GM The Ice thing cracked and split with the force of the blow - and for a moment it might have been that it would be sundered in half, but although Dreadnough plunged his fist right into the fleshy thing, it did not stop moving, nor flailing away. As Dreadnought pulled his fist out, it felt cold and empty, and a nasty blue mist circled his hand as if feeding on it. All in all, it was an uncommonly Eldritch, horrible experience. He took a few steps back through the stream, which was starting to ice over. The flailing limbs cracked stone and ice where he had been. A glance to the trees sore the scattered humans fearful but hopeful that Dreadnought would win. And yet, for all that hope, the central fire seemed to diminish in strength...

Tough Save: 1d20+10 29 A good roll! The Thing is fearless so immune to intimidation effects. Bruised! Round 2 25 Ice Thing - Unharmed 6 Dreadnought - Unharmed - 1 HP The central fire is dying, and the stream is icing up. Not enough to bother Dreadnought this round, but it will get slippery next! For now, the Ice thing will carry on flailing away - Flailing Away: 1d20+6 9 and missing, so Dreadnought is up. For reference you can assume in this thread there are trees and rocks everywhere, if improvised weapons are desired!

GM The thing hissed, a tongue a few feet long and full of cold mist like its breath. With speed, it slithered forward giving it a lizard like appearance. But it was hard to look at; not quite here, not quite there. Hard to see. It seemed so hard to look at, like it was there and not there. It circled Dreadnought, agile and fast, but not smart. Its limbs flailed forward, the water in the stream around them splashing and chuning, the central fire flaring embers dramatically. But Dreadnought could take a few steps back away from the flailing limbs. The stones cracked under the force from the creature. It was strong, fast, but lacked skill in its attack.

GM The babble of voices did not stop, and could not be understood. Bar one. The Chief, a man of middle years, with few teeth and plenty of vigour. He was fast, and strong, and scarred from many rites of passage, his hair shocking red, and his eyes gold and green. He wore many furs and a few ornaments. "The Gods give me the gifts of tongues, giant! We have called you here, to the ever burning fires, so that we might be...." There was a crashing and a howl like the coldest wind. And from the forest something cold, black and nasty slithered. Like a snake it was, with a dozen slimy limbs each clawed and ghastly, with no eyes, and barely any form. Twenty feet long and with an oily mist around its form. It was hard to look at, as if not quite there, or transparent, but the stones and moss parted beneath its flesh, such as it was... "Saved from the Ice demons!" gasped the Chief, who was bold and brave, but knew he - like his tribe - were facing something beyond spear or claw!

GM Wales, Aprox 10,000 BCE The last ice age had come and gone, and was consigned to oral mythology along with beasts and demons and cruel Gods of frost and ice. This was a time of humans, scavenging, hunting, and living primitive lives in the forests, hills, lakes and rivers. It was a harsh time, but there was time still for stories and worship, rituals and myths, and even magic. And sometimes, the magic worked. The prayers of the Chief had been answered, for through time - further than ever before - Dreadnought fell, to land in the middle of an vast forest, in a valley with clear water, surrounded by the tribe, with a fire, hot in the centre. Dreadnought could hear plenty of speech but not understand a word of it. But the tribes reaction was clearly startled. With stone spears and hand axes, they kept shocked eye on the giant. They were clean of body, wearing furs and skins, often with red hair, many with scars from accident and ritual. They were young to, by and large - for life was not long in this world, at least by modern standards. Rotten teeth, blemished skin, and sickness marred those even thirty years old, and few indeed would be called old.

GM "Three hundred...thousand?" gasped the Gas Man, before recovering. "I mean, thousand. Sure. That sounds about right" he said, seriously. "I would be happy to take that Job, in..errr....the Bahama's. Real nice this time of year, I hear" he said. "Dollars is good" he added as an afterwards. "Ill just...ah...take this and be on my way then?" he muttered, shielding the case from the view of the other three men who didn't look that interested. "I mean...just take a break?"
-
GM At this, the Gas Man put down his beer and raised his eyebrows. He had a twitch of a smile on his lips. "I am always for hire" he said, standing up confidently. He was in good shape, and had a few scars that indicated he had had his fair share of fights. He was also armed, with a huge pistol by his hip, and some grenades. Predictably, gas grenades. "Mr. Brick pays me very well. For now. Reasonably well" he said, his loyalties shifting with every word. He studied the Doctor very carefully. "Now, I do like a break. A nice long break. But you see, I also have a reputation to uphold. And if my reputation was to be, say, hypothetically, incompetent bribe-taking mercenary with no sense of honour or decency, that would hurt my future earnings very much" he said, with mock sadness. "So, I whilst I would love to take a break, unfortunately I cannot" he said firmly. "Unless I had a lot of money" he added.

And so...A few days later... Autolife Residential Homes Ratchet had insisted on driving them, as he knew Autolife Residential Homes better than anyone. And Mr Brick was, it seemed, their best lead. Ratchet had also insisted on driving the Ratchetmobile. How he got the bucket of rust to stay together, much less function as a vehicle, was beyond understanding. Autolife Residential Homes was no different. The central building looked considerably more built. "It's building itself!" explained Ratchet, wide eyed and a little crazy. But perhaps, after all, it was not crazy. What was a bit disturbing was that the central building seemed to spreading roots - little annexes and out houses were popping up, and the other buildings seemed to be sliding into to fuse, ever so subtly, with the main one. Security was perhaps a bit tighter. Three guards, now. And a grizzled grey haired man reading a cheap and nasty magazine and sipping a beer. His van "Gas Man Solutions" was parked outside the front gate.

Rev "Well that looks just a little bit extremely not good!" declared Rev. She was not an angry sort by nature, but this bought a redness to her neck. "What the hell are you doing to this poor woman?" "Never mind, ill ask again in a bit. And I am sure you will want to answer" She pulled back her fist, and threw an brilliant jet into the centre of the shack, that exploded into a blindingly bright blossom of brilliance. It was a rather pretty purple-blue-red colour, like a sunset. But its effect was the same! Dazzling!

Initiative: 1d20+11 29! As Jack cannot beat that, Ill take the opportunity to post surprise action! Jet Flare! Dazzle 8 Burst Effect!

Thats all good for me. Could you both post IC your inventing process and then (unless you object) Ill cut to - back to Mr. Brick?

Rev This was no time for delay! "Jack, I think someones in trouble. Real trouble! Sounds like she is in danger, in fact! And that means, just cause and laudum causus belli intactus!" she declared, making up some half remembered law about breaking and entering with due cause for life or limb. Or something. It sounded reasonable anyway. So emboldened by imaginary laws, she wound up her fist, and smashed it through the shed, bursting in dramatically. "What's going on here then?" she demanded in a mock cockney accent, before taking in the situation...

Starshot Being under hard rock was satisfying. Of course, Starshot had wandered deserts before, but they were usually devoid of life and less popular for the Safari. Scenic, perhaps - but one dune soon began to look like every other. He could not say he was comfortable in the desert, even experienced as he was. And the shifting worms beneath were not comforting. Hard Rock was. Once again, the military check of equipment. And water, the most precious of all resources out here. He wondered for a moment how the Pirates kept hydrated. A possible vulnerability in a siege - but a siege was unlikely to be attractive. "Two moon rises it is then. Let us ensure good rest. We are not in a hurry, and as long as the desert does not sap our strength, we should make sure we are fully fit" he said, relaxing. "If nothing else, at least time is on our side". And so they relaxed. He did, however, spend a few minutes showing Emorda how his thermal pellets worked. They would start a fire much faster than any wood or flint - and much more reliably. If a fire they needed for distraction, a fire they would get.

That works fine for me: 5 use Mental immunity for both of you! POst that magnificent inventing IC and we shall see what Mannequin can also invent!

Lament "Gwen? Why do you want her?" asked Luther, feeling the growing satiation of the void - much to their mutual relief. He pulled away from the claw, and felt it hitting the door behind him. As strong as he was with the void inside him, he would not want that claw on his face. "She is under my protection, and as you now feel, and soon will know, my protection is fierce indeed...." He reached out with a hand encased in the oily purple shimmer of the Void, and touched the wolf-thing, the parasitic energies of the Void eating up the vitality and strength of the thing...

Maintaining the Emotion Control as a free action. Yummy, the void is feeding! Move action: Feint; Feint on thing: 1d20+10 26! Unshifted touch range fatigue attack: Fatigue attack: 1d20+10 27 If that doesnt hit I would be shocked! so Fatigue 10 effect / Fort Save DC 20

GM The Prince shed a tear and quickly wiped it away, trying to put on a brave face. His lip quivered. "I...yes of course. We cant have anyone dying, can we?" he said, trying to steel some calm into his voice. "The computers are at the bottom of the building. Safest place for them, in case of fires or...well...things like this. Except that means they are not easy to get too..." he mumbled, now beginning to fret. "The camera's however, perhaps we could cut them off, so at least the hacker is blind?" he agreed, more confident. "There is a central spine that runs through the centre of each floor, with power, cable feeds, and everything electronic. Perhaps we could cut it off...or something. I am afraid I am no electrician..." he said, almost ashamed.

Flux Quill could pick up any manner of electromagnetic radiation, and radiowave transmissions were no exception. Transmitting back to a bit of concentration however, as he had to pull apart some atoms and excite some wavelengths. I can indeed, commander. I am approaching the wormhole now... Although, he thought, rather slowly. Still, there was no rush but his own excitement. And fear, perhaps. Even with a quantum forcefield around his body, this was some serious power. I'm going to start the analysis, and move in...
-
Starshot And that was precisely what Starshot did. He was mindful of power usage, when scanning beneath them - but it was power usage well spent, by his estimation. Those sandworms could cut them to shreds. He trod through the desert, his heatsink cybernetic implants down his spine burning off the heat, although he still had a sweat on him, a kind of unavoidable reflex. "How far" he asked. Or more importantly, in his head, was the question "How long?". They must not burn up under the sun, or exhaust themselves. But on the other hand, they should reach the base by nightfall...and take steady appraisal of the situation there. At least the night would bring coolness. For now, it was a matter of putting boots through sand and keeping an eye out below...

Rev "Cherish every moment, huh? Well, I guess I can do that" brightened Rev. This was her nature. "Lets just hope there are plenty of moments to be had" she added, with a mixture of enthusiasm and bleak realism. "And that starts right now. I mean, after all, I'm only on an alien planet! In space. Outer space!" she said, standing up and feeling the awesome awe of the situation. "Do you have space ships? You have to have space ships, right? Fast ones? Like, light speed?" she asked. "I'd love to pilot one of those. That's real speed! Perhaps you can pilot us home? I mean, Lawrence has to go home, right, and we are looking after him as you said. And maybe you might just let me have a go driving one of your space ships?"
