  1. GM The Duke appeared to be the only one excited at the spectacle. Dr Sin had a look of snide curiosity. Morgen had a look of pure determination. If nothing else, this was a woman who had burnt out her own eye. This was not a woman who was short on determination. She was will. The gardens of the Duke were splendid, as one might predict. Antiquated, perhaps. Even a little overgrown in areas. Trees with overhanging brances overhead, statues with a vaguely erotic form. Fragrant flowers were everywhere, as was their scent. Morgen had no cleaned, but she had at least put on some non-descript clothes. She was still barefoot and bare limbed. She gripped the sword she had given birth to her in her coccoon. Frost, astute to such matters, could tell she was not a fencer. She was a hunter, strong limbed, brutal, determined. She had experience, of a sort, in the adrenaline rush of fighting, but not training. "Any last words?" she demaned of Comrade Frost. "Oh! Does this break any laws? I am innocent of any law breaking you see? So...ahem...I totally dissaprove of this action, but lamentably am powerless to stop it!" he said clearly, with a little cheeky glint in his eye. "You worry to much about the Law. It is not for such as you an I" answered Doctor Sin. "Damn the laws! Do what is right!" proclaimed Morgen, still waiting on Frost to reply to her request for last words.
  2. Echohead would, I think, work reasonably well. He is PL8 but edits (well out of date edits, actually) put him at PL10.
  3. You can confirm what North is saying is essentially true regarding WEST. Its in a proposal stage, and everyone wants it up, but of course everyone is also arguing about the small print. As for North, he is a medical doctor and biochemical researcher by trade, a smart man with decades of experience in the W.H.O. His blend of diplomatic and scientific skills are believed to make him perfect for the job. And he clearly is very comptent at both.
  4. GM "Secret? No. Not secret" said North, quite relaxed. "Unformed. Unadvertised. And thus often unknown. There is perhaps, a need for secrecy. Regularly publishing how this dimensional wormhole or this mutant virus nearly wiped out the planet would not really be in anyones interest" he explained. "But we are not a secret. And have no intention of being one..." "This is all in the planning stage, you see. The principle is agreed on, but...well, I have 193 member states of the United Nations to deal with. Plus several international organisations. Plus...well, dealing with exotic science is important, but you can appreciate that many states and persons want to get their hands on novel science. Or at the least are paranoid about other states getting there hands on it. I have to deal with a few dozen intelligence agencies, both national and international, to ensure that no terrorists or spies are on my team...it is...in short....a collosal headache..." He sighed. "The details are all being argues. I doubt there will ever be an agreement except for the most important one. The world needs protection from scientific anomalies that are now popping up every year or more. Any one could potentially be a catastrophe..." He frowned. "Its my job to be a diplomat and a scientist. Its spinning plates. And I cant give you any easy answer as to what we do when we find the Glass woman. Try to negotiate. Play the diplomat. Our role is to protect the world...what we do with novel science is a matter for politicians, I am afraid..." "Although Ill speak candidly. I personally would rather throw something dangerous into a bubbling pool of acid rather than let the world fight over it..."
  5. WHatever you want! I like an occasionall bad loss, but its personal preference
  6. You can...next round...but Gravedigger up first! Swipe again: 1d20+10 29 ouch... Now that happens to be a crit to compound misery. Which is a DC 30 Tough Save!
  7. Ok! Dramatic! Will you post a reaction? Round 2 19 Gravedigger - Bruised x4, Staggered 14 Fascimile - Bruised, Staggered, Fatigued, Shaken - 3 HP
  8. GM As Fasciomile approached, the Gravedigger muttered something inaudible under his breath. "Its a spell!" called out Pixie, with sharp hearing. Indeed it was. The Gravediggers image swayed and swirled in a dizzing eldritch manner, and before you could say Shazam! there were six or seven Gravediggers surrounding him. "Its an illusion!" called out Pixie, helpfully. Illusion or not, all images heaved a tired breath and then lunged forward, the machete point crunching into Fascimile.
  9. Ok so here we go! First off, Gravedigger will activate his mystic illusions: Concealment (All Senses, Limited to miss chance) - essentially a "mirror image" spell. He only has one standard action a round, so no capoeria feints. Just a plain old swipe. Swipe: 1d20+10 24 Damage 10 effect, just enough to get through impervious. So thats a DC 25 Toughness Save
  10. Init Roll please! Initiative: 1d20+7 19 for GD
  11. GM "It wont end your way, either" replied the Gravedigger. "Killing wont ever end. Just be that some of us got the heart to try and stop it" he said. He gripped his machete. "You and me, then. If that's the way it gotta be, then thats the way it will be. I ain't going to kill you, just put you down a little...." With that, he advanced...
  12. GM "Justice and healing mean killin' sometim'" hissed the Gravedigger. "I can go to me grave if I need to. What I cant do is let 'im live. If he does, he gonna keep on risin' the undead. And they gonna eat brains. They gonna kill. So, Imma choose killin one witch-man. Better 'an killin a hundred or more by lettin' im live..." "If somebody 'ad done what I'm going to do, then maybe my wife and children still be alive" he added, bitterly. "So what you gonna do, coward? Try stoppin' me thinkin that brave? It no brave. It be coward. You going to be killin' by not doing nuthin. But jus' so your hands not got bloody, you feel all proud and heroic. Pfah! You ain't got no way of stoppin im. Theres only one way...." "So get out of my way or Ill go through ya...."
  13. GM "My head is lost already" answered the lamenting face which seemed to flow through a thousand different heads in a second, each more sad than the last. The zombies surrounding Fascimile were almost dust already, thanks to the Gravediggers spill, and the slightest tough caused them to disintegrate. NOt to say that Fascimile had a slight touch - no, his super powered punches could punch through steel. With a flurry of swings, the five necromantic horrors surrounding him were gone. The Gravedigger fell to one knee under a barrage of more blows before he gritted his teeth, gripped his machete and once again let loose his subtle spell. The zombies around him became as ash. "I am defeated!" moaned Ludwig. "You are dead!" snarled the Gravedigger, painfully forcing himself to his feet and swinging his machete as he advanced...
  14. Ok ill take some liberty here hope thats ok! As the zombies are still minions (Despite being super tough) and you have takedown attack and they have defence +4, we can say automatic hits, and lets see how many takedown punches we get! Toughness: 5#1d20+1 10 16 2 16 4 All go down thanks to the Gravediggers magic! The remaining five zombies, two on Fax, three on the GD Attack: 5#1d20+4 7 18 12 19 22 two hit GD for another two toughness saves DC 25 Tough: 2#1d20+6 19 18 two more bruises. Gravedigger will once again do his area attack, disintegrating the remaining zombies (as tough now -8). And we are out of combat... Fascimile - Unharmed - Shaken - Fatigued - 3 HP Gravedigger - Bruised x4, Shaken Ludwig - Unharmed Pixie - Unharmed
  15. Just to let you know I haven't forgot about this! Its a complex situation as everyone on the scene is a complicated character with a different agenda. Normally a great feast to indulge in, but as you might suspect I am not emotionally at my peak right now due to bereavement. That said, I hope to get something out today or tommorow!
  16. GM "Confessions are good" said Slate, cracking his knuckles as he unconsciously recalled how he got "confessions" in difficult situations. "Pictures are good to" he continued, the more usual and professional way of police procedure kicking in. "Yeah, you get me that, then I can arrest someone and take all the cre--- I mean, I can take good care of the case" he added, his brain still not working at top speed. "I'd normally ask if you need any help. But first, we ain't got enough boots here to give anybody no help. And second, looks like you don't need no help anyhows. And I suppose third, if you dont get no help, means you don't have to be completely one hundred percent legal. So I tell you what, Ill pull a few tricks here and make sure nobody looks your way. Or if they do, Ill make sure they dont care..."
  17. Diamondlight For a moment, admiring the old classics, August wondered about trying to pull the cars up and refurbishing them as antiques. Such class! The wonderful lines! Yes! But not now, no. Other things to think about. Like those doors. Hexagonal? That didn't fit with any past style he could recall. Although when it came to the sixties, anything was possible with some ultra-cool designer frying his brain on psilocybin. It would be tough to shift. He might work out four or five times a week but he wasn't Phalanx, or Stalwart or any other super strong super hero. Anyway, he decided, he would give it a go. Concentrating a moment, he formed a blue-purple shimmering light in his hand. A crowbar made of Daka energy. And so equipped, set to work trying to open the darn door...

    Depowered!

I probably wont have space to run this now, but probably will have soon. Superheroes losing their powers temporarily is a common enough story, and I would like to run one. If anyone is interested? A few key points Ideally some PCs no more than PL 7 "depowered", and more importantly they have the wits, determination and skills to be cool even with no powers. Generally this will be completely depowered but you could make an argument for a few trivial powers or training powers. The key is this is a radical shift for the character. Ill let the character start off with an extra HP for this! (unless all their powers are devices) Antagonists will of course be scaled back. Common thugs start to be something that might sting, whilst well equipped soldier types can be a real threat. I think this works best for solo threads. PC will of course have powers returned (as long as you wish! or possibly, if you wish, transformed). The depowered status is, by some means, a signal to a mid / low level threat (such as that Mafia boss or bountry hunter you laughed off previously) to seek revenge. you will be pursued. This gives an opportunity for you to run and escape rather than the reverse chase scene (you chasing the bad guy). Do you have ideas how ths would work? what would depower your pc? what kind of thrills might this entail?
  19. Diamondlight "Man, this feels like the sixties" He hadn't actually been alive in the sixties. But he liked the sixties. He wished he had been born in the sixties. Or had lived through it. Well, 2018 would have to do. It wasn't so bad, he thought with a smile. The bank door beckoned, but he was not in a rush. He took time to swing the flash light over the various antiquities and cavernous features, to see if he could try and place what they came from, and when...
  20. GM "I got dem dead!" grinned the Gravedigger. He held up his machete and muttered some incantation Fascimile did not understand. "How rude!" came Pixies invisible voice, as she did unfortunately understand him. Rude or not, it worked. It was hardly visible, but the zombies started crumbling around them. Bits of fingers, toes, and other stuff fell of them. A few ribs too. They looked like they were more dust than flesh. As for Fascimile, he found himself with the violin held in his hand. Something crawled around his what-was-skin on his hand as he held it. This was a disgusting piece of nercomantic artifice. "Give it back!" wailed Ludwig who lashed out furiously at Fascimile. His zombies, crumbling magnificently, still decided to lurch at the two of them. Fascimile felt one slam into his back. As for the Gravedigger, he laughed a pained laugh, and multiplied. Several mirror images floated around his body, making everyone unsure who was who. The Zombies did not care and lurched at all of him, with one clipping him around his head with a wild swing of rotting arm.
  21. Ludwig cannot beat that score, so you have the violin. Irrespective, the zombies are still there (although not under his control any more) Gravedigger will unleash his machete power: an AOE Drain 10 Toughness vs Fort. limited to undead, then do some magic as per IC as a move action. Now they have a reflex of +0 so I am going to waive that and just say they all take a 9 point drain, to have their toughness reduced to 1! Round 2: 31 - Pixie - Unharmed 17 - Ludwig - Unharmed 17 - Zombies - Toughness 1 (Drain) 17 - Fascimile - Unharmed - Shaken- Fatigued - 3 HP 15 - Gravedigger - Bruised, Staggered Ludwig will lash out at Fascimile. He is not strong but he has a brutality to him...Punches Fax: 1d20+10 16 which I think misses. The Zombies will charge, split 50/50 between the two Punch and stuff: 10#1d20+4 17 13 24 17 13 11 23 11 10 7 One hits Fascimile for a DC 25 Toughness One hits Gravedigger for a DC 25 Toughness Tough vs Zombie: 1d20+7 22 meaning the Gravedigger takes a second bruise Fascimile is up (remember he is shaken and fatigued! )
  22. GM Tweed, North, and Replica sat in the ASTO Lab's laboratory. Tweed was hard at work trying to analyse what went wrong - and, for that matter, what went right, with the mimetic glass. He was sweating profusely. North had threatened him with all sorts of legal infractions if he did not "comply". To one side, whilst Tweed worked, North sat with a cup of tea. He was a patient, relaxed man, although clearly clever. He was having a quiet (And secret) conversation with Replica. "Now, I'm guessing you aren't a regular super-scientist woman" he started, slowly and politely. "No need to worry. I'm not on facebook, I won't pas on your secrets" he said. "In fact, you may be just the kind of person I am looking for" he explained. "I work for the World Health Orginisation. And UNISON. Its...complicated" he started, scracthing the back of his neck. "You see, what with more and more disasters of potentially world-ending severity, everyone is looking for an answer. One proposal is something called the world exotic science taskforce. Or WEST" he explained. "We will be trying to pick up and investigate all types of threats before they materialise. From the Darwin-X virus to Terminus portals. The world needs people to stop the worst happening. Its a bit like how the world health organisation stops plagues and pandemics. We are going to try and do the same for all the scientific threats..."
  23. GM "Not so moved by my music?" said Ludwig, dissapointed. "Then if grief will not sway your heart, grief you shall come to..." he said, his sad voice now blended with cruel determination. A horrible jig was played, and the ground errupted in cold dirt and the smell of rotting flesh. From the earth ten corpses had jumped, and now covorted this way and that in a strage dance macarbe. These were not the corpses that Fascimile had smashed before. The flesh and bone and rot was the same, but they were sheathed in vile green energies, potent and powerful...
  24. Pixie, as normal, just staying invisible. Ludwig will use his violin to summon killer zombies! Fax is up!
  25. Paralyse, Alt Save [Fort], Ranged. Poison extra if you want that effect. The poison extra does not mean that damage is caused, just that another save is needed a minute after the first save.
