe-hands, AA? It isn't even Christmas yet! Move Action: Shapeshift. Elongation 2 (10') [2pp] Enhanced Feat 1 (Power Attack) [1pp] Strike 5 (Feats: Improved Critical [19-20], Mighty) [7pp] 2+1+7= 10pp Standard Action: Charge into battle. Melee Attack Roll vs. Drones (whip-blades; Power Attack -5/+5) (1d20 + 11 - 5 + 2=17) With the flanking bonus, that should be more than enough. Field Battle rules didn't say anything about takedown attack that I could see, alas, but hopefully it'll do. DC31 Toughness; Wraith is at -2 defense until her next turn. She will be (probably unnecessarily!) interposing for Eve as possible.
  5. "Ahh, you're a beautiful sight," Eclipse sighed. She holstered her weapon, took a few steps back, and made a running leap through the opening cargo doors - and she did it in a too-high, too-long graceful arc implying that either her species was a bit faster than it looked, or not all her alterations were visible to the naked eye. She hit the cargo bay in a forward roll, using the momentum and her tail to end up back on her feet and in a dead run for the cockpit with the doors still opening behind her. "This, see, is why you don't settle on engineers. You get the best, or the best gets you, and then you always have wind under your wings. Nae-Dae, if Rock gets on board before I get to the pilot's seat, point us straight at the sky and race the Knight to the atmosphere. There's nothin' left on the ground that wouldn't be made better by a face full of thrusters."
  6. Un-archiving at player's request. Note: House Rules on the Awareness super-sense have changed since this character was last active. Please account for the new rules in your next character edits.
  7. Archived at player's request.
  8. "Good job, Rock," Eclipse congratulated, sheathing her sword but leaving her gun in her hand as she leaned through the hole to survey their newly-hostile surroundings. "I was gettin' sick of hearing that thing talk anyway. Not going to lie, though: I was kinda hoping it'd shut down all of them, too. Nae-Dae?" She put a hand to her commlink, looking out in the direction of her ship. "Nae-Dae, my little miracle-worker, I am really hoping you have good news for me. We could use some air support and a quick getaway." She paused for a moment, taking pot shots at the once-normal citizenry, hoping to slow them down. "....really hoping those don't climb, too. Remind me to invest in a jet pack or something. Rock, if we've gotta, what're the odds we can charge through that and get to the other side?"
  9. Gaian Knight/Tiamat >Incursion: Holding the Fort (5) >What's Eating You? (6) 5+6= 11 posts Dragonfly >Incursion: Three If By Space (4) 4 posts Wraith 0 posts Eclipse >A Simple Job (3) >Incursion: The Conquered Flesh (16) 3+16= 19 posts Ref point to Dragonfly, please.
  10. Eclipse eyed the attacking figures, free hand descending onto the hilt of her sword. "Echo...?" "Linguistics indicate loss of the individual," the voice from her hip confirmed, the box hanging from her belt lighting up. "Its use of 'we' and overall philosophy would appear to imply not so much a hive mind as a single, controlling ego. 'Ego' is perhaps the operative word," the AI added, with a mix of curiosity and disdain. "I believe it is using the majestic plural. These people are lost." There was a flash of polished metal as her saber cleared its sheathe - the blade was reminiscent of a gently-curved Earth scimitar, and in its owner's hand it gracefully parried a follow-up attack and then cut through one of the monsters like paper. "Yeah, thought so. Nae-Dae! Please please tell me my ship's up and running again."
  11. Eclipse will draw her sword and melee the antibody that tried to attack her. Melee Attack Roll vs. Antibody (sword): 1d20+7 10 Ehhh....naw. Her first use of the sword can't be that poor! Melee Attack REROLL vs. Antibody (sword): 1d20+7 25 That's much better. A roll of 18 with Improved Crit 2 is a crit; DC27 Toughness. Eclipse loses 1 HP for the reroll.
  12. "It's a...it's going to be a little too narrow to maneuver that many people at once without being able to see them all," Gaian Knight answered, his voice a little hoarse at the all-senses offense. The streets had been bad enough, but in close quarters like this.... "I could do it in a pinch, but it wouldn't really be any faster without making it a little...rough-and-tumble. I can make us a clean path, though." At his gesture, earth from outside flowed inward, folding out of itself like a living thing, a growing pathway hovering couple inches off the floor to give them a solid, carrion-free footing across the lobby and up the stairs. "Come on," he said, striding forward with as much composure as his sense of smell would allow him. "The sooner we figure all this out, the sooner we can get out of this place."
  13. Initiative Roll (1d20 + 7=10) Bleh.
  14. Sense Motive check vs. Communion (ECHO +5) (1d20 + 15=32)
  15. "The void isn't known for its mercy," Eclipse corrected, looking grimly down through the hole...and recoiling more with distaste than fear when the eye appeared. Her tail curled around her leg like a serpent, and she set her stance as wide as possible to give it leverage in slashing and chipping at the metal around Rock's hole. "Next time," she said - to herself as much as anyone - "next time I'm packing explosives. A lot of them. A whole backpack full of mining charges, just for situations like these."
  16. Eclipse'll join Rock in trying to break the floor. Lacking his sheer brawn, though, she'll just try to chip at his cracks with her tail. Melee Attack Roll vs. Floor (tail strike; Power Attack -5/+5) (1d20 + 13 - 5=25) DC27 Toughness.
  17. Eclipse pulled the oblong item off her belt, smoothly changing her grip as it snapped open into a two-barreled blaster, handle joining the two halves toward the business end. Said business end immediately discharged a series of what looked like plasma bolts into the information hub they'd been looking at. It was the kind of firepower one normally associated with a military rifle, though she apparently couldn't sustain it - after the first volley she had to lower the weapon, ionized air drifting off its end. "You know, I agree," she said, casting her eyes around for unseen threats. "Removal is the only option; shame it won't be us getting removed. But Nae-Dae, if we drop off comms or start spouting this Communion nonsense, you get my ship off-planet. Don't wait for us - and bring back an army."
  18. Well, then. Eclipse is going to quick-draw and power attack straight into the hub, it being the only vulnerable-seeming thing she's aware of at the moment. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Hub (blaster; Power Attack -5/+5) (1d20 + 13 - 5=17) Hopefully hits, given that it isn't moving yet (and probably flat-footed, for all that it may or may not even have feet). DC27 Toughness vs. damage if it does.
  19. Initiative Roll (1d20 + 8=25)
  20. Eclipse didn't draw her gun, but her hand was certainly staying near it - and there was a soft clicking noise as her tail extended, each segment pulling away from its neighbors to reveal another segment underneath. The sound was only slightly less sinister than the soft ssshhht of the heavy tip unsheathing a long, sharp spur the size of a grown biped's forearm. "Right, well. Evil, then," she observed, "or as close to as I've ever seen - even slavers don't take the mind and the body. I don't imagine you'd tell us how to reverse your...'refashioning', yesno? We'll just be on our way, otherwise. Rock, anything you want to ask the nice evil voice before we make an excitingly violent exit?"
  21. Eclipse clapped her hands over her ears the moment the keening started, and she didn't remove them until the voice coalesced...and even then, it was with the ginger caution of someone who'd just been bitten and wasn't sure if they were going to get bitten a second time. "Ah-hah-hah-howw," she expressed, grimacing. "'Get ear implants', they said. 'It's so useful to hear ultrasonics', they said. Whoever designed these things without an off switch clearly never had the displeasure of meeting you lot." "Speaking of which," she added, digging into her ear with one pinky finger as she sized the...static?...up, "no, we're not 'of you'. T'whom are we speaking, so that we know just who we're not of?"
  22. "....huh. A box of stolen memories, is it?" Eclipse frowned to herself, stalking around the room inspecting the images as they passed; at a couple she made a little hissing sound that apparently took advantage of her extra set of canines. "Okay, so, worth noting: there are - were - drones in the area. Not sure where the suckers went, but you can bet they noticed us landing at some point. Nae-Dae, keep an eye out, just in case," she added, touching her commlink. "In the meantime, I'm pretty sure this thing is some kind of evil, and everything coming through touches that big deal on the ceiling. Assuming we don't have a good way to reverse this mess, all in favor of blowing it up?"
  23. Eclipse Notice Check (1d20 + 10=28) Knowledge (Technology) Check (1d20 + 6=7)
  24. "...uh uh. You do not want to know, Star Knight." Eclipse's irises had been visible in the darkness even to normal eyes, soft purple circles inspecting their surroundings; at the infrared images they supplied, though, the light dimmed and she could be seen putting her hand on her blaster. "Or, I guess, you might. Either there are people in the walls, or someone's got a real weird design fetish catering to folks who see heat patterns. From the looks of things we want to go up - or we really, really don't want to go up - but I dunno how we're supposed to get there without cutting ourselves a fancy new trap door."
  25. "...hrm. Telling people the truth would certainly stir things up," Gaian Knight mused, glad to have something a little more down-to-earth to mull over. "Even as a threat to a far-away place, people will start assuming things, and our attempts to reassure them will seem a little hollow. People don't like feeling helpless. Still...as much as it'd worry people, it'd also be the best way to make sure people are looking for incoming threats, and it'd be the easiest way to get as much help as possible safeguarding things here. I guess my vote would be for making sure people know what's going on." "And mine against," Tiamat countered, "if it counts. The League would know most of the people worth contacting anyway, if we need the help. Spooking the sheep isn't a good plan. Plus, it'd give the scum of the earth that much more notice that things are bad so they can start causing trouble. Not much of a leap to go from 'bad things happening to space allies' to 'hey, nobody's seen Daedalus for a while'." "If we don't inform the people, and they find out the hard way, we look that much worse for having kept it a secret," he pointed out, though from his tone it was largely for the sake of the debate. "And?" She snorted, shrugging. "Better safe and hateful than hurt and loved. They can think what they want. Ain't my job to be liked."
