  1. Initiativbe vs Elephants: 1d20+6 25 If so delaying, will delay action. If the acid hounds approach, will summon smoke/heat.
  2. "Elephants? What in the name of Texas!" blurted Carmen. "Fire me up!" she commanded Tazel, and in a blink of eye she was smoke and embers, twisted burnt leather and twisted burnt metal, breathing hot ash, with fiery eyes. "Billy, take cover!" she commanded. She gripped the Cantos Cane with one hand, and cracked the knuckles of her other. She did not fancy the acidic breath of the bat-dogs one bit. But exactly what was going on here? She crouched down, not wishing to draw attention to herself, and watched...

  4. I pulling out of this thread. I will explain why in PMs. Best, SC.
  5. Post away, Goose!
  6. OK guys, I think I am going to have to pull this together in a rather brutal way to stop the thread being caught up discussing plans in an unduly long way; from the IC thread I am not entirely sure that there is agreement between Torpedo Lass and Bonfire and its dragging. Apologies, I rarely do this (extremely rarely actually) but this part of the thread is neither dangerous nor particularly pertinent. Arguably I have made a mistake in even having this scene at all (my apologies). As I understand it TL will be following the ship, and there are two options a) Try to swag yourself on board as sailors or simply via bribery, or b) hide via Bonfires power (and/or a little guile). Both will work. The only material difference is that a) will give you some information / banter with the crew, and b) will give you some information on the cargo. Irrespective, Torpedo Lass will be able to study the ship, might get cargo information, and will have the opportunity to scout the island when they arrive. If I have missed any other option please let me know, but we need to stop drag on a relatively minor part of the thread, so I'm going to suggest that you make a call on this (OOC) thread so we can tie it up. Again, I am sorry if this seems a rather brutal scene cut etc, but my experience of GMing here (and on other sites) is that getting bogged down in plans and details about minor aspects of threads is toxic to the life of the thread! In addition, my experience is that some soft rail roading at the beginning of a thread is an unfortunate necessity (and i hate rail roading). If I have missed anything (I often do), or object to anything, please let me know. If you have any ideas about how to press forward or things to throw in the mix, also please do so!
  7. GM A few minutes later... The gate guard was fast asleep, thanks to some superspy drug in his coffee. It did not appear that said drug was altogether benign. The poor man was having some kind of nightmare, twitching and gabbling in an Italian accent. "Don Marcone! I swear-a I did not-a sleep-a with your beautiful daughter! Please...no! no! not-a the elbows!" There was a patrol of two bored men in the docks. Even without Bonfire's abilities, it would have been easy enough to avoid them. The Bond 7 was now in eyeshot. A smallish vessel, a little chipped and needing a lick of paint but, to the experienced eyes of Torpedo Lass, a fair vessel that looked seaworthy. The last few cargo crates were being loaded by the crew, who numbered about a dozen, as far as could be seen. It was perhaps a bigger crew than would be needed. Whilst the sailors did not look military, and were not armed, one could suspect that a few extra hands had been hired for security.
  8. "Fat cop, thin cop, is it?" said Doctor Warp, an ugly grin on his ugly face. "But we can't let that horrible Van get away!" he decided. He reached out for Eternal Dragon and grabbed him by his costume as if he was but a cuddly toy. "Get ready for a ride, Kung Fu, and keep hold of your pants!" he called out, and then stretched his arm still further, further, like a rubber band in reverse, hauling the Eternal Dragon through the streets of Freedom City and with a last effort, flicking him onto the roof of the Van.
  9. GM "That is good enough for me" replied Svetlana. "It will give us all a chance to investigate the cargo and the ship" "Plans are good, but situations change. We cannot plan for every eventuality. I do not think, however, we will be in great danger. A dozen sailors, even armed, would be no match for two superheroes. If need be, we can overpower the ship without any risk. It is just that such circumstance will lead to more questions and less answers".
  10. GM Svetlana looked momentarily irritated at the question. "Unfortunately, no" she conceded, hand on hip. "There lies the rub. I am good at finding things out. But I am not good at pretending to be a sailor. I had considered seducing the captain. I found out that I am the wrong gender for his tastes. And I may be good, handsome, but I'm not that good". "I may not be able to get on board, but I think it would be best if I did, no? I may not be much help in a fight, but I know about the island" she said, almost begging. "If you have any ideas, then please let me know. If you can get me in one of the crates, maybe? or into a hold? I can hold out for a day or two..." she said, determined and proud.
  11. GM Freedom City Docks 17th April Early hours of the morning At this time of night, there was a dark chill. The moon and stars were shut out by thick clouds, and the only light was of moody neon flowers. A slight wet filled the air, from spitting rain. Freedom City Docks was not a violent place, bar a few drunks. Security was not, perhaps, as tight as it should be. A few mesh fences, a few cameras, a few patrols, a few padlocks. Svetlana was dressed up for the insipid cool air, in a red fur coat. As she turned, Bonfire and Torpedo lass could see a gun on her hip, before the coat swished back into place. “I drugged the watchman, picked the locks, and disabled the cameras” she said casually, twirling a set of lock picks. “Might be a few patrol or two. I’m not sure. Something about the Bond 7 seems a little jittery. Might be the time of the night. Might be high value cargo. They are loading her up now. If we could get into a cargo crate, that might help. A little bribery might help even more…” she said, twirling an impressive roll of cash in her other hand.
  12. In my opinion no need to swap. Keep the GPS and you can have a single person life raft "Free". Her backstory and skills would make that available if she wanted.
  13. The Encryption is very good. There is nothing here that is hidden, as far as your contact can tell, but the actual Encryption programmes look reminiscent of cold-war USA software (or at least adapted from such software).
  14. The data stick, if you look at it, will help confirm the above data. There is nothing particularly interesting but it all confirms Svetlanas story. The only notable thing is it is encrypted data. If you have time and resources and exceptional computer or craft (electronic) skills you may be able to get more information, but there is nothing suspicious.
  15. RIght then: BOnfire first: -Torpedo Lass: Sailor can give yo that info! -Born Island Born Island is a small, or even tiny, island off the Carribean. It will take about two days to get there by boat. It is hot. It has a gentle jungle type environment. Looking between the lines, Born island has some distinctly artificial qualities to it. -Bond 7 Bond 7 is a regular small shipping vessel, captained by one Art Moss. It seems to be totally legal, although digging carefully Art Moss has been investigated twice for minor violent charges (alcohol fuelled). -Darwin X Darwin X is a heavily restricted information cache. There are rumours, often shut down. Foreshadow and Synapse (of the London Supergroup Vanguard) have made reports of the virus about two years ago. It may have been Russian in origin. Torpedo Lass: The ship is a robust small vessel. It looks like it is built for speed rather than capacity. Looks solid. Not armed or dangerous, as far as you can tell. Consulting the various sea charts and weather maps, you come to the conclusion it would take about 30 hours to reach Born Island. Svetlana: You find nothing. Which is, of course, suspicious! Either she is extremely good at hiding her tracks, or its an alias.
  16. If you want to make knowledge or gather information rolls, please do so
  17. As Starshot suspected, it was telepathy. Greetings Athru the Red of the Ul-Mor, I am Star the Shot, of the Skyship Xeno he ad libbed. Our skyship fell into the sea of sands. We are sick and hurt, and need water. He explained, hopefully filling his thoughts with peace, love and harmony. Of course the mere effort of doing this had precisely the opposite effect. By trying his utmost to avoid any thoughts of malice or violence, those thoughts came unbidden. Guns. Sweat. Blood. World War II....
  18. At least it was not throwing spears or smashing clubs. Starshot snapped back his helm, and took it off his head, taking it under his arm. The dice were in the lap of the Gods, and so was he. Taking a no doubt clumsy guess at the ritual act, he bowed slightly, tapped his own head, and offered his blond locks to the tentacle.
  19. Give me the heads up when you want a scene cut. I guess that will be towards the Docks, but let me know.
  20. GM Sveta was had a soft face that was hard to read. Or maybe a hard face that was soft to read. That was kind of the problem. "Darling, you can call me any time" she said enigmatically. She placed two dimes on the bar, and slid them, to the slide of a doublebass string, towards Bonfire and Torpedo Lass. "Ultrashort Radio communicators. Only about a hundred feet or so, but good enough for show business" she explained. "Just squeeze to activate. Ill be listening in. Freedom City Docks, 4am this morning" She glanced at he watch. It was already nearing 23:00. Best get your beauty sleep and a strong alarm. Or just some strong coffee. Or something else to stimulate you" she winked, before swishing and swaying out of the club...
  21. I'm going to suggest Doctor Warp picking up the Eternal Dragon, and by stretching either placing him on the roof of the Van, or, if necessary, and we are feeling all dramatic and acrobatic sailing through the air, throwing him onto the Van! Thoughts and rolls?
  22. GM Sveta put down her drink. Maybe she didin't like getting too drunk. Maybe it had served its purpose. A deep bass solo started from the stage. It was cool. "Good thinking" she acknowledged. "A shipment is happening this morning. Early morning, by the way. At 0500 hours a small cargo vessel, the Bond 7, is setting off. I have everything on that data stick, including its location. Born Island." "I would like to get on that ship. Take a look at it. And hitch a ride" she explained. "But I can't spit fire, and I I'm not a human submarine" she explained. "As far as I know they don't have IR on the ship. Maybe on the dock, but I can deal with that easily enough" she commented, confidently. "Keep the stick. Its yours" she said, pushing the drive into Bonfires hands. Her hard red fingernails lingered and scraped his hands just for a second.
  23. Starshot was not sure he could fight two aliens, let alone twenty. If they were just primitives with little skill or strength, he would feel confident in taking down a few dozen. But they did not seem to lack for strength or skill. And they were tired and, in Laarks case, wounded. He powered down Trigger, dropped the gun, and stood his ground. And trusted in the fates. "Soreen, if you can speak octopus, this would be a good time. They remind me of some horror writer from my planet. Too many alien tentacles" He didn't now or fall to his knees. Yet. If he needed to spring into action, and risk all in a mad fight, then by the alien and uncaring Gods of the universe, he would go down fighting.
  24. Doctor Warp lunged towards the last conscious thug and gripped him tightly, arms bending in a horrible way to ensnare the man. "Stop that Van!" he proposed to the Eternal Dragon and Bonfire. "I hate Vans. They are almost always driven by high school drop outs and sociology students! And if not, then possibly by criminals! Whatever the case, Stop that Van!" He gave an ugly smile to the crook in his grip. "If you spill your guts, I'll let you go! I'm after the big man at the top, and the layabout driving that Van!" he demanded. His eyes bulged and he scanned the gauntlets that the three men had been wearing.
  25. So I think the only remaining target is Ice Thug, and we need someone conscious for questioning! Grappling him. I doubt grapple rolls are needed! Doctor warp will look at the gauntlets though, with Microscopic Vision 4 and Knowledge (Physical Sciences / Technology) +20. Taking 10 for a 30 result.
