  1. Synth (as Marie Shane) The contracting of stature always made Synth feel a bit ungainly. She flexed her muscles and sinews, feeling the new angles and shapes. This one felt awkward. Still, it would serve purpose. Some ID, a heart-biting family photograph - curse the road she was on - some keys, but who knew what for. And interestingly, an AEGIS investigation. This would be useful evidence for AEGIS, who seemed like they were not quite in oppositio to Synth, but neither were they in parallel either. A tightrope was being walked. One breath, deep. Calming her autonomic nervous system. And then out she strode. Right now, time really did count. The real Marie might be asleep for an hour or more, but someone might find her. Or miss her. Nobody was likely to kick the door of the rest room down, but it was not certain. Straight away, noting the architecture Sarah had pointed out, Synth made her way to the research part of the building...
  2. GM Jane sniffed the air. "What...? I smell corruption and bile and...wait..." she sniffed again, nose wrinkled, eyebrow raised. "Smoke? Somethings burning?" she said, aloud. The music blared out to drown out her words. I...want to set the world on Fi...ire! sang Amber, missing the "don't" rather pointedly. "We gotta get out of here!" said Jane to John, starting to panic. "This place is a death trap! Blowfish paid off all the Health and Safety people...any second now there will be a stampede!" she blurted, looking for the exit. There was a fire exit. It looked a dubious proposition, creaky and dusty and possibly even jammed shut. "Wait...Amber!" she said, smacking her head. "Hey boyfriend was a fireman. Blowfish didn't like Amber or Vanity having boyfriends. Particularly boyfriends that wanted to run away with his prized possessions. He has in his thugs did a number on him...set him on fire, burned him alive!"
  3. GM Blowfish and Jane sat watching Amber perform. Her song seemed bitter, and she seemed to linger on the word fire. Fire....Fire....Set the world on FIRE....came the sour song. Blowfish was perplexed and, whilst appreciative of a fine performance, had that frown and tic...he sensed something was up. Jane seemed to distracted to pick up on the subliminal message. But John Smith felt something. And, more pertinently, smelt something. Wine and smoke and sweat, as always. Damn the laws, everyone in the Bad Beat smoked, or seemed to. Nicotine was in the air, in the water, and stained on every piece of furniture. But, right now, John could catch the whiff of a different type of smoke. The smoke of fire.
  4. Good stuff I shall post IC accordingly
  5. I presume the woman is a PL0 ish minion so no actual need to roll attacks etc: But using extra effort (and thus fatigued status) to stunt something like (Stun 10, Extras: Sleep)
  6. Synth Synth slammed a hand over the womans mouth, and pushed her, with some lamented force, into the stall. She hated herself for doing this, but on the other hand, she needed the break. "Don't be scared" she whispered. "I'm not going to hurt you..." She just drove rigid fingers into the left side of the neck, innovating the vagus nerve. She could almost feel the woman's blood pressure drop, and she fell to the seat of the toilet out cold. Synth closed the door. The woman would not be out long, not without some help. She placed her hands on the woman's temples, and concentrated, letting her synthetic cells ooze out of the pores of her skin. The cells would inhibit neurotransmission, dull her senses, impair her reticular activating system. In other words, send the woman into a deep, pleasant sleep. Creating so many infective cells, of such a toxic (from a neurological point of view) nature made her feel drowsy herself, her energy sapped. Still, she determined to stand up straight, and swap clothes with the woman. Now was not the time for shame. Then, the shift in body and face. Not too big a shift, not too fast, and those soporific neuroinhibitors actually dulled her pain. It was a tolerable half minute before she had changed. As she swapped clothes, she patted her new body down - any ID? Keys? Documents?
  7. Red Rat Alert! Subject expressing subversive ideas! Paranoid distrust of Superior Soviet Technology! "I understand" replied the Rat, putting the ear-piece in her ear. It was a double edged sword, or course. It mean back up, of a sort. It also meant that the Doctor and his Atomic Bear knew where she was. Which might be less than ideal if they were less than ideal too. "Trust. The beginning of a beautiful friendship" she agreed. Right now, if he was flesh and blood, she might turn on the Superior Soviet Seductive Spy modus operandi. She imagined this would be a dead end with a brain in a jar. "I like 83%. Not bad. Of course, I would like 84% better. And 100% even more so" she said. "Still, I need to start somewhere. If there is a computer trial, I imagine the thing in my head can track it..." Of course! Superior Soviet Technology is far Superior to decadent Inferior Capitalistic Imitations... "But if you have anything to go on...?"
  8. Red Rat Noemi took the earpiece and fondled it around her palm for the moment. "Yes. It certainly does its job keeping me away from decadent Capitalistic Propoganda" she said, sour at the reality. "Do I need this? The thing in my head is useful, sometimes. Including short wave encrypted radio transmission and reception. Of course, blah blah blah Superior Soviet Science blah blah blah it my edit something it deems unsuitable or against glorious revolution" she explained. "On the other hand, this ear piece would be clean. But somebody can spot an earpiece" she said, reflexive paranoia coming to the fore again. She took the address for Trostky, thinking about how the bear could break every bone in her hand. "Getting to the address looks easy enough, I could probably walk it. And its a lovely night for a walk" she said, looking at the black night sky. "But something tells me you meant something else. Care to give me the mission intelligence?"
  9. Red Rat "I can see your marvellous inventions, whilst truly marvellous..." Witness the Marvels of Superior Soviet Science! piped in SLAVE via her eyes' HUD. "...are not built for the subtleties of spycraft" she commented. Although she imagined an atomic powered bear could do an awesome job of ripping someones head off and frying there in insides with gamma-radiation vision. "I'll be happy to help. I don't want Superior Soviet Technology running loose. Especially in Bedlam!" she said, actually keen to crush this potential horror. She picked up her snub-nosed Superior Soviet Technology pistols, loaded with Superior Soviet Technology Ammunition, as SLAVE dutifully informed her. "Do you have a radio comm system in the jar? Ill stay in contact if you do"
  10. Synth Synth had contemplated using Sarah as a decoy. But there were other options, she realised. Firstly, Sarah would still be around. Secondly, she felt something for her. Part of her wanted that six o clock meet, although she dreaded what Sarah would make of her true form. So instead, she loitered in the rest room, waiting for someone suitably high up to come in. Someone whom she could copy. And perhaps even steal an ID badge from...
  11. GM Roberto thumped his heavy green fists into the swamp mud in frustration. He moaned and groaned. "Curse this life, I wish it would end, so bleak its nature. But I have a duty, and in that duty, at least a meaning...." Rosa was openly weeping, and embraced the thing that had been her brother. "You make me proud. Sad, but proud. I love you..." Roberto did not answer, but turned, and with a shudder, threw himself into the fetid waters, swimming away. "Its...our word against theres, isn't it?" shuddered Rosa. "I have a feeling Billy Bob and Duke have a long history with the law. Let us hope Vesper does too...and I hope our Captain will back us up..." she mumbled, trying to process it all whilst wiping away tears. "But are you sure bringing them in will mean locking them away?" she asked.
  12. Synth There is no good way to reach me....only bad ways...As Synth surfaced, the implanted memories faded, and she found herself regretting her actions. Human connection was a source of vitality, and experience she needed. But this strayed into manipulation, and worse still, she would potentially put Sarah at risk. "After your shift, same bench?" she suggested. A phone number would not do. And now the clock zoomed in to the more acute problems. Every minute might not count, but every hour probably did. And AEGIS were investigating. What an awful mess! Was there anything more to Williams and Knight? Surely...but she needed access to the science data. And personel files, and...well, surely a lot more. "I'll catch you later. But right now, you need to work and I need to freshen up and see HR" she smiled, walking to the female toilets.
  13. Synth If not for the memories of Lexa, bubbling into her psyche, Synth might have backed down - but she had little choice right now. She had to submit her self to those imprinted patterns. It was not, of course, a complete submission, but more a case of floating underwater, senses dull, a kind of dissociate fugue, aware but not aware. There was a fear of dissolving, but it was distant and strange. "What excitement are you looking for?" she answered, hand on hip, eyes meeting gaze. "Aren't you on shift today?" She eased off the throttle an inch. "Or you could tell me about those incidents! I do like an exciting workplace! Sequencing variant copy RNA can get a little dull, even for me..."

  16. GM There was a faintest sensation of presence. A sense, a message, to Kimo. This is why you came. This is why we sent you... Kimo became a conduit to the will of the Gods. And yet something struggled against it. Ancient Gods, more terrible, more sick, more serpentine. Cold and callous, they had faded from the world but here, they lingered. Roberto was like stone, unmoving as if frozen in space and time. Rosa was paralysed with the tension, only falling tears differentiating her from her younger brother. Then, a spasm, and the sickly sweet smell stewed in the air. And faded. "I can feel it...gone...for now!" siad Roberto, falling to his hands and knees. "But then...what of me...I am tied to this place by forces I neither understand nor embrace, but they press on me nonethless...and whilst the orchid has gone...I remain, no longer of bone and sinew, no longer human. I am not Roberto, but an echo" he said to weeping Rosa. "What am I to do?"
  17. GM the Swamp thing shuddered, its vines wilting and stilling. "I feel....hurts...." it muttered. Its voice was ponderous, thoughtful, and hurt - and spoke through the strange vines and algae that comprised the creatures vocal cords - or what passed for them, anyway. "Roberto!" cried Rosa, crying. She dropped to her knees and clasped her hand to the crucifix around her neck. "Rosa...I am sorry...so sorry....I tried...to live...despite dying....And look where it got me..." he said dejectedly. "But you are alive!" she whispered through tears. "Alive, yes...how I wish I was not! In this decaying body, worse than I was before...the flower is growing inside me...and will kill me anyway...with some poor fool to pluck it and repeat the cycle...or some sorcerer to garner it from dead hands to use for even worse purposes...." he groaned. "Please...the cycle must end...I must die, and be burned....for the sake of others..." Rosa cried and pleaded with him. "No! We can cure this...this...whatever this is!" Roberto turned to Kimo, blind but aware. "You....you can do this? My sister cannot....and we have a pyre already..." he said, indicating the blazing Lemurian shrine.
  18. Lets go for that then: As this is a narrative thing and using an HP, feel free to narrate that IC as you feel appropriate. We could say its permanent, will decay, or leave that question open - up to you.
  19. Its a reasonable stunt and one I would allow mechanically. At this stage, I feel its your choice about what you would like, narratively. Kimo is certainly using every effort to clean things and his conscious on that part can be clear. Broadly you might feel it is more interesting just to say "Nope". Or "Yep". Or somewhere inbetween, such as, yes it works for a bit but fades later (ah! the tragedy!), or it heals part of his minds, or just restores his personality in the deformed blind body. Let me know what you would find most dramatic / interesting / appealing and we can go from there.
  20. Starshot "Easy, soldier" said Starshot to Gear in response to the boot. It was deserved, assuredly so. But Cain was helpless and Starshot remembered the horrors of WW2 on Terra. When blood was up, justice quickly became injustice. Humanity quickly became inhumane. He felt a shudder down his cybernetic spine. He gave a gently warning arm in front of Gear. "Don't think I wouldn't kick him myself. But that way, madness lies". He thought about Cain's words. "In any case, he is a liar. Anything he tells us will be of uncertain use. Possibly even dangerous. Can you get anything from his electronic records? Maybe his communications? Find out where this line of blood goes?"
  21. GM Kimo could feel the slippery and wet mind of the Swamp thing. Somehow, he could sense the mark of a tortured soul. It was not even a human mind, at least, any more. A thing of rot and algae. Slowly, the creature surfaced from the shallow water, still dark green and writhing. It was silent now, with no moaning, a slave to the power of Hina. Rosa tore off the last of the vines, which had all but ceased their slithering. "Thankyou! Oh thankyou!" she breathed at Kimo. "I am sure we can do something. Treat him, reverse the effects of the flower. Exorcism, even....something has to work!"
  22. Ok so Swamp Beast is mind controlled, concentration duration. Next save in 1 min.
  23. Ok I have checked and I am fairly sure KK is on 2 HP (you had spent one with a diplomacy check to get Duke to spot the witch was alive but I Gmd that away). With using extra effort to percieve / mind control through the water, that makes: Kimo 1 HP Could you throw me an opposed mind control roll? FOr reference you are up against: Will save vs Mind Control: 1d20+6 8 so basically, roll above 1....
  24. Red Rat Sure...concrete....a bit like your personality, huh? If not concrete then at least somewhat pedantic. Perhaps such a mindset was compulsory for a super-genius level inventor. Destroying a mind control helmet. Well, that sounded wise. Especially superior soviet technology mind control helmet. She relaxed. A bit. Spies don't ever completely relax. In case they get relaxed, permanently. "Consider it destroyed, then" she said, firmly. She sat down, crossed her legs, and supper her coffee. Not too near Trotsky. "Give me the last pieces of the puzzle, then. Who stole and built the helmet of brain bending, and how do we find him. Or her?"
  25. Are you going for the HP / Extra effort? Not sure from your IC post...
