GM Flare ducked under the blow, with a laugh. "Anyone would think you have been blown up today!" she spiked her words carefully. But more spikey still was the knife she thrust into Spitfire, a nasty little twist with all her body weight behind it. "Had enough of my cutting wit?" she demanded. And outside... Snowbird pulled out her gun. It was a fancy chrome number, with a nifty plastic handle. It looked rather high - tech. Not a conventional firearm. Any visual clues to its nature were soon redundant: for when she fired, a stream of icy shards flew out like a machine gun. Just clumsy - for she tottered backwards a few steps, her balance still off, and the sky was lit with yet more frosty beauty as the ice shot off into the stars.

That is a miss I am afraid! (although she has -2 defence from being immobilised) Flare will retaliate with a cutstab! SHe is still immobilised, so -2 penalty. She will shift power attack +2 DC / -2 Attack Cutstab Spitfire: 1d20+12 30 a hit! Which means a DC 19 Toughness Save. Snowbird will, for a move action, pull out her gun, as a standard action, fire! Rev A little surge of hope materialised in Rev. "Ah...yes...I mean sure?" she garbled. "I mean, the jets are great. And I kept being told how lucky I was, and how I should adjust. But honestly? you can get pretty bored of every body staring at you. I don't mind being the centre of attention, but this is too much!" she said, half forcing a little laugh. "It would be nice to walk down a mall without getting stared at. If you know what I mean. Just, be normal for a bit..." she explained, trudging a long feeling uncharacteristically self conscious. "But I guess I got to live with being all steel" she said, crushing her hope in a self reflexive defence. She had got good at that.

GM The Captain listened carefully, and nodded his head. "I lament the loss of any soul" he answered slowly. "But the way I see it, Lord Crane cemented his fate. It was a sick passion the man had, and worse, he had the will and the money to execute it" he nodded. "I'll drink to the man though, may his soul have peace" he said, glumly. "I would ask you to join me, although the fates know you have more reason than most to spit on his grave" he added. Arna raised her glass; not with any great joy, but a sense of duty. Maybe because she respected the Captain, rather than the late Lord Crane. She gave a small sip, and looked at the Black Knight to see his response...

Rev "Hey, brains" laughed Rev. "I don't run any faster than you. Fly, now that's a different matter! Fully jet powered!" she explained. "But I always preferred driving to running. That's how I got the scar, and ended up in hospital. Got these steel arms and steel legs, too" she explained, walking slowly. "It was my own fault. I hung with a street gang. We boosted cars, raced them. Did all kinds of crazy. We had a good time, you know? But living like that, it's going to south sooner or later. And it went south big time" she explained, a trace of bitterness in her mouth. "I spent months in hospital. Thought I was going to die. When I found out how smashed up I was, I wanted to die. But I guess somebody was looking out for me, because whatever I was missing, I grew back. But steel, not bones or skin" She hefted her bags easily. "I'm lucky, I guess. Jet powered cyborg girl. But I'm not going to win any beauty pageants. I would kind of like to look normal again..." she said, both happy and sad.

Synth Staying down was no problem. Synth dropped to the floor. Synthetic flesh was tough, but he would still bleed. And bullets hurt. ["What's going on?"] he asked, not really expecting a reply. For whatever reason, the two men were silent. Need to know, maybe. Or maybe something else. Whatever...he couldn't get any answers from them. But the guns? Surely they weren't going to shoot the prison guards? That was beyond the remit of any rescue operation. ["What are you going to do? You can't shoot the guards!"] he demanded of the two men. Those automatic rifles looked very advanced and very effective. He could only hope they shot non-lethal ammunition. -
GM And so, later, on the Icebreaker... The captain had started the massive steam powered engines and the ship was rolling back through the ice. "Going to be a good few days sailing till we hit Manchester" he said, tired but relieved. "And at least we won't have his Lordship on our backs. I have to ask...what happened to him? I'm not sure I want the answer, but I have to ask..." Arna deferred to Mr Hale Esq, as she looked down at her gin and tonic and salted fish. It wasn't exactly tasty, but it was warm. She was sure she could stomach the food and drink for a few days, and as the Captain said, they wouldn't have Lord Crane to irritate them. The pilots had been transported home, thanks to the power of the Black Knight. Joe Powder had said his farewells. He had even given the Black Knight his whip, a good old Texan one "Just to remember me by. And so you can tan a few English noblemen if they get too up themselves. Hell, this old but of rope stung his Lordship pretty darn good, huh?" he smiled. Joe Powder was a loner, but he was still sad to say good bye to the Black Knight, even if he wouldn't let himself she no damn tear.

Rev "Wow, that sounds pretty awesome" said Rev, exciting building at the prospect of all the facilities. "I should probably hit the gym. Still recovering from my little accident. I don't need to pump iron, though, hehe..." she said, lifting her heavy bags easily with each arm. "But a bit of cardio. I was lying in hospital beds for months. Lucky I didn't get bed sores. "Got this little devil though" she explained, lifting her t shirt up a bit to show a nice central scar up her abdomen from where they extracted her spleen. "Scars are though cool, right?" she asked the group. She thought they were cool anyway. "I'd probably be cheating if I played sports though. Now I think about it, I would be a great basketball player, huh!"
-
GM "Let's do it then. An extended holiday. Although I don't know what we will do for money. Or food! They use Krone here, Danish money. Or British pounds. The British Empire stretched across the world. Still owns most of the American colonies" she explained, having brushed up on the history of this dimension whilst waiting for her boyfriend to awaken. "But i don't know much else about this world. It sounds exciting. Antiquated, perhaps, but it has some extraordinary machines too, from the sound of things. But how will we survive? I can translate, I guess. What would you do? Sail the world maybe? We have a ship willing to take us on...?" She remembered something. "And the pilots? They are recuperating in hospital here. Oh dear! I hope it is of reasonable quality. We need to get them back!"

GM Snowbird took a few steps back, her head clearing. She was just fast enough, just clever enough, to move her body a couple of inches from the swing. She stumbled just slightly, the snow around her blue boots scattering. But she then moved to a more defensive, agile, and ready posture. "Woah! You are quick, angel. Quicker than me. Maybe quicker than my buddy in there. I can see why she was in trouble. Not much gets Flare rattled, I can tell you that. Nerves of ice" she exclaimed. Snowbird was one for babbling, that was for sure. Whatever the two gun runners were up to, it was clear that Flare was the face. Snowbird would likely dribble out all secrets in a flash.

GM "It would be an adventure" agreed Arna, lost in thought. "I am not sure. If I have you, I would not be lonely, at least. A new world to explore together. Well, not new, at least not exactly. Its like looking in one of those mirrors in a circus. Everything strange. It would certainly give a new perspective on life!" she said, finding the thought more appealing. "And yet we would leave so much behind too. Friends, family. I would take the plunge into strange waters, but we would be missed, wouldn't we?" she asked. "What do you want to do? we must both decide, for we would do this together, or not at all..."

Synth [as Grunt] Synth reached up to scratch his stubble, an unconscious gesture. Perhaps the seething memories were bubbling over into his cortex. Stress could do that, and this was, no doubt, a high stress situation. He said no more. This was a time for alertness rather than words. He studied the prison as much as possible; for whatever happened, whatever legitimacy this operation had, he would rather be free than incarcerated. What of the guard? Swedish? English? This was someone highly trained. Or more. And if nothing else, the exit to Blackstone would be where the answers lay, for better or worse. -
GM Flare rolled but not quite quick enough. She caught a leg under the fridge, jammed tight. "Satan's spit!" she cursed at Spitfire. "I'll stuff this fridge down your damn throat!" she said, gritting her teeth. She was not a particularly strong woman, but she strained every muscle tight, and hauled the fridge off her leg for one brief second, for one brief inch. Her leg came out and the fridge dropped with a mighty clang. Scrabbling around the kitchen surface, her greedy hands found an impressively clean and shiny kitchen knife. "Aha! Maybe this will do!" she laughed. "Its cut stab time!"
-
Ok so again a bit hand wavey, but Flare has a STR of 12 and I will say if she uses extra effort she will be able to push the refridgerator off her. For reference that makes Flare fatigued With her move action she will rearm herself with a kitchen knife. Snowbird is dazed this round, so it is back to BoA

GM "The native? Vanished. Never seen someone move so fast without making a sound" answered Joe, scratching his stubble. "Damn hope he never wants to stick that spear in my back. I wouldn't sleep a wink. The way I see it, after speaking to your lady here, he was just checkin' that damned meteor left. Either off his land, or destroyed. I guess we settled the matter for him, and his people" he said with contentment. "You hit yourself!" explained Arna with a smile "sticking your sword in that meteor. Blew us off our feet even at the crater" she said, nursing a bruise on the back of her head. "But it seemed to work. Even i can feel there things seem a little less tense in the air. No half mad wolves, anyway. Even if the sailors aren't taking any chances" She frowned slightly, half looking away. "What about...getting back? Its beautiful here, and its Greenland, my homeland. But its not our universe, is it? Its like a hundred years ago, with everything Jules Verne dreamed of..."

Ronin This was some serious voodoo. Ronin had heard of magic and sorcery, but damned if he had ever seen it. What the hell was this? Ghosts and spirits. Warlocks and witches. Damned if it was gonna go down on Nancy street. He flicked a switch on his gun and heard a little sizzle of chemical magic. Gunpowder could do all sorts of tricks with the right heat and chemicals. Right now, he needed to get this party stopped. He smashed the window, briefly lamenting the destruction of church glass, and pressed the trigger. The shell lobbed through the air landing in the centre of that very party, exploding into a sulphurous smoke one could barely see six inches through. "Take you goddamn sorcery out of Nancy street!" he called in.

Rev Sure there had been letters. And she had skimmed them. She should pay more attention. "Ace" she said, sticking her metal thumb up. For effect, she clicked out a little flame from the top of her thumb. She didn't smoke, but darn, she was sometimes tempted just so she could pull that off. She gave a lopsided smile and flicked her flame off. "So what do we do for the next hour? Have a walk round the gardens? Climb the trees? Have a smoke behind the bike sheds? Rebuild your computer?" she asked, doubtfully considering the shattered remains of the laptop, which looked like a pizza with silicon and plastic topping.

That's entirely suitable, as its a kitchen. Ill leave the precise nature of that to you. I'm going to ask for something a little peculiar for that though, a power vs DEX opposed roll to get it to work. Ill also give her a reflex save to avoid being pinned (as opposed to just held in place by a leg or something). For the opposed roll, Flare gets: opposed roll vs Spitfire: 1d20+4 5 so basically it works. Ill give her a DC 15 Reflex to avoid becoming pinned: Reflex save vs fridge: 1d20+10 24 So you can collapse something on her and it will pin a foot / leg: immobilising her but she can still act.

Rev "Is there orientation?" asked Rev, politely. "I mean, I'm like totally disorientated" she confessed, a trace of the shy coming over her. It was all so overwhelming. So far out of her comfort zone. Any school would be, and this school was pretty extraordinary. "I'm nervous as hell" She was surprised she even said it. It wasn't cool, really. But time had come to be honest. "I dropped out my last school. Its...been a while since I took class. And this place is just as strange as you can get" she said, with a shrug that was almost a shudder. "I guess I lost my confidence"

20 Questions: Claremont Entry Survey [Written] Of Ms Lexa Venn 1. Where are you from? Freedom City, US of A. 2. How would you physically describe yourself? Back in the day, I was your grubby little teenager tomboy. Right now, I’m a biomechanical cyborg with turbo powered jets. And my hair turned white. But, you know, it seems to hold in really cool styles with no frizz. So every cloud has a silver lining. 3. Do you have any special physical needs? I have no spleen. I mean, it was removed. So yes, I need to take regular antibiotics to prevent infection. I also need regular oiling. 4. What ambitions do you have? I want a second chance. I know that’s a lot to ask. But I dropped out of school too early. I wish I had stayed. 5. What do you think is your greatest strength? Literally, my strength. Possibly my speed, but mainly my strength. Have you seen what I can bench press? 6. What do you think is your greatest weakness? I’ll be honest, I have a tendency to be impulsive, rush into things. Look before you leap. A big tendency. 7. How would you describe your mental and emotional state? I’m ok. Sort of. I’m still shook up about my accident, and it’s not easy to adjust. I miss my real arms, my real legs. But my new ones are pretty awesome. 8. What is your greatest fear? I still have nightmares about my limbs falling off. 9. Do you consider yourself to have any areas of academic weakness? I never really liked history. Boooorrriiiing! 10. Do you consider yourself to have any academic strengths? I’m ok at science. And I really know how to pull apart an engine and put it back together again. 11. Do you have any religious or cultural needs? Not really. Mom had my christened, but I never went to church. 12. Do you have any extra-curricular activities or hobbies? Driving. But I have no licence…so I won’t be doing that! 13. Who do we contact in case of emergency? My mom, Daisy Jenkins. 14. Do you have any other family? No. My dad is dead. 15. Are your family aware of your particular gifts, and to what extent? Yes. My mom was with me all the time they were examining me in hospital. 16. What three subjects are you most interested in taking? Engineering, Science, Media 17. Do you have any criminal record? I have been arrested for dangerous driving (without a licence) and car theft. 18. Are there any potential risks from your special abilities? I could be a fire hazard if I don’t cool my jets? 19. How do you feel about the relationship between metahumans and society? I don’t see metahumans as different from humans. They are still people, after all. I guess society gets worried though, like with anything that could be dangerous. Fear can lead to hate. 20. Where would you like to be in five years time? A superhero!

Synth "[New here?]" said Synth, his suspicions aroused. He did not whisper, but he spoke softly, slowly. There was no need to jump people up with spluttered, electric words that could light a fuse to an already tense situation. But if the guards were new, this was worrisome. Or they weren't guards. Perhaps AEGIS, or something else. After all, AEGIS had put her in here, and it would not be unreasonable for AEGIS to pull her out. Where they investigating SHADOW? had they a tip off? Whatever the case, the stakes were rising. He half regretted her words, but they were out now and there was no rewind button. Let the dice fall where they may... She gave a terse look at the guards - all of them - waiting for the responses....
