GM It was a hard offer to say no to. A delicious offer. She could imagine the glory of all the temple had to offer. She could well imagine it. And she would make sure she got it. But... "<Is that temple really for you to offer?>" she replied in Spanish before switching to English. "It's not like it belongs to you..." And it doesnt belong to me, either. But I'm the one with the gun right now. And it would certainly be safer in her hands than his. "And last time I tried to pull off the ring, it wasn't coming off" she said clearly, which was no lie. She didn't make move to try again. Partially to keep the gun trained on Neil, partially because she wanted to dig a bit deeper. She was an archeologist, after all. "And why would you want it, anyway? You got what you came for" I think. "Although you still haven't told me what that ring does. Should I be scared?"

Starshot So, that was it. Vibrillium and Tomarillium mining. "What happens when the mountains run out of Vibrillium and Tomarillium, Phalen?" he asked, scratching his jaw stubble, keeping his eyes fixed on Phalen. "Where do you think the Red Devils and their slaves will come next?" Why were they called Red Devils, he pondered. "I bet the caves. Easiest to mine. Tell me, what will you do then? Fight them alone with a depleted blaster rifle and dirty fingernails?" he asked. "If I was you, I'd fight them now. At least you have a chance...."

Lament "There!" called out Lament loudly, unable to contain his excitement. He slapped a hand to his mouth. "Fiddlesticks!" he mumbled softly, irritated with himself. He could only hope the mother had not heard. Well, there were three options, and why not take all three? It wasn't stealing if he was thieving from a thief, was it? Gently did it, though. No telling what traps or wards the mother had placed on them. He pushed the void out of his skin, and thrree long tentacles of oily blackness crept through the air. It was difficult, like this, the void most strong, and him most weak...but the tentacles would be unharmed (As far as Lament knew) by any trap or fire. And they coiled round the three possible tears to grasp them, and then bring them gently to his own grasp!

GM "Sure honey, I can rustle up something..." said Amber, seemingmore resolved to the peril now. A desperate woman, once she knows she is desperate, gets some iron in her backbone. "...like that building. The Sunny Sun thing" she mumbled. "I know he's been meeting with a local politician. Pushing through the planning permission. Greasing the wheels with some cash" she said, proudly. "Don't know how you would prove that" she added, less confidently. "But I know it!" "Get your ass in gear, Amber! Its showtime!" called the tipsy drummer as the rest of the band trotted out (still not seeing Justice, and thinking Amber was mumbling to herself). "Gotta go, honey!" whispered Amber to Justice, and stood up. She tried to put her hair in place, then tottered out to the stage on high heels...

GM Amber was far from certain. She was lost in her own self pity, and drowning in the months of alcoholism that befuddled her brain andjudgement. "I can't go on like this. Its gotta end..." she said, which of course had multiple meanings from optimistic to bleak. "...this is my best shot, I guess. Alright, darling, I'll help you. Although it could have an unhappy ending for both of us. That's on you, though. Don't say I didn't warn you!" She straightened up. "Proof ain't easy to come by. And this ain't the place to talk about it either. Tell me what you want, and I'll come meet you after the show, round the back..."

GM This was a barren part of the world, but even in this remote border town, their were vehicles. Cars, trucks, even snowmobiles, and all equipped for the climate. Of course, they belonged to people. There was a garage, which was at this time empty. A couple of these vehicles were being repaired, a couple more awaiting pickup. And one sorry car looked like it was a total write off. It was dark and would remain so for some more hours at this time of year - the winters grew fairly long. And the drive to the border would probably only take an hour, even being careful. Still, if Replica and Synapse wanted to avoid daylight, the clock was ticking...

Ronin "Security booth. Camera's" said Ronin softly, mulling it over. "We gotta keep those eyes off us. But it also gives us a chance to see exactly what is in the top floor" "I'm going down there. I think I can handle one security guard" he said with a humble little laugh. "And I'll make sure no alarm is going to get raised" It would have to be done silently and the Street Special, for all its elegance and power, was anything but silent. He tucked it into his Trenchcoat in its holster. Instead, he would have to do it old school, with his bare hands. Nothing problematic about that, unless the security guard had some serious moves. No, the only trick would be to do it quietly, before he could raise an alarm...

Snakebite For her part, Cassie didn't drop her tranq-gun. She was surely tempted to shoot Neil right there. Several times, send him right off to sleep. But she held off, and just kept the barrel of the gun pointed firmly at him. "What have you done, Neil?" she asked him, hurt. She had given him her faith, and she had been used. "And who are you, really?" she added. "Not some regular treasure seeker. Not some standard academic. At the very least, you are playing with sorcery!" And not the good kind of sorcery, either. If indeed there was such a type. "And its not over till the fat lady sings. And I'm not fat, and I'm not singing...."

Starshot I'm not getting anywhere. Starshot sighed internally, his face stony and impassive. Despite his frustration, he decided to press again. The Red Devils only care about workers...that at least made half-sense. Slavery. "Tell me about these mines, then. What do the Red Devils want in the mountains? Why mine here?" he asked. Perhaps there was some geological peculiarity to this planet. Perhaps some valuable treasure or rare element. Or, most likely, Phalen would not know, or give some incomprehensibly cryptic answer. Still, words cost nothing, and it was as well to ask on a slim hope, for one would lose nothing by the asking.

GM "Terminus energy!" smiled Ether, most pleased with himself. "My experiments have...transformed....me", he grinned with his pointed chin and pointed nose. And yes, his thin cruel pointed lips. "Insane! Even by my standards!" grunted Zip. He almost pulled the gun off his back ready to fire, but decided to put his hands up instead. "Never mind these fools" replied Ether, pointing and the stone age men around them. "Stone tipped spears and furs! What threat are they?" he demaned, and once again started burning with blue vaporous flame that caressed his body. Then, to add to the effect, he started floating upwards. The spearmen gasped, and backed off, yabbering to themselves. Some fell to their knees and started praying to the demon, god, or something else entirely. "Idiot!" mumbled Zip.

Sgt Shark Sgt. Shark felt the thrum at the back of his head. He felt it light up his primitive brain. His teeth itched ferociously, his claws twitched doubly so. All he could think about was blood, blood...BLOOD! I must have BLOOD! Something, almost beyond his awareness was directing him, guiding him. Telling him that they must not reach the lights. But he could barely register such complex thoughts when he had succumbed totally to his primitive mutated self. All he could do was rend, bite, and feed. And mixed up in this strange and powerful fury was his olfactory centre, which had been alight ever since he smelled the Sea Devil. Ah, lust is a strange and mercurial thing. For now all he wanted to do was feast on her! And feast I shall! He swam towards her, maw open wide, ready to clamp down on the delicious and disgusting flesh!

GM "Ah...ah Superhero?" she asked, her hope beginning to smoke and catch alight. She almost sobered up t the thought. "....I can help. Just don't hurt him...." It appeared that in the tangled mess of her brain she had somehow developed a strand of love for Blowfish. Only a strand. "...and you got to protect me!" she hissed, still afaraid. "I got dirt on him, per-lenty of dirt on him. Murder. Extortion. Blackmail. Intimidation" she said. "...but I don't know how thats gonna help. Its my word against his, and that ain't gonna count for much....a washed out drunk like me..." She started sobbing.

Lament Now, this looks just like the kind of place the tears of a King would be stored! A room full of the abstract! Why, I imagine it has essence of laughter and impossible possibilities too! He resisted the urge to start looking for "performance of a lifetime" although he was most tempted. He actually wobbled as he fought the inner battle. He twisted this way, twisted thay way, and changed his mind seven times. But eventually, he drove his mind to the sound of the children, and their crying. Yes, that must take priority. Yes. Yes. It must. Yes, it REALLY must. Now, how to find the tears of a king? Despair, maybe. And he was the duke of despair. As a test, he let the void out, seeking happiness and feeding on it - and kept his ears open...maybe he could pick up a wail? a sob? A delicate matter though, for too loud a sound and the mother might hear!

Lord Steam "Well now, Blakely, this is a thing you do not see every day!" said Lord Lucien Lockwood, also known as Lord Steam. "Indeed, Sir" said Blakely, who parked Bessie, the steam powered automobile, on the edge of Liberty Park. "Not even Professor Ether's Zepplin designs were quite as...odd....as this vehicle...." "If Vehicle it be, if Vehicle it be! Mayhap more, mayhap less!" declared Lord Steam, jumping out of the car. He went around to the boot and opened it up. "This requires investigation, Blakely! Indeed it does. Quite the empuzzlement! Now then....now then...." He strapped his tool belt around his waist and his grappling hook into a holster under his armpit. A flask of tea, teabags, a notebook, some pencils and pens, and a bag of investigative tools completed his inventory. He did, of course, carry his splendid walking cane as always. Mainly because it was splendid. "Keep her parked here, Blakely. And perhaps get us some refreshments. We may be here some time and I have a hunger for some cucumber sandwiches!" "Very good, Sir!" said Blakely, who quite fancied some cucumber sandwiches too, and spied a nearby deli. Lord Steam then took long strides to the strange ship, keen to start examining it!- 27 replies

Snakebite Neil! I knew it! Although she clearly hadn't known it. More like a gnawing suspicion that slowly fermented. He was trying to sacrifice someone. And not, it seemed, the moon. the daughter, the wife, the priest...certainly didn't sound like a Goddess, or a moon Goddess. "<Neil is trying to sacrifice someone>" she said. "<And I'm going to stop him!>" she added, determined. She gripped her gun tightly, and ran full speed towards the chanting. Heaven knows what he is up to...I just hope I am not too late!

Starshot Starshot decided to try his luck. Who were the Red Devils, in Phalen's shattered mind? "The Red Devils will find you in the forest, and find you in the caves" he said, firmly, with a false certainty he did not have. "The only way to be free of them is to leave this planet. And you won't leave this planet by hiding in a cave" he said. "I can get us off this planet. I can get you off this planet. Once I get my ship back, you have a seat on it. Ill drop you off at the nearest civilized world" right into a psychiatric facility. "Who are the Red Devils, and where are they?" he demanded once again, trying to keep his frustration at bay. He had seen shell shock before, and he was not unsympathetic, but Phalen seemed to have lost the backbone of the soldiers he had seen. "I cant protect you from them if I don't know...."

I think its narrative time at the end of the thread, Exaccus, so really whatever you are inclined to do, feel free! If you feel there is something to that idea about going all Azazoth beyond time and space, please go for it!

GM "Yer trying to expoje Blowfisjh?" mumbled Amber, almost letting a glint of hope in her eye for a second. "No...no...." he added, looking away as fear kicked in. "You dont know what he can do...." she shook her head. "He'll kill you. And do worsh to me if I open my big mouth. Only shinging he wantsh me doing izsh on the shtage!" she said, and to drum home her point she took another swig of whiskey. It was a miracle she was still upright, let along singing. And a few more months her skin would probably turn the colour of a banana from liver failure. "What maksh you think you can fight Blowfish anyhow?" she said, interested, again letting that spark of hope illuminate. "Hesh got more gunsh and tough guysh than I can count!"

GM "Earth....probably" mumbled Lulu. "I want to go home!" screamed Norbert Body, the ASTRO scientist (whose red shirt stuck out rather glaringly in the green jungle). "We just need some more Nihilus energy, and I am sure we can effect another jump!" replied Professor Ether, looking greedily at Delta. "Just give me a good laboratory and I am sure I can fix my hopper!" said Zip, proudly. "Except we appear to be an alternative reality where mankind has not evolved past the stone age" Screams and whoops came from the trees. And spears were pointed in their direction. "...which makes a laboratory unlikely. Give the word and Ill try another jump. No idea where will end up though. The dimensional mapper has burnt out" explained Zip. "However bad shape we are in, imagine hopping into a reality with only two dimensions, or one where everything is one million degrees centigrade...."
