Diamondlight "How illuminating" commented Auguste, grateful to be on terra firma once more. He was hardly a coward, but it wasn't an easy thing on the nerves, that trip. He creaked his neck back into shape and shrugged his jacket back into place. "FIrst door on the right, down to the cellar, follow the lights. Get strapped to a long lost medieval iron maiden, scream in agony as interrogated on the location of hidden Nazi gold. Got it. Simple" he said. Witticism, asides, he could hardly turn from the course set in front of him. Not now. He had to find out what was going which, by his judgement, meant a clever melding of caution and boldness. And it started with entering the warehouse and following the directions...

GM "I do. I remember that real good..." croaked Creek. "I was swinging by the Neck and pumped full of lead. Sentenced to die for all the no good nothin' I been doin'. Thing was, the Witch that cursed me wanted me for somethin' else. They wanted vengeance. They got me..." He kept his gun levelled. "Now, I ain't complainin. I may not be livin' no more, and I may not be breathin'. But I ain't stopped movin'...now you go and break the curse, I'm just dust and worm meat. So I ain't telling you nuthin'. The world gonna have to live with me. Or die with me, dependin' on how I'm shootin'....I ain't stoppin, and you ain't stoppin me..." Creek holstered his pistol. "But as far as I am tellin', you ain't killed nobody. That means its gonna hurt me, if I hurt you. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a whippin', and Ill take one if you get in my way too much. But I ain't going to take a whippin' without good reason" he explained. "You can't stop me. Nobody can stop me, 'sfar as I know. And I know pretty good..." he said, confidently. "Now, I gotta get me a horse. And you ain't stoppin me from doing that, son..." he finished, holsetering his pistol and turning away, treading his boots towards the barn...

Diamondlight "I hope you have a parachute" muttered DIaomndlight. He couldn't fly. Falling would hurt. Or possibly only hurt for an instant and then not hurt at all. "Well its a nice view. And I am apparently in no rush" he answered more breezily. "I can't see any bullets or rifles, anyway" They were far up, it was true, but he could see very far indeed. "So lets go. Short of hitching onto a rocket, I cant see a way of going faster. Although flying lower would be my preference...."

GM The inside of the tumbledown building looked very much like the outside, except worse. The smell was enough to putrify Arrowhawk's nostrils, so one would imagine that the Nose would be tortured. Inside, it was cool bordering on cold, with dusty air that seemed to do an excellent job of holding dirt. The scared woman was huddled in a rag blanket that looked like it was harbouring lethal microbes and probably was. She was admittedly slightly less scared. The Detective was sitting by her, in his trench coat, with pale silver eyes, trying to talk to her. A mixture of calm words blended with an insistance on trying to get the facts from her.
-
GM "Beats me" replied Slate. "Shes a pulp" He downed his whiskey trying to collect himself. "I can only guess by her clothes. Working class, but not manual labour. Trying to look professional but without the money to spend on looking that way. Trying to look pretty, but not sexy. My guess, she was a secretary. If you want another guess, she worked there. Only reason anyone would be in the iron works is if they was working there, or else industrial sabotage or theft. And she didn't look like she was into that. Still...who knows?" he said, sour faced. "The boys are trying to track down all the employees. But this is Bedlam. Half of them make are secretly on the take" he frowned. "And the other half are openly on the take..." "I ain't no hero. I have arrangements...you think this city pays enough for me to get shot at? Think again. The Black Pit ain't just for whiskey and broads...."
-
GM Slate was getting drunk, but he was used to that. He wasn't in a great mood, both wanting to vent his sourness via a night with Cherry (Who have a foul look at Lady Horus) but preoccupied with the day. His heart was both in it, and not in it. He raised an eyebrow, cottoning on. And a whiskey was slid from the bar towards Anna. "I don't go around owing people favours" he said, sour. "That's bad business in Bedlam. I have...arrangements. But not favours" he said, firmly. "Even to pretty women". "She ain't pretty, Frankie! Ya got me!" whispered Cherry in his ear. "Shut up, Cherry! I ain't in the mood. Go entertain yourself with Billy" hissed Frank, full of bitter iron. "Suit yourself, loser" retorted Cherry, marching off. Frank seemed unbothered. "What arrangement are you looking for?" he asked Anna carefully.

Gather Information (+10 if security clearance with western intelligence agencies, automatic if AEGIS clearance) DC 20: Echohead is affiliated with AEGIS and trained by them. He is not a full agent but is considered an operative. DC 30: Echohead has psychic abilities including mind reading – hence his value to intelligence agencies. Physically mediocre (at best), AEGIS has given him high tech equipment (a blaster pistol and composite armor). DC 40: Echohead has the ability to “Copy” brain patterns into his own, which can cause psychic instability but also allows him to gain the skills and abilities of anyone he copies. He can only copy one mind at a time. Knowledge [Behavioural Sciences] (+5 if access to psychological reports / profile, -5 if no personal interactions with Echohead/Umberto) DC 20: Echohead shows signs of low self esteem and poor confidence, speculatively due to sustained bullying growing up. DC 25: Echohead also shows sign’s of a dependent attachment to maternal figures. DC 30: There are signs of low level dissociation when exerting his powers, suggestive that the he assumes some personality traits of people he uses his powers on. Knowledge [Business] DC 15: Echohead is the owner of Velluti Violets, although he no longer runs the place. DC 20: will give indication that it was moderately well run / successful and fundamentally “clean”.

Cool. So we are out of combat but Noose has his gun locked on, so will win the next initiative (as the situation stands).
-
GM It was close, neither Noose nor Sha'ir blessed with a fine pace when it came to running. But still, boots and shoes pounded dirt and tarmac, and in the end, it was the Spellsmith who dove through the portal first. With an elegant reflex, the portal slammed closed and evaporated behind his dive. They were outside Emerald City now. Several miles outside. In corn feilds, with wood and earth and dirt for company. A few tractors, a few horses and cattle. Some sheds. But nobody around that Sha'ir could see. Noose turned around, gun in hand. "What now, sorcerer?" he asked. "I don't go round killin' those that ain't killed. Not as a rule. But yer gettin' in my way, and I ain't so fond of warlocks and witches, I can tell ya that" he said, angry. His gun was pointed at Sha'ir but it didn't fire. Not yet, anyway.

Diamondlight "Can't go wrong flying Swiss Air" commented Diamondlight, clinging on as hard as he could. He had the feeling the woman could break his arms pretty easily. The air was already cool, but getting cooler as they arose. He wasn't bothered though - the Daka energy that had bonded with his cells kept him warm whatever the temperature. "I'll have a tomato juice with a dash of Worcestershire sauce. Maybe some salted peanuts? Perhaps a Bond Movie for inflight entertainment" he asked, feeling the wind on his face. "Where are we flying to, anyway?" he finished, a host of questions burning inside - although he judged that the destination was the most pertinent one...

GM The answer came back in Mandarin of fair fluency. "<Rather you than me>" The Russian Embassy was apparently not the most popular of places, and the Russian diplomats not the most popular of places. But then, this was Hong Kong. Everybody kind of had to get along; a philosophy born from its history. Sonny Cho was apparently just as fluent in Mandarin as Cantonese and English, and nodded his way through the conversation. "<I was just arranging transport for these diplomats>" he said, diplomatically - and he was diplomatic. "<Don't want to create a scene obviously!>" he added cheerfully. On this matter, there was a clear consensus from the Cops. Nobody wanted a scene! And so... Sonny, Dreadnought, Voin and Comrade Frost sat in the back of a truck that could just take their combined weight. Sonny had told the driver to drive in circles, for now. The truck was nearly empty bar a few boxes of dried noodles - but lamentably no water to add. "I'm here to help" explained Sonny. "Immortal, like you. A hundred years old and I have lived in Hong Kong all my life. I pretty much run Club Immortus here. It's save my life a few times, I can tell you" he said, wiping his brow. "I don't know kung fu and I don't shoot laser beams out of my head. I'm not a sorcerer or infused with cosmic energy. So I can't help you there. But I am immortal, I can speak to anything alive, and I know Hong Kong better than pretty much anybody. So consider me at your disposal..."

Do they believe?: 1d20+4 13 Not quite enough for a complete win, but its close enough to take the heat off!

GM "Frank? What you want with Frank?" muttered Billy, moderately vexed. "He's a no good, withered up. Still working like a chump" he protested. "You could do better than him, lady" he smiled through a mist of intoxication. "But if you going to get him in trouble, then that's good by me. As long as its the money type of trouble not the sexy type" he clarified. "Just don't do it in the Black Pit, huh, honey? We got a code here. No shootin' or fightin'" he said more firmly. This, it seemed, was a fairly robust code of practice. "And after ya done with your money, I'll buy you a drink!" he said more cheerfully.

GM And so... The detective (or at least, the silver eyed man who had claimed to be a detective) had said the woman had gone to Shotgun Simon, an infamous (or famous, depening on your prepsctive) tramp. "The Knight Tramp" they called him in a rather thin pun. And yes, he had a shotgun. He was holed up in a near - collapse brick building that was fifty years old, looked a hundred years old, and had the structural integrity of a building two hundred years old. One had the impression that if one looked at it too hard, it might collapse. The detectives car was outside. "They there are! Ooof...the stench!" said the Nose, holding his mighty organ in his hand and massaging it.

Thats an edge case I think, although not unreasonable. I think its best handled by allowing it if you use extra effort to do so?

GM "Gluhghmmh..." mumbled Hattie as her hero abandoned her to her vomitous misery. The ocean however, did its job by and large. Physically, the pollution on his body had gone...but psychologically? Well, that might be another matter! Meanwhile... As Mannequin boldly entered the house, he saw Block Head standing over the largely (but not completely) fused body of Imprint, only her face and the bulges of her body visible in the concrete floor. Her eyes flicked over to him, angry. "Bother!" she muttered. To punctuate her vexation, there was a deep rumbling in the house, and the ceiling and walls cracked. In a blistering display of force, Mannequin was subjected to a barrage of falling and propelled bricks, masonry, and mortar...
-
Right my apologies I lost track of this thread! And we are near the end! Round 2 35 - Dr D - Sickened Status (DC 18 to Recover) 2 HP [Far away....] 21 - The House/Imprint - Unharmed 5 - Manneq - 2 HP 4 - Block Head Dr D just moved and earned himself an HP from his complication. The House/Imprint will now try collapsing / throwing some masonry at Mannequin. As this essentially is hurting it, that gives the house an Injury automatically. However, it is also a Damage 10 Area effect on Mannequin (Roll Reflex DC 20 and then Toughness DC 25/20 according to reflex)! Block Head is caught up in the masonry flying but as it is impact damage, which he is immune to, no effect. Mannequin is up!

GM The Crowd where not homogenous; responses varied from cheers, adulation, neutrality, suspicion, resentment, fear. The overall atmosphere was a tendency to watch the marvels and take photographs - it was not, for the most part, one of antagonism. But now the crux of the problem materialised. For practically in the same second, police cars rolled up as did a very large truck, thanks to Cho's frantic phone calls. "What's going on here!" said one police man, coming out of the first car of five. He wasn't reaching for his gun, but neither was his hand far away. His English was quite reasonable, as so often the case in Hong Kong. His words had more the flavour of a statement than a question. His eyes flicked to the Russian Embassy. This was getting more political by the moment...

GM The Nose wrinkled...well, his nose. Once one got past its spectacular size and impressive ugliness, it was a powerful organ indeed. Whether Arrowhawk would find use for his powerful organ, that was the question... "I have them both!" he declared, impressed with the size and power of said organ. "The bleeding man is making his way to his hideout, I think. Best not go there. At least, until you get your spleen patched up. Such a smell, the spleen! Alas, not a pleasant one" he lamented. "The woman! Ah, her nicotine, her sweat, her filth! A blend of homelessness and fear. Yes, she is...wait...yes another smell! A man, following her before the hunters! Hmmm...yes...the same time as you arrived!" he said, wrinkling his nostrils. "What happened?" he asked Arrowhawk, full of curiousity.

IC post. For reference for this scene could you make a Knowledge (Streetwise) roll? YOu might recognise a few faces or pick up on a few issues with high scores.

GM And so, just a little bit later...early evening... At the Black Pit... It was a sweaty kind of place full of sweaty kind of people. Old cops, retired or near retirement, burnt out, drunk, and leaning on each other. They propped themselves up with cynicism and bitterness, taking a kind of noble pride in their open eyes, even if having your eyes open to the world hurt. The Black Pit served booze, of course. It also served ladies of the night (or gentlemen), and Frank was already downing whiskey and talking to a middle aged woman with a little too much make up and a little to small a dress. But although Cherry (for that, apparently, was her name) was attractive and cheap, Frank seemed to be in two minds. And he was drinking heavily in the hope that his two minds might become one. As for Anna, well, she attracted pretty much every eye in the house when she walked in. And plenty of them with a lustful flavour. The Black Pit had both men and women in, most of them cops. They had gay, straight, and every other orientation and identity in. Sure, the Black Pit was about as diverse as you can get, as long as you were a bitter burnt out old cop. One brave soul, who looked older than Frank and thin as you could imagine, came up to Anna and offered to buy her a drink. And gave her a wink. "Billy Brown" he said his name was.
