GM "Hey man, that's mine!" yelped the thug as Geckoman relieved him of his weapon. Then his eyes widened, his throat dried, and his skin dampened with sweat. "Holy hells! its the Geck----" "Eat lead fool!" shouted one of the other thugs, brandishing his gun. "I don't think these are lead, dude..." whispered one of the other thugs. And then a volley of darts flew through the air. They were silent, a hissing of gas and pfffft pfft pffft with every dart. Silent, but not deadly. As Geckoman found out. He was fast, they were bad shots, but every once in a blue moon, a missaimed shot would end up precisely where his superhuman reflexes took him. A dart had ended up in his big toe. A little bit of ouch, like a doctor, but his toe was not blown off or dissolving in acid. It looked a bit silly, for sure. And then, a feeling of numbness in the toe... "See man, that dude told us he would be here!"

The four thugs fire! Bam Bam Bam! and Bam! Of course they can only succeed on natural 20s. 1d20+2=22, 1d20+2=6, 1d20+2=16, 1d20+2=6 Well whaddya know? Thats a DC 15 Fort Save Fatigue Effect please. If you wish you can be knocked out by that for an HP.

As per chat, lets just say that happens!

GM Amanda Adams eyes fluttered. She may have passed out with the awesome excitement of the actual Valerie Cain being actual sexy in her actual dressing room. But sure as she was her number one fan, the voice of Valerie Cain would wake her up. She had dreamed as much, and now it was so... "Mmmnn...Valerie your lips taste like..." she mumbled as she awoke. "Hey...what are you doing here, B%tch!" she screamed as another woman greeted her eyes. And worse, was undressing. "I was here the first, you $%^£$! I am her number one fan! Get out! Get out! She's mine, you shameless %$£!, I'm going to $%^£^%$£! your $^%$!^%£ with a ^%$!^%$ and blunt wooden spoon!" she yelled, consumed by rage. There was nothing for it! She had only one course of action! "I'm going to scratch your eyes out!" yelled the green monster in her eyes, before leaping at Rachel with clawed hands!

GM The doom arrived. Four people first. Little more than bystanders, innocent crusaders filled with blind purpose and loaded guns. Every reason to suspect they had crucifixes, stakes, and silver bullets too, like the hunters Bloodline had met first. Flashlight beams in every hand, scouring the world with dedicated purpose. And behind them, another man. He was dressed in white clothes, almost a robe, or a coat, or a cape. In one hand, a silver edged rapier, in the other, what looked like an ancient musket pistol. He looked a few centuries out of place, bar his head. A military shave, a scar or two, and furious eyes. Something in those eyes was deep and full, a man who could see things that others could. The eyes of a visionary. "I see you, demon! I am Daybreak! And the world will be cleansed. Death must Die! Death must Die! Death must DIe!" he roared, a chant joined in gleefully by his acolytes.

Cool, TA. Let us know when you would like to run this. It sounds an awesome intro to your PC, and a befitting legacy for Ari and the King of Suits.

GM "I'll survive" he replied, with a weak smile. "It's been a helluva week to be beaten up, huh? I mean, I know Gay-bashing is the flavour of the month, but this is ridiculous!" he japed. Whatever the crushing circumstance, Vince seemed to be a guy with a sense of absurd humour. The Huntsman arrived on his steed, looking around, his huge Elephant Gun on his shoulder, scanning the ground. "Gone? Impossible!" he said to himself, vexed. His eyes went to the tops of the trees. "Up there? Surely not? Even for so magnificent a beast!" he said, examining the nearby trees. Whatever else he was, his eyes were as sharp as a hawks and his skill in tracking beasts seemed virtually superhuman. His horse pawed at the ground, eager to run, but the Huntsman would have none of it. Surely it was only a matter of time before he spotted Vince and Skaere...

"You know what, this ride is on me" sighed Neomi. It was one of the strangest rides she had ever had, and in Freedom City, home of flying capes and sorcerers from strange dimensions, that was saying something. "Besides, I think you will need that money for your medical bills. I don't really want to know how you got that money, either. Or rather, I do want to know, but I wont ask you". Honesty was sometimes the best deception. "Thankyou for using EZ Cabs. Please take a card" she smiled, giving him one of the cheaply printed flimsy things that "Big Easy" gave his drivers for his company. Cheap card for a cheap cab. But then, you gets whats you pays for. She waved goodbye to the man. She had no intention of sleeping into the morning though. That house, that man. The Red Rat would be looking into that...

GM "Coffee! Sounds excellent!" smiled the duke rubbing his eyes and yawning again. His posture was just slightly less slumped, although he could fall asleep at any moment. "Rutte! Get me a coffee if you would be so good!" he yelled in an aristocratic commanding voice. "Hmm? Who tied me up! I am as open minded as the next Duke...but this is not the time or place!" he added before attending to the question posed him. "My experiments here? Yes, do forgive the disorganisation here" he apologised, referring to the menagerie of dangerous electricals. "I have a creative mind, but not a tidy one, you see" he explained. "These experiments were to try and resolve my little problem" he said. "See, I think it is a success!" he smiled, indicating at a dial which had risen. He then dropped his head, his smile giving way to a rubbery slumber of facial muscles, punctuated by more snoring.

So the staff will not react, although you may want to post something appropriate for that battle!

"You are right" said Noemi, trying to relax. She was good at that, at least. I kind of alert relaxation. Ready for danger but not burning herself up in preparation. "New to Freedom City. Helluva place, huh? Drags the mysterious and the mighty" she shrugged. "And the mob, too, buster. Don't think I ain't seen enough weirdo's at night to be cautious" she explained. And here, she was right. Night shifts in some areas were no picnic. "And I ain't thinkin' you are out to get me either. But, from the looks of you, you are out to get someone, huh? No stranger to violence, and with a jaw set too dance with it again, if I am guessing. Hell, I don't know what road you are on, and where you came from. Army? Boxer? Whatever. But I do know that won't be the last bullet in you" she explained. "So let me ask a question. Are you new in town too?"

It is a battle of Wills! By will, we do of course mean unmodified CHA roll! 1d20+4=10 for Necromme!

GM "How dare you! How dare you touch me!" said a shocked 'Wayward' indignant and red with fury. It seemed her body was not used to modulating the rush of hormones and endocrines that flooded through a newly alive brain. "Guards! Guards! Execute this woman!" she shouted at the various aides and security officers around 'her' She caught herself, logic and reason rushing in. "Security! Get this woman off of me! No press! No fans!" she corrected herself, voice commanding all the same. The various people around her jostled to make sense of the invading madness. On the one hand, Wayward was a star. On the other hand, and stars could be diva's - rude, aggressive, drug addled diva's. On the other hand, Wayward was looking pretty mad even by those rather stiff standards...

Huzzah! Post away

Noemi dutifully pulled into Osgood, trying to process the man. He must have been tough as nails, or made of nails, to survive all the punishment he had. And he was packing too. But no guns. "There is tough, and there is iron" she said as she pulled up to the address he had given her. "My friend, looks like the first time you have carved a bullet out of your chest" she commented, words truer than he would suspect. "What's your plan then, Garrotte me from behind, or stab me in the front?" she asked, bluntly. "You say I am ok, well, thats good and all, but what about you? Strange as it may seem, I don't often drive around gangsters or assassins!" she said, laughing a little to take the sting out of the comment.

Yeah, he can sneak away to his hearts content vs these guys now!

GM Time passed... The men had tried a few of the drugs. And were a little zone out, sleepy. "Hey, its Spectox V! Just like what that guy what told us!" had yelled one man, shaking a bottle of pills. "Cool man! Lets get high!" "Just one or, maybe three" smiled another. "Careful, dude, that stuff is serious!" said the last, pulling out a gun from his Mac. The Gun seemed to be higher tech than your regular Pistol. More like a dart gun, the kind you use to knock out Elephants. "He loaded us with these! Heavy duty, he said!" "Yeah Man, awesome! Real chill pills!" said the man who first found the bottle, popping one. And the others were not far behind, sleepy, relaxed, a little disinhibited. "Who was that guy, anwherehow? He was a few nuts short of a cake" slurred the first guy, who had taken two. "Like, no name, no face, and no name!" he said freaking out for a second, before the drugs surpressed any anxiety he had about the unsatisfactory nature of affairs. "He looked seriously like he was a few bolts short of a cake!" he continued "Had those crazy eyes, you know? Like he was a few bolts short of a cake!" "And he had no face and no name!" he finished, in a moment of drug induced clarity and zen.

GM The men crept into MAX MEDICINES, looking like a bunch of crooks. Which, to be fair, was what they were. They wore balaclavas, gloves, and long black macs, and muttered to themselves as they started prowling the small medical research lab. Every now and again, they would pick up a medicine bottle and read out the names, in comedic fashion. Unintentional comedic fashion, that is. Whatever they were, it was pretty easy to say they had no medical training or pharmacological skill. In fact, your average guy off the street could probably do a better job. "Inn Sue Lin?" "Prop-a-nol?" "Die---Zed Pam?" "Forget the Die Z Pam, man! Lets go find some highs whilst we are here! May as well help ourselves. We only got hired to break in!" There were a few smiles, a few laughs. And no sound of any alarm.

GM A short while later... Grimalkin and Velocity took little time to move the staff out of the Castle. The thing with Castles is, they are big and empty without staff. The spooky factor raised just so slightly in the silence. Down in the Cellar, Robert was studying the machines with droopy eyes when the terrific twosome returned. "Its...complicated..." he said, sweeping his arm over all the machines, the cables, and the monolith in the centre. "And my head feels like a glue factory" he said, shaking it. "Everything stuck together. Whatever else the Duke knows, he sure know's how to cook up a sedative" he said, pressing fingers to eyes to wake him up. "I think it something to do with speed. Some kind of chronal experiments. Replicating tachyons, that kind of thing...but...if I was feeling more awake maybe I could..." Once again the lights blinked, the dials rose, and the cables fizzed again. "There...you see it?" he asked. "It activates when you are here, Sweetheart" he said, smiling at Velocity. "And...I can feel it too...like something is feeding off you, and time speeding up again...like a quantum heartbeat with a serious arrhythmia. To small to notice, although I notice it. I always have the ticking in my head since...well, you know..." he said. Whenever he talked about the Stopwatch, there was always a slight pain, a slight emptiness to him. The Duke snored slightly, and his eyes fluttered open. "Where am I? What happened?" he asked, yawning.

I forgot to say! Feel free to narrate the trail that lead you to Cairo, be it investigation, contacts, luck, or precognition! Also, it is up to you how you want to start off, in or out of costume, or even in disguise! (In which case, disguise roll!)

OOC for Foreshadow and Synapse in a sort of sequel to Winter Wonderland.
-
GM Cairo Midday September the 5th Egypt. Land of culture, history, and Gods. And right now, political upheaval was rife. But this is where Doctor Zero's experiments had started, back decades ago into the cold war. It seemed that whenever Doctor Zero and the Sleeper where involved, politics was a storm. Between Synapse and Foreshadow, the trail had twisted, turned, and obscured. But it had lead here, Cairo. And in particular, a Professor Zaki. Professor of history and politics, who had looked most carefully at President Nasser's allegiance with the Soviet Union. He had strong suspicions that the Soviets - and Zero in particular - had used Egyptians as guinea pigs in developing Darwin X And in some sweaty coffee shop in a dusty Cairo street, he waited for the pair...

"Yeah..." said Noemi, rather confused. She had a packet of the stuff, actually, and decided to lob the whole box at him. Or at least lob into into his hands rather than his face. "And for the record, Mister. Normal people don't just cough up bullets. Unless they asked a pizza joint for lead topping. What the hell happened to you?" Her eyes were not normal. And not just in the way of the rest of her body, thanks to Darwin-X. No, the Soviets had decided she could use the SLAVE system. Because she was the only one who could tolerate it. The systems was not just the computer in her head. Her eyes, brilliant blue and beautiful, were artificial. She looked carefully at the man, scanning him with X-Rays. Broken bones? Hidden Guns? More Bullets? And the most important question...was that a human skeleton? "And what kind of guy survives being shot and spits out the bullet later?"
