ic Earth Victoriana: The Face of Politics
Supercape replied to Supercape's topic in The Realms Beyond
GM "I'll be damned if you don't look the spit of that fellow Cannonade" mumbled one. "Y'know, from all the posters" he explained, looking genuinely concerned at Cannonade's glare. "Don't get me wrong, them posters, those Cannonites, well it's all an urban legend, ain't it. Still, you marchin' in here, bold as you like...into what's everybody know's is the meetings place of the Luddites. Well, its bold as brass, innit. Gotta hand it to you..." he said, almost offering his hand. His friend, equally grubby and impressed, took over. "You ain't a regular, that's f'sure. This here is Luddite territory, see? Not just anybody walks in here. Leastways, not if they want to walk out with the same number of teeth. We here are the Luddites, gotta take back the land for the common people, y'see?" "You looking to join?" said the first, a trace of suspicion melded with generosity and admiration for Cannonades apparent bravery.- 100 replies

GM "Why the Hell not!" smiled Tony, gesturing to the chair. "I can't say I like what you do. But I like the way you do it" he said, pouring Osprey a very generous, and very stiff drink. Gin and Tonic, he noticed. Which was to say, a large slosh of Gin and a whisper of tonic. Over some cold ice, it was a throat burner but Bullet Tony seemed to like it. "I'll even deal you in..." he said, chucking five cards Osprey's way. "Big Nelson? I can't say I like him either, but he's the Middleman's right hand man. Closest thing the octopus has got to a friend, they say. Not that anybody has even seen the Middleman. Well, Big Nelson might have" "You heard of Big Nelson? Guy must be pushing 60, used to be a fighter back in the day. Ran some black gang back in the seventies, all civil rights movements, you know? only they busted kneecaps instead of handing out leaflets. He just rode the wave, consolidated power. As the blacks got more rights, he moved into crime. Hustling into Soho. Damn near owns the joint now..." A trace of envy came into Bullet Tony's voice. "Tell you the truth, Osprey, I would love to have Big Nelson taken down a peg or two. Maybe even the whole damn ladder, you know what I'm saying?" he said.

Ah yes forgot you have that stunted, consider yourself immune to cold! Sorry about that. The other power is still active, and we have a flurry of punches! 1d20+8=11 it resolutely fails its reflex save. 1d20+10=19 It picks up another Injury and is dazed This means Boris is up again. This time, he will take a pot shot at Velocity, as he can barely target the ATU. Given he is facing a very fast target, he is shifting +2 attack, -2 DC. 1d20+15=20 is still a miss. Which means Hronos is up

The Mess unwound his hammer like fist with its lumpy fingers to reveal the strands of hair. "I gots me a clue!" he said proudly. Still green, and refusing to look down, the Hound peered into the calloused palm. "Well, it appears I have taught you something after all, my friend. Your first genuine clue! We need to frame that and put it up in the office" he said, his smile betraying genuine pride in his partners achievement. "Lets see what our differently alive friend has to say about that. And the damned perfume I keep smelling everywhere. Not my favourite one, either..." he said, as the Mess picked him up effortlessly and clambered down to Lucy. Harry clamped his eyes shut and didn't say a word on the way down.
-
Harry craned his neck and looked up at the Crane. "Up there? Are you joking? Have you seen how high it is?" he asked, a rather pointless question as Lucy clearly had. "How the hell do you think you are going to get me up there?" he asked, indignant at the thought of the peril. "I'm on it partner!" said the Mess, flexing his muscles, gathering up the shrieking Harry, and bounding away - one - two leaps over containers and then a might boom into the air, to land at the top of the Crane. "What the hell!" screamed Harry, green with fear. "That was a metaphorical question you lug!" he said, punching his partners chest with both fists completely ineffectually. The Mess just shrugged and grinned sheepishly. Still, as he was up here, he let his heart beat away full of adrenaline and terror, and opened his nostrils to any scent he could catch...

Ok So we will retain the rolls for Boris and Hronos 1d20+17=25 is the ATU initiative. Round 1 60 - Velocity - Fatigued - 2 HP 25 - ATU - Injured x2 - Concealed* 19- Boris - unharmed 14- Hronos - Injured x 2 - OP Reminders: *Whilst concealed, the presence of snow gives you a +2 Situational bonus on your "hit" chance to see concealed foes, (normally 11-20 needed) and allows targetting with ranged attacks (due to snow tracks). It is a very cold environment. This will not affect the ATU or Hronos, but Boris and Velocity will have upcoming saves. Lvov and Schobak have a third check upcoming too (at -2 for third check, -2 as they are stationary) We have some distance issues in the barren arctic landscape. Boris and Hronos are next to each other, and we shall say the ATU and Velocity are 250 feet from eachother (for ease, lets call it a triangular pattern). Velocity is up

Ok I suggest Yb and Synapse burst in on the Catalyst/Jasmine and Agents scene! Bear in mind Cruxberry has been alerted to a suspect being captured so play accordingly. And lest not dissolve into PvP / E-peens!
-
GM Meanwhile... Cruxberry pressed his receiver hard into his ear, attending to the agent's message. "Heads up! We have a possible suspect!" he said to Young Brittania, Dee, and Smith - who had presumably heard the same message but betrayed not a whisper of emotion on his resolutely stiff face. "Someone trying to make off with professor Blackpool...I don't know if you have heard of him, a damned genius biochemist, one of our top assets. You best believe we make sure he is guarded well. In the wrong hands, what he could do..." he shook his head, briefly contemplating the nightmare. "Lets go. First day on the job and you look like you belong here already!" he said to the two heroines, before waving his gun and heading them off to... The corridor outside Blackpool's office. "The whole place is on lockdown ma'am. Nobody is getting in or out. Including you" replied the Agent, not taking his eye off the woman and keeping his gun trained on her. "You can tell it all to the agents when they arrive..." he explained as Jasmine leapt forward to grab the man. ".,.and if you pull that trick again, I will fire ma'am!" said the shocked agent.

GM "Stop right there! Put the man down, and your hands up!" Government agents. Two of them. Grey suits, ties, communicators to the ear and guns to the hand. They both had that indeterminate middle age, where the body was still strong and experience had been accrued. Perhaps they were not the crack shot Jasmine was, but they knew how to fire a gun, that was for sure. And it looked like they were in no mood to hesitate. "All units. Blackpool and guest found in block C, by room 110" said the first agent, speaking into his mic without taking his eyes of Jasmine. "Put down the weapon, slowly, on the floor" he continued, directing his command to Jasmine. "And then you can tell us why you are carrying our top scientist, unconscious, on your back..." he added.

-
Ok Jasmine gets a hero point for acting heroically and saving Blackpools ass... For reference: Catalyst - 2 HP - Fatigued Synapse - 1HP - Unharmed Young Brittania - 2 HP - Umharmed We are out of combat for now.

GM "I'll get you ya little..." shouted the invisible man behind Jasmine as her legs strained to put the distance between them. "You may have saved the old man's backside this time, but I'll get him. And I'll get you, too! I never forget a face!" he shouted. The game was up. The lights flickered back into action, illuminating the entire ministry with a pale orange emergency light. As they flickered into action, sirens started up. "Gah! I'm outta here!" he yelled at Jasmine's fleeing form. "Until next time...!" His footsteps could just be heard over the sirens, as he sprinted the opposite direction. Meanwhile... Cruxberry permitted himself a small grin as the lights flickered on and the sirens burst into life. "That will do very nicely" he said, before calling into his radio. "Security, initiate a maximum lockdown. Repeat, maximum lockdown. Nobody leaves or enters. Start full sweep protocol" he said, efficiently as always. Smith's face remained stony, although his hand gripped the enormous briefcase harder and he kept his gun up.

*shift eyes back* Azuth, you wish to step back from combat?
-
Ok so we taking a pause from combat now. Hronos and Boris, swiping at each other, both notice the ATU heading back to the base. It will reach there in one round. At this point, Velocity can spring into action, either by reaching the base or following the footprints the ATU left and reaching the situation. Velocity may wish to roll initiative at this point and we will bring you all together! I think Steed is left at the cave, so she is out for now.
-
GM As Boris pulled up his rifle to fire once more, Hronos caught glimpse of a flurry of snow in the corner of his artificial eyes. It was not easy to see, by any means. In the glaring arctic light and the featureless landscape, small things could be caught by the alert. Whatever it was was travelling fast, heading back to the research base. The vaguest footprints could be seen, and the kicked up snow. But nobody could be seen. It was invisible, shielded from the human eye. Boris caught it too, his senses uncannily good. He shifted his focus from Hronos to the invisible target. "What is the that?" he asked, scanning the horizon with his rifle. "I am seeing the nothing!"
-
1d20+4=17 a feint, first off from the man. I'll be mean and give you a -2 penalty as he has the upper hand being invisible. Well its probably academic anyway, as his disarm attempt hits...1d20+10=24 So its back to opposed disarm rolls: 1d20+3=10 not so good! but throw me an opposed disarm check anyhow!
-
GM Meanwhile... "Ouch you are one hell of a..." screamed the invisible man before clamping his mouth shut. The floor resounded with a horrible clump as Blackpool appeared on the floor, deeply unconscious to all apparent effects. "I've had it with you, you little guttersnipe!" he finished, yelling at Jasmine. Through the words of anger, she could sense his words just slurring slightly. "You can give me back that, for starters, I'm done getting shot in the backside..." he complained. There was a slight shuffle, and then a sideways lunge of the man, taking Jasmine from an unexpected angle - as invisible hands made a grab for the gun he lost...

GM Boris responded with a sideways roll, easily evading the vehicle which was now upturned. He spared a quick glance back to the research facility. It wasn't too far. Getting to the cave in these conditions would stretch him, despite his Siberian training. "You may be the strong, but you are not soldier" said Boris, calmly. He picked up his gun and shot Hronos straight in the face, to a resounding crack of metal on metal. "Great Mother Russia! What are you being the made of?" he said, frankly amazed that Hronos was still standing. The bullet was pinpoint accuracy, from a high calibre rifle. Although his eyes were shocked, his bodies reflexes carried on, bolting another shot into his rifle...
-
As per chat, taking 10 for 24.
-
No cigar on the intimidate, despite your superior toughness! At this point can I have a notice check from Hronos, visual sense, DC 20, -2 penalty for range.
-
So, Boris has lost his cover, as you picked it up. Also, for being so gentle against a military man I am awarding a hero point for this fight. Hronos - Injured x2, Fatigued, 1 HP That's the good news 1d20+11=30 is a critical hit with a sniper rifle, and shifted +2 DC / -2 Attack. Which means a DC 27 Toughness save from Hronos!
-
I think Glow has them all pinned/helpless (from TK) and they are disarmed. We could step out of combat now, although Towers is still "active"
-
Ok as Kit is teleporting the concealment briefly drops, and Filth catches whiff of Kit's scent - but only briefly as I presume you will reactivate Concealment. (Filth has acute olfactory and extended olfactory senses) I am fudging this slightly - he wont know you are there, he cant pinpoint you, he is just a bit suspicious. Let me know if you want to respond otherwise Ill post away IC.
