Spore Harper scratched the back of her neck. This place was going to get some getting used to, after the freedom and fields of the Hale Vineyard in San Fransisco. A pang of homesickness hit her. But there was no growth without change, and she needed to get to grips with being a fungus-human. So-make the most of it. "This place is overwhelming..." she said, voice quiet but slicing through the air all the same. "I don't know about you all, but its bashing my brain in..." She looked around the faces of the other girls. "Exciting, too," she added with a smile. "But I feel like I have been launched out of a freaking catapault. I never met such a bunch of crazy, strange and awesome people in my life!" She took a deep breath in. "I'm just going to start by promising to have your backs this year, right? We can do this, together. We can make this a year of awesome!" It was her first speech. It wasn't going to be good. But she was damn sure she had to start somewhere!

Gamma Buzz Baltazar felt exhausted, depleted, like the last embers of a barbeque (a radioactive barbeque with uranium coals of course). "Errrr.... did that work?" he asked, forcing his eyes up to the sky. It looked more vivid, more strange than he could comprehend. "That looks weird. I mean... obviously I completely understand the quantum blahblah effects of the spacetime thingy. But perhaps someone else could explain it to help all the others understand it? And perhaps whether it is a good thing, or a bad thing, or a really really bad thing that I don't want to hear about if it is. In fact, if it is a really really bad thing then dont tell me, just give me a bunch of cherrypop lollipops and tell me its all going to be ok and the la-de-da faries are going to whisk us all away to a playground where we can play computer games all day..." His eyes turned to Lawrence. "Lawrence, you are almost as clever as me! You explain it all! In language the others will understand.... obviously I will understand anything you say, but its for the others benefit!"

GM "A Salary? I was not aware I was being paid. And, as I understand it, you are bereft of sufficient capital to pay me. Other than in royal platitudes, which I rather suspect you are full of. Platitudes, that is..." He cast the torch down to the turgid waters. "Although by the end of this escape I imagine we will both be full of it. Full of something else entirely. And not, I daresay, in a good way..." He shone the light at King Cole. "Well, your highness, is your alchemical prowess ready to deal with this? We still have an egg to find... and a goodly network of putrid waters to detoxify!"

Snakebite "Atlantis and Lemuria, the war? I have heard of it. Myths, legends, dusty old tomes that would fall apart if you looked at them too long. But there are strange and obscure books in strange and obscure libraries. I wouldn't mind getting the mysterious Erasmus Murk to lend me a few of his books, I can tell you... never met the man...." She shook herself out of that rabbit hole. "A bad time for everyone. That's the one universal of war. Nobody has a good time. Humans, Atlanteans, Lemurians... you. Maybe one of the experiments..." Was that it? Some ancient experiment? Was that the Crow family? "You are strange. Even for your own people. Why? How? Can one change one's nature? I ... err... am asking for a friend, you see?"

For the record, Luke can recognise lizard shit with his supersenses

Captain Cosmos "Blacklight! A fine name, a fine suit! A fine hero!" said Captain Cosmos. "Clothes maketh the man, do they not? You know have a mantle, and with a great mantle comes a great man. Think! You were on one road, were you not? Thinking a suit could give you another, better road? How true! Think what you could do now. A life of wretchedness. Bad sleep. Unloved. A gnawing in your gut everynight, wondering how you ended up in the pit you dugyourself. This option is yours... but think! Now you have that suit on, do you not feel something greater in your grasp? A life of adulation, a life of adventure, a life of heroics! Every night, dreaming of satisfaction. Your gaze is met by respect, not fear. Friends behind your back, not knives!" He paused for breath, and let his hands make grand Shakespearean gestures. "You are Blacklight now! Scourge of evil! Hero of Freedom City! This cape, this legacy, is yours to forge! Are you bold enough to seize it? Or will it slip from your grasp and seed a hundred years of bitter lamentations?"

GM The grate cracked and splintered into dust at the gentlest of taps. It did not improve the smell at all. The metal rust seemed to sizzle in the toxic waste. "Noblesse Oblige..." sighed the Professor. "Whoever came out with that crap didn't have to swim in crap, I wager..." Nevertheless he stiffened his spine, stiffened his lips, and lowered himself through the mud, excrement, and toxic fumes. It was enough to make ones nose pull itself off ones face, slither up the face, and make a leap for freedom. It was dark, and liquid, and stinky. The professor brought out a torch, turned it on. It flickered until he gave it a tap. A beam of light swept across the fetid liquid they stood on (up to knee high) that slowly flowed in one direction. The masonry was crumbling. "19th Century sewer architecture, I think..." said the Professor, his historical fascination overcoming the stench for a moment. "Forgotten, abandoned. Quite the hazard, I think..."

Luke can make a DC 10 Life Sciences roll to try and identify the smell of turds and excrement... If he wishes to use beginners luck to try and reach DC 20 let me know

GM Huckleberry gave a huge and cheeky grin that would not have looked out of place on an evil mastermind. "Enjoy!" he said, held his nose and scampered off. Luke could feel Huck chuckling as he left. The sneakers safely (ish - this was a trailer park after all) placed under a rusted and probably hazardous oven from what looked like the 19th century, Luke could feel the sodden ground under his feet. He would surely get some kind of fungal infection or rash after this escapade, and quite possibly blood poisoning if there was any crack in his skin... The hole in the ground led downwards at a horrible sloop. Mud - earth and poisonous water mixed together - made him slip and slide. If it was not for him amazing dragon vision - able to penetrate the solid darkness - he surely would have taken a tumble. Less helpful was his amazing dragon nose, which informed him of the amazing assortment of toxic chemicals that swirled the air. Eventually he reached a sewer. Broken, chipped masonry, a torrent of horrible water. The sewer looked ancient - a century or two old, forgotten, in a state of disrepair. And the smell of rats, and rat excrement. And... something else. Something alive, and something that produced its own flavour of turd.

Snakebite There was no doubt in Snakebite's mind who this serpentine figure was. "Lemurian..." It was a whisper. Awe, shock, entrancement. So long a slithering thought in her head, referenced in dusty tomes and oral myths. And here it was, in the flesh. She had never seen one before. How? What? Why? What was this thing and how had it come to be here? And why? And a dozen dozen other questions, all fighting to reach her lips first. She pressed her lips thin against each other and spoke in a calculated slow tone. "Yes. Yes, I would hear you story." She sat on the floor, kneeling, waiting.

GM The Professor rolled his eyes. King Cole could hear him mutter under his breath. "Dear Gods, is she actually insane?" He pulled his eyes back to King Cole and forced a steely calm to his voice. "Court Librarian? Well, I suppose I have been called worse. It is not a bad position, so let us play along. Yes, I fear we must - in the name of certainty - venture into the sewers. An unpleasant, nay revolting task, but such is the duty of any civic minded person. And yes, I will join you..." He took off his tweed jacket, his tweed waistcoat, but kept his tweed pants on. "Come then, how to proceed?" The rusted grill looked like it would crumble if one breathed on it too hard, but it might be a bit of a squeeze for either of them. They were, however, both of thin build so it was entirely feasible. The bigger was the toxic smell, the toxic liquid seeping and bubbling from the grill... And what might be below, in ancient and forgotted (and no doubt filthy) sewers?

Captain Cosmos Captain Cosmos could see for the smoke. But the Thug wouldn't know that, right? And besides, Captain Cosmos could hear perfectly well. Smoke didn't block hearing. The smashing statue made Captain Cosmos wince. The horror! Such disrespect! For both art and Daedelus! "How about Prison-shift?" he shouted. "Seeing as that's where you will be going! That's if my COSMIC VISION doesn't DISINTERGRATE you first! Haha! You didnt think about that, did you? With my COSMIC VISION I can see through smoke as if looking through a glass window!" He could do not such thing, of course. He kind of wished he could. It sounded cool. "BUT if you cease and desist now there is no need for me to ATOMISE your body!" he added. He had no real expectation of surrender; it was an extremely long shot. But he lost nothing by trying, and with a bit of luck, the thug would be silly enough to quip a response, and perhaps give away his location...

Gamma Buzz "You aim true, my marine friend! Almost as if you had Cockroach agility!" said Baz, giving two thumbs up. "Right then..." He tensed, summoning up all the gamma energy in his body, forcing it from his veins, his beating heart, his twisted intestines, up, through, into his eyes. "GAMMA BUZZ, BABY!" he yelled. Every ounce of available energy, and perhaps something more - derived from sheer will - was put into a blinding blast of green gamma laser, shooting straight forward!

Baz will use extra effort for this blast (a damage 10 effect)

GM "The petrified egg? My notes are not complete..." said the Professor, hands in lapels, nose upturned, voice cracking slightly. "By which I mean, with vexatious honesty, I am not sure. Despite my extensive research and experience, I do not know the full details. In truth, I have been rather busy of late. Dozens of cursed artifacts turned up in North and South America over the last few months. Even a... Ninentendo!" He shuddered. "The Egg, I think, is Egyptian in origin. Or at least, has been in Egypt for centuries, if not longer. Myths circulate, a crocodile? a snake? Some mythological beast of the Nile. And then, if we go back even further, the myths are even more obscure. Atlantis? Mu? Perhaps the true origin of the egg was not Egypt, but some sunken island, some prehuman civilisation. I cannot be sure. The further back you go, the more obscure the source material..." He sighed. "But it is undoubtedly cursed. Toxic, one might say. The Egyptian myths and legends talk of its pestilence on the Nile...."

Snakebite "Take nothing? I can do that," said Snakebite, confidently despite the lack of confidence. I mean, it sounds the right thing.. in principle.... but shiny things can be shiny.... "Right then. No gifts. Nothing. Zilch. Zip. The number of things that I will take is zero, and zero will be the number of things that I take." She gave two thumbs up. Despite her genuine concern for the professor - and the desire to see him alive, well, and full of interesting insights - the itch was overpowering her. The need to scratch at her past. She could propel her mind far into the past, but only so far. And certain areas were a howling blackness, a dangerous black pit of insanity. And her heritage was one of them. She had been bitten by a Lemurian artifact, poisoned with a Lemurian toxin, something that would have killed most. And yet she survived. Did she, and the Crow family, have some taint? The same taint that gave most of them some Eldritch sight, and the particular mixed fortunes that ran through her family for generations. "Lets see the Wise Man then!" she said, a speck of impatience crawling over her lips.

Pitch "Betsy Brooks, huh?" said Carmen, smoke pouring from her mouth with every word. With the demon in her veins, her throat had a resonant, projectile quality. "I think I heard of you..." she said with a smile. The name did ring a bell - Pitch had locked horns and drunk whiskey with plenty of urban magicians and the like. Names got spoken. Betsy Brooks was one of them. "I'm Pitch," she said to the others. "I may look like a devil. I may act like a devil, but I'm not..." she said, with a smile, bringing out her shotgun and pumping it. A rocksalt cartridge fell into the chamber. Of course, Pitch did it too look cool. She could be far more deadly than any shotgun. "I'm here to kick demon ass. Or any other ass, if it needs kicking!" She gave a little chuckle and lay the tip of the shotgun over her shoulder. "Who are you guys?" she asked the twins, and the out-of-breath woman in the feather mask.

GM "Protect people? Are you kidding me?" said Sunshade, scoffing. "I am an immortal spirit born from the age of the serpent people, born of human sacrifice and slavery, nursed by the cult of the yellow sign, driven by the will of the one of whom we cannot speak, and you are asking me to protect people! Ha...! I haven't had such a laugh since... since.... hmmmm.... what happened to the... time? Hmmm.... asleep?" Sunshades confusion added a note of vexation to his voice. He lashed out. "Look... look you ursine oaf!" Scuttling around the shadows of the pavement cracks, he pointed... A parked car, a middle aged couple inside. The woman was punching the man... hard. Not your normal slaps. The womans red face was contorted in fury, and her fists were pounding his ears, his eyes, his teeth. He already had two shiners and was spitting blood. Two laughing teenage girls were taking a video of the scene, ready to post on social media.

Point Baz in the right direction, @The Sailor (with an IC), and Ill post an IC Blast!

GM "Cheese it?" What the hell was the man talking about? Instinctively, the Captain put up his arms and turned his head to one side as the smoke filled the air. He didn't need to breathe, not any longer, and no poison would affect him. But the instinct of two score years as regular Buddy Brand had not died. Perhaps it never would. It made him angry - with himself. "You're not getting away from me, sunshine!" he yelled. But of course despite his immense strength, he coudn't see them. He couldn't see more than six inches from his face. He couldn't grab something he couldn't see. But he still couldn't let them get away. It was no doubt a further bruise to his sanity, but he had pride to consider, as well as a right spirited need to protect the public and blah blah etc etc yada yada... who am I kidding, it's pride... He reached out into the fog, and, drawing on a myriad menu of esoteric dimensions, proceeded to punch and rip a hole in the multiverse. With a splintering sound, like shattering glass, the whole area was covered in planes of shattered dimensions, showing strange and confusing images, little slits into other universes. And, with a bit of luck, those shards would imprison the crooks!
-
Visual obscure I guess? Lamentably, no super senses for the Captain! So he is going to try and snare them by RIPPING A HOLE IN THE INFINITE MULTIVERSE! AP: Snare 12 (Extras: Area [Burst], Transparent, Backlash, Feats: Affects Insubstantial 2, Dimensional 2, Progression [Area] 3 [x10], Flaws: Range [Touch], Shatters [1 bruise or injury will completely destroy snare]) [43/43 PP PP]) "Dimensional Sunder" (Rips a hole through dimensions, covering everyone in shattered shards of different dimensions) Which might degrade his sanity even more, but he is feeling fiesty!
