  1. GM "Then Speak, and I will... devour...." Was it words, was it souls, or was it flesh? Or mayhap all three....? Alas, we may never know, because... Meanwhile... In the "Creepy Corpse Appartment"... The light was low, with a darkness in the sky, a flickering light. Even here, in Freedom City there was a wet horror to the air, a languid feeling of universal insignificance that put nerves on edge, especially amongst the sensitive souls. History would note that on this day, many fine and disturbing works of art and music would be produced. The Seprantine man was pondering several books. To call them books might be a stretch. They were old, falling apart, and in several instruments scraps of paper that he had arranged to try and make sense of them. In an alien tongue he spoke. one that Shrike could not fathom. It had an uncomfortable flavour to it, full of strange words that just sounded awful. Perhaps not understanding them was a blessing. "<Ack-ghngh-aiee Yog-Sothoth mgtkiakghn....Tukglyanki Dagon eyaha Hydra....>" To his side, the mysterious and black urn, smoking some horrible ethereal darkness. Ever was at least half of the serpentine mans eye on it...

  4. Im fine with however many you want, but I would suggest that most people here draw the line at four. Anyway, to note we cannot edit our own sheets (that goes for the moderators too). Any alterations have to be put in character edit requests (and generally, the ettiquette is to wait to spend at least a few Power points before putting in minor edits like that). For reference: STR: 60 Light Load: 16 tons, Medium Load: 32 tons, Heavy Load: 50 tons, Max Load: 100 tons, Push/Drag: 250 tons
  5. Well, that saved a lot of climbing. A rope, now a rope she could manage! "I'll manage!" she whispered back, grabbing the rope carefully and hoping Cik would summon some giant pair of scissors or something. She did not know exactly what the thief could do, after all, other than make cargo disappear. She was not a strong woman, but neither was she a weak one. And her calloused hands could still hall her tall spindly frame up a rope, and into... Into, well hopefully some clues! "Wait for me!" she hissed as she ascended.
  6. From the distance, cybernetic eyes peeled and zoomed in, the Red Rat lurked in the shadows, leaning against a tree, arms folded. Stake outs were never much fun. She was listening to WKYO "Whacko Radio" Rock in her head, picking up the radiowaves and drumming her fingers to the beat. She had managed to persuade SLAVE to receive "Decadent Capitalistic Propoganga-Culture" in the aide of research into said Propoganda-Culture and how it might be exploited to further support the global liberation of the proleterait. In reality, she just liked it. She suspected In$id3r was a newcomer to the scene. She only knew the hacker culture vaguely, but he didn't seem to fit in. The other bite, from L0vel@ce, was another matter. Seemed to be on the ball, as far as she could tell. No way of knowing, but the lady with the bubble gum. Kind of nonchalant. Could be... The Red Rat was no hacker, herself, having a head computer that did it for her, but she had been doing spycraft for a long time. And these clandestine meetings where her bread and butter...
  7. Well p137 has the relevant rules on mellee (equipment) weapons. I think we can assume a baseball bat is essentially a club (damage 2, mighty). Wooden weapons have a base toughness of 4, but I can certainly see a well made baseball bat with a point or two above that, namely 5. Rules actually seem a little vague on this - the weapon will certainly break, but what damage bonus is another matter. On balance, after a bit of chat on the matter, I think the inclination is to go full strength bonus plus 2 (damage of the weapon), although it could be argued. Toughness vs Baseball Bat: 1d20+10 20 So Deadbolt is Dazed and Bruised (I presume you are going non lethal!) Round 2 34 - Echo - Unharmed - 2 HP 13 - Deadbolt - Dazed, Bruised Dont worry, more complications around the corner! I don't do straight 1 on 1 fights any more!
  8. I think that part we can hand wave. Bluffing a PL X is not really appropriate! If its ok with you, I actually suggest turning the camera on to Gretch and leaving the bluffing part to imagination?
  9. GM "Wha...wha...whose deadbolt?" said Deadbolt, giving a truly awful acting experience. He took a step back, hands flapping, in a picture of mock innocence that screamed GUILTY! Realising the ruse was up, her threw of his goggles to reveal those same grey dead eyes. "There is only one person on my side. And that person is me!" he cackled, revealing a facial tic. "And, to be quite honest, ever since the S-virus got me, I'm not even sure about that. Maybe i'm mad! Whoop de doo!" he laughed. "But if you think I'm mad, you should see the others...hehehe...I've seen men beat their won heads to a pulp to try and stop the voices. Me, I took a bath in C-beams and loaded myself with antipsychotics....which, in all honesty, I should probably restock on..." he paused for a moment, uncertain. "But I'm never going back to my universe! Its quite crazy, you know! dooooomed!" as they say, rolling the last word ominously. "So, I'd say over my dead body. But as you can see, I'm already dead!" And with that, he started to move...
  10. Ok Deadbolt will...well...bolt....but lets throw some initiative rolls now to see what happens. Initiative: 1d20+4 13 for Deadbolt
  11. Ill cautiously throw Doctor Warp in! Ill give one note of impertinent advice however; even the most experienced GMs here (myself included) very rarely run a thread with more than 4 PCs. Good on you for throwing yourself in, but, 8 is an awful lot to manage - its not just the technical aspect (which is manageable albeit hard work), its that with eight PCs (heck, even with five), waiting for everyone to post in order really slows things down to a crippling and potentially lethal (for the thread) pace. As Oscar Wilde said, however, the only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on, its of no use to oneself!
  12. "Well, it be like climbing up a mast, to sort out the sails!" said Flintlock, admiring the second floor window. "I'm sure you won't have any trouble, being as quick on your feet as you are" she said to Cik, Despite her outward confidence, she was not so sure. The drainpipe, maybe.... Well, 'twas surely a better bet than sneaking through a mans bedroom. Aye, she had done that a few times, with lovers and husbands and wives in various parts of the drama. But seemed impolite, somehow, if the fire of romance was not involved. "Well, then, ladies first. I'm no lady..." she said, offering Cik the first climb. And neither are you...she added to herself. "I'm sure a quick fingered lady like yourself can wiggle that window open?"
  13. GM From the changing rooms, an inane whistle, a hoot, and a cackling laugh. "Hehehe...nobody will recognise me now!" came Deadbolts dry voice. Out of the changing room he came, whistling innocently. "Howdy!" he said to Echo, as if they had just met. One had to admire his gall, or perhaps addled brains. True, his "disguise" might have fooled somebody at a distance, if they had bad eyes and weren't looking that hard. He was wearing a cheap hoodie, in an outrageous pink colour, and blue tinted ski goggles. "Knock yourself out. Great stuff they have here, huh?" he smiled at Echo, and, with an exaggerated swagger stride, whistled past her...or at least, tried to... "The melons! The melons!" screamed one of the customers, pinching her ears furiously.
  14. One customer, in a daze, picked up a base ball bat and swung it ineffectively at Echo. Another screamed that the turtles were in her shoes. A third one gibbered with an inane grin. Simon Simmons, the owner of the store, was a greasy lump of lard with just enough muscle to lend a sliver of credence to his claim that he "worked out" as the tight (in all the wrong places) t shirt he had squeezed himself into proclaimed. Behind his counter, he had not been bowled over by Deadbolt's entrance. "Gah...gah...in the changing rooms....I think....he....damn...he was fast!" he mumbled. A trail of knock off sports wear did indeed lead to said changing rooms...
  15. Ok, go post your rush into the sports shop. Feel free to adorn with annoying lift music, customers in fear and confusion, and strewn bad quality t shirts, tennis rackets, and baseball bats etc etc. (or anything that springs to mind!)
  16. THats all good, but Deadbolt is hiding in the Sports Shop, so instead of an attack roll can you throw me a notice one?
  17. Lets be generous; it activated when Deadbolt was nearest, so lets go with her perception still being on Deadbolt and attacking him.
  18. Lord Steam Believe it or not Red Rat Mind over Muscle Flintlock Deadbolt The Handyman Operation Catscratch The Alternative Revenue Doctor Warp Dancing for Dino Masters of the Green GM High Steaks Deadbolt Count Down The Black Heart of Dagon Misc If you are feeling generous, bonus PP for who you gonna call? for Flintlock GM Posts: In order, raise Flintlock to 50 PP (if needed), raise Starshot to 25 PP, Red Rat to 25 PP, Dr Warp to 25 PP, and (doubt this achievable) raise Handyman to 25 PP. Anything spare (doubt it), raise Lord Steam to 25 PP.
  19. Excellent! No secrets from, er, the party! Even if she objected that the party, so to speak, had been almost completely defunct for decades, she knew that the mindless computer in her head could not accept that. And might shut off her eyes in protest. She picked up the radio of the Taxi. "Charley, you there?" "Sure Blondie" squarked Charley Chalks, the radio operator of EZ Cabs. Charley had a big mouth, but they were friends. "Boss is mad, but whats new. I'd slip some whiskey in his coffee, but probs only make him madder..." she explained. "Wants you for a job with..." "Yeah yeah, about that. Tell him I gotta take off this evening. Night off. Family stuff. Or something" she explained, vaguely. Easy Steve, the owner and boss of EZ Cabs, was known for being very far from easy indeed. He had a furious temper on him, smoked, drank, and had pulsating veins on his neck that everyone thought would explode when he went into an livid rage but, and one must be shamefully honest, to everyone's disappointment, never did. She could handle him, as she was a good worker, but on the other hand, he was a total ass. "Oh yeah, that's gonna go down like a lead balloon, Blondie. Ill make sure I shoot myself before I tell him, huh? Saves him the bother. Come to it, shoot yaself, too!" she said. Charley got it as bad as anyone from Easy Steve, but she had a mouth that fought back. She dropped off the car without entering the building. No point facing Steve now. She needed to be focused. Instead, she walked back to her crummy one bedroom flat. It wasn't exactly homely, despite the plants and her best efforts on a crummy salary. But it had a bed and a kitchen and a boxy TV. And it had her guns and costume. Hair down. Glasses off. Jacket on (complete with her insignia on the back). Guns to belt, fully loaded. A few spare clips. Then, by back streets and shadows, seen by a few thugs, drunks, and passers by, all who had heard of the Red Rat and quickly turned around. By evening light through darkened paths, she made her way to the Babylon Riverfront. To get a good view of the bench. In the half light, her eyes served her well - directing and navigating her to the riverfront, and when she was there, zooming in on the Bench...
  20. In case its relevant, Lord Steam will prepare a block action against any assault. He doesn't want blood, or any accusations of striking first! Also, lets use the assessment feat! Assesses the stoopid bodyguard: 1d20+18 36 He opposes that with bluff, but somehow I dont think he has a bluff score of +16 or more...
  21. Big chap. Small brains. Never underestimate an opponent. Still, looks like he relies on size rather than skill. Stronger than me, probably a lot. Strength is dangerous, not to be dismissed. Stance wrong, unprepared, thinks an easy win. Could catch of guard, quick strikes to muscle groups, impair strength. Or employ lock and choke. But on the other hand, he didn't want blood on his tux. "Ah, Sir! Please forgive me. I mistook your opinion as based on experience, or, at the very least, that of a judicious mind. I do apologise. Clearly your cortex is of a different persuasion, hmmm? I dare say you consider volume of your vocal verbals a sufficient replacement for the cut and thrust of enlightened Socratic debate, hmmm? I dare say then, they I have been a fool...." he bowed, but not too low. "Allow me to apologise by buying you a drink!" he said, brightly. "Saki, please!" he asked a waiter. "I'm sure a man of your refinement can appreciate the subtlety of the flavours, hmmm?"
  22. GM Even Sir Card, normally unflappable, raised his eyebrows at an alien in the High Steaks. "Ah, yes, Sir..." he said, quickly recovering. "...If I may call you Sir. The High Steaks is open to all, of course. All who pay, haha, haha" he said moving on and beckoning another of the Fabulous Five hostessed to them. Bubble Pink was also beautiful, also dressed in a tuxedo (although one might wonder if the cloth was died just slightly pink). She was Japanese, and had a bright pink punk hairstyle, straightened up to give her another four or five inches. "Bubble, may I introduce Mister Dol-Druth. He, ahem, I think he will need a dedicated guide today. After all, must be all rather peculiar and whatnot, I suppose...er...I hope you don't mind Mr Dol-Druth. I would just like to make you as comfortable as possible" "Sure thing, August" replied Bubble Pink with a smile. "Be my pleasure. Not everyday we get an alien. And such a refined one too" she said kindly. She was good, but not as good as Card. Clearly an alien was pretty freaky. Her mask wasn't bad, but the astute could see through it. "Say, do you eat, Mister Dol-Druth?" she asked the alien, pulling out a menu. "Our steak is the best, if we do say so ourselves. First class French chef. Oh, and if you drink, I'd be pleased to get you something" she added.
  23. Who you gonna call? Who are the real experts in various skills? When a tricky issue arrives, who do you pick up the phone to consult? Only +15 or more bonus; a real expert, will be counted. Some skills are not included; Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Sense Motive, Concentration. These are the kind of skills it would be hard to quantify in real life as an expert. The reason for this, whilst someone arbitrary, is that one could quite easily find an expert in physics, or singing, but skills like intimidation are not something you could find in a phone book! I appreciate there is something arbitrary about this, but the purpose of “Who you gonna call?” is a reference – for people to find person X if they need skill Y. Variable skills do not count (mainly because they distort the list so much, by being an expert in everything). Enhanced skills do. I am only counting skills with at least one rank in them; whilst some characters with amazing INT or DEX might reach +15 bonus with Jack of All Trades or Eidectic Memory, again, this distorts the list a lot and makes it cumbersome / unwieldy. Similarly, untrained skills like Climb are not counted even if you have awesome strength (for the same reason). Masterwork Tools do not count (in the spirit of not actually making you an “expert”). Ranks potentially gained by Beginners Luck do not count. Morph skill does not count for disguise. Wealth does not give a bonus. This is not a contest! It’s a reference! Apologies to characters with a skill rank just below +15; a line had to be drawn somewhere. We have plenty of PCs who are still very competent (+10 to +14) in many of these skills, enough to be called an expert, but I drew the line at +15 for characters who would be consulted on difficult matters, or, if you are inclined, at +20 or more you would be the world expert on the matter. Normal apologies: This was more work than I thought it would be, and no doubt I missed people, and made mistakes. Just post corrections afterwards and I will edit them in. 24. GM "Do excuse me Sir, I will catch up with you later about that business arrangement, mark my words" said Sir Card, politely, to his Arabian guest. He ushered in another tuxedo wearing woman, a red headed olive skinned beauty who smoothly ingratiated herself with the man. Sir Card walked smoothly up the three heroes, all schmooze and elegant tailoring. "Ah yes, Mr Danger, delighted to meet you. So glad you could come. And your beautiful plus one, I take it..." he asked Ace, leaving an enigmatic question in the air, his gaze shifting from woman to woman on either side. "Although plus two is fine, as well" he smiled, with white teeth. "Why not? It would suit your name, after all!" he said, pleasantly. If Silver Snow, the Scandinavian hostess seemed vexed by her employer, her glacial face did not show it; her faint smile remained faint, and smiling. "I do hope you would join me later in the evening. Bring a touch of dashing adventure to the place! Perhaps a game of poker? I fancy trying my luck tonight!" he beamed. "If you are the gambling sort, and a gentleman - well, haha - I am sure you are a gentleman, please forgive me. And I am sure your lovely friends here are ladies. Well, I do have an exclusive club upstairs. Members only kind of thing. Man like you, well, would be a first class member, I am sure!"
