  1. GM Pyeow! Pyeow-Pyeow! The gunshots were hardly aimed, but bullets flew from the three men's revolvers in attempt to deter any agressive action from the Scarab. "Its a set - up! Lets get out of here! Shoot her! Into the car!" came the rat-tat-tat of opinions on how to proceed on the matter. There was no concensus, for fear and primitive thinking took over. One fool stood still, feet planted, his tongue sticking out in concentration, determined to plug the Scarab with his pistol. The other two men decided to cut and run, one on foot, one by car. As for the North African man, he panicked more than the others. "Bluh-bluh-bluh! I'm innocent!" he yelped, despite all evidence clearly in refute of this outrageous statement. His feet had a mind of their own, and he started running to the powerboat by the docks he had arrived in...
  2. GM This is emergency dispatch! What is the state of your emergency? Fortunately, Replica was smart and fast enough to hold two conversations at once. A useful talent, for... "What the hell are you doing down here?" said Treestock, angry now. He was sweating, out of breath from dancing all night and ruminating on irritating conversations, and he was, one could see, thoroughly perfused with irritation. And his irritation was directed quite clearly at Replica and the Glass woman. The guard by his side froze, out of fear and indescicion. "And who is who?" added Treestock, his eyes turning from the Glass woman to Replica and back again. "It is I, my love, it is I!" whispered the Glass Woman, full of joy.
  3. Replica -Unharmed - Fatigued - 2 HP
  4. GM "See? Its power is extraordinary!" said the small north african man, keenly. His enthusiasm (As opposed to his nerves) was infectious, and the three dealers nodded to each other. "We would be very interested in such a weapon" they said. "What is its power source?" "A Daka Crystal! But...highly unsta...highly powerful!" said the man, correcting himself quickly. "We can handle unstable. As long as it is powerful" the men said. "We can arrange transport into the States. Smuggling is not a problem, although it will reduce the price" they said, switching into business and barter mode. "Yes, yes...of course!" agreed the small man, keen to make a sale and, it seemed, get the weapon out of his hands...

    Head West

GM July 31st, Late Evening It was a hot, languid night, with hot, languid tempers lolling this way and that on the streets of Freedom City. The Docks were cooler, thank the Gods, with the sea air gently taking the dge of the heat. 'Twas here that the Scarab spied. Mind reading was a handy talent for a crime fighter. From street thugs to shady dealers, it got her the inside scoop on todays deal. A meeting. Someone from the underground villanous organisation, the Labyrinth ,was meeting an arms salesman. The nervous salesman had arrived by boat under cover of night. He was a small, twitchy man, with a North African look to him, and a thick beard. He might well appear to the ignorant or malicious, a terrorist from first glance. A reason indeed for him to be twitchy. He was waiting, twitching away, when a black sedan drove up beside him, and three much larger men got out. "What have you got?" "I...I...can't bring it here" said the North African man. "...I can't get it into the states. It's...unstable, you see? Risky...very risky...." The large men seemed distinctly unimpressed. "It's real, I tell you...look!" said the North African man, showing them a video clip on his phone. This made the large men much more impressed after they saw the clip...
  7. Indeed you can! Extra effort allows the use of a feat you dont have, in this case: An alt power of your base power, data link. That power will last as long as you keep communication active (I think its sustained as base, so unless you get stunned or dazed or KOd, as long as you wish!)
  8. Sorry technically that would be the communication power. That would be easy enough to stunt off data link, however. RAdio sense would allow her to pick up radio transmissions, not transmit them.
  9. GM Outside... As entertaining as the dancing giant was, modern audiences tired quickly, and the fascination (once the scene had been digitally captured and uploaded to a thousand and one media platforms) was waning slightly. On a positive note, the police had yet to arrive, and the security guards outside were fundamentally clueless as to how to proceed. This was, after all, a dancing giant, and quite outside their skills, experience, training, or one might harshly speculate, their intelligence. They were hired for big muscles and harsh natures rather than superior executive cognitive functions...
  10. Im not sure she has the tools to do that? (Super Senses) - although if she can get a sample and analyse it under a microscope etc it would be Knowledge (Physical Sciences). That said, she is smart and can of course deduce that she is made of the mimetic glass that was stolen, and can speculate it has the same broad properties as glass.
  11. GM "Water it is, sir. And hot, as you like it. Steaming, it shall be!" declared the Duke nodding to the butler, who in turn nodded and scuttled off to boil the kettle. "It depends on the business" said Sin, looking quite comfortable. His smile could not have been broader, a man quite elated with himself, perfectly relaxed in composure. He was wearing most expensive slippers and chinese dress. The Duke, for his part, was full of gauche nineteenth century regal ware. "Oh business, toosh and boosh! Pleasure first, say I. And pleasure last, too, I would add!" he said, clapping his hands like a childish seal. "What brings you to my humble establihsment, Mister Cold?" he asked Frost. "Lets just ignore all that hoosh and smoosh about breaking and entering. So tedious, the law. Quite boring. How it stifles art and soul!" he sighed. "YOu can invite your ogre in, too, if it pleases you. He sounds quite splendid! Just don't damage the Ming dynasty antiques!" he said with a wink. "No indeed" said Sin, dry but with his air of magnificent victory already won. "Are you here to admire my art? Or regale us with tales of daring do? Or are you going to be tedious and boring?" he asked Comrade Frost directly, smiling quite cheerfully.
  12. The Emerald Spider is probably the best fit? Although I can see an Anomaly in Africa calling on the White Lioness' skills.
  13. GM "No...we do not have to fight" echoed the Glass woman. "I..do wish to learn more about you. But I cannot leave my love" she said firmly. "He sang to me, and I love him. I cannot do otherwise. I cannot be apart from him" she said, just as firmly. "My love! My love! Where are you?" she called out loudly. "Does this form please you? Is it beautiful?" she called out, just as loudly. She seemed intent now, even frantic, to be once again with Treestock. And, given the guards dissapearance back to the upper levels of the club in search of Treestock, she would presumably not have to wait long!!!
  14. GM "Panstar? Never heard of them" sniffed Scooter. "But if they are golly-gosh-darn-it extremists, I'm going to ram them over!" For half a second, she revved the engine. Then gave a coarse laugh. "Only Jokin' Whaddya take me for, some Redneck?" she guffawed. That said, she drove straight past them and shouted an obscenity at them as she did. The two men looked at each other, and jumped in the VW. "That showed em!" roared Scooter, taking a look in the rear view mirror. "Wait! They are following us!" And following them they were. And gaining speed. The chase was on!
  15. GM "They call me Scooter. Don't know why. Guess I scoot around" laughed Scooter. She drove the pick up pretty fast. Perhaps this was why she got her name. "Say, whose that? Think they need help too?" she asked, half a mile down the small road. On the road in front were two of the eco-warriors, in a beaten up old VW, apparently on the look out....
  16. GM A pick up truck, bronze in colour, pulled up and a woman leant out. She was robust of frame, which meant strong and fat, although mainly fat. About fourty, one would guess, with a broad grin, baseball cap, and "I EMERALD CITIES" t shirt that was slightly sweaty. "You all right there, honey? Look like you in bad shape!" she called out to him as she flicked open the passenger seat door. "You want me to take you to a hospital or something?" she asked.
  17. GM As Vladmir ran across the dead grass, through dead wood and dead moss, he tasted something bad in his mouth, crawling into his lungs. Something like dust and blood mixed together. It was altogether unpleasant, and seemed to settle in his chest. By the time he reached a dirt track, he had to stop for a deep breath and a deep cough. Here, however, he could feel the trees and grass were alive again. Mossy was not planning to blow the plant up imminently, she had said. But neither was she waiting long - a day at most. And Dirk's absence was another factor to consider. It was a thirty or fourty miles back to Emerald City. A long run indeed. But at least the stars were out, twinkling and beautiful. A major road might get better luck, if he could hitch a ride...
  18. Heri> Sure thing Tarra> No probs the one/day thing is a loose principle rather than a "do this or else". I just want to ensure people are committed to fairly regular posting rather than a couple of posts a month and wax / waning interest. If you want Dara in, then in Dara is.
  19. Tekton - Unharmed - 2 HP
  20. GM A wave of vibration (or a vibration of waves, depending on your quantum perspective) flowed through the air and hit Dirk with a spectacular punch. He flew a dozen yards over the dead grass, and ended up in a cloud of dust. The rope around Vladmir unwound and untwined, virtually disintegrating under the force. And, unfortunately, Vladmir noticed that Dirks gas mask had pretty much exloded right off his face. It lay twenty feet from Dirk, and there was not enough of it left to protect a mouse from inhaling whatever toxins were in the air - let alone a chap like Dirk.
  21. Dirk cant possibly manage that DC so he is out, and the rope is destroyed as per your wishes. If you wish, you may activate a complication in having your and dirks gas masks evaporate too (if you feel it suits Tek / his powers are not precise enough when bound in rope etc)
  22. GM "I'm not the scientist" replied Dirk, gruffly, ignoring the jibe. "That's what Bookworm is for. Me? I'm the guy who blows stuff up" he said, straight to the point. As they walked, the flora changed from dying, to dead, to what might well be worse than dead. "Look around you? Think this is worth saving? You seriously saying we shouldn't blow something like this up?" he asked. "Some fat company, Panstar, can bribe a hundred lawyers and twice as many officials to make sure they don't answer to anybody. You think that's right?" he asked again, pointedly. "You got your head stuck up the other end of your body if you can't see what we doing is right" he explains. "And it sure beats getting blown up in Afghanistan" he added, sourly.
  23. GM Still roped up, Dirk put a gas mask on Vladmir's face. "Ease up with the tongue, idiot, or you can do this with nothing. See how funny you are puking your guts up and letting the other end play hell on the grass" he grinned. As for himself, he put another gas mask on. It turns out DIrk and Vladmir were doing the recon. But Vladmir was still roped up. "We haven't got long. A day, maybe two" explained Mossy. "Sooner or later, this place...we...will be discovered. We need to finish this blemish as soon as we can" she said, firmly. "For the Earth!" she raised her voice and her fist, and those in ear shot saluted in kind. Dirk pushed Vladmir in front of him, keeping one hand on the rope. "Come on hero, time to do your job!" he said, grimly, marching Vladmir through the cut wire fence onto the grounds of the plant.
  24. Cool I will leave this open a bit longer to see if anyone else bites but I am happy to run with two.
  25. The Ropes are DC 19 to Escape. Dirk has Dex 12 so base DC 21, however a -2 penalty as you got tied up in a hurry. (That is, if you wish to escape artist them!)
