  1. Synth (As Jeb) Best to keep Gus on the defensive, judged Synth. "What happened to you?" he said, loudly, boldly strolling into Gus' bedroom in the guise of Jeb. "If it is you?" he demanded, turning a bit apprehensive. "I saw...well. I think I saw something very strange. That woman turning into you" he continued, looking around now frightened. "It it you? I mean, the real you?" he asked again. "What's happening this Saturday? huh? Only the real Gus would know that...." As he spoke and paced, he made sure he got an eye on what Gus was reading.
  2. Ok so I think this is going to wrap up this round and i dont want to extend to long but lets play it out more for narrative purposes one more round. Round 3 20: Paradigm, HP 4, Unharmed 20: Barrier, HP 1, Unharmed 17: Robot, Unharmed 1: The Deep Wave and crew For reference, Thev, the bot is still on your forehead, Technically its power is Stun 10, continuous duration, with the limitation that a move action by anybody can tear it off your head and hence end the power. It also has a toughness of +2, just above glass, and is a minion, so Paradigm can crush it in her hands, teeth, or betwixt' fingers if she wishes!
  3. GM The Deep wave had an interesting environment, and the force of Barrier created rebounding oscillating and splintering ripples through the interior of the ship. The pilot bravely fired at Barrier but was off balance, in a spin. "Get us away! away! away!" shrieked Munn. He stabbed at his controls and the insect bot outside sped off. It was fast like a spinning dart, whipping through the hanger with frightening accuracy to land on Paradigms forehead in a blink of an eye. In mere microseconds, the web on its head folded onto her forehead and she felt a buzzing electric signal. In any normal brain, this jolt would be enough to send the recipient to sleep. But this was the skin, skull, and brain of Paradigm, made of sterner stuff...
  4. Unfortunate roll but also not necessary. The insect bot attacks Paradigm!
  5. So I gave the Deep Wave an initiative of 1 as it was a big vessel taking off. I am inclined to take it as the crew also have an initiative of 1 just to keep things straightforward (technically I suppose they would delay actions) So the Pilot will bravely fire at Barrier: Fires at Barrier: 1d20+6 8 missing comprehensively. Munn will directe the needlebot to fly into Paradigms face! Flies into Paradigm: 1d20+16 31 The Bot attaches to her and delivers a electric brainwave buzz that amounts to a Stun 10 (Fort DC 20) Attack.
  6. GM Inside the Deep Wave The Light Gravity of Nocturne probably did not help. The ship had no atmosphere, it was all water inside, with sheets and rods of nano-magnetically formed mercury. There was a slightly nauseating vibration within the ship. Inside, a Pilot was furoiusly working the controls, a fish man of the same Species as Munn himself. Bleeping lights on a holographic display seemed to indicate that the Deep Wave was not up to pushing past Paradigm. At least without cheating and flowing its structure. Munn himself was inside, working a console of his own that seemed to show a video footage of the Hangar. At a guess, it was the insect-eye view of the tiny metal robot he had released outside. Floating in the centre of the fluid bridge was Lexa, her black gown streaming all over the place (and in ways that with the wrong angle might be unacceptably revealing). She was hand an oxygen mask strapped to her mouth and was quite peacefully and deeply asleep. "You!" blurbed Munn as he spied Barrier entering the Deep Wave. "I'll protect you from these scum, sir!" volunteered the exceedingly brave pilot, who pulled out a sidearm that looked a bit like a purple crab...
  7. In this case, I actually think we should split your actions this round into two post as there is fairly critical information. Could you post IC your move into the ship, and I will follow with the ship interior as GM post, then you can post IC your standard action? COuld I ask you to make a Swim Roll DC 15 to orientate yourself in the ship as you go in? Ill say until you can make that you are at -2 to checks / rolls as the ship is a wibbly wobbly thing.
  8. Thats good. Unless you do wish to swim into the ship, you can force it back to the ground and post that IC. Then, Barrier is up.
  9. Synth (as Jeb) Synth squeezed himself into the room, feeling like the toothpaste in a toothpaste tube. He was a quiet as a mouse right now. It took a moment to shift his muscles back into shape, and then he took in the room. The Clothes were there. Well, he would be happy to take those back, but later. As softly as he could, he went to the laptop, without touching it. Trying to see what was on the screen and if any clues could be gleaned. Then, the closet. He could not take the risk of squeaky hinges, so just a look inside, to see if there was anything to be spied. And all the time he kept her nose peeled; maybe some of the scents he had picked up would resurface? maybe the blood even? If nothing else, then he would simply open the front door and pretend to stroll in as Jeb. Lets see what Gus would make of that...
  10. Deep wave has +27. Resists Paradigm: 1d20+27 40 So Paradigm stops the Deep Wave. But again it will try to flow. It actually has the Insubstantial 1 power, but with some limitations. In any case, I think as before we can just call this a DC 11 DEX Check if you can make that? If you make this roll, you can find something to grab onto and push it down. If you don't make this roll, you have two options - either you just lose grip and the Deep Wave flows slowly past you (although not making much headway in reality), or you can take advantage of this and actually enter the Deep Wave itself as it has become all fluidic. For that matter, you can elect to forgo the DEX check any just swim into the ship if you wish. She can breathe underwater so to speak (not sure if she actually breathes, but you get the meaning) so that won't be an issue!
  11. Round 3 20: Paradigm, HP 4, Unharmed 20: Barrier, HP 1, Unharmed 17: Robot, Unharmed 1: The Deep Wave To keep things simple, whilst the Hangar is large we can assume Paradigm enters this round and is sufficiently fast to reach the Deep Wave with a move action (at Flight 7). Noticing the tiny steel insect is however a very difficult task: DC 25 whilst flying in. There would be a large range penalty normally but with extended vision I think we can wave that.
  12. GM The robot scrabbled to the floor, all eight limbs whirling. Then, it charged, ramming itself into Barrier in an attempt to push him aside. "This is for your own protection!" it flatly said. However, it had no counted on Barrier being, well, a Barrier. The Robot bounced off Barrier's body who appeared not to have moved a millimetre. There was no answer from The Deep Wave. However, Barrier did notice a tiny hole open up on its side, and something tiny fly out. It was about the size of a mosquito, metal, virtually silent. A technological insect with a small suction cup on its head that opened up like a rose. It was so small it was hard to notice. Without a sound, almost invisible, it turned slowly to face Barrier's head... And then the Deep Wave moved. It moved slowly, rippling through the hanger, and this time, it flowed. The mercurial metal surface became liquid, and simply flowed through Barriers hand. There was presumably something to hold on to deeper, but every time Barrier's grasping hands reached in and found something solid, there was another ripple and it flowed away. The liquid ship appeared to move slowly now, having difficulty coordinating speed and form. But it was rising, gently like the wave it was named after, and floating like a cloud out of the Hangar...
  13. Ok so stuff happens IC. And on, its initiave action, the Robot will attempt to charge and rush, pushing Barrier out of the way. So Charge means a +2 Attack, a total of +10 for a result of Charge Rush Barrier: 1d20+10 20 which hits. Its opposed STR and Super STR time, With the Robot having +8, and an additional +3 from Speed Power. Opposed Rush Roll: 1d20+11 21 I believe Barrier however has an impressive +24 (+10 STR, +2 Super STR, +8 Immovable, +4 Size). Yes, the immovable power is rarely used but cheap and effective. This means that there is no way that the Robot can barge over Barrier. (And one day that Shield should have Immovable effects others area selective surely? ) On Initiative 1, stuff happens and Barrier must make a notice roll please. DC 20. In addition, could Barrier make a DEX roll DC 11
  14. I think opposing the take off is best considered an opposed roll of Ship STR bonus plus Flight bonus VS Barrier STR bonus plus Super STR bonus plus Flight Bonus. In this case the Deep Wave has a +27 bonus. However - the way I picture it your precreated wall (Create Object) also counts, so if you fail the opposed roll directly, but by less than 12 (your Create Object Rank), the combination of you and the wall will stop the Deep Wave, although in this case I might call for a toughness save frome the wall as it might get chipped and cracked from the impact. Does that sound ok / Have I got that picture reasonable? As for teleporting next to Lexa; its a good question and I leave that to your head canon! As far as I can see as its an accurate teleport Barrier only needs to know roughly where Lexa is and I think that's pretty obvious. As to whether Lexa is an ally - I can only say I think that is something for you to decide based on your concept! Lexa is certainly friendly at least, and she did personally invite Barrier. I suppose if you feel its one of those "on the fence" type things we could call for an HP to do it, or gain an HP by trying and failing.
  15. Resists Barrier Break Free: 1d20+17 22 so there you go!
  16. The Red Rat. "Ain't that the truth" replied Noemi, pocketing the money. Most of the already small fare would go to Easy Steve. She slapped the meter to see if she could wangle a little more to herself by changing the recorded fare. It never worked. She always tried. This was interesting enough to look into. And probably important too. She picked up the cab radio and spoke to Charley. "Just dropped the client off, Charley. Got a bzzzt....hssss...with a big....bzzzzt...shhhtttth....pipe blockage with shzzzmmm bzzzttt...an ostrich and two golf balls....bbzzzzzt shhhhhzzbzt....you are breaking up...got...bzzshhhhh....with a balloon....bzzzt shhht crck!" she finished, mimicking a defunct radio. Superior Soviet Radiocommunication Technology can induce radio failure came the printed images on her cybernetic eyes that only she could see. SLAVE was always keen to show off. And she was always keen to ignore the vexatious AI in her skull. "You got it hun!" whooped Charley back at her, crystal clear. "Sure thing. Radio failure. You got it". Even over the radio waves, Noemi could picture Charley popping her bubblegum and giving a massive knowing wink. Her glasses, off. Her hair, pulled down. Her knuckles, cracked. Out of the boot, her Jacket and a pair of snub nosed pistols which were, in fact, very superior Soviet Technology. She gave them a spin, and tucked them into her thigh holsters. And the Red Rat was off, following in the wake of John Smith, aka the Tattered Man.
  17. GM The Deep wave thummed a very low frequency reply through rippling mercury. "Out of the Presidents way!" And the chrome robot replied too. "This is for your own protection!" it proclaimed, before leaping. Even with low gravity, it sprung high and fast. Like a web of limbs, it flowered open, and wrapped itself around Barrier. The thin limbs were still strong, its silent power impressive. Not as strong as Barrier, it was true, but with eight spindly limbs tangled up over Barriers body the net effect was impressive. "This is mechanoid 17" it crackled both audibly and presumably via some internal radio communication. "Please cancel President Munn's take off immediately. A guest is in the vicinity..." it said, with normal bland commentary. "We are taking off anyway!" rippled the Deep Wave, its vibrating mercury shell increasing in hertz.
  18. Grappled it is then! Round 2: 20: Barrier, HP 4, Unharmed, Grappled 17: Robot, Unharmed 1: The Deep Wave Barrier is up.
  19. The Red Rat Damn her sleep. Every night some crazy dream about something crazy. Normally involving Mummies or Sphinxes or in one case a half-cat half-crocodile monstrosity singing ominous heavy metal tunes. She wanted to check Bedlam's water supply wasn't poisoned with some strange hypnotic hallucinogen. She had caught some chatter on the radio about the Museum. Charley, the loud mouthed radio operator at EZ Cabs, knew all the gossip. And insisted on telling everybody everything. Especially the secret things. However, she was the one person that knew who Noemi von Neuman really was. And on this matter she was as silent as a tombstone. And now this gent wanted a drive to the Museum. "On the way mister!" she said, kicking the beaten up cab into gear. The gears crunched badly. Easy Steve did not consider maintaining his vehicles a priority. However, she got them there. Pretty quickly, thanks to the spartan traffic at this time of night. As she pulled up, she adjusted her mirror. "What's going on in there? Heard something was up. Bet it's some creepy Egyptian ghost or something, huh?" she insinuated. She studied the mans face. He looked atypical. She would remember him if she had seen him before.
  20. That works fine as an object, although I feel an opposed power roll coming on. For now thought, the Robot will jump and try to restrain Barrier with a grapple. Grapples Barrier: 1d20+8 16 Robot hits so its opposed grapple roll: Opposed grapple roll: 1d20+17 37 Well that is remarkable.
  21. No response, and - hmmm - well I dont know! Something like five trucks jumbled together?
  22. GM The Hangar... "Your presence is not permitted. Please leave immediately or remedial action will be taken!" demanded the robot, finally letting some emotion (of an artificial sort) into its now firm voice. It crouched down into a spring loaded position. The Tinker may have given his robotic minions but he was an outstanding engineer. The robot was quick, precise, and supremely agile. More impressively, its arms and legs split into two. Four arms, four legs, spindle thick but quick and whip-like. The eight legged posture was a taught elastic spring, ready to leap....
  23. Initiative: 1d20+11 17 Ok, so Paradigm will arrive on Round 3 (Feel free to post IC to resume search Thevshi, or if you want I can add in Sphere updating you). Might be worth making an initiative roll for Paradigm for that Round. This is not a straighforward combat, stuff will happen. On that note, can Barrier make an untrained DC15 know (Tech) roll to estimate when the Deep Wave will take off DC 15 Round 1: 20 - Barrier 17 - Robot
  24. Synth (as Jeb) The bar had been a predictable vaccuum. But a modest (albeit illegal) use of technically stolen money had eased the frustration. Gus' appartment was, Synth felt, uninspiring. Perhaps like Gus himself. He was a bit of a mystery however,. She got the feel of a man of limited but not absent talents, struggling with his relative mediocrity, and perhaps seduced into the prospect of transcending those limits. In many ways that drive was a fundamental quality of human society, perhaps the quality that had - at its roots - created the sum of human creation. But there were several roads to transcending one's limits. Genetic engineering was a valid one, but quite possibly an unwise one at the same time. He was about to knock, but then thought twice. Best to be forearmed. What was going on? It took a bit of scouting, it took a bit of exploration - but then, time was it seemed no longer of significant import. But every block had air vents, and, small though they might be, when her muscles and sinews turned to the consistency of jelly, it was easy to squeeze through them, shuffle along, and peer into Gus' apartment.
  25. A few images I use for inspiration: Red Spear Devil Dog Also, despite the fluffed roll, a hero point to Paradigm for a brave oratory, and a very nice piece of prose by Thevshi (which I really enjoyed, so one of those rare but important rewards for just being great!) Paradigm - 4 HP.
