  1. GM "Hey, I'm feeling sick....blubgh...." mumbled Jack, from the sewage that peppered him and the dizzying speed of Echo. True to his word, he left a trail of stomach bile dribbling from his mouth, on Echo's costume, and trailing behind the terrific twosome as the Streets of Freedom City tore past. Deadbolt had popped up in Midtown (Downtown area) of Freedom City. Just next to the massive, impressive, and busy Millenial Mall. It was glass and steel and shiny. And that was exactly where he was headed! Into the crowds, the shops, the escalators, and the multiple levels. A few bystanders gasped at the blur of Deadbolt. At this speed, he was hard to actually get a look at; but those who did screamed or fainted. A super speeder was extraordinary enough, even for the famed Freedom City, but this was a corpse, a stiff, a zombie!!!
  2. It works for me, and suitably heroic (both kindness and the minute delay!) so - Echo - 2 HP - Unharmed. The location of Freedom CIty is in post, but its a DC 10 (INT) roll to actually orientate yourself!
  3. GM For a brief second, Deadbolt turned to look over his zombie shoulder, and his withered eyes widened. "No! No! You can't be that fast! Nobody is that fast!" he gasped, before his countenance turned to anger. "You'll never catch me! I'm NOT going back! NEVER! you don't know what its like back there! I'll die first!" he yelled at his pursuer. Unhinged he might be, but cunning clearly remained, at some level. He turned a corner again, and up he went, scooting up a ladder, bursting upwards, and throwing a manhole cover into the air, far far upwards. He was not just fast, but strong as well. Deadbolt had moved up, out of the sewers, and into the city itself! "No! No! Leave me down here! The C-beams are in the city!" whimpered Tin Hat, almost in tears, his voice husky with fear and terror. His scrabbling had momentarily stopped, evaporated with the sheer velocity of Echo's movement. But now, the thought of entering daylight and the streets of Freedom City, bustling and furious, was simply too much for him...
  4. GM "Prepared? Hmmm...yes. Prepared. Very prepared..." he smiled, almost cunning. Despite his frail body, he seemed to be excited, even anticipating meeting his brother. As light as a feather, he felt. Even Wesley could have lifted him. It was a short hop to the base of the cave, a drop of perhaps twenty or twenty five feet. Some dimly glowing flares had been dropped down here, enough to give illumination (of a meagre sort), for a few hours. Some rope, a few tools, archeological equipment, by the looks of it. This was no mere hole, it was more a series of tunnels. Writings, symbols, pictures lined the walls of the cave, daubed in crude inks, half faded. Pre-colonial native american, it seemed. It was not possible to understand the meaning; perhaps there was none. Warnings, perhaps. A burial chamber, perhaps. Sacred ground, perhaps. Quite possibly, given the nature of society back then (and so many old cultures), it was all three...
  5. Post away! BAsically turning this into a super speeder chase scene, so bear with me as I may well drop the ball!
  6. NB: This is of course presuming Echo is going at full speed. If she slows down a little, she can automatically dodge the masonry!
  7. Good question. Im inclined to say not (as in tumble over the masonry), but on the other hand a raw DEX roll DC 15 would be enough to actually dodge the masonry, and ill give a +2 bonus due to wall walking power (more options!) how does that sound?
  8. GM "Whoaaah!" came the two voices of Tin Hat and JAck, too shocked, at the moment, to protest. Tin Hat did struggle in Echo's grip, but for all his considerable strength, he was but a man locked into her superhuman arms. Echo followed the blur that was Deadbolt. The spray of sewage would be enough to induce vomiting. Tin Hat was clearly used to the odour, and whilst he did protest, he was wise enough not to open his mouth with all the backsplash wake from Deadbolt. Jack looked perilously close to heaving his guys, which would have added some extra spice to the aroma that was, at the moment, all pervasive. Around a corner, then another, hard to follow in the semi light. Then, in front of her, Deadbolt smashing through some fallen masonry like it was cardboard. Two tumbling halves of masonry rolled around the sewer wildly, giving Echo an obstacle...
  9. Hammered out issues in chat! Sewer chase upcoming! To kick off, there will be some parkour stuff; fallen masonry. Its toughness 12, weighing about a ton. You can vault it (Acrobatics DC 15), or overrun it, or blast it, etc etc. At the moment, Deadbolt has a slight lead from the initiative he took.
  10. With Echos strength and speed thats no problem; technically TinHat will need to be grappled; which is unlikely to cause a problem but will require both hands (without the Improved Grapple feat). Probably need some rolls to hit (his Defence is 16, or +6), and an opposed grapple roll (his is Resist Grapple: 1d20+10 28) So it does depend a bit on what you want to do!
  11. That's fine by me; I don't see it coming up, but fine if it does!
  12. Well, with 10, you realise that Sir August Card has a brain! Just struck me I am not sure which PCs know each other, as either secret ID or public persona (you can go as both, or even in disguise), so let me know both how you go, and if you would know the other PCs.
  13. IC OOC To plea to you all, please give me steer on what story progression you would like for your PCs. I don't like imposing my vision on others PCs; alongside this, please let me know your tolerance levels for your character failing / losing / being humiliated etc; I know Heri and Ari trust me on this (and know their limits), but sounding out for Alder and Durf. (PS don't panic, I am not sadistic!)
  14. Feel free to narrate how you arrive, this will be fairly freeform. Flavour has a touch of Bond/Casino Royale to it. So there will be social conflict / danger, but not (probably) violence. Please please please, post ideas and comments here about where you would like to go, what story you would like to tell with your PC, how you would like to explore and progress your PC. I can't promise I can make it happen, but I will at least listen!
  15. OOC of this We wont need much of it, but probably will need it. For starters, feel free to use below reputation table; Ill assume you make a judgement call about whether, and in how much depth (i.e. a roll, or taking the hours to take 20) you research etc the High Steaks and its owner Sir August Card Gather Information DC 10 DC 15 DC 20 DC 25 DC 30 Knowledge (Business) DC 15 DC 20 DC 25 The High Steaks Gather Information or Knowledge (Business) DC 10 DC 15 DC 20 DC 25
  16. August 6th, Saturday Evening Freedom City, the Boardwalk Opening Night! Sir August Card has great pleasure in announcing The High Steaks Reopening Night August 6th Entrance $500 All inclusive food and drink Complementary $50 Chips for Gambling All night Event Places Limited This is a Card Productions Ltd Event Please refer to rules and regulations etc with regards to High Steaks gambling and conduct Strictly Black Tie Only No Riff-Raff So said the "open" invitation flyer. Of course, not many could afford such a swish event. And besides, the flyers had a habit of being onlcy circulated amongst the rich and powerful of Freedom City. Or, ideally, the rich and powerful. The last words of the flyer were often alluded to with an unspoken emphasis. After all, places were limited, and choices would have to be made. The High Steaks had been closed for a few months, done up, and looked even more resplendent than ever. It had always had an excellent reputation, but now, it seemed, it was gunning for a world class one. Stretch Limos dropped off well dressed couples, or singles (and even a well known playboy with a dame on each arm). The building looked neither completely modern or completely antiquated. Built in the 70s, it kept the best of that era and had styles both before and after bolted on. Perhaps it shouldn't have worked, but the refurbishment had clearly involved some excellent architects, artists, and builders, and it most certainly looked the part, in and out...
  17. Good stuff! Presto judges the cave as being borderline unstable. There is a risk of collapse with loud noises, violent impact, etc. There is also some stuff down in the cave that I will describe in historical detail given your excellent history roll! Post your descent and I shall take it from there. May want a notice roll for prosperity too! (and an Arcane Knowledge Roll!)
  18. Ill leave this open a bit longer, wouldn't want more than four people here, however. Debating throwing Lord Steam in (Im not super comfortable with GMing and playing though, but he would fit). Ill happily put the Speaker in, Ari, as long as you add his link in your signature!
  19. Hi, thanks for doing these, Kaige. Lord Steam, steampunk Detective, is actually based in Freedom City, but I did wonder if, as a rich Socialite, "Believe It or Not" would fit. PL 8 character. Red Rat might work for Mind over Muscle (if you and Alder dont mind to Computer Hackers in a thread, although Red Rat not as able as Sofia), alternatively, All that Glitters sounds fun.
  20. HAndyman or Red Rat for the heist (As discussed in chat). But only if you dig them being in!
  21. The presence of more snow globes was interesting. Odd. Interesting. Flintlock decided she would certainly by one. Maybe two. One she was here in her more solid form. The thing was, she was struggling where to go; her astral form could sweep through the city in a blink of an eye, but it was still an city. Much to see. It was beginning to look like a needle in a haystack. But the industrial area held out hope. Slavery was, after all, a form of industry - horrible as it might be. The biggest problem would be subtle transporting of poor souls, the prisons. And highly populated areas would not always be the most attractive... Off, her astral form flew!
  22. For a moment, Flintlock contemplated revealing herself, but decided against it. Sailors where a superstitious lot, by her estimation, and her astral projection, ghostly, materialising to question them on what they had seen was unlikely to go down well. No, better to do that in the flesh, so to speak. Clues aside, 'twas good to see the harbour before the Black Flag docked there. A pirate ship never went down well, other than its antique appeal. The influx of pirate movies over the recent years had been something she had used once or twice. Several ports were still awaiting the Pirates of the Dead Man's Boots which she had persuaded was filming and would be released any time soon. Ish. Onwards she floated. She could not smell the fish in the Astral Plane, but they still had that rubbery texture that did not translate well to the strange realm she was in...
  23. Something crept, slithering. That was all it was, a feeling. But it was also most pertinent. It could not be ignored. Her instincts had lead her to suspect something was afoot, something more murky than mere theft. And here, she felt her instincts justified. The Astral Plane felt cold, somehow. Presumably the Astral plane was different for everyone, for everything, for every moment or place. But right now, it felt cold and horrible. Was the fingerprint of the Unspeakable one here? To even catch a shadow of him would shatter stronger minds than Flintlock's. Even the possibility... Enough, she must drive forward, floating through the ether, towards the harbor. Eyes open, Ears open...
  24. They do indeed trigger Echo's dimensional awareness. Something is very off with him! Speed; well he technically has Speed 7 (1000mph), so he is actually slower than Echo, by a bit. She can tell that much. That said, travelling at full speed through dark, slimy, twisting Sewers may well be another matter! So he is not going that fast. Also, at these speeds you can have a degree of tracking - the filth (literally, the Sh*t) will be spraying everywhere! Don't go overboard with the gross factor on the IC thread, however!
