GM "What? By all the blazing hells! Smoke!!!! AAAAgh!" screamed the cameraman in fury. "The artist's worst enemy! So much for improvisation! The cut is useless! All dashed!" he complained, just with Bonfire's earshot. "We'll have to wait for it to clear and try to salvage something with Chill Pill afterwards. I can't believe it!" "What? You filming this?" grunted the Skull who, oddly, seemed nonplussed by the smoke, able to see right through it. "What's going on?" he demanded of Bonfire, advancing once again with fist smashing into palm.

GM Vic wasn't much for looking glassy eyed and obedient Not her nature. But, to her credit, she played the part. And people believe what they want to believe. "Really? Never let it be said that Morgan won't turn down some custom" he said, eagerly. A flick of vexation crossed his face. "But I have a problem" he said, not liking the words that came from his fat lips. "I'm not in a trusting mood, and I'll tell you why. Hector, the old devil, he bought some special meats from me just two weeks ago. Turned his dogs into blazing hellhounds". He slammed his cleaver once more, heavily, into the counter. "Never knew the old dabbler had it in him. But, curse my luck, he did. Got a pack of infernal wolves at my door. Ah! It stings doubly that I was the engine of my own misfortune..." he shook his head. "So I am left paranoid. With good reason, for Hector wants more meats. And if you are selling something special, he will do whatever it takes to get it..."

Rev "Maybe girls should be doing that too!" said Rev, sparking up her feisty engine. She was a tomboy by anybodies measure, although she didn't approve of the term. "Yeah we are good enough to do it!" she continued confidently. "Just point us in the right direction. Where do we go?" she asked. And what exactly do we do when we get there? We aren't vigilantes.... But one step at at time... ...unfortunately....

GM "Calm? Need?" said each of Block Heads faces, full of confusion. "What do those words even mean???" "WHO AM I! WHY AM I! I NEED ANSWERS!!!!" he screamed as the emergency lights flashed a dull red over his purple hued body. The emergency was in full swing, and a couple of security guards thudded into the foundry. "Halt! What is transpiring?" they asked, almost in unison. Mannequin did not recognise either of them. They spoke flatly, and seemed slow of intellect. Or even drugged, perhaps. Whatever they wanted, they were at least not pulling guns...

GM "No! It is frustrating!" shouted Block Head straight back. It was become increasingly obvious that when emotionally aroused, his five faces started talking slightly out of synch. It was an unpleasant cacophony, and could even make it hard to understand what he was saying. "I feel myself crumbling, inside" he said, still angry. "What have you done? I was happy, before, in my world. Now, my mind is jumbled and confused. I have lost harmony. Why did you do this?" He pounded his head again. "What am I? WHAT AM I????"

Starshot Starshot pondered the matter carefully. The tribe were no strangers to stealth and ambush, which was a start. But also, it seemed, it was the finish. Hunting gave valuable skills, but it was designed for animals. They were facing something quite different. And he said so. "Fighting the pirates...the sky demons....will be different to fighting animals. I am sure you are brave, fast, and strong. But this will be different to hunting" he explained. "They will be prepared, and they will no how to fight back" "We must hunt in a different way...." he offered, hopeful that they would be flexible enough to at least try.

Mr Murk "It would depend upon how the contract was sundered" answered Mr Murk "I am not one for vengeance by nature. To love is always wise, to hate is always foolish. But, alas, as you say, we are often fools" he conceded. "There would be three stages to breaking the contract. Firstly, if the transgression is mild or trivial, it would mean but a note, a warning. Providing, of course, that the immortal makes apology". "Secondly, there would be forcible expulsion from the contract, as determined by a council of three. If so expelled, said immortal cannot enter the grounds of club immortus and would receive no help from our system. It would be, as the Catholics would say, excommunication. Further aide or malice towards such an immortal would be the choice of individuals and subject to the laws of the world". "Lastly, for the most serious offences, beyond reprehensible, there would be active action. This would require a universal agreement from all signaturities of the codus. It would be for the most extreme and terrible actions, such that bring the fate of all immortals to great peril. For acts of such cruelty and malice - beyond mere war or violence - that we cannot abide. In such cases, the signaturities will be called to act. Not merely to exclude such a foul soul, but to degrade or even exterminate him". He looked grim. "I hope this never happens of course, but the provision must be there...."

Rev "Oh yeah, I'm just fine" called back Rev. "Just a scratch. And maybe a punctured lung. But mainly a scratch. How are you? Still got both your eyes in their sockets?" she shouted at SFX. "Now then, this ain't over. Not by a long stretch. Did I say long stretch?" Her arms propelled up a few dozen feet into the sky, the gel skin now virtually shredded. Not that she needed to look normal now anyway. "Time for a burning basketball! In the hoooop!" She streamed out a ball of fire into her hands, and lobbed it through the air in a graceful arc, until it mushroomed and bloomed middair in a rather pretty explosion....

GM This time, the skull man backed away. Quick and effective, but somehow chaotic in his movements. "Weakling! Coward! Having to fight with fire and smoke! Impure deception!" he cackled and laughed. "A hero, a warrior. They fight with blood and steel. With the power that comes from within, no granted by some twist of fate...for within comes strength! Strength that is earned!" The Thug roared to the skies, his veins popping out so much one might fear they would burst. He turned around and picked up the control car. That's right, he picked up a patrol car, readers! And more than that, he swung it, intending to smash Bonfire's head in. But alas, Bonfire was but smoke, and then furious thug almost lost his balance with the unchecked swing. "Coward! You are nothing! Nothing! Shame on you!" screamed the enraged man. "This is awesome...ok...get ready.....!" came a voice in the background. The man filming the entire spectacle.
-
GM The thug came close, cracking his knuckles. Bonfire felt something crawl up and down his sixth sense. That bone skull mask had a horrible, almost Eldritch feel to it. A sense of dread dripped off every crack in the bone. "Lets see what ya got then. All show. That's a sign you have no fire to your belly. No sweat. No toil. Nothing that makes a man a man. Everything special about you is just fortune, not will...." snarled the sickly strong voice through the mask. A tongue, about fifteen inches long and forked, swept out of the mouth, serpentine and certainly not human - at least not without some exceptionally radical surgery. The Thug had some skill, sure. A swing left, a swing right, and a dirty kick to the knees. But nothing that Bonfire could not back free from...

GM "The world is expanding. Infinite, it is" agreed Blockhead. He pounded his head, violently, full of transient anger. "I cannot see it all. Not the merest fraction of the tiniest part. I cannot expand to fill it. I cannot hope to understand it. And yet, my perception grows, like a ladder without end" He gripped a steel railing, and bent it, crushing it, rending it. "And from my first step, to build, my next seems only to destroy....!"
-
GM The fire and the fury startled the thugs, a few of whom turned heel and ran. But the leader, and some of the more rabid thugs, did not. "Wait! I know you...Bonfire!" he screamed, full of fire of a different sort. One could not see his eyes, just the black sockets of the snake skull that covered his head. The leader jumped off the police car he was sitting on, with considerable agility. He writhed around, contorting his body with great flexibility and muscles that slid around his skeleton with force and twitch. "I think you need a fight. Man on man. A stinking, bloody fight. Fists and boots. Or are you a coward? Just a coward, hiding in his smoke, trembling in his fire, with no heart or will?" he taunted. "Come on then, loser! Show me what you are made of!"

GM This gang didn't seem part of any local crew Bonfire had seen. Freedom City had seen a lot of new gangs spring up recently, from the Beastly Boys to the Leap Froggers. Even the mysterious cheesegraters, who nobody had actually ever seen, but everybody seemed to talk about in hushed tones. These guys looked like an assortment of street trash who just got caught in the wake of some frenzy. Leathers, knives, clubs, rabid dogs. And at their head, a large, strong man, full of sweat and muscles. He was wearing a mask. One would hope it was a mask, anyway. It looked like a skull mask. The skull of some giant snake. He was gurgling and laughing. "Pull their teeth. I want a necklace of teeth!" he screamed at the top of his voice, referring to the two policemen pinned down by dogs and thugs. One other thug, armed with a pair of pliers, laughing in a most cruel manner, started approaching the teeth that, for now, looked like they belonged to the police.... To one side, Bonfire caught sight of... Someone with the cheek to film this horror! A short thin man with dyed red hair, goatee, and camera, intent on capturing the whole thing.

GM "Unique am I? Unique, I am..." mused Block Head, tapping his head with his fingers and causing a strange drumming sound. "If we had conversed but a few hours ago, I would have thought that productivity was the sum of all existence. Now, I am unsure. Why is that?" he asked all around him, his faces deeply furrowed. "What production? Why? And for all that is produces, something else is destroyed. Like an endless grinding wheel, all we do is rearrange. For what purpose? I feel the urge, but do not understand it. Why? Why do I feel this compulsion? Why do I exist at all?" he asked. He smashed his fists together with crunching power. "I see no point to my existence, now...."

GM Feb 18th, The Fens In the morning... It happened practically outside Bonfire's door. At some ungodly hour in the morning, when everyone should, rightly, be asleep or nursing a hang over after partying to hard the night before. Or at the very least, pounding alertness back in to their head with a strong coffee. On the streets in the Fens, where the paucity of wealth and opportunity oft forced the youth into nefarious and dangerous pastimes. A gang of thugs was engaging in mindless vandalism. Baseball bats and clubs, sticks, and stones. These wonderful devices, and more, were being used to splendid effect in the ignoble pursuit of window smashing and car wrecking. There was the growl and scream of angry dogs, for this gang was armed with what looked to be rabid and viscous dogs. And now, a patrol car arrived. "Halt! Put your hands up!" Then screaming. A shot. Two shots. And more screaming. The two police officers were pinned to the floor by the thugs and the dogs, and looked, verily, to be in danger of imminent loss of limb. Or quite possibly life.

GM "Yes of course, Sir, I would be delighted to escort you. Mr. Horridan is currently entertaining our ah...other guest...or employee...I am not quite sure" replied Tristan. "I am not sure which one of them is the most strange, to be frank" he whispered into the Doctors ear as he brushed past. "Ratchet...oh Gods, am I calling you Ratchet already? I think it's catching. Whatever it is..." sighed Tristan. "I am meant to be escorting you so you, ah, better come along" he groaned. With groan and sigh firmly in his artillery of expressions, Tristan took Doctor Deoxy (and Ratchet) to Mannequin, who was, at that very moment, in conversation with Block Head.

Possible PC for one of many incoming new slots! Echohead Power Level: 8 (150/150) Unspent Power Points: 0 Trade-Offs: +1 Toughness / -1 Defence, +1 Attack / -1 DC In Brief: Mind stealing agent of AEGIS Alternate Identity: Umberto Velluti Birthplace: Rome Residence: Freedom City Base of Operations: Freedom City Occupation: Agent in Training… Affiliations: AEGIS Family: Lucia Velluti (Mother, Retired Hairdresser) Description: Age: 41 Apparent Age: 41 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5’5” Weight: 50Kgs Eyes: Brown Hair: None Umberto is a short, weedy man, quite ball, with a large nose and a weak chin. He could, in truth, be called fairly ugly. He does have a certain sense of style, however, wearing expensive suits and sunglasses (he loves black) History: Umberto was always a pretty bullied kid at school, the first to get beaten up, the last to get picked at a team. He was short, weedy, and bald since birth. This was compounded by being smart and by having a doting overbearing mother (who, ironically was a hairdresser). Umberto grew up always feeling like he was supressing something. He had a knack of understanding people and their motivations which he put down to intuition. He made a reasonable business selling garden appliances in his shop, and was doing fairly well for himself. Until, one day, a retired AEGIS agent came into his shop to purchase something for his retirement home outside Rome. Umberto had a flash of paranoia, and then…bang! He was inside the agent’s head. It turned out that Umberto was a psychic who had repressed his powers all his life. He had always harboured dreams of being a spy, a secret agent, or a superhero, but what with being a 5’5” weed with an overbearing mother, he had no opportunity. He was debriefed by AEGIS, but he had gleaned a lot of secret information. With a touch of slyness, he brokered a deal – he would work for them as a super powered Agent, and they would train him in his powers and skills. Welcome aboard, Echohead! Personality & Motivation: Echohead has always wanted a life of adventure and excitement and this is his primary motivation. However, he also has a lot of sympathy for the underdog, and cannot abide bullies or autocrats. He is a friendly man, by and large, but conceals a lingering sense of low self-esteem. He is particularly fond of food and has a love of plants, flowers, and gardens. He relaxes in his own garden and grows his own vegetables. Powers & Tactics: Echohead can “steal” other peoples thoughts or neurological functioning. He can make people ignore something, paralyse parts of (or all of) their body, or forget skills. As well as “deleting” such abilities (albeit transiently), he can “copy” someone into his head, getting their skills and mental abilities. The copy does linger as an “echo” which can be distracting or even (if a strong personality) dangerous. Echohead will usually try to win conflicts by selectively disabling his targets, perhaps so that a fight is not needed at all. Umberto utilises high tech AEGIS equipment to compensate for his lack of physical skills or abilities. He wears bulletproof clothing, and carries an AEGIS energy pistol if he needs to combat psychic-resistant enemies. Power Descriptions: Echoheads psychic powers are not visible or detectable. His blaster pistol fires yellow-orange energy beams of slightly different flavour according to setting. Complications: Ugly Face: Umberto is not so ugly as to be repulsive, but he is not so far from that position, either. He is not good at making first impressions. Ugly Thoughts: Any “Echo” stored in his head has the lingering will of the original. For the most part this is, at worst, distracting. However, progressively strong willed copies might limit the use of their skills at a critical time, or cause him to freeze or tic or speak inappropriately. Exceptionally strong copies might even – if Umberto was tired or drained – even take possession of him transiently! Ugly Tongue: When nervous, Umberto tends to gabble. He might reveal information, or say the wrong thing, or speak his mind completely inappropriately! Ugly Head: Umberto suffers from terrible migraines, perhaps as a side effect of his medication. Bright light and stress can set them off, and render him virtually helpless. Sunglasses help, and he takes medication to limit them, but of course he can be without sunglasses and medication…and there is plenty of stress around… Ugly Heart: At the end of the day, Umberto is a coward; or, more precisely, he has grown up being bullied and downtrodden and he can easily revert to this mindset. Skilled intimidators or psychologists could have a field day going to town on him. Rev Rev raised her arms but felt the claws smash into her chest. "Ouchy ouch!" she complained, feeling lungs empty of all air and a stab of pain just below her collar bone. She slid through the air and landed on her backside. "oooh...really ouch ouch...." she complained a bit more weakly. Her bones and flesh had a rather chaotic lattice of ultra hard metal under her skin, woven in, haphazardly but effectively. Certainly helped protect the vital organs from being split, or her bones from being crushed. But still, it was ouchy time, and that cat really hit hard. "That's not fair" she complained. "The cat is cheating by being fast and strong...."
