  1. Ok so Oz is on 0 HP. He gains 2 HP for being eccentric enough to eat the mushroom juice firstly, and secondly, for throwing the save and giving you the worst result. He then spends 1 HP for a mega - juiced - up "Insight" use of HP. Leaving him at Oz - Unharmed - WIS 4 (Will +7) - 1 HP
  2. Starshot "Its probably just the shifting sand" commented Starshot. He lowered his rifle, but did not sling it over his back. Better safe than sorry. Or worse, dead. "But that brings its own problems" he said to Laark and Soreen. "The sand could shift in our favour. Or shift against us. It could even swallow the Xeno". Unlikely, but certainly plausible. "Lets see what we got. It may be worth taking the ATV, but first things first, lets restock and resupply what we can. Also, we may even be able to effect repairs on the sensor array. Even if the Xeno stays here, we might get a scan" he said, although it was doubtful. The Xeno did indeed have a top end sensor array, but they might be halway round the planet. "Soreen, see if you can do anything with the sensors. Laark, lets go resupply what we can, and then see about the ATV..."
  3. Soory for delay here. @Tiff, the Scarab has successfully disabled the security so feel free to narrate that. Otherwise, I think its @Avenger Assembledwho is taking the lead, although @Thevshiis quite free to do something too!
  4. Oz is struck be a Drain 10 (Wis) Effect and gains 1 HP. Save vs Will DC 20 please! You may use that HP to get a turbo charged "insight" use of an HP, if you wish.

  6. Flux The Station still looks operational. Running on minimum power. As he transmitted his findings, Flux floated towards the airlock. He was slightly perturbed by Queenie's speed. A useful trick, but Flux was a cautious man. Speed was all well and good. Caution was better. He flipped on the automated lock outside the airlock, and pulled it open with a little grunt. He could do many things, but he was not super strong. At least, physically. Entering the station now. Fingers crossed!
  7. Scene cut sounds good.
  8. Captain Cosmos Power Level: 11 (194/205 PP) Unspent Power Points: 11 Trade-Offs: -4 Attack / +4 DC, -4 Defence / +4 Toughness In Brief: Multidimensional Paragon Alternate Identity: Buddy Brand Birthplace: San Franisco Residence: Freedom City Occupation: Newsreader Affiliations: None Family: Bernard Brand (Estranged Father, Businessman), Violet Brand (Lawyer Sister) Description: Age: 44 Apparent Age: 44 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5’11” Weight: 85 Kgs Eyes: Blue Hair: Brown / White Buddy is a fairly tall, broad man, with a physique representative of regular but not extreme exercise. He looks fairly close to his age, with silver flecked white hair and a few wrinkles. He has what many call a “trustworthy” face. When dressed as Captain Cosmos he has a black and grey spandex costume and mask, complete with cape. His chest has a golden “X” shaped cross on it. Captain Cosmos can change his dimensions. As a one-dimensional being he is essentially an imperceptible line. As a two dimensional being he will be completely flat. As a four dimensional being, he looks slightly faint, as if out of synch with the universe. As a five dimensional being, he appears to move with a faint blur. As a hyperdimensional being he gives an almost indescribable appearance of being “hyper-real” – even to those with normal senses there is an impression that he exists in countless incomprehensible dimensions. History: Buddy had an undesirable upbringing with a father who simply pushed him too hard to succeed at everything, wanting him to be a lawyer or politician. In university, Buddy rebelled, and ended up working in media, which ended up enjoying – and being promoted to newsreader for WCZA Channel 7 News. His flagship show is "the Brand Report", where he grills famous persons of Freedom City on a Thurdsay Evening. Buddy’s life changed when he ran into an alternate version of himself late on evening, driving home from an out of town party. The mysterious figure was “Captain Cosmos” and lay dying on the road. As Buddy comforted the dying man, he heard his dying words “Beware…the Collapse!” and was then infused with a hyperdimensional energy source, granting him extraordinary powers. For the first few days Buddy was wracked with nausea and disorientation. His physician, Doctor Linda LaBelle, ran some tests and came up with some extraordinary results. To this day, only she knows of his secret identity. Buddy felt both a duty to carry on the mantle of Captain Cosmos, and a duty to address some of the terrible things he had reported on in the world. Thus, Captain Cosmos roamed the skies once more… Personality & Motivation: Captain Cosmos is a friendly guy who is generally well liked. Having seen much of the darker side of the world as a newsman, he has a cynical streak, although he is generally an optimistic sort. In other words, he sees a lot of problems in the world, but also feels that they can be sorted out. His relationship with his father growing up was pretty awful, and whilst he has internalised some of that inner drive to succeed, he doesn’t like that. He is left with a chronic feeling of not being “good enough”, which drives his career and his personal life. Powers & Tactics: Captain Cosmos draws on the power of all the alternate versions of Buddy Brand throughout the multiverse (although only one has this power). This grants him amazing strength and resilience, and as he can sustain himself from the life force of all his alternate versions, immunity to any biological attack. In addition he can fly, and can alter his dimensions, either lowering them (one or two dimensional) or raising them (and thus being able to bypass normal space and time considerations) He will reduce his dimensions primarily for stealth, although sometimes fights two dimensionally if he is tired, weakened, and feels justified in using his dangerous “slicing” ability. He is more cautious about gaining extra dimensions due to the effect it has on his mental health – particularly for extended periods of time. But, if under pressure, he will use them. Power Descriptions: Captain Cosmos’ dimensional changes appear as above (Appearance). His flight causes a rumbling sound, and ripple in space behind him. Complications: Possibly Psychotic: Gaining more than three dimensions tends to scramble his brain if sustained for long. He will become increasingly paranoid, hallucinate, and display thought disorder. This does not make him violent (as he is not a violent man), but it is disabling and frightening. Even seconds will start to make him slightly suspicious, a few minutes will make him symptomatic, whilst a few hours could drive him to life threatening catatonia As he starts to become paranoid, the GM can start to give false information or present hallucinations as real. At the more severe end of these symptoms, his speech will start to disintegrate and make communication jumbled or garbled. These effects are sped up in high gravity (his descent to psychosis taking seconds) and slowed down in low gravity. Zero gravity (such as space) hugely slows down these effects, so he could operate in hyperdimensional forms for days with minimal effect. Buddy takes a few days to improve from these side effects (Depending on severity, it may take a shorter time or longer time). Those skilled in Behavioural Sciences might help him cope with these symptoms via psychological techniques, whilst those skills in medicine might rapidly speed his recovery (to hours) with antipsychotic drugs. Seizures, including ECT, will cause extremely rapid improvement (possibly instant). Busy Body: Buddy’s Secret ID is both busy and famous, and he lives in the competitive, stressful world of Media. Whilst able and reasonably popular, he is not so skilled that he is irreplaceable. Chronic Consciousness: Whilst Captain Cosmos can time travel, it is not easy for him. He will black out (fall unconscious) with either voluntary or involuntary time travel (or possibly, even temporal effects). Dread of Drowning: As a child, Buddy nearly drowned in a white-water rafting expedition – and his Father remonstrated him badly. He has a lingering fear of being submerged (although he no longer has any danger of drowning). Whilst actually underwater he is only slightly anxious, it is the process of actually submerging that is dreadful to him. If he voluntary submerges himself he would need at least a moment to steel himself (causing delay), whilst an involuntary submerging (from knockback or telekinesis or the like) would send him into a paralytic panic. Zero: Captain Cosmos could plausibly eliminate all his dimensions; essentially a zero-dimensional form, thus ceasing (temporarily) to exist at all. Whilst he would never voluntarily do this (arguably he could not voluntary force his own non-existence) massive exotic dimensional effects or super high gravity might cause this state – as might a malignant mind controller. 10. Very very Ill. Sorry no posts for a couple 9d days
  11. Ronin Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting Youxia had been dragged into Earth Prime. He had been practicing the Heaven’s seventeen drunken dragon’s style, and for a moment he though his transcendent mastery of his Qi had brought him to a new plane of existence. But no. His mastery of Qi was impressive, but it was in fact nothing so spectacular. Dimensional wobbles were wobbling a-plenty at this moment (although spacetime was a funny thing, and what a “moment” really meant was quite up for debate), and Youxia had been dragged into Earth Prime by one of those wobbles. And Bedlam in Earth Prime was just as dirty (literally and metaphorically) as his home dimension, Earth-Qi. In fact, it was dirtier. For Earth Qi was a place of spiritual enlightenment, the universe governed by the force of inner will rather than such tedious things as physics. Of course, that did not render it immune to the base desires of men, but, overall, it was a meditative, reflective place. Bedlam was an exception. And Youxia was its protector. A master of forty four forms of martial arts and twenty seven forms of inner mastery, he spent his days and knights leaping from rooftop to rooftop almost silently, his longbow in one hand, his longsword in his other, determined to root out the weeds of corruption and grime that had taken root in his city. Much like Ronin. Except Ronin did not leap around. He drove around in a converted pick up, with his Street Special by his side, ready to shoot any miscreant. But he was not a blood hungry vigilante. Modified non-lethal rounds, always. Well, nearly always. If it ever came down to him or them, then you could bet uncle Sam it would be them. And as he cruised out of Yancy Street, he caught sight of Youxia, in full and elegant silk robes, landing like a feather on the street, just where two drug pushers were menacing a young man of about fifteen or sixteen years old. The first received a kick to the head that sent him crumpling to the floor, lights out. The kick flowed like water, and hit like a tsunami. Ronin, no stranger to martial arts, found it elegant to the point of perfection. And then, Youxia raised his longsword to the other, in a swift serpent like movement. Thus was the style of the Jade Cobra of the Dragon’s lightning. “Hold it!” yelled Ronin, pointing his Street Special at Youxia. “No blood on Yancy Street!” Close up, he gasped as he saw his own face. And Youxia did the same. “Who the hell are you?” demanded Ronin. “Youxia! Defender of the lawless lands!” said Youxia, proudly. The paused a moment, sizing each other up. The drug pusher decided this was an excellent time to run. And, by luck rather than judgement, he was correct. For Youxia started to swing his longsword, and Ronin decided to fire. Not at Youxia. It was not the time to make enemies, especially an enemy of oneself. But he wasn’t going to let blood be spilled on Yancy street. Especially from his own hand. Well, soft of his own hand. Instead, he fired a modified shell at the Longsword with pinpoint accuracy. And as fast as the serpent style was, it was not as fast as a propelled projectile. With a rather tuneful “clang” as the blade twanged and vibrated, the longsword spun out of Youxia’s grip, landing a dozen feet away in a trash can. Youxia span round with his fist turning to a finger, in the style of the Southern Fighting Mantis. Dangerous! “Mantis style” commented Ronin, who knew almost every martial art known to man. But this was just slightly different. “But I never seen it like that…” “I was taught by the Grandmaster Lo-Ti” said Youxia proudly. “…never heard of him” “…you have never heard of Grandmaster Lo-Ti?” said Youxia. “But…where am I? A world of engines and boomsticks, and a world where nobody has heard of Grandmaster Lo-Ti and the ancient flowering gardens of tranquillity?” “….nope, never heard of them, either” said Ronin, carefully getting out of his care with his boomstick (aka Street Special) pointed at Youxia. “….then I must have passed through the heavenly gates of infinity to the lands beyond” concluded Youxia, putting his mantis fist away. “And you are a version of myself born in such a strange land” “That much I figured” agreed Ronin. He wasn’t putting his gun away yet, though. “But that don’t tell me what kind of man you are…now, I know those two suckers ain’t upstanding citizens. But I’m not a killer. Not most of the time” “It upsets the balance” said Youxia “but better to take one life than let two be taken” “I can dig that. But no killing on my street” said Ronin, firmly. By his estimation, at least Youxia had some kind of honour. But he wasn’t on his home turf, and on this street, in this universe, Ronin made the rules. “How you do that, anyway? Landing and jumping? You got some kind of helium balloons in that robe?” Youxia shook his head, although he didn’t know what helium was. “In our world, the forces of nature operate in harmony with ones Qi. By finding balance, and learning to focus our internal Qi, one can achieve much. It is the path to enlightenment” he bowed. Now, Ronin didn’t put a whole hill of beans on Qi or magic or anything like that. But he did believe in a good education. And, with all that martial art practice, he certainly knew of the concept. “Never seen anyone jump like that” he said. “Never seen anybody master their Qi like that….” He was interested. And he asked for a lesson. And a lesson he got. No, Qi in this universe was not the same as Qi in that. For Yuoxia it was as alive and powerful as gravity, or sunshine. And yet he could still master that internal force and transcend his normal physical and mental capabilities (although one should never subscribe to the artificial dichotomy of Cartesian dualism, of course!) “Goddamn, I don’t feel anything” grunted Ronin. “Don’t try to” answered Yuoxia. And so words were spoken this way and that way, with hands and body held in significant poses, with breathing deep and focussed, and above all the demonstration of mental awareness. As the sun set, they stayed at it, on the rooftop of an almost condemned and certainly crumbling building on Yancy street. Yuoxia could surely have run up a wall with barely a mote of dust dislodged, or landed with the speed of a gently wafting feather. Ronin, on the other hand, felt we would break a bone or a dozen if the building collapsed. But, perhaps that was the point. To put material things like bones and draining things like fear to one side. Ronin was pretty sure he didn’t get it. At least, not in totality (and, due to the differences of the universe, he had less to tap into). But… He was pretty sure he got something. He wasn’t going to be running up walls or punching through solid steel. He wasn’t going to paralyse a man with his little finger, or leaping across still lakes with his feet touching the water surface like drops of rain. But he did feel the meditation, the philosophy, the mindfulness, had a certain allure. And when dawn came, and Youxia returned to his own strange and wonderful dimension, Ronin felt that left at least a drop of his wisdom behind…
  12. Lament "I shall surely not, oh Kingly King!" bowed Lament. You spiteful old weasel! Still, it was a victory. Why commit to violence when wit would do (or in this case, a bit of violence and wit, but the point was made). "Now, oh King, allow me to return your most splendid boots" he said, passing off his boots once more. "Whilst they are truly wond'rous, I fancy they would not fit well in my most mundane world" I dont want to propel myself into a jet or helicopter! "And on that delightful note, I must bid farewell...err....where do I go?"
  13. GM The chain mail and helmet sparkled rather nicely under the starlight and moon. The neon signs also gave a rether resplendent reflection in the polished metal. There were a group of about a dozen knights, and another dozen onlookers and well wishers drinking heavily and talking freely. "Sir Prize will be there at midnight. A joust, a melee, a glorious feast!" said one. They all spoke in a rather mangled form of old English (or at least, what an American thought old English would be) with the occasional slip into American accents and slang. "Verily! Twill be Awesome!" replied another, as a case in point. "Lady Key will be present too!" noted a third. This grew some appreciation, but muted. For Lady Key was a newcomer and they were not sure she should be trusted as she was. It had nothing to do with gender, for clearly some of the Knights of Anarchy were women. This was not a men - only motorcycle club.
  14. GM "Yes...yes....it certainly appears that way...." said Lorenzo, peering closely. "Ah curse this intangible form of mine!" he said, angrily. The mist in his glass helmet turned a deeper shade of orange, bordering on red. "My nose! My nose! I cannot smell! How I used to wander fragrant gardens! Inspect fine herbs! Ingest fine spices! Even the aroma's of fungus and mildew were intriguing. All is lost! All is lost! Alas, that I ever smoked that new world leaf!" he lamented, furious with himself. He forced his mind, and thus his body (or the orange mist that passed for one) back into shape. "Yes. This is precisely the kind of vibrant fungus that might restore my body!" he said, enthusiastic again. "If you would be good to ingest some, that would help my research indefinately. I need to know how poisonous it is, and how quickly it will kill you. But, please allow me to carefully measure the quantity you ingest before you do ingest. I must have precise measurements!" he said, bringing out some finely wrought weighing scales from his black cape.
  15. GM Kidd chewed his tongue mulling the words. He flicked on the safety of his shotgun. "I guess your right" he said. "I'm an officer of the law, after all. Sometimes that's easier to say than to do" he conceded. He didn't look happy about conceding, even if he had a smile crowbarred onto his face. Jackson had kept the camera on, of course. If not...well, who knows what would have happened. "You do dig that Blowfish is gonna crawl under a pile of laws and get off, right?" Kidd said to Justice. "But I guess they should call you Law-girl rather than Justice, huh?"
  16. GM Morgen continued muttering, looking straight at Dreadnought with her eyes. Or, more precisely, one eye. The other mass of scar tissue seemed to look right at him and see lots of things that were not condusive to ones sanity. And, unlike her material eye, it could not blink or close. "I don't trust your friend. Only you!" she said. And even that trust was a fragile one, it seemed. She paused as they reached the entrance to the church, grasping hold of me. A breif moment of lucidity seemed to hit her. "My friend, the giant, I...am not myself! Protect me! I do not wish to be taken!"
  17. GM At this time of night, with the streets alive with drunken drunkards and dancing dancers, it was neither particularly easy or particularly easy to find somewhere to change. Turning, with a low and soothing grumble of engine, into a side alley worked. There was a couple locked in a passionate embrace, and sharing a tongue sandwich. The Centurion could descend from the skies in a pink spandex mankini riding a unicorn and they would not have noticed. There were two revellers who had all but passed out from drink and quite possibly other intoxicants given how one of them was mumbling about having invented the ground-breaking four sided triangle. It was certainly safe to transform. All the while, Chromium could hear the music and the banter from the main street by the beach. Something big was happening. A contest! Organised by the noble Sir Prize!
  18. Lament At last! That was like pulling teeth!....in fact, pulling his teeth would have been a faster way to get his tears, and probably a more just method! After all...this man kidnapped children! Oh yes, even if all was resolved today, and the children returned safely, he had a special spite for a King who would resort to such drastic measures. Mayhap, if he had his heart back, he would see the cruelty of his ways. But if not, Lament had his name scrawled in a very black book in his mind. Vengeance! "There we go, dear King! Joy has returned! And with it, no doubt, every emotion that you could conceive of. Perhaps more! And how succulent those feelings must be after being asent for so torturous a time! Hurrah Hurrah and thrice Hurrah for the King of Tears!" And the Lord of Lamentations!
  19. Ronin "Its alive, dang it!" muttered Ronin as he stuff the container of ink in his trenchcoat. And, yes dang it, it did feel awful. He felt the thing crawl up and down his spine. Still, he tried to push into a dark and invisible place in his brain. The Street Special in his hand, he took a deep breath and started tearing up the stairs, putting his cardio system to good work, and ready to feel the sweat on his brow and the lactic acid in his quadriceps. And ready to fight when he got to the top of the stairs! And hoping he didn't fall out of a window en route!
  20. OK, thanks! So Ronin is hampered by lack of mobility, but them's the breaks. Moving all out (120') to the top floor hopefully, but also hopefully keeping cover as much as possible whilst doing so!
  21. GM And haste was thusly made! In the blink of a pixie eye (which was a very flexible unit of time!) they were at the base of the mushroom mountain. The reason for its name soon became quite clear, for, verily, 'twas both a mushroom and a mountain. One could almost see the snow at the top. If snow it was. At its base was a fleshy stalk of lurid green, and peppered through it were blue caves and tunnels. "Behold, the Mushroom Mountain! Inside, the King of the Mushroom Men! The Fun Guy!" said Boddyflock. "Fungi, you mean" corrected Lorenzo. "I say what I mean, and I mean what I say!" retorted an irrate Boddyflock. "The mushroom men call him the Fun Guy, and that it was he is called by them! We call him the Tyrant of Evil!" "Tyrant of Eee-----vil!" chorused his four soldiers. "I will be delighted to meet him" said Lorenzo. "We will be delighted to cutstab him!" said Boddyflock, thrusting forward his one inch sword with pride. "Yeah!" chorused Penny Coin, getting into the spirit of things, thrusting her considerably bigger sword. It twanged against the flesh of the mushroom mountain and a blue ichor slowly oozed from the wound. "interesting..." said Lorenzo, peering forward to study it.
  22. Could you give a brief overview of positions? I'm wondering if anyone damage effect would work
  23. GM Morgen was a brave and bold soul. But her head was as frazzled as her brain. She hissed at Dreadnought. "And I thought you where a giant!" she laughed, but it was a mirthless laugh. She tore at he head. "I need to be in the temple...its calling me...." she said, stroking its rock and earth. "I can hear it! And see it, at the centre of the stars! Can you see the music? Can you hear the dancers?" she asked Dreadnought as she succumbed to profound synastheasia. Still, old bonds were strong, and strong enough to cut through madness at times. Morgen had seen Dreadnought save her tribe aeons ago, and he had - in his own way - protected her in Hong Kong. She reached out to him, and pulled herself up. "Where to?"
