GM "Hmmm....what? By Vishnu, I believe you are correct, Madam!" said Singh, peering at the man, and then grasping his gun. "Why, I am no expert of course. Engineering is my field, good hard science. But it is splendid that there is still a place for the less rigorous subjects, what ho?" he said, cheerily at Synapse. "Do not fear Madam. This house is no doubt dangerous. But I shall see to it that the young man there gets a jolly good hiding, and tells us everything he has to know about the Thugee and this den of ill repute. Why, what sordid activities I have heard of! the mind quite boggles. You may have to shield your eyes Madam! I would not have it on my honor that you should be exposed to the depravities of hedonistic sex and drugs that the common classes expose themselves too!" he said, suspiciously excited. And with that, he drew his Gun and proceeded to march forthwith to the youth...

There certainly are...nothing big but various archeological digs etc. Not particularly pertinent to the course of action off the top of my head, other than to note that the area has a lot of mysticism and ancient culture.
-
That does fine. Whilst you are of course in an alternative dimension, you recognise the tattoos as symbols of Kali hindu Goddess, in her later incantations as change / violence / destruction. You also recognise some tattoos that have been associated with the Thuggee cult. i.e. he is a lookout for the cult. Feel free to grab some narrative licence about the meanings and symbols - the brush strokes are as above.

Also: HGM, is that an intimidate from Glamazon? if so shoot me a roll! - although technically it would mean the Marines might help you when you are around, and stab you in the back when not! (Good old core rules!) At the moment they are indifferent. In other words, they have their own agenda and will not especially help or hinder you outside of that agenda.

GM Mr Amar clapped his hands and wiped the sweat from his brow. "The Van, excellent! Best! Excellent and reliable!" he said, kicking the tyres to show how wonderful it was. The price was certainly affordable for either of the two heroes. It was, as Mr Amar said, cheap. Whether it was reliable or not. Well, that was another matter... He tossed the keys to the heroes. It started with a belch that made Professor Zaki's eyebrows rise. He had at least had the prudence to fetch large amounts of water that he loaded into the back of the Van. On his map, he showed Erick and Dee the old military centre...maybe two hours drive south. The sun had nearly set, and night would be apon them soon. "Where you go? Nice trip to tombs of pharoes?" asked Mr Amar casually.

"Damn, that's some funky stuff" said Pitch as Equinox explained it to her. "I don't know half of what you said, but I get the whole Ley Line and Life Vibe..." she confessed. A bit out of her field of experience though. All that Wicca and Druid stuff, she guessed. Most Rock Bands went in for Satanism and Sorcery, but there was enough of a melting pot to get the gist. "I guess we need a closer look. And, I am guessing that coffin is a Gordian knot. I hope you are good at untying it, otherwise I'm gonna split it in two and have a look at whatever is in it" she grinned. Fire me up Tazel! Once again the demon exploded in her gut, filling her with smoke and flame and sulphur, her clothes became studded, her eyes glowed. "Unless you can freeze water, it's swimming time..." she guessed. At least Tazel would keep her warm. She waded in knee deep, ready to plunge in. Steam fizzed around her smoking body.

No leaks in vessel! But you can slosh it around the floor if you want!
-
She can examine all the vehicles. They are all clapped out, but the Four Wheel Drive appears to be have tampered with (it will thus break down super quick!)

So feel free to make rolls or stuff or other stuff. Diplomacy, Sense Motive, Knoweldge (Business), Craft (Mechanical) or whatever else you fancy doing!

GM "Your offer is tempting, but alas, I fear it is based on false premises" sighed Professor Zaki. "I am not safe until this thing is seen through. I connect the dots. Snipers...Mutant Frogmen...these attacks were not random. They found us. I don't know how, but they did. They want us to stop looking, ideally permanently. I do not believe if I was to return to my office, teach history and drink tea, that I would be safe. Not at this juncture. We have bitten on to something, and I believe it will bite back..." "As for a vehicle..." The local mechanic, a Mr Adel Amar, was old, greasy, and curiously handsome at the same time. One of those guys with muscle and fat liberally applied to his limbs, so one could not quite tell how strong he was. He had three vehicles, all clapped out. A motorbike with side car, a four wheel drive, and a white van. It was hard to say which would be the most reliable. "Which one ya want? I sell them all, good prices!"

GM Or would he? The Monorail was heading for Trinity. That had always been the plan. And it sped along, with the odd screech that sounded rather nerve jangling. Even a few sparks. The Monorail had been jarred by Geckoman and Tonic's tussle. The Cops were halfway through setting up the Cordon as Geckoman and Monorail halted a couple of dozen yards from the Hospital, still high up, on the Rail. Below, police cars were pulling up, lights flashing, and people of all sorts milling around; doctors, nurses, bystanders, paramedics. "Ho, its Geckoman! Dude, you better have played this one right, its pandemonium down here!" yelled up a young Police officer, pointing at the Green Hero and giving a friendly wave. He wasn't half off the mark, either. It would be a good few minutes before the Police had properly cordoned off the hospital, and even then, there would be a lot of angry civillians on both side of the lines...
-
Cordon is good. SuperMAX, not so good
-
GM "A cordon? Around Trinity hospital?" answered the police officer with the misfortune to pick up the phone. "We can do that...but...this is a hospital, right? Ambulances, nurses, doctors, patients...we can't just isolate the building!" he said, knowing he would get an earful for his position. "We gotta have details, Geckoman! What's going on? Who do we stop? What's the threat? We can't just shut down a hospital without a good reason...and even then, setting up a cordon..." In fairness, he was signalling to the other offices to start assembling. To do something...but...what? Tick tock tick tock Every second on the phone was another second Dr Tonic was pounding his way towards Trinity. And now, out of sight. By foot? By car? By hijacked ambulance? or even police car?...however mad the doctor was, he was clearly far from stupid...

Starshot didn't know if he should shake the General's hand, or salute him. He elected for neither. Diplomacy did not come easy to him, but he had, over the years, learned how to at least not antagonise people. At the end of the day, he provided a service, and that meant the odd smile. "Pleased too meet you, General" he said. And servant? that rankled somehow. The lines between servant, employee, and slave...they could look fuzzy at times. "I guess its a passenger manifest of two? I can take you anywhere you want in the galaxy. The Xeno is one of the fastest ships there is, and all in the lap of luxury. Its a first rate Yacht" he explained. "I don't ask too many questions, either. But, have to ask a few, and explain a few things. If you are on board the Xeno, you are my responsibility. Your safety is on me. I'm not one for barking orders, but if you are my responsibility, that does mean you need to follow my lead. I know that may not come so easy to a General, but I hope you can understand how I have to work. I've been on some of the most dangerous hunts in the Galaxy, and I have had to kick a few tourists backsides from time to time. On the plus side, I never lost a customer yet!" he said breezily.

Its a bit of a Stretch, but DC 20 Knowledge (Theology) or (History) to recognise the Tattoos as associated with the Hindu god Kali / Thuggee cult. +4 for Eidectic memory.

GM A short while later... "Dangerous, this. Make no mistake!" said Captain Singh, walking steadily in front of Dee and tapping his trusty revolver. "But don't worry overmuch, ma'am! I will protect you!" The dusty, hot part of town where the Thuggee were rumoured to hide out was a street full of spices, beggars, noise and colour. Food was being sold on the street, and children danced around the odd three people. Captain Singh actually applied his boot to the rear end of a particularly insistent begger who kept tugging at Dee. "Leave her alone, guttersnipe! She is a Lady!" he yelled at him in Hindi as the beggar slithered off. The Thugee house - or at least, rumoured abode, was an old building of wood and stone, crumbling a little, but still sound. Strange exotic smells came from the inside, along with deep rhythmic music. A youth, bare chested and sandalled, head shaved, tattoos present, leaned by the door, scowling at those that approached who looked like they had empty pockets. Not that many tried their luck. The beggars seemed to avoid that place.

The Captain looked scared and anrgy at the same time. But perhaps scared ran out. "As you wish, madam" he said, through gritted teeth. He set to work pushing the boat full steam ahead. "As far as I am concerned, the sooner we get there, the better!" At the next port... "Port" was stretching it. A small tourist trap, full of peddlers and junk, would be more accurate. Boats lay here, and you could buy any number of things. The Captain of the boat adamantly refused to go any further and headed off to the nearest tea house, in all likelihood to get some alcohol. "It is not far from here, I estimate" said Zaki, studying the map of Egypt and plotting the coordinates of the "abandoned" military facility. It was by the Nile, across dusty roads and dry earth. "THere are three options. Another boat, and risk the frogmen of the nile finding us", "or across land. Either by car, or by..." He pointed at a trio of camels that were being hauled across the street.

GM "Ah yes, your attire. Most interesting, I dare say. Perhaps it is the latest thing from Paris? Very queer indeed" he said. "But I am sure we can whip up something more conventional as befits a woman of the Empire" he smiled, pleased with himself. One whipping up later... "Here you are madam, the finest Sari a lady could wish for!" he smiled. Putting on a Sari was of course no mean feat for the uninitiated. But help was available if needed. Between Singh and the hospital, a lady of the realm was easily furbished with a colourful garment. "As for the Thugee...there are dangerous parts of this town, where they are rumored to be. Opium dens, houses of ill repute. If not them, the hills are where the real rogues are. I am open to suggestion as to how to catch the rotters. Without bowling them out, I fear the line will never be finished..." he looked dejectedly.

"BP? Well, ya can't trust those stuffy nosed toffy Brit's ya know" sighed the Hound, defiantly drinking down two cups of 'coffee' in defiance. "Take that guy, what's he called. Lord Steam? Says he is the worlds best detective. Typical pompous artistocrat. Worlds best ar--" "Yeah, we'll help you out, mister" interrupted the Mess. "We ain't busy, and you got a problem there we can help with" "And your paying" grinned the Hound, carrying on that train of thought. "So, you accused of murdering this other jockey? Number one suspect and all that?...or who is the victim?"

So move action to jump into the Hangman, and punching him again; non shifted. 1d20+10=20 I think that misses based on above. Ill post after HGM does.

With a crack of the gun, it was the Red Rats turn to eat a bullet. It chiselled its way just above her collar bone, to the sound of bone splintering. Not the first time she had been shot. And just a flesh wound. But still.. "You shot me, you bum!" she said, as she started to bleed. She wasn't in the habit of eating bullets. A quick step forward and she threw her fist into the gunman, all knuckles, all power, all force. Flesh wound that time, but damn it smarted, and bullets were not always flesh wounds.
-
THat does hit, although fortunately minions cannot crit non-minions, so a a DC 18 Tough Save. 1d20+8=25 which is pretty good! So I will do the same attack on the still armed gunman, taking 10, shifting, etc, which I guess means a DC 21 Toughness roll.

"Hey buster, we can help. That is, as long as you didn't do it. Thing is, we are quite good at getting to the truth. So make sure its the truth you are paying for" replied the Hound with a smile. It didn't happen so often, but every now and again some desperate soul would try his or her luck with them, trying to shake off the truth, trying to escape their guilt. A few minutes later he offered the man some instant coffee. And not the expensive stuff either. No expense spared at the Bloodhound Detective Agency. Which meant that No expense was spared from the Hounds cheapness. "So, tell us the problem, and we'll get digging" he said. The Mess half slumbered on the beat up leather sofa. It looked like the Hound would do the eyework, the Mess would do any actual physical digging with his spade like hands.

The fire and smoke of Pitch dimmed a moment, as she absorbed the animation. "What infernal force is this?" she asked the universe. If it was, actually infernal. That was pretty much her first guess about anything. She crunched her fist together, feeling knuckles crack and smoke belch. The Statue....copper, but any metal always belonged to the Infernal Forge, the endless plane of fire, smoke, and steel, where machines ground on endlessly, the whole apparatus appearing only to serve one function - perpetuating the apparatus. She could feel the copper in her hand, and exerted her will on it, lifting the statue ..but...it was so heavy, so powerful. Doubt crept into her mind, and the grip was gone.
