  1. Ah, just a formatting issue, then. I've tweaked that so the powers appear to be part of the same array slot, rather than flight being separate by virtue of indentation. APPROVED
  2. Teagan chuckled, draining the last of the liquor out of her bottle. "What my mother gave me to shake wouldn't fit in the building," she pointed out, tossing the now-empty bottle off to join the rest of the debris. "When they talk about 'shaking your tail', that ain't the kind of tail they're talkin' about. Not that there's anybody around here to really appreciate how great a tail it is," she snorted. "The human body's great and all, and it's mine, and it's got a great tail. For a human. But if there was anyone around who appreciated such things, they'd tell you: I am an awesome dragon." She paused for a moment, having made her way back over the kicked-out glass and onto the street, trying to re-orient and remember the path they'd taken to get there in the first place. "....right. That way, I think; don't spend much time in this part of the city, but had to break up some stupid drug pusher thing a while ago."
  3. "Oooh! You meant me," Mara replied, with shock so artificial it may as well have been suspended in the air by fishing line. "Well. Simple mistake. Don't know why I'm stubborn, though. Just because I'm a perfectionist, refuse help from most people, don't like changing my habits, don't settle, started a business with no formal-" She paused, looking up to read Ellie's expression. Literally 'reading', really - a solid grounding in microexpressions and the like had done wonders to offset a lifetime of stunted social contact. "....yeah. Not sure I'm comfortable here either," she agreed, frowning - there was no real ire to it, just a vague discomfort. "Too many people on machines. Don't like it. Can't help them all, and too many bad memories. So! Locker rooms, mmh?" She squeezed her girlfriend's hand, speeding up just a bit to pull her along at a slightly more brisk pace in what was...probably the right direction. Maybe. "See: engineering. No bile. No vomit. No...weird fluids. Just grease, dirt, oil. Coolant. Don't know how you do it."
  4. Nothing wrong with this sheet that I can see. APPROVED!
  5. Alright. Crunch time, then. Combat With a melee attack bonus of +4 and a str penalty of -1, your grapple modifier is +3, not -1. Saves Those are some really, really low fort and reflex bonuses. I'm willing to approve it even still, but keep in mind that anyone wielding a power with a fort or reflex save is gonna rock Acosm here. Powers Flight 1 is incorrectly noted as costing 24pp; it also, unfortunately, puts you 3pp over-budget as Flight 1 is not accounted for in your pp totals.
  6. The spear of metal certainly took Dragonfly by surprise; with her focus on the demon, she hadn't been expecting help or hindrance from outside parties. Still, this was decidedly 'help', and she hadn't survived this long as a heroine by letting such things get in the way of a fight. She cast her gaze sideways long enough to note who had thrown it, adding the attack to her mental list of Pitch's powers. She also hadn't survived this long without learning to take advantage of a good distraction. She circled the demon to get between it and the door it had wanted, still-impaling blade spitting and flickering as it woundlessly rotated through the thing's body. "Not a good sign for your peers," she cautioned, cocking her head toward where the other fights had been taking place. "Suspect this is going to go a lot faster now. Last chance to talk."
  7. "She does take after you," Mara agreed, nodding wisely. "Only makes sense. It's a good feature, anyway. Too many jerks and stupid people in the world. And stupid jerks. Besides," she added, glancing up at Ellie, "given her family, good odds of having to be stubborn in...unusual hobbies. Keeps you going when little else does." She wasn't really sure whether to smile or worry at that thought, and opted to push the idea aside for later by casting an eye across their surroundings. "Prolonged care ward?" she guessed - or half-guessed, anyway, one of her trains of thought running back through her memory for signage they'd passed while the majority of her focus had been elsewhere. "Mmh - 'long-term care'. Terminology. Nice, though; peaceful."
  8. Probably should have gotten some attacks in here earlier; thought I'd wait for an IC post or two to figure out where people are, exactly! Not sure where Pitch popped up from. Ah, well. Roll with it! And speaking of rolls.... Melee Attack Roll vs. Demon 2 (spatial blade) (1d20 + 11=25) DC26 Tou vs. damage, as ever.
  9. The cheer fell from Mara's face for a moment - not truly gone, just momentarily replaced by a more traditional bored grump as she reflected on work. "Feh," she opined. "'Exciting'. Just spent nine hours making a small circuit board slightly smaller for a tech company that wants to break into phone markets. Thrilling. Could have fit same technology in earbuds, but nooo. Fancy pastel animal-shaped phone case!" That last bit was accompanied by a flat, hand-waving impersonation of what was probably an overly-excitable marketer or engineer, though she couldn't quite sell the act with a face full of unimpressed frustration. She snorted, her good cheer returning as she re-linked her hand with Ellie's, resting her head on the young woman's shoulder as they reached the top of the stairs. "Still. Worth it for adorable moppets. Small price to pay. She did ask me for advice on changing chords, but didn't say why at the time - adorable moppets who think they're sneaky with secrets. Didn't know she had a song in mind; will have to make sure to listen soon." She chuckled - a relatively rare, soft sound. "Going to be better than me, at this rate. Pretty sure I have her beat on the double bass, though."

Indira shivered, her clothes and human features melting away into smooth silver. 'Human features' in this case apparently included being bipedal - even as her face became three black eyes on an otherwise flat metal surface, her knees reversed and brought her down to a pose and shape not too unlike some kind of alien warhound. "I may be able to track our three friends once we are outside," she hummed, turning her head up to look at her companions. "Hopefully they have not been able to get too far from us."
  11. "Aim to please. And it's why you bring doughnuts," Mara preened, Joanne's approval - and more importantly, Ellie's approval of that approval - reinforcing her good cheer. "Everybody likes doughnuts. People who like doughnuts but not sugar like bagels. Good for bribes. And I'd love a tour." She bumped her hip into her girlfriend's, adjusting their linked arms so that she could lace their fingers together and squeeze. "Would like to know about the place you work. Doesn't seem fair that you're always doing the visiting."
  12. "I'd be up for that," Gaian Knight agreed - and it was no sooner said than a trail of sand made its way in from the edge of the beach, pooling together into a hovering, circular mass that slowly smoothed over to sandstone. "Knowledge is never wasted, and I'm more than happy to help. Mind coming along and playing translator, Tiamat? Just in case they're talking about anything interesting when we fly by." Tiamat snorted, adjusting the tie that kept her hair back. "Can I fly in on my own wings, and declare myself queen?" "You can fly on the disk, as a human, and tell us what they're saying." "Fine," she replied, throwing her hands up in mock exasperation. "If you're going to be boring about it."
  13. Mara blinked for a moment as her brain performed a post-Ellie reboot, at which point she remembered that other people were a thing that existed and she had the decency to add her lighter blush to her girlfriend's darker one. "Mmh! Doughnuts, yes," she agreed, reluctantly taking her hands off the small of Ellie's back to dig a napkin and a maple bar out of her bag of goodies. These treasures she presented to Joanne with all the sheepish dignity she could muster. "Bon appétit." Self-consciously straightening her blouse, she turned back to Ellie. "Sorry, thought you could use some cheering up. Would ask how your day went but can sort of guess," she admitted, looking the medic up and down with a raised eyebrow. "Look like you could use a nap. Twenty naps. And many kisses."
  14. "Ellie!" Mara Hallomen was a relatively rare sight in hospitals, much less unannounced, but the young woman was unmistakable: dirty blonde hair, dark blue eyes, dressed up a clean blouse and jeans combo that managed to ride the line somewhere between 'professional' and 'I don't care too much if I might get a little dirt on this'. She was all smiles for her worn-out girlfriend, and she looked a bit worn-down herself, but still she managed to draw herself up in an approximation of seriousness and extended a polite hand instead of a warm hug. "Hello! M- I'm Mara. A completely unremarkable and not at all important engineer from HAX, here to do maintenance on back-up generators the city commissioned for hospitals and clinics. My being here has no ulterior motive or suspicious timing of any kind." She almost - almost - managed to hold that air of professionalism as she gestured at a box and tray she'd sat down on the nearest level surface while she'd waited. "Also, have coffee. And bagels. ....and doughnuts. If anyone I happen to run into happens to want them."
  15. "Hhhr." Tiamat opted to kick in a few of the glass shards the more graceful Sekhmet had hopped over, breaking the jagged shards out of her way with one boot before stepping back inside. "I guess," she admitted, snagging an over-turned whiskey bottle off one of the wall tables; she held it up, eyeing what liquid hadn't already escaped with a critical crimson eye. "S'not like the old days, though. They've got these things called clubs, but I was disappointed when I found out there wasn't much...y'know." She swung the bottle out in front of her, snorting. "...clubbing."
  16. As a point of clarity, speaking for the ref team, we aren't so much against anything anime as...extremely cautious, due to an unfortunate history: many of the players who've tried the hardest to make anime-influenced ideas work here have also been some of the most problematic (for reasons not necessarily related to the characters they made). It isn't that it can't be done - in fact, one of our long-term players is currently working on something of a guide for making such a conversion work, and I know we have at least a few characters with some non-western influence in them - it's just that it's a lot harder and has a bad track record. Plus, a lot of Mecha & Manga is...mechanically dubious. We've outlined some stuff in the house rules, and you're always welcome to ask if something is okay, but it's just not that great a book for crunchy game bits.
  17. Tiamat's fall to the ground upon the disappearance of her fallen foe was, perhaps, less than graceful - and she could be clearly seen to ponder, as she lay in a dignity-free heap, whether or not she could play it off as intentional or clever somehow. Ultimately she gave up, though, snorting into the dirt they'd managed to kick up. Fire burned outward from between her scales, and when it finally receded it left only a more upright, less saurian woman carefully adjusting her new jacket. "Having 'em just disappear on you kinda takes some of the fun out of it," she drawled, kicking spitefully at the prior location of the thunderbird. "The people and the villains. It's hard to find ones that aren't cowards and weaklings. Still!" She stretched, weaving her fingers and cracking them above her head. "Still, I sure feel better. Scratched at least an itch, y'know?"
  18. APPROVED! Welcome back, Shaen.
  19. Gaian Knight / Tiamat >Back In the Day (2) >Getting Your Shots In (3) 2+3= 5 posts Dragonfly >By All His Engines (1) 1 post Wraith >Necklace of Ropes (2) >Night Rings (1) 2+1= 3 posts Ref point to Dragonfly.
  20. "Hrmph - fine. It ends!" Tiamat surged forward through her own fire, wings providing speed rather than lift as she threw herself straight into the giant's knee. Great jaws with teeth like knives dug into the flesh there, all of the dragon's strength bent to the task of forcing their foe down on his feet....and the moment his leg could no longer support him she leapt to his back, all her scaled weight and the slightly uncoordinated flapping of her wings driving his face down into the pavement with a cement-cracking crunch. It took a couple seconds for her to sort herself out from the fall, but when she did she stood atop the Hekatonkheires' unconscious body and announced their feat to the world: a spread-winged, fire-tinted, window-rattling bellow of pure and primal victory.
  21. Fluff question: her backstory and sheet seem to disagree on whether she's a robot, or a living volunteer with cybernetic implants. For the sake of clarity, which is it? Crunch: Abilities You're paying too much, here. For the sake of cost, Con - is equivalent to Con 0, which gets you 10pp back (the 10pp you 'spend' on base abilities). So you have at least 10pp extra to play with in this build. Combat Grapple should be noted as '+20 (+24 w/ Super-Strength)', so that you don't accidentally cost yourself the bonus when grappling. Skills Knowledge: Current Events should have a final bonus of +3, not +1. Don't forget that Int! Watch your formatting, too - sheet's missing pp costs on a couple of powers (though the actual math cost of the full powerset works out), and some superficial formatting elsewhere (bolding categories, showing how the abilities and powers are added up in the header of their respective sections, etc). They're minor, but make the sheet a lot easier to read any time a ref or GM has to go through it to check something.
  22. Welp. It was worth a shot. Melee Attack Roll vs. Hekatonkheires (Power Attack -5/+5, All-Out Attack +2/-2) (1d20 + 7 - 5 + 2=18) DC35 Toughness. And if he's still up after THAT, she'll go ahead and surge another one: SURGE: Melee Attack Roll vs. Hekatonkheires (Power Attack -5/+5, All-Out Attack +2/-2) (1d20 + 7 - 5 + 2=24) ...ahahahahaha. DC40 Toughness, then, if he survived the first one. Tiamat is at -2 defense until the start of her next turn, and if she ended up having to surge she'll be fatigued as well.
  23. Hmm. Well, let's start here, at least: Intimidate Check vs. Hekatonkheires (Fast Startle) (1d20 + 22=25) That's...a pretty crap roll. Will wait to see where it goes before deciding how much to power attack, though, especially as Hekky is up to a +2 bonus now.
  24. "I'm afraid we can't," was Gaian Knight's reply, and the regret in his voice was genuine - as much as he truly, truly did not enjoy space travel, and as uncomfortable as parts of this situation made him, such a trip would have been an opportunity to learn so much - to answer a host of questions that they might never get another chance to ask. "We aren't diplomats, and our expedition is under some...difficult time constraints. Even for such an important event, we simply don't have the ability to visit your world, or take you with us to ours." He paused for a moment, Will's earlier words and his own late-night pondering coming back to mind. "....though, if it's proof of intelligent life you're after, there is still the matter of the local indigenous people facing extinction. I wouldn't call them advanced, but they show the potential and are proof of the evolution of other peoples across the stars." "Not to mention that it isn't really 'interfering' in their natural progression if they're about to have their progression cut short," Tiamat pointed out, earning a surprised glance from her partner - which, in turn, got an indifferent shrug back. "Letting people - or whatever - grow on their own is all well and good, but y'ain't really messing with the natural order if they're gonna die anyway and you have a good reason to step in."
  25. A rare fluff question from the Fox, but stranger things have been known to happen: Is there an explanation for the source of his powers? "Emotional black hole" is a bit vague; where do his powers actually come from?
