GM Sari was a kindly soul, and was more than happy to help. "<Of course...of course>" he replied. "<But..haha...the nearest town is an hours drive away!>" he said, friendly. <"Hop in, hop in, both of you>" he said, pointing at the truck. It was a medium sized truck, and three passengers would be slightly cramped, but certainly manageable. Sami climbed into the truck himself. Some classical music was playing on the radio station. Grieg, as it happened. It went well with the northern lights. He poured out some hot coffee from his thermos and offered both Synapse and Cubismo some. "<Im on my way to Raja-Jooseppi>" he explained. "<Its the northernmost border checkpoint to Russia, icy and cold!...not the most friendly of places but it works well enough. The nearest town is a bit of a detour, but I can make it...>"

GM The large man breathed a sigh of relief. Whatever strength he had in his body, he did not seem to match with wit or subtelty. "Thats...good....I mean, good for you. I mean...well....happy holidays" he said with a shrug, blabbering about with his words and stumbling over his phrases. "I won't forget what you did that day, kid. You are a good sort. World needs more people like you. And maybe less like me" he said, frowning. "Whatever...." The train pulled up to the next stop with its high tech whirring - there was no question that the Freedom City Monorail was a fantastic piece of engineering. Smooth and silent. "...I'd get away from the Monorail though. Word to the wise...." finished the large man, unsure of whether he should give the heads up, but feeling oblidged to.

Sgt Shark "No sir!" snapped Sgt Shark dutifully. "We will succeed, sir!" he added, trying to make everyone as confident as he was. Confidence was perhaps not strictly true. Committed. Fearless. He had been in plenty of tight spots in the Special Boat Service. True, this mission was full of giant alien squids, but it was a mission like any other. And he had always stayed true to the mission. No time for doubts! Caution, perhaps. That was always prudent. But not doubt. "Ready to drop at your command, sir!" he finished, giving a shark-handed salute.

Lament Neither of us? Well now, she's an astute one! "Did not flee? Ah, so ye ran towards a new, brighter dance, did you?" he reorted. Somehow, he was rather irritated that moonlight on a lake would seem appealing after his own fantastic show. It vexed him. "Well, milady, I am sorry my performance was so meagre a meal!" he said, unable to contain the insult to his art. A meal? well now, I wonder what the food was...he wondered, inspired by his own words. "I wonder what you feasted on? Joy? Delight? The tears of children?" he jibed, trying to provoke a response.

GM Even Jack Jackson couldn't see a way of turning this interview into something exciting or scandalous. "Sure sure...nice to meet you Justice...and remember folks you saw it here first - with Jack Jackson!" he finished up, and wandered off to try and get some better action. "Bor---ing!" he muttered under his breath as he left Justice. It wasn't too soft. Just carefully timed so Justice could just about hear him. "Say" grunted Detective Kidd. "Maybe when the bullets start firing one accidentally hits him between the ears? Whaddya say?" he asked Justice, before closing one eye, aiming his finger at Jackson's skull, and pulling the imaginary finger. "Pow! And the world is a better place!"

Starshot Hunt and live in peace...my kind of folk! Starshot nodded gratefully. So, two of the native species of this planet were joined. But one remiained, chained by the clasps of false gods. "Then it is time to rest, and..even celebrate" he said. For surely they could afford to wait - rushing this would go ill. Not too long...for the Pirates would surely soon enough start to understand what was happening, and develop their own strategy (and a brutal one it might be). But a days rest, sleeping and eating, would go well. "Celebrate not the spilling of blood, but the road towards freedom" he explained. No, he took no joy in death. "And then, we must make to the sky pirates again. To see their city with our own eyes..." Starshot planned to take the small fliers as far as they could go, then travel on foot for the last part of the journey, to scout out the pirates. First part of the war - understand the enemy....

GM The streets of Hong Kong bustled with their usual energy. One could see street vendors, cars, bycicles, pedestrians. Every walk of life from rich to poor, fortunate to misfortunate. And of course, admist all that activity, Hong Kong was in the midst of a power struggle. "Its getting brutal" replied Sonny Cho to Tsunami's question. "Nobody could quite believe it when Dr Sin was arrested. Some people still can't. I'm not sure I do. Dr. Sin had plans within plans within plans. So everybody, right afterwards, was playing cautious..." "Except for the Hornet, his henchman. Alchemist. Inventor. Genius, they say" he nodded to Comrade Frost. "You remember him? He kind of dropped Dr Sin's location. Seems he was a hairs breadth away from betraying the doctor anyway" "He's consolidating his power. But there is resistance. The old guard. You...ah....may be aware of Kong Zi Khan" he said, shuffling his feet and avoiding Tsunami's gaze but the implication was clear. Sonny was not sure how much Tsunami wanted Comrade Frost to know. He cleared his throat. "He's holding back from joining the Hornet. Maybe its loyalty. Maybe its just seeing which way the dice land" he explained. "And your ah....step siblings" he said, bowing to Tsunami respectfully. "Are, as they say...on the other side of the law to yourself..." "In any case, as I understand it, the Hornet has taken delivery of some very powerful weapons developed in Cairo. Which means he is probably going to make his move soon. Either bend the knee to him as Dr. Sin's successor, or get crushed..."

GM Cassie felt something different this time. Kayara --- seemed less insane. Was this the past? or even the future? Did dimensions like time even matter to lunar dieties? "It may be beloved" she answered. "But it is more than ornamental. It bears your body and soul then. And it seems stuck to me. Welded to my finger" she said, holding up the offending article. "Dragging destruction along with it. I am not sure how beloved it is to me" she said, a little angry now. She forced the anger down to her stomach. Fury would serve no purpose here, although she had plenty to spare. She went for a blunt approach. "How do I get it off? Return it you?....a sacrifice?" she wagered.

Lament Lament judged that sudden movements would only make her move as suddenly, or more so. She was fast as lightning! At least, faster than he was. So he stood, slowly, dripping wet. He had, to his annoyance, dropped his purple hat by the lakeside. I must pick that up! "Verily and forsooth..." he said, dramatically, stroking his damp wet (and false white beard). "What manner of creature are thee? and what theft have you begat this evening?" he asked. "Children have gone missing, and you flee from the scene of the crime!"

GM "Justice, eh?" said Jack Jackson, salivating. "Are you a new superhero?" he asked, and without awaiting an answer, he spun to the camera. "Thats right folks, you heard it here first! Another Jack Jackson special! The debut of....JUSTICE!" He span round again, full of keen. "Do you have a cape? Whats you favourite colour? Can you fly? X-Ray Vision? What drove you don a mask? Whats your top three tips for a utility belt?" he asked breathlessly, gasping for breath. "Do you stand for....JUSTICE?" he said, winking at the camera. "Oh sheesh...." muttered a disgusted Detective Kidd, facepalming.

Sgt Shark "Yes Sir!" answered Victor Tiberius Finn, saluting. He had been studying the geological data of this area. Nothing interesting. High levels of Potassium, which he supposed might be of interest to Kazakhstan, but otherwise unremarkable and not of interest to the mission (he supposed). He was pleased to see the region was at least reasonably geologically stable...they didn't want any underwater volcanoes.... "The mission objective is to stop the flooding of the pacific rim and to neutralise aliens capability to do so" he repeated. To his military mind, clarity was key. Getting off course was dangerous. "Do we have intelligence on aliens, sir?" he asked, politely. He was all about tactics!

GM The strong man looked surprised to see Selena. He looked startled, even. His eyes shifted left and right. "Kid...its you!" he said. There was happiness and gratitude in his voice, for sure. But there was something else too. Anxiety, fear, regret. "Yeah, happy holidays and all that" he muttered, pulling his sleeve over his metal hand. "Its...good to see you. I won't forget that day in a while. Or your fancy moves..." he added, looking concerned. "Are you...ah...getting off at the next stop?" he asked, deeply concerned now.

GM The Dust Devil had it right! For Setho was not a mere illusion or phantasm as he had been before, but right there, clothed in invisibility. Yet, for all his magic aptitude, he could not do anything about the sand around him. Hard to see, perhaps, but there he was. The sand functioned like flour or smoke, revealing where Setho stood by its absence. And he was no fool, he saw his ploy had failed. "Enough!" he called out, becoming visible once more. "What do you wish, humans? That my head end up on a spike at the will of the fool riders behind you? Ha! They think me mad, for I reject their own cold madness. You may see me as malign, but compared to the Lemurian Empire, I am a saint!"

Lament Oooof! Lament had been expeting a few feet of water at least! He found himself on the bottom of the not very deep lake with a surprised look on his face. Oh well...roll with it! He stayed an inch from the bottom and swam towards the Elf as quickly as he could. The...Elf? I still can't believe it! But appearances can be deceptive! was dancing and distracted, so the chase was not over yet. Not if he had anything to do with it. He did not need to breathe; he had that advantage - he could stay underwater as long as it took. He wished the lake had been deeper, given him more cover, but...as he knew from the stage, if misfortune happened, you had to improvise from the script!

GM And so, one month later... 'Twas the season of goodwill and cheer, for Yuletide was in the air. Which meant everybody rushing around jamming elbows into ribs in horrible irrate crowds trying to buy christmas shopping to the tune of looped vapid Christmas songs. Yes indeed, 'twas most interesting time of year. And the monorail was zipping around like it always does, ferrying passangers to this mall, or to that. It was busier than normal, and there were shopping bags everywhere. And on this monorail carriage, Gauss saw a familiar face. There he was, the one armed man. Still tall, still strong, but now with a shiny metal arm. She could see the shiny hand poke out of his jacket. He looked tired, he looked tense. Not despondent - no - but on the lookout, sweating slightly.

GM Jack Jackson looked visibily dissapointed at the safe answer. "No reason at all!" he said, clearly wishing there was a reason, and that news fell from the sky in a thunderstorm of scandal. "We all want a peaceful non enventful resolution to this exciting and thrilling stand off!" he said to Justice, but mainly the camera. He spun back to Justice, armed with his trusty microphone. "And who are you, citizen? Some superhero? Thats a very nice mask you got on there? Why those colours? And how do you know detective Kidd?" he asked, machine-gunning out his questions. With every word, the microphone crept a millimetre or two forward, until it was almost jammed into her nostrils.

Thanks Depending on time, Sgt Shark will look at the geological data and use Knowledge [Earth Sciences] either taking 10 (minutes) or 20 (hours!) to see what thestate of play is - looking at the stability of the region and also age of the plates around here. EDIT: Should have added that would be a 20 or 30 result on the "roll" respectively.

Starshot "War...." No, I don't wish war. A hunt, yes. But war... He shook his head unconsciously. "I never wish war. But the pira...the sky-devils will bring terror on this world, terror and slavery. This, I cannot stand for" he said, gravely. "Nor should you, nor any race that walks under the sky" "For now, we are going to spy on the sky devils, to see what they are up to. A wise man knows his enemy before he makes war. And that is my intent..." He grew even graver. "But if, or when, war comes, what will you do?" he asked the Chief.

GM ELVES! Now, Luther LeGrasse knew a little about occultism and myths; he had to superficially scan the wikipedia entries in order to get his act together. But...the real deal was something else. Still, he kept his cool. It would simply not do let anyone know of his shameful ignorance. "ELVES, YES!" Now, a more immediate problem presented itself. Namely, she was running across the water with gaity, and taxi's tended to sink in the water. Still, damned if Lament would give up the chase... He jumped out of the car and dived into the water...It was not cold to his skin, for the Void warmed his bones, and he did not need to breathe, for the Void fed his blood. He dived down, down...perhaps if the Elf did not see him, she might stop. For he surely would not match her speed by swimming.

GM "Hey Detective Kidd! Remember me?" jumped in Jack Jackson, followed by his cameraman and sound engineer. "Hey! Hey! Like a piece of doggie doo on the bottom of my shoe! How could I forget?" grinned Det Kidd, pointing his finger and the reported and mock firing. "The Tommy Cult? You got shot to hell, if I remember...." said Jack Jackson, igoring the jibe and counter thrusting. "Sure did" said Kidd. "But it hurt less than listening to your shows!" The two stared each other down for a moment. "So, what you doing here? Another cult to shoot up? Going to blow up the building?" asked Jack Jackson, thrusting the microphone in Kidd's face. "No comment. Get that outa my face..." snarled Kidd, pushing the microphone out of his face and pushing Jack Jackson away. "Careful there, cowboy!" yelped Jack Jackson. "Don't want another police brutality charge, do we?...and whose this kid you are talking to?" he said, spinning around and sticking his microphone in the direction of Justice. "Any comment?"

GM The Lab technician, whose name, apparently was "SANCHEZ" (or so it said on his name tag) and Lulu started edging out from the cover of the rock. The atmosphere was horribly cold, and foul to the nostril and lung. It was not a habitable place, by any shot. Sanchez shook his head, holding his hand to his mouth to try and filter out the sulphurous dust. Lulu did the same and with her other hand looked at her WEST Scanner. "I got...nothing. I mean, literally nothing. No background energy...no background dimensions even....this must be somewhere completely outside spacetime as we know it" she said. "KILL ALL HUMANS! KILL ALL HUMANS!" Squarked the robot as its power systems came online. The stun grips sparked, the blaster cannons oozed ionic charged particles, the eyes glowed red. "KILL ALL HUMANS!" it repeated again, just to make sure its intentions were absolutely clear.

Lament "Aha! The Chase is afoot!" roared Lament as the Taxi hurled itself through the street. "You sir, are bold and brave! Neither craven nor coward! May you hold your head high when telling this tale to your Grandchildren by the fireside!" he said graciously to the taxi driver who was, as far as Luther was concerned, a good man. He leant his head out the side of the taxi, holding on to his fantastically tall and fantastically splendid tall hat. "HALT!" he shouted at the...well, whatever it was. He hoped he did not have to swim! Brrrr! The water would be icy cold, but the Void would at least sustain him from the chill. Or the need to breathe, come to that....
