  1. GM "Su-su-shure thing, man!" replied Jenkins, clearly relived not to be ash. "B-b-but there ain't nobody here. Just the chief. He sent everyone else home. Just me on my lonesome" he explained, wringing his hands. "Although you can bet your pants that I'll be glad to go. Yes sir, no worries there. I quit this job! it sucks! I'm gonna do something less dangerous. Like shark-wrangling or sumthin'" he blabbered, keen to run. "Let him go...." said Marie, almost cold in her fury, as she called for the elevator. It didn't come. "Lockdown. Guess its the stairs. Good for cardio..." she said, determined. The stairs were indeed open, both the main ones and the fire escape backup. Five flights of shiny and cold steel and glass.
  2. GM Another few minutes later.... "An-Ar-Chy!" yelled the thugs, as windows were smashed and tags sprayed. A dumpster was set alight. The front door melted off its hinges, the furious flames of the fiery Bonfire doing their work. It might have been reinforced steel, but it could not withstand his assault for even a minute. Alarms dinged, lights blinked. The half-asleep security guard at the main desk was now very much awake indeed. "Look, ma-an...I don't want any trouble. Just took the job to feed mah kids..." he gibbered, laying his pistol on the floor, and raising his hands. Jenkins said his nametag. Fear said the sweat on his brown and armpits. "Whatever you want, man...I mean, I don't even like these guys...." Marie pointed to the map of the five story building. "Top level...the Neutronium reactor....we superheat that, I can rig it to blow the whole building..."
  3. GM A few minutes later A street or two from the main entrance of Neutron Industries Five thugs approached and knocked on the door. "Hired help" said Marie, not without distaste. The thugs were dressed "Street"; denim, tattoos, leathers. But no guns, interestingly. They scowled and looked mean and tough. Tough enough to shakedown an innocent bystander. But they were hardly the mercenaries that Marie had hired before. "Distraction" explained Marie. "Make some noise, guys" she told her crew "go get your wrecking balls and spray cans" she said, to some enthusiasm. She turned to Bonfire, talking in French to avoid being understood by the thugs. "Look, these guys are stupid, and dumb, and cheap. And probably criminals. Almost certainly criminals. But they will serve as pawns. If we go in, they can make some noise, break some windows, maybe even set a fire. Do you object?" she asked.
  4. "If we have weapons at all. Our new tribe may want as fighting with spears and knives. Or perhaps nothing at all..." he replied. He was unsure if grade 12 plasma weapons would be allowed, especially if they were insane bloodthirsty artificial intelligences. Despite the danger, part of Starshot felt a call of honour or primitive nobility. There was something more primal, or even fair, about spears and knives, even if more dangerous. "But if that is the case, then we make the best of it" he said, fortifying himself for the task ahead. "In any case, whatever we face, we face together. Spread out, encircle the beast, and flank it..."
  5. "So, in this fine establishment resides the mysterious boss, the master of gauntlets" said Doctor Warp, examining the building from afar with his telescopic vision. "Now, we don't have the faintest idea of whom this gentleman is, what he looks like, or if indeed he is a gentleman at all. Could be a pan-dimensional sentient clove of garlic, for all we know..." "What we need is a cloak of invisibility. And I don't mean a cloak that is invisible, but one that makes you invisible" His patented invisi-cloth had, in his opinion, been a fantastic invention. But some had, rightly, complained, that whilst it technically was cloth, and technically was invisible, its marketing had been somewhat misleading in that regard. Most people, it seemed, didn't like going to work apparently naked, even if they, technically, were not.
  6. GM "I have called in reinforcements" explained Marie, in reference to her furious typing on the Gas-mobiles computer. "My mercenary friends have left, but I still have a few contacts, a few favours, and a little money. And money gets you anything, it seems" she said, a little bitter. "But you are right; I can't turn into smoke, or fly. You are going the best bet for getting into Neutron Industries. I can follow, with a few guns and knives at my side. Perhaps a distraction for you" she said, thoughtful. "But once inside, it will need both of our expertise. The grenades here" she said, indicating the Gas-Man's arsenal "are small fry. Neutron Industries houses nuclear materials and has more than enough energy to grind itself to dust. Like the first time, my friend..."
  7. GM Marie seemed keen on the idea of a full frontal assault. Possibly, it was just that she was keen on assault, be it from behind, below, above, or direct. "Then straight we will be" she said, smacking fist into palm. "Like a battering ram, direct, honest, and just. Neutron industries shall be rubble by the time the sun rises" The Gas Mobile was heavy and armoured, and likely to be an effective ram, if so used, but there was neither the time or expertise to consider the engineering parameters. Neutron Industries was not in a busy nor quiet part of town. But at this time of the night, it would likely be all but deserted. Some nominal security staff, possibly a few cleaners. Nothing more. The more significant problem would be its automated security - cameras, alarms and so on. And more than that, Neutron Industries had a declared interest in (and, Marie and Bonfire had personal experience of) robotics - and the type of robotics that had a distinctly military flavour.
  8. PS using extra effort for that stunt. Not much I can do for billy right now, but next round!
  9. Struggling along, cane clicking against the ground as she limped to the treeline, Pitch made a fist to the air. "Lets forge something of steel!" Concentrating, she drew on the power of the infernal forge, a realm of smoke, fire, and steel, endlessly, mindlessly, insanely churning away without any known purpose. A power of heat and metal. And from that awful mad dimension, the ground erupted with churning, whirring spikes and blades and other horrible forms that all had edges and points which could quite easily make ones eyes water if one considered it too carefully. But, no mercy from Pitch when it came to impaling demons. The ground sprung alive, a sea of steel, replacing the smoke and ash that she had called forth previously.

Born millenia ago, Dee Nile was a powerful Pharoah who was considered a living God, blessed by the almighty Nile. He was consumed by his own arrogance, and was an ignoarant tyrant, believing himself to be a God instead of just recipient of some magic powers. His maltreated slaves made an infernal deal, and locked him in an unknown tomb. Centuries later, he was "rescued" by archeologists. With a trove of treasure in his tomb (golden chains and talismans), he has set himself up in the new world... Suggested Complications 1: Blessed is the Nile: Not only can the niles water be taken away from Dee Nile, but they are easily destroyed and hard to replace. Within a few days, the waters lose their power to recharge him, and thus he must pay for supplies to be flown over. Dee Nile could carry a vial of Nile Water with him, but, you know, glass is fragile... 2: Enemies: His slaves from years ago are now demons or spirits, and haunt him, both metaphorically (his guilt) and actually. 3: Dee Niles powers come from his connection to the River nile, which might have its own agenda. Any disruptio to that river might also cause a power loss. 4: Ignorant: of the modern world. 5: Running water: Does not deprive him of his powers, but will give an overpowering sense of awe, hypnotising him and paralysing him. This religious-type trance is disabling (although he will slowly walk out of such water...) not only does running water cause this trance, if he sees it, he might not be able to resist the rapture...
  11. GM A little later, past midnight... The starlight was beautiful, but soon overtaken by the neon ambience of Freedom Cities streets. It was quieter now, but not serene. People still bustled. Drunks, thugs, and women of disreputable profession spiced the pavements, mingling with workers and entertainers, sellers, buyers, and those wanting to be entertained. The law seemed more porous at night, despite the inevitable patrol cars looking at for more serious crime. The inside of the Gas-car was not plush but it was functional. It was dirty but lined with grenades of all types, although unfortunately no gas masks. "Want a couple?" asked Marie, pocketing what looked like a poison gas grenade. Neutron industries was not far away. "From the streets or from the sewers?" asked Marie. "Hopefully they haven't found my base, but I wouldn't put it past them, not after what we did..." She tapped away on the vehicles computer, looking at emails and social media sites. It wasn't pretty. She appeared to be scouting for help...
  12. The email was soon answered, by many. Some whacky, some insane, some genuine. Some suspicious. "I appreciate the motivation" sighed a cynical Marie. "But your e mail is surely being monitored by their spies and nerds. And you just gave your location" she explained. "We better make our getaway before something worse than the Gasman comes to town" "Leave her with me. I'll make sure she gets the treatment she needs" interrupted the Reverend. "I hope that's more than the last rites..." mumbled Casey, with a trace (but only a trace) of mirth. "Speaking of the Gasman, can you drive an armoured car?" asked Marie, eyeballing the Gasman's armed vehicle.
  13. Right, running this past you for stunt approval off Infernal Forge It will dissapate the smoke, but lets bring something else up from the ground. Damage 11 (Extras: Area [Burst], Duration [Concentration], Feats: Affect Insubstantial 1) [34 PP] Basically this is a riff of her autofire metal array, making the ground seethe with metal spikes around her. If possible, ill throw in an increase area affect to increase targets. Built into this of course is that anyone not on the ground won't get effected - so Billy is safe, and arguably any flying elephants will be too! Ill wait for approval before posting.
  14. GM The funnel was, indeed, not far away. Through the glowing and toxic tunnels they went, then, arising like a geyser through the grave to starlight and a hand-wringing Reverend. "Good Lord! What happened to her?" asked the elderly cleric, peering over - but not too close, since Casey was still intermittently retching. Looked pale. "I feel like Satan's backside...." the plucky (or now, regretful) reporter mumbled. "No need to blaspheme, child! Now is not the time to be making enemies in the hereafter!" clucked the Reverend, concerned more for her soul than her flesh, it seemed. "I aim to live!" she replied, mustering her defiance. Out of the funnel came the glowing Marie. Whilst her luminescence had decreased, her anger had not. And with the faint glow of starlight, she still shone. "Finish this! Let's blow up their headquarters! Should have done it the first time!"
  15. gm Further frothing of the ghastly, almost ghostly purple energy was not forthcoming. There was just an ethereal glow of unsettling hue. Strange algae on the sewer walls, undoubtedly already mutated, lapped up the energy and seemed to mutate still further, almost in front of Bonfire's eyes. If Case was any better, or indeed worse, after the blast of radiation or the pills, she did not show it. A trail of vomitus, stringy and particularly noxious, lay down her chin and onto Bonfire'so hand. "Not one of my better days...." she said weakly. "REVENGE!" came the call from behind them. Marine had been apparent, you shielded from the radiation blast thanks to her remarkably sturdy suit, but she glowering red from its after effects, and it suited her. She was incandescent with rage as well as rays. "Enough is enough!" she screameducation. "I'm taking down Neutron industries tonight. By any means necessary! Are you with me?" She gave Bonfire a determined and penetrative glare. "Well? ARE YOU WITH ME?"
  16. More heroics means you gain an hp which counters the go expenditure No need for more extra effort to lift Casey. I'll post ic when I can!
  17. Actually I looked it up - she does not die at all! (or she might). She makes another save in a days time - which if she fails, she will suffer the effects. However, she is infected with radiation poisoning now, and won't be able to shake it off until she has two successive fort saves.
  18. Combat over: Energy Tsunami Ahoy! This is a nasty Drain 10 (CON) Effect, with the disease modifier. Fort DC 20 Save please. Fort Save vs Radiation Disease: 1d20 3 for Casey. Meaning she will die! In the mean time, a hero point to Bonfire for rescuing her - sort of... Bonfire - 3 HP - Bruised
  19. Green's voice could be heard in the speakers behind Bonfire. "Not so fast! Think you can get away so easy?" he yelled through crackling and sparkling loudspeakers that had been half-fired by the radiation flash. An ominous build up of bubbles and heat could be felt from the dumping chamber. "Run!" screamed Marie, turning to do that very task. "Its about to Blo...." The last two drill bots, in a suicidal act, had dived into the green goo and detonated themsleves. The result was catastrophic - a rolling wave of horrible purple energy waved out of the pit, engulfing Marie, and hurling itself like a tsunami of energy down the corridor and into the sewers...
  20. Go ahead! Its not for everyone, but do remember you can always choose to auto-fail a roll (and take the consequences) for a hero point. which you may feel inclined to if your winning streak of rolls feels unattractive.
  21. GM The room was spartan, bar the bubbling pit and the tiny tunnels the drillbots had made. Squeezing between some of the rusted machinery might have provided some cover but would probably not be the most sensible of tactics. The drills bots scuttled around, making it hard to keep track of their complex web of limbs, bodies, and laser - firing noses. The chamber was somewhat cramped, and unleashing a full volcano may have lacked prudence. And yet when smoke and fire swam through the concrete chamber, two more of the scuttling many-limbed automatons exploded in sparks and shards. The pool of green ooze reacted even more energetically this time. "I don't like the look of this...it's going to blow!" wailed Marie, trying, without apparent effect, to turn some knobs, pull some levers, and stab some buttons on the out of date, rusted machinery. A wave of heat and light engulfed the room for the bubbling green sludge. It was a rather sickening, toxic light. The kind of light one might get, for instance, when a burst of rather unpleasant radiation bloomed. "I don't...feel...so good...." mumbled Marie, leaning over and vomiting.
  22. Right-o! So DC 14 Reflex Saves first Reflex Saves: 4#1d20+8 12 20 21 12 #2 and 3 make it. And then a DC 19 or 17 Toughness Save Toughness Save: 4#1d20+5 15 7 21 19 2 more destroyed, 2 scuttle out of the way. Marie is going to respond to the bubbling goo. Round 3 24 Bonfire - 2 HP - Bruised 21 Drillbots [2] 20 Marie The Goo now releases a massive blast of heat and radiation. Marie, in her suit, is immune. Bonfire is of course immune to the heat but takes a Nauseate DC 20 Save from radiation poisoning. This effect is essentially continuous until you escape from the dumping cell (to stop us getting bogged down with repeated saves). Casey is Fort Save vs Radiation: 1d20 13 Nauseated.
  23. Will do - Shapeable area might be tricky in this confined area and with various equipment, Marie, and Casey standing around. Doable, but tricky. I would suggest either playing it as inclusive (meaning machinery) damaged and a 50% chance of hitting Marie or Casey, but catching all bots), medium (Catch all the bots but they get +5 situational bonus on reflex save and 50% chance of machinery damage or narrow (hitting all the bots, but at half rank damage 4 effect). One of the issues with Shapeable is that whilst you do get to choose which areas are hit is is a) still not selective (adjacent things are hit), and b) you still have to fill up all the area of effect equal to your rank. I hope that on the fly ruling is ok - let me know how wide you want to hit the bots. Move action: There isn't really any effective cover for you - unless you want to dive into the pool of green gunk (Which would, admittedly, be good cover!) You could arguably squeeze in between some machinery but that probably would need an escape artist roll and would flat foot you...
  24. The scuttling robots beeped and blinked, crawling effortlessly on the walls and ceiling of the dumping chamber. It seemed that there drills were only one aspect of their burrowing ability, as striking red laser beams fired from the tips of those drills (which, it seemed, were diamond-tipped, if one was so inclined to scavenge). The laser beams raked up, down, left and right, targeting Bonfire through the smoke. Despite best efforts and considerable agility, it was nearly impossible to completely avoid the web of lethal light. "Infrared - you fool! Don't think we didn't come prepared!" came Green's voice through the loudspeakers, still tinny and crackling, but gloating all the same. "You won't be smiling when I melt your teeth!" shouted Marie, eye goggles flaring, and her own blast of green light hitting one of the robots, causing it to explode in a shower of sparks. Some of said sparks fizzed into the central pit of green goo, which bubbled most alarmingly. A blast of heat hit everyone...
  25. Ill give an HP for complication (Heat signature), which the drillbots can sense. And now, they will track on to that, and FIRE..... ...LASER BEAMS! Fire Laser Beams: 5#1d20+8 10 18 11 22 24 Two beams hit, each giving a toughness 20 Save. Marie will return fire Fires at Drillbot: 1d20+10 22 A DC 25 Toughness save for one drill bot, which, giving it is a minion with a toughness of 5, Im just going to say explodes.
