GM John was cold, snow on his body, shivering violently and blue skinned. His eyes blazed with determination, however. "Stop...that thing..." he said to Velocity through chattering teeth. "I can't lose the Stopwatch....I need it..." Robert was still fighting the effect of the soporific drug, his lucidity fleeting. He actually giggled a little when Velocity zoomed up to him. "Heh! that was fast, that was really fast!" he laughed, before Velocity zoomed off again. The two men, leaning on each other, one drugged, one frozen, staggered back into the Null Zone, each footstep floating them into the air for a second thanks to the low gravity. Another crack, and awful sound from the breach overhead. The Anomaly was silent, just a crunch of dimensions and space around it. Hronos fell out of the distortion, but it was only a moment before the Anomaly once again slipped through time to take the brave robot in its awful embrace once more...
-
Sure thing. And a hero point for saving Johns life all heroic like. Anomaly responding with wrapping up Hronos in another aura of damage. This time, however, it needs to make an attack roll. 1d20+20=24 is a hit, so another DC 20 Toughness roll (Defensive roll now works!) Ill post regarding that and John and Robert (who will now sort of be out of combat). Which means Hronos is up!

Mess just being a dork for a round! (see IC)
-
The bloody blob of the Mess scratched its not existent hair, bubbling up the turgid fluid that passed for his head. "Yeah..I mean no...I mean...." he bumbled, not knowing what to do. "Look, lady, whoever you are..." he started. "...we can't just let ya go, ya know? we gotsa job to do! we are investamigating, you know? we gotsta ask you some questions, and, you know, do some deducting stuff..." he said, crawling through his brain to recall some of Harry's jargon and stock phrases. "It's not right to hit a broad, I mean a dame...that ain't gentlemanlike. Buts we cant let you walks outa here. We just gotta grab you and restrain you, like in da cop shows..." he said, lamely. He was well out of his depth, and he had the sense to know it. "But no hair pulling!" he added reassuringly, giving Lucy a bloody eye.

Mind still in a panic, the Hound scuttled into the offices, head low, heart racing. He felt short of breath, sweaty with fear. Adrenaline had fired up every muscle and nerve. "I hate being punched to death" he muttered to himself, like a mantra. Seeing the phones, he was tempted to ring for help, but a crazed paranoia hit him. What if they were tapped? or booby trapped? His mind slipped away from coherent thinking. He also felt a pang of guilt about leaving his partner and Lucy behind. And...even admist the crazed fear, that sense of curiosity he could never quite crush. "What the hell is going on here?" he asked aloud, ruffling through the papers and filing cabinets in the office with frenzied speed.

Hound is going to use a full round action to search the office, looking for any important looking files or suchlike. Dont know if he needed a move action to get to the offices, if so, then I guess start the search (standard action) to complete next round. Anyway, the search roll: 1d20+13=15...well, he is rushed!

GM Meanwhile...in the Taxi... The Driver nodded when Dee replied, a small gulp and tic in his forehead when she questioned him about the convenience of the Emerald Hotel. A small sigh and relaxation when she said she had a reservation there. His voice displayed no loss of beat, however. "<You speak Russian! Welcome to Russia! I did not know you English spoke it. I am sorry about calling you American, heh? You English are much nicer. I love James Bond!>" he smiled. "<You have a reservation at the Emerald already?>" he said, ignoring her comments about being booked anyway. "<You will love it there, best rooms, best service, best food! Ah, if only I had the money to take my wife there for a few nights>" he said. He knew the way well enough. They were pulling into the Emerald as he spoke. "<And here we are! Lovely building, yes? Will you be staying long?>" he asked, a little emphasis on the last question.

GM Sergeant K sighed, looking nervous and despondent. He shuffled his feat, wiped the sweat of his brow. "<No, I have not got papers>" he said, indicating they should keep the noise level down, and doing so himself. "<I got my passport, that's it. You think America will welcome an old Russian Police Officer travelling alone with welcome arms? I don't think so. I need someone to vouch for me, get me in, give me asylum>" he explained. "<I do not know who is doing this cheat, honestly I do not. I do know that it is not your regular doping. They are using some kind of super serum, something born from the cold war, you know? Russia and America, each trying to build the perfect soldier. And this was from the time everything was spies and secrets. Half the time the government wasn't even aware of what happened in their own soil. But now some patriot, he decided to build up Russia again, not by war, but by prestige. You know the problems now? Protests, Terrorists...Russia needs to rattle the sabre, look strong...>" "<And I do not think Government knows about this. Maybe they don't look hard enough. Maybe they don't look at all. But I heard nothing from my old KGB contacts>" he explained. "<But I am still scared for my life. Old habits die hard...>"

Pitch wince with every sadistic blow to John, feeling anger rise up in her. "Simple? You underestimate me, boy" she answered, twisting the words back at the tormentor. "I don't believe in good, or evil, or heaven, or hell. What I believe in is demons. It's not that they are evil, they are wrong. They don't belong here, on this world. Nor does anything else you might conjure up from the edges of the universe" she replied. It was half right, or maybe more. She didn't have time for religion, and she sure knew nothing about demons could be boiled down to simple. Nothing could be boiled down to simple, if you looked hard enough. "Simple just means you aren't looking" she finished, as much to herself as the metal head kit. "That being said, I don't like stealing!" That was lie, given her youth of petty crime and rock n roll. But she didn't fancy the kids insinuations of what might be stolen...
-
OK I think Pitch is ready to try and shut this guy up, given the abuse he is dishing to John. Initiative time? 1d20+6=15

GM "<Ah you speak Russian!>" said I rather shocked Sergeant K, counting his blessings. This gets better and better! I struck bullseye! "<Please, lets go inside. Its warmer there...>" he said, pulling Erick inside much to annoyance of the grim faced, eagle eyed Doorman. The Emerald was indeed a good hotel. Not truly world class, but within spitting distance. The money from the new wealthy elite of Russia had infused it with a grand design and clean, luxiourous decor. The staff were all pleasant, and spoke excellent English. "<Forgive my...intrusion. This is not about a signature. I am not here as part of the police. Unfortunately, I have discovered that some of the Russian team here, they are cheating. Drugged up, full of chemicals. You have heard? maybe not. And not just the normal steroids either, something even stronger. And nobody has noticed. This is a conspiracy, I think. Someone wants to make the Russians sweep the board this Olympiad...>" His eyes darted left and right in the foyer of the Emerald. "<You understand? I need help, my life is in danger if I speak of this. I need to get to America. I will help uncover this, but my I don't give myself a snowballs chance in hell of staying alive after I do...>"

GM Meanwhile... The two men trailing Dee were left with frowns and fury as she blew them a kiss. The Cab itself was a little shabby, but heated. The driver was a friendly man, complete with old cap and new sunglasses to protect him from the glare of the Sun that lay low in a crisp clear sky. He looked older, maybe in his fifties, but lean and cleanshaven. He spoke in very broken English, presumably a function of old movies and many tourists, rather than education. "American?" he asked. "I speak English little. How was flight? Good? Coming for Olympics?" he asked, making chit chat as he pulled out of the airport. "Where to madam? You got place stay? You plenty money, eh? I see bags! I know good hotel for you, best in Soshi! The Emerald Hotel!" he grinned, enthusiastically, giving her the thumbs up.

GM At the Emerald Hotel... Sergeant K kicked his feet, scuttling left and right outside the best Hotel in Sochi. Full of Russian Mafia and rich foreigners, he knew. He gave a dirty look back every time the doorman gave him one. He saw Ericks black limo pull up, and raised his eyebrows when the youth got out. Hold up... Sergeant K was a big fan of sport. That was kind of how he had ended up in the mess he was in. He dimly recalled the youth competing in Athletics. American. Clean cut. An athlete. A perfect person to get him out of Russia. Someone with the contacts, the influence, and who would be deeply concerned about the "problem" he had come across. He stamped out his cigar, keen to make a good impression on a guy who no doubt disdained vodka and nicotine. and marched up to Erick. "Hello, um..." he paused, grim faced and desperate. "...Mister, you American, yes?" he asked in slightly broken English. Functional, but erratic. "I am the remembering you from the World Gymnastics. I big fan" he smiled. "My name Kazakov. Seargent Kazakov. Everyone callings me the Seargent K, heheh. Is wonder if I could be havings a moment of your time?" he said, flashing his badge under his lapel. "Nothing to be the worrying is. I just am having the problem, and I need someone like you to be helpings with" he said, trying to inject firmness, pleading, and friendliness into his demeanour and speech.

Could you give me a diplomacy roll? DC 15 for partial reveal, DC 20 for more.

"Silence, is it?" grumbled Rene, stumbling back a few more steps, feeling his back bump into a wall. "Well, enough! You are just denizens of the dreamlands, and won't be stopping me!" he said firmly. His body had clanged into the machetes enough times. This was, he reflected, like the archetypal horror movie. Masks, silence, machetes. He had no taste for cheap B-horror movies. No art in them. "Away with you! Away!" he commanded, throwing his hands forth in a flick and painting a gush of fire, streaming outwards, onto the landscape in his head. It was not just a mental image, for that very same stream of blazing embers gushed forth from his hand, like a dragon's breath or flamethrower, bright and orange, rich in colour, and furious in heat.

Bahaha! Enough holding back. Move Action: A Bluff roll to feint at -5, getting: 1d20+6=8...never mind that. And then a blast of fire, straight from him, line area. DC 20 Reflex for half, DC 25 (or 20) Toughness. -
Ok, so the results in order! (trumpet fanfare!) I am splitting this up a little, to say you examine various areas of the Haven and according to broad skill mix. Synapse: Notices a variety of weaponry located inside the Haven - stun guns, cannons, the like. They are all well concealed and show evidence of being used. By tracking their position, she also finds signs that they have been discharged, in the Haven, and the damage repaired. The weapons are still active. Synapse also notes that the Haven is built to be structurally extremely firm. The AI device in the centre is still on low power, but not actively "awake". Catalyst notes the medical bay is very advanced, able to to do the most complex operations, such as brain/body transplantation, or grafting. She notices that much of the equipment is booby trapped, to dissolve or fry, even explode, if used without proper authority. Osprey comes across some sealed human-sized containers, concealed under the floor panels, with activation sensors above them, which he avoids. Young Brittania notices some camera's far overhead, tracking everybodies movements. Feel free to notice each others stuff too, if you rolled higher than that PC for notice. However, I am splitting this up presuming the four PCs are looking at different areas.

1d20+15=26 A more fortunate roll! -
Also, feel free to post IC: Foreshadow has experienced his visions of Sergeant K. Wherever you want to narrate being (such as arriving at your hotel, or outside the stadium to catch the first events), he can make a DC 15 Notice roll to spot K in the crowd. As for Synapse, can she also make a DC 15 Notice roll? If she passes it, she notices two suspicious looking Russian men in shades, trench coats, etc, trying to look inconspicious but following her (wherever you would like to start narrating e.g at hotel, airport, train station, stadium, etc...)

With that, we can presume Synapse knows most details of the Olympics, like the major athletes, the timings, schedules, coaches, etc. Also, she is aware that the Russian team was under scrutiny for drug abuse, but this quickly disappeared / quashed. There was a significant hoo-ha about it, but then everything turned up clean.
