The Robots were slow, and, if not quite clumsy, not making much effort to avoid the raking machine guns of the two French Soldiers. The room filled with reverberating deafening noise. Sparks flew off the two robots. They were tough ones, but bullets were bullets, and the shiny sleek surface exploded with scratches and sparks. "ERROR! ERROR! COMMENCE VIOLENCE!" they chorused, although they looked creaky. "Stop it!" hissed Marie, still hard at work feeding the reactor with Uranium.
-
Ok so bear with me, been a while since I done this... Marie remains focussed on the reactor and wont act (and is actually flat footed) FIre on Robots: 2#1d20+5 14 18 the Soldiers both hit the Robots 1 and 2. With Autofire thats DC 20 and DC 22 Toughness saves Toughness vs SMG: 2#1d20+10 23 15 THe bullets are also whizzing round the room. Danger! High Voltage! Bonfire is up

They are slow lumbering bots so Im giving you the edge. Also, the tie breaker is DEX! (Which you win!) Also giving you an HP for various trigerrings of IR and so on and so forth! Round 1: 15 Marie 14 Soldiers 8 Bonfire - 2 HP 8 Robots
-
Ok, whilst the Robots are not actually attacking (just dismantling the reactor, for now), it would appear to be a good time to roll initiative. Initiative: 1d20 8 for Robots Initiative: 1d20+4 15 for Marie Initiative: 1d20 14 for Soldiers FOr reference: Soldiers are based on the M&M Core book build, armed with grenades and SMGs STR 13, DEX 12, CON 13, INT 10, WIS 10, CHA 10 Att +5, Defence +5, Fort +4, Reflex +1, Will +1, Tough +1 (+5 with Body Armour) DC 16 Unarmed, DC 19 SMG, SC 20 Grenade

The Robots stomped past Bonfire uncaring, unfeeling, and without the faintest signs of intelligence. "Securitons! Powered by Lithium-13 Batteries!" shouted Marie. "They have no AI, just programmed to obey..." she said, furious with the turn of events. She shuddered with the effort of containing her emotion, but perhaps a little to much Uranium-7 was being added to the reactor than was wise. Dials started wobbling into the red zone, and there were more bubbles in the frothing liquid than there had been. The two French Soldiers started backing off, and flicking the safety off their submachine guns....

He always knows EXACTLY where his teeth are. Suggested Background Jawbreaker was a personal chef to a mad scientist. When a nuclear powered robot went insane and punched the snot out of him, he was left with low grade brain damage, a completely deformed skull, and the ability to absorb what he eats! He can become incredibly tough by eating inanimate objects, or, by ingesting cooked organic food, boost his intelligence by an amount equal to the INT of the consumed flesh. He has armed himself with a high-tech cooking implement. Complications 1. Bone ugly. Jawbreaker has massive, virtually unbreakable jaw. THis renders him virtually immune to headstrikes but also spectacularly ugly. 2: Brain Damage. Aside from his low INT has virtually no sense of direction and gets lost at the drop of a hat. 3: Yeth Mart'ter. Years of serving mad scientists means he defers to them by reflex. 4: Animal Lover. His best friend is "Scraps" the obese cat that he feeds. He loves all animals. 5: Magnificent nose: Whilst his sense of smell is excellent, he will be driven to distraction or ooutright fury at badly cooked food.

Quick thread to post PC/NPC stuff. Mainly for my interest in warped PCs/NPCs. Drop me a pm if you want to challenge me with a warped idea.

The other door to the lab swished open with a swish. STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP came the sound of steel feet on a steel floor, and in marched two robots. They were seven feet of glistening steel and smooth curves. Like a Ferrari, but clearly not fast. Huge hands to grip, glowing red eyes, and "Neutron Industries!" written proudly in comic book style over their chest. "INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT!" they screamed in unpleasant static voices. The intercom cut in. "This is security Chief Green! Pull the plug on the reactor!" came the command over the intercom. "AFF-ERM-A-TIVE" they said in tandem, and started stomping towards the reactor. "No! I haven't finished yet!" hissed a tearful Marie.
-
"We can hope not..." whispered Marie. "But be careful. Neutron Industries takes their security seriously. They have to..." she explained. Together, they climbed to the balcony and trod as lightly as they could on the steel. It creaked. Just before they hit the door to the laboratory, Bonfire noticed an alarm silently beeping. Marie was less than pleased with the alarm, and more than pleased with the eyes of Bonfire. "A close shave!" she explained as she set about disarming it. It took a few minutes of sweat. The laboratory itself was more cluttered, with various high end devices and computers, power cables on the floor, spectrograms, geigercounters, and shelves full of exotic and quite possibly dangerous materials. Marie paused a moment to open up a frosted cabinet, pulling out a dark heavy suit of black, with a radiation warning sign on its chest. "My old suit! I built this for the more dangerous work..." she explained, examining the geiger counter strapped to its wrist. "Radiation levels low, but I wouldn't linger" she explained, before moving to the centrepiece of the laboratory, a complex machine of pipes, lights, dials, laser beams, and glass tubes full of furiously glowing materials. "Once this is in" she explained, hauling the Uranium - 7 into an intake pipe "we just need to superheat it....but I need to introduce it slowly to avoid a critical meltdown...give me a minute..." The temperature gauge of the reactor started flashing, and silent lights flipped on... Bonfire could hear the gentle swish of powered doors opening beyond the laboratory...
-
GM And ready they were. Marie and her friends had already carved out an entrance to Neutron industries, with cutters and torches. It must have been painstaking work, but carefully they had tunnelled upwards, following pipes, to the basement of the building. Almost silently, they opened a hatch to the basement, which appeared to be a cold steel room with cold dull glass. Gadgets and beeping machines were its wall paper. A central tank full of vaguely green-purple liquid gently simmered. "Cooling chamber...." explained Marie. "That tank is actually below a hundred degrees. Get in that, and you will be lucky to get out..." she explained. She pointed to one of the doors above them, up a ladder and onto a balcony. "That door above us, it leads to the reactor laboratory. If we get in there, we can introduce the Uranium 7 into the system, then superheat it. I hope you are feeling hot!" she said, giving Bonfire a squeeze on his arm.

GM "Gotta look after them family, huh?" smiled Mr Crooks, pulling up to the impressive hotel. The impressive hotel was, indeed, impressive. Splendid architecture of a bygone age, spruced up with glass and lights. It was low, only two stories, but broad, built by the coast which as blisteringly blue. Swimming pools, indoor, and outdoor, conference rooms, three five star restaurants, bars, and an abundance of service staff in spiffy uniforms peppered with sparkling cuffs and buttons of brass. The Royal Buck is Proud to Host the 17th International Conference on Electronic Economies read the sign. A number of rooms and conference rooms were hosting the event. "Wow! I had no idea she was rich as well as beautiful!" gasped Dwayne, pressing his nose to the window of the limo with such force that one might imagine he could somehow meld through it.

Pitch circled around, seeing just fine through the smoke and gripping her cane. Silent would be nice, but her braced leg dropped, and ground in the dirt. Stealth ain't my style. For all its power as a chain to the Infernal, the Cantos cane was still a cane, and a rather good one at that, with a heavy brass top. And it did not need to be infused with black magic, inscribed with unspeakable symbols, or fashioned from terrible woods to function as a rather effective club. And so, her body fired up with Tazel to impressive strength, she proceeded to bring the weighted brass down onto the skulls of one of the hounds...

Hmmm, if its ok with you can I auto fail that due to her disability?

There was not, in Starshots opinion, much choice - or at best, very little. The rites of passage might be gruelling or dangerous, but surely less so that their current predicament. We would be honoured to join the noble tribe of Ul-Mor To his crewmates, he turned to explain. "Our friends here have water. And we don't" he explained, bluntly. "They will share, but we need to join their tribe. At this point, its our best, and possibly only option. There is too much desert and too little water. If you want to back out, well, I can't make you join a tribe. Dying slowly and horribly in this endless sand might make you though..." "Lets just hope we don't have to marry one of them..."

You may wish to make a knowledge (physical sciences) roll DC 15 to understand the research data. There is a lot here though. Overall, the picture is incomplete, but (Aside from the above roll) there are signs that Neutron Industries are at least unclean (and quite probably rather dirty). Knowledge (Civics) might help but probably needs to be trainedto understand.

GM Marie seemed angry, but agreed. She placed her goggles back over her burning eye sockets, and brought him to the PC. It was a good one too, although without much in the way of niceties. There were a number of discs and drives stored, in neat order and neatly labelled. Clearly going through all the information would be a days work, if not more. "Here you go, my friend...I worked there, remember?" she said, a bit harshly, and then apparently softening as she realised she had been harsh. "I'm sorry, my friend, I am passionate about them. That can make me hard, brutal even. But I was not always this so, and I hope to have some kindness in my heart still..." Files popped up on screen, detailing materials, research data, and the like. Clearly Marie did not have all the pieces of the jigsaw, but she had amassed a considerable amount of evidence from her time there...

"Oh shall I go? Shall I go? Shall I go? I can't decide....what shall I do?" He paused, before coming to a decision. The next day....BARBADOS! The sky was blue. The sun was hot. Sunblock was most assuredly advised. "Jennie X" was apparently going to meet her electronic lover in "the Royal Buck" which was, it seemed, a five star hotel. And apparently, Dwayne and his sister(s) were being transported there by stretch limo. The driver was a rather handsome man with a rather handsome blue suit, who seemed happy, cheerful, and rather keen to look particularly handsome when he saw Nicki. He dropped a few generous compliments about her style, beauty, and wit. Then, he dropped a few more. "Charlie Crooks" was his name, but there was nothing criminal about him other than his sparkling white teeth in his sparkling wide smile. "What brings you to Barbados, Ma'am?" he asked as Dwayne rubbed his head and muttered about the "beepings". "You have a great hotel! The Royal Buck is top of the line! Why, even Amir Misri is staying there!"
-
Marie seemed irritated at the delay, but stopped nonetheless. "They are experimenting. And not in a safe way. Neutron Industries are purely interested in profit. And they make a lot of profit. They might not technically make nuclear weapons, but they certainly pave the way to interested parties, including unstable regimes, Russia, the Middle East..." "And believe me, they do not treat their employees well" she said, angrily. Doing so, she tore off her goggles. Her eyes were gone. Instead, there were two fiery balls of radioactive light in there place. "You see what they did to me? A searing ball of fire! I doubt I have more than 5 years left before it consumes me!" she said, bitter and twisted. "I will not leave the world in ashes! They must be stopped! And there is no other way. If you do not believe me, then I beg of you to come, and I will show you!"

So given the obscure effect is kept up, Pitch will move a bit (just to keep them on their toes) and attack with the Cantos Cane (as a plain old stick!) I don't know if they are minions (in which case, will take 10) but Smack Hound with Stick: 1d20+11 27 hits. Which means a DC 24 Toughness save! (Also, who is up IC?)

GM "[Flammable?]" answered Marie, quite pleased to speak her native tongue*. "Yes, best to speak in French. I did not know you spoke it. If people overhear us, it affords us some protection, yes?" she explained. "We have C4 Plastic Explosive. A back up, in case I cannot dismantle the experimental reactor. I would prefer not to use it. Dangerous. But, be assured, I will not rest till I have taken down Neutron Industries, one way or another! They cannot do...what they have done...." she said, containing her fury. "I'd keep it as back up..." she said, recomposing herself. "So, unless you must, please refrain from eating it!" she said, actually lightening up with a gay laugh. "But now, I think we must act, and soon...the rats have only doubled my resolve, and we may have been followed. We must go, and up!" she said, pointing overhead. A rusted iron ladder lead upwards to blackness, and, with flashlights pointed, a steel trapdoor. Above them lay the offices of Neutron Industries. "I am grateful for your assistance, Monsieur Bonfire. For if I am to disable the plant, the Uranium would need to be super-heated...something I think you would be most helpful with!"

Toughness save vs Hounds: 1d20+11 13 I think thats a little to hard to swallow right now, so I will reroll. Toughness vs Hellhounds HP reroll: 1d10+10+11 22 as bad as it gets, but only a bruise (and injury?)

GM Five stinkin' minutes later... "Home! of a sort!" said Marie. And she had done a fairly good job of it. Running water, TV, computer, electricity, even a poster of "Hyperquest!", a 1970s Sci Fi show which had inspired many young (or not so young scientists) of the modern day. Best of all, Marie had concealed it. It would be a devil to find, and had unknown passages off to several parts of Freedom City Sewers. Rather disconcertingly, two men resided there. Both were tall, both were strong, and both had automatic weapons. They had a distinct military feel for them. "Jack" was bald, scarred, and grinning. "Karl" had dreadlocks, a dark complexion, and grinned not at all. A few tattoos, suggestive of some regiment or another, dotted their exposed skin. There was a moment of tension when Jack and Karl saw Bonfire, until Marie calmed things down, explaining the situation. "I needed some help, I got these guys. French Foreign Legion, or at least they used to be..." she told Bonfire. "They are...backup...." This appeared not to apply to their firearms so much as their skill with demolitions and the plastic explosives that Marie had somehow acquired.

No probs, will study the gauntlets later!

"A suit? A suit?" gasped Dwayne. A few minutes later... Dwayne was dressed in an ill fitting jacket and ill fitting jeans. He now spotted two sneakers and a clean(er) t shirt with a "Hyperquest!" logo, a popular 1970s Science Fiction show. "What am I going to say? What I am going to say? We are meeting at...." Several dozen minutes later, Freedom City Park... Dwayne squirmed in the Park seat, checking his phone every few seconds, even though he could "Hear" it at any moment with his unusual "gift". The park, whilst not devoid of technology (most particularly, all the mobiles), was relatively calm and soothing for him. "What am I going to say? What am I going to say?" he kept mumbling. As it happened, his fears were not required today, but more than needed tomorrow. A courier; a spotty girl on a bicycle with stick thin limbs and magnificently blonde hair in a totally mediocre pony tail, cycled towards them, dressed in a nice red uniform. "Letter for Mr. Dwayne! Letter for Mr. Dwayne!" she announced, and Dwayne spent no time at all pouncing to his feet. The letter was neat, polite, and rather swish. "Sorry I couldn't come, today. But I have something even better! Come meet me in Barbados!" was the letter. And in it, enclosed, a ticket for a flight tomorrow morning!
