  1. GM Just past midnight... ...September the 5th... ...Outside MAX MEDICINES!... The Van had caught Geckoman's eye. Was it too clean? Was it parked illegally? Was the engine running for too long, with no movement? Was it the five men that got out, and took a crowbar to the back door of MAX MEDICINES? It was cool night, but clear. The stars and moon lit up Freedom City, and in the North End, the soft amber roses of street lights always kept it bathed in a warm light. This almost looked to obvious. It was not quite the clumsy break and entry of street kids, grabbing a TV for their next fix of whatever drug had hit the streets this month. It was hardly a professional job either. It hovered in between. It was odd, however that no alarm went off... Geckoman could smell something on the crooks. Some kind of sickly sweet pheremone or scent. Not falling into unpleasant or pleasant either, just something that was distinctive.
  2. GM The staff needed little encouragement and less direction. It appeared on Rutte had any loyalty to his employer, if even he did. They scrabbled out of the cellar as quickly as the sparking power cords on the floor would let them. It was perhaps fortunate that nobody got electrocuted on the way out. There was, again, a subtle surge of power. Lights blinked, cables fizzed, and dials turned whenever Velocity was in the room. Robert was waking up. He still looked half asleep, his eyelids heavy and his mouth yawning like a machine gun. He mumbled instead of spoke. "What...what happened?" he asked, trying to wake up, trying to sit up, but instead just slumping on the bed in the cellar. "I was...strawberries...cream...wait..." he said, shaking his head. "The ticking...it is strange...speeding up...not slowing down..." he said, pressing his fingers to his temples to try and compress his skull and focus his concentration.
  3. "You just got shut then? huh. Glad it wasn't anything serious" Alert: Gunshot in chest likely to cause extreme risk to life! She momentarily clenched her fists at the obvious statement. Slave was programmed for tactical and digital analysis, and everything in the world was seen through those glasses. "My boss would probably kill me if there was blood on the seat, y'know? But, honestly, right now, I am little more concerned as to how a man keeps grinning after being shot in the chest and then pulls a bullet out of his frickin' chest!" Alert: Target may be unstable. Superior size and strength calculated. Warning! Her foot brushed the accelerator pad. As the Red Rat, she would feel confident enough taking on any bruiser in the back seat. She was a lot stronger than she looked, and a skilled fighter. But right now, she was not the Red Rat, she was Noemi Newman. "You are a freaky dude, man. But I guess you know that. Still, I wouldn't mind being paid, even if you do freak me out!"

  5. GM Cord was breathing shallow, his face was white and sweaty. He had several injuries, and both his legs were broken, it was plain to see. Most worrisome, a large gash on his chest, bleeding heavily. "Well...we saved the world...huh...partner!" he gasped, wincing with the pain. "God it hurts....I feel faint....but....it is so beautiful here....I feel...at peace..." he said, eyelids sagging despite the pain. It was beautiful, in its own way. Snow laden trees, a sprinkling of snow on their faces. Silence now, the animals had fled. Even the wind was still and clear. It was a picturesque place to die. Some of the fuselage was still intact, and the Pilot had managed to half limp, half crawl to them. "There is a first aid kit...might still be intact..." he said, looking in enough pain himself. One foot had swollen to a balloon, thanks to a broken ankle. But he looked like he would live, at least. Gold was unconscious, but looked like all he had sustained was multiple abrasions and bruises. Ironically, he was the one who was in a sedative stupor.

    Dream of You(IC)

Being contacted in the head was not so unusual for Rene. All sorts of ghosts and spirits did it, as well as sorcerers and warlocks. But...his memory was good at the best of times. And now, tired, and fresh out of the dreamlands, it was more sluggish than normal. "Ah yes! I remember! Daphne....yes....the girl at ze flower shop! Non! The woman at ze Museum! Non...non!" His memory was a little fuzzy at the best of times, but the dreamlands and his fatigue made it worse. Then, the pieces clicked together. "Ah Oui! Daphne, from the Dreamlands! Why did you not say so?" he scolded her. The coincidence was too much to discard. "It seems most strange you should phone now. When the dreams have some infection. Tell me, why do you phone? Are you having nightmares? Terrors? Are you in despair? There is a parasite awakened, who feasts on the hopelessness of souls!" he explained, waving his finger dramatically. Before stabbing it at the painting in front of him. "But it has one less course!" he smiled at the painter.
  7. Noemi looked at the man shocked. Was the man even a man? He looked more like a werewolf right then. Carefully, she pulled her gun out of the glove compartment. A silenced automatic pistol. Top range, silent, and loaded. Right now, with rubber bullets, although she had a magazine full of the real deal in her car too. She just didn't want to kill anybody if she didn't have to. Enough with the political assassinations. "Hey man, that didn't sound right..." she called out tentatively, wondering just who or what the man was. She cast a quick look back at the seat he had travelled in, half expecting to see wolf hair, blood, or some of the man's inner organs lying on the seat. Perhaps a wiser person would have sped off at that point. But she had faced danger enough. And she wanted to know exactly what was going on. And, besides everything else, he hadn't paid her yet...
  8. Yeah, ill throw in a +2 Situational modifier for spotting a great place (of your choosing) to make her Stealth check 24.
  9. OOC for Our aquatic heroes plunge to the depths, in search of Captain Blood and the Drowned Man. But what will they find.....?
  10. GM The Mid Atlantic September the 1st, Morning... In the wake of the near sinking of the Cruise Ship Magnificent the Ocean was undergoing some increase in Military Manuevers. More for show and confidence than effect. Captain Blood had vanished, and his spectral ghost ship was unlikely to be shredded by conventional shells. Still. A show of force reassured people. The Missile Cruiser Luther was just one of those vessels, commanded by Captain Gomez, a somewhat short, lined man of Mexican descent and keen intellect swirling in black eyes. And he had invited the heroes of that day, the saving of the Magnificent, to his ship. With news. "We can't find Captain Blood anywhere" he conceded. "Although we are doing are best. Thing is, we aren't sure our satellites and scanners could detect him anywhere" he sighed. "Although we have picked up some other unusual readings. Sea bed activity, not matching any non seismic pattern. We send submarines down, but too late. Can catch it. We though it might be the Russians, or some military venture. But they deny it. Of course, they would deny it anyway..." he shrugged. Politics were above his pay grade. "We need some answers. We need someone who can get down to the sea bed, and get down fast..." he explained.
  11. Cool post away! (Also, off rail comment. Love the goose picture!)
  12. GM Tazel, you always warn me against doing the right thing, you toad! But don't worry. I think Violence is coming... Pitch put one boot on the seat of her Motorcycle, wrapping an arm around it in a lazy fashion and turning her red eyes to Nick. "The River. Sounds 60s, man. Cosmic, ya might say. Reminds me of that crazy dude the Radical" she mused. She knew enough about counter culture, working for a Rock Magazine. "As for who or what when up there, I guess I don't know. Looks like everything with legs goes up there. Guess we only get to find out when we go up there too...I just hope in ain't a one way ticket...Cos' I aim to come back..." No matter what ya say, Tazel! I'm coming back. And so, for that matter, are you! Once more she poured some infernal oil into her bike, ready to supercharge it. The engine revved a little, firing fire from the exhaust and a rain of ash. "So guys, anyone want a ride?"
  13. Carmen Cantos stopped her bike near the glowing meteorite, surfing the wave of crowds and emergency services. Click Click She was no expert Photographer. But she was good enough to make some solid bucks on these pictures. Good enough for a pinch. Then, she started feeling the heat, a singe in the air, a curling of hair. That red warmth of fire. Something crawled in her spine, and she put the camera back. She had enough shots. This felt... ...dangerous? She turned the bike around and sped off into an alleyway, unseen, behind trash and dumpsters and the smell of stale urine. Fire Me Up! The demon in her belly bled fire and brimstone into vein and muscle. The car that came out was all smoke, steel, bony thorns. The rider was changed too...the rider was Pitch. She smoked her way to the Meteor, the Cantos Cane in her hand, her eyes orange and black, her mouth flickering with the demon a blaze deep down in her. Her clothes were studded, leathered, and burnt. And the heat of the meteor was nothing to one infused with a demon. Striding forth, oblivious to the crowds, she crouched down to touch the meteor...
  14. "Both of them! They both did it!" said the Rat, snapping her fingers into imaginary guns, pointing at both pictures. She was suspicious. Not in a paranoid persecutory way. More in a practical, spy way. "So, what connects the two main suspects, eh? Any phone calls? Clandestine meetings? Did they have a love affair?" she said, tapping her finger on her chin and her boot on the roof. "Can we bug them? Tap the wires? Access phone records? E mails? Just get me close to them and I can hack em!" And maybe the Franklins too...she added to herself. Data intrusion on Corrupt American Capitalistic Americans is highly recommended! For once, Slave may have been right...

    Mall Rat

GM "What you doing?" yelped Mr. Swish, panicking and pulling back as though Daphne was a horde of wasps. He was pretty freaked. And perhaps just then Daphne was not so different from a horde of wasps. She certainly stung. The sleep washed over Mr. Swish like a swarm of insects. His fingers fell asleep, then his arm, then his body. He slumped to his knees. His eyelids drooped and dropped. "Whasherdoing..." he mumbled, his last moment before somnelence hit him like a sledgehammer. His body slowly, almost gently, tilred into Daphnes like a drunkard attempting a fumbling embrace with a hottie. Then, he started snoring heavily.

You know what, I think its just cool enough to sleep him. Failing that roll for him!
  17. stealth roll too please!
  18. I think an untrained Survival Roll DC 10 would suffice to know your position in the woods - which is actually quite deep in. It would take several minutes for her to get to a main road. If you are hiding, a Stealth Check I think would be called for?
  19. "Hey man, thats neat! Did you look at that?" asked the Mess to the Hangman. The Mess was about to put his hands together to clap. But, he had other uses for them. This was gonna hurt. In a streetfight, there sometimes came a moment of pivot. When you just went flat out, to finish the guy or be finished. Bloody Mess knew those moments. This was one of them. The Hangman had evaded them once. Not again. Not if he could help it. Like a bolt of lightning, he struck. Swinging his fists full arc, like sledgehammers. "Take a look at lefty..." BAM! "And right..." BAM! Everything he had went into the flurry of fists.
  20. So, the communication power is two way by default. If you have a two way communication (Radio) device - its a little odd...plausible with handwave science, but odd. Essentially this would allow you to broadcast up to 100m to any radio receiver. So far so sensible. But it would also be able to pick up signals back from that receiver even if it did not have a transmitter. So, for instance, you could send a signal to a hand held FM Radio, and somehow by science jiggery pokery, the guy listening to the FM Radio could speak back into it, and you would hear (even though FM Radios can't transmit!) In addition, having communication 2, 100m, means that you would not be able to pick up radio transmissions in the air. The alternative (my suggestion) is to build it Communication 2 (Limited one way) [1 EP] Linked with Supersenses 1 (Radio) [1 EP]. This means that you can transmit to any radio receiver, but can only listen back if they too have a communication power. In addition, you can pick up any transmission (from any distance) directed to you (or just kick back and listen to SPACE FM). Both work, but in general the latter more accurately represents "Real world" radio recievers/ transmitters. Does that make sense?
  21. Aliens? Well...this is Freedom City... It sounded unlikely anywhere else. But this city was a magnet to the strange and impossible. Aliens, though. That was, as they say, outside her comfort zone. Damn. It would take some brains to sort this one. She furrowed her brow and once again pushed her body. Activating strange and unusual parts of her DNA that had been linked to the Darwin-X Virus. Her body started to shrink, her head started to contract. It was not exactly painful, just a feeling that her whole body would pop. The end result was nearly a foot shorter. Her head had swollen to three or four times its previous size, and was bald as an egg. Her limbs were like sticks, shrunken and feeble. "Excellent! My superior intellect lives once more!" she said, smiling. "My cognitive faculties will be more than enough to solve this conundrum, pfah!" Your neural capacity and kinetics are beyond human paramaters, mistress! How can this inferior system be of use to you? Slave at least recognised a superior mind when it encountered one. You may be of utility, I shall deign to let you know when such unlikely circumstances appear! Still moving quietly, the Red Rat crouched and crept towards the nearest Warehouse entrance...
  22. Origin Vignette: Human Zoo Somewhere in the Swiss Alps, 1942 The air was bitter cold, and rations were running low. They had lost one man on the way, tumbling off rock and ice into snow far below them. What were they doing here anyway? A crazy mission for a crazy squad. And now, they were pinned down in a gunfight with what Oskar could only imagine were British Paratroopers. The German Army didn’t know what to do with a competent captain who trod a fine line between obedience and insubordination. Who questioned the horrors of the War and even the Nazi party. So they gave him command of the worst soldiers in the army, and sent him off on some pointless military exercise in the Alps. Visibility was poor, snow was falling, it was cold, it was dangerous. Gunfire came in intermittent staccato. Nobody really had the heart to shoot. Oskars hands pulled up from the soldier beneath them. He was gone. He had breathed his last. He knew it really, you don’t take a bullet like he had and live. But somehow, despite everything, he had tried to keep him alive. Because…because it was kind, even if it was futile. What they were fighting over, he didn’t know. Most likely, the British didn’t either. Surely it could not be over a useless lump of icy rock that they stood on? Perhaps it could. This was war, and war was mad. A whistling noise came over head. It almost sang. Oskar had a fraction of a section to see something above them. In the wind and the snow, one couldn’t see very far, or very well. He heard the rumble of engines, and some large, no something huge, in the sky. What was it? A Zepplin? No…bigger. Sleeker. And then the missile hit. He felt the heat, felt the force. Everything white with snow. Shrapnel and rock flying like broken glass. He felt himself falling, tumbling. There was pain, too, he was distantly aware of it. But it was as if it was happening to somebody else. Then he lost consciousness. Some time later… The face studying him as he opened his eyes was not human. Two eyes, a mouth. A sort of nose. But that was where the resemblance ended. The massive creature was hairless, like a giant worm, with four arms and rolls of scaly flesh. It seemed to be wearing an elaborate silver mouthpiece. A burble of sounds came from its mouth, incomprehensible and appropriately alien. After a tiny lag, the mouth piece spat on his words in a synthetic, tinny voice. “Ah forgive my mistake, Human. I did not know your species was sentient. I had heard tales of your Earth, and was keen to acquire a specimen of its dominant species…†Somehow, Oskar knew he was in pain, but some kind of sedative painkiller made that pain drift away, meaningless. It was almost a pleasant state of drug induced stupor. “Sentient?†he asked, weakly. “What…what are you?†he said, eyes still swimming into Focus. “My name…†said the beast, dramatically. “Is Zaul Zeno. I am a trader, of sorts. I deal in livestock. Or deadstock, if there is a price for it. People will pay excellent money for rare and unusual species. Usually alive. Sometimes dead†he smiled. It was not a pleasant smile. “You are on board the Starship Xeno. An unarmed Yacht Class A vessel, if you want the technical term. Except whilst it is unarmed, I am not†he explained, gesturing to an enormous bazooka like weapon leaning in the corner of the ship. It looked like it was built for power, rather than accuracy. “Tell me, Earthman, what were you and your Earthmen doing, killing each other?†he asked, with a sliver of politeness. It was good question, and one that Oskar asked himself many a time. “We were…soldiers…fighting a war…†Zaul gave a laugh that was spiced with a burp of amusement. “Ah..war is everywhere. Good for business, they say, but I try and avoid them†“Where are my men…†asked Zaul, growing concerned. “Dead†answered Zaul bluntly. “What? Why, you killed them you murderer!†he said, anger fuelling his voice into a rage. He tried to get out of bed, as an instinct rather than a plan. Unarmed, or even armed, Zaul was several times his size and weight and would have swatted him like a fly. On top of that, he felt slowed by the narcotics Zaul had given him. Then he felt his hand. Or rather, he realised he was missing one. His left arm ended in a stump. “What did you do to me?†he asked, fearful now. “I saved your life. In many cultures, including my own, that makes your life mine. Which is why I try to avoid anybody saving my life unless I am employing them†he answered smugly. “And it strikes me you Earthman are a man of initiative, yes? A man used to violence, a soldier?†mused the huge Alien. “I grow weary of all the physical exertion necessary for my line of work. A man such as you, now there is a man I can use for all the practicalities of my work…†“Go to Hell, beast! I am not your slave, or your soldier! And I won’t go blowing up and killing innocent people!†“Won’t you know?†laughed Zaul. Oskar felt a numbness explode from his neck. He slumped back to the medical bed, unable to move. “Don’t get up†said Zaul, with a smile. “You are most ungrateful for my saving of your life. You were close to death. Multiple fractures, burns, organ failure. Fortunately, I am an expert in medicine, of all species. I repaired you. And…I made some improvement…†Oskar merely glowed and festered. “Your spine has been equipped with a neuralysing cut out. Under my control, of course. Painless, but effective. As you can see. Your human DNA has also been, modified. Some mistakes in the evolution there, easily rectified. I do want you fighting fit, you see. Together with nerve wiring and genetic recording, you will find your new body much to your liking. Stronger, faster, better. Everything will work better than ever before…†Zaul pointed at the stump on Oskars left arm. “As for that, I have an excellent idea. A cybernetic hand. Something strong. A weapon as well as hand†he Said, tapping his chin with two hands. “And what about my Men? You killed them!†grunted Oskar. His body was paralysed, but he could still speak, although he slurred. “Ah yes, my unfortunate mistake. Do not take me for a murderer or sadist. I have no interest in causing pain or death. Only in my art and my business†he explained, almost apologetically. “I recovered three bodies. Quite dead, I am afraid. But, if it ails you so much, I can save their brains. Well, not their brains as such. No, I am afraid those are quite dead. But their minds, yes. Those I can store, on computers!†he said, quite pleased with himself. “Is such a thing possible?†replied Oskar, his fear and anger now tempered by wonder, and even excitement. “It is, it is†smiled Zaul, warming up. “And you shall have those saved minds yourself. Yes, why not! A little comradarie in battle is a good thing, yes?†Without waiting for response, Zaul continued on his musings. “I can foresee you as a great man. A hunter of the Stars, the finest in the galaxy! Thanks to my help, of course. Yes, quite a partnership! Fame and Glory await you! But…but you need a name…†Zaul Paused, drumming his fingers on his flabby chest. All of a sudden, all four hands snapped their fingers. “Yes! I have it! You shall be known as Starshot!â€
  23. Carmen breathed out another massive burst of fire in angry defiance. But it was futile. Axel was right. For every burnt and toasted demon she crisped, there where ten others popping up. Axel was fairing no better with his shotgun. "Screw it!" she shouted, almost screamed."Back to the Church!" she suggested, backing off and breathing fire with every breath. She wrenched her heart over Nikki. The demon was still a demon...but still... Never trust a demon... "Screw it!" she repeated, angry with herself this time. "Nikki, you can't win! Run!" she shouted through the flames and the beating wings. And with that, she pushed Axel back into the Church, and dived in herself. She could only hope that, like Tazel, the swarmed beast outside could not enter either.
