GM There was an almighty crash as the windows caved in. "NEVER FEAR! CAPTAIN TOWER IS HERE TO SAVE THE DAY!!!" came the roar. Coby Towers was still tall, dark, and handsome. And he seemed to be as superhumanly fast as ever. But know, he was wearing what could only be described as a super suit. It was a mixture of kevlar and spandex, with two massive boots that projected out to stilts that reached all the way to the ground floor. The man was standing hundreds of feet high on artificial stilts. On his back he had five basketballs, which clicked into his hand. He threw the first into the hostages and kidnappers, and it exploded into a bright ball of light. Just before the light shone brightly, the two heroines caught sight of the man's. It appeared to emblazoned with the names of companies are organisations. Captain Towers was selling himself for advertising.

"Well I will certainly not object to luxury" said Rene. "My kness are bent and broken, my back aches, my teeth are old, my eyes are week and feeble. A helpless old man like me needs certain luxuries at his time of life" he said, transiently convincing himself of this requirement. "And I have taste for London, if you would be so kind. As for the Musical, I am sure I can tolerate the British Asassination of culture for an hour or two, purely for social requirements. Although I will need a proper glass of wine and some earplugs" he insisted. "So let us be away to soft beds and fine wine!" he concluded. "There is not a moment to lose in this race! I must find a bed at once!"

"Three hundred pounds?" wheezed the Hound, rolling on his feet. "Well either they brought in a fork lift truck or they had some super muscle behind them" he said, pointing to the twisted metal and shattered crates. "And from this perfume here, it wasn't some steroid guy high on Max" he said, kneeling down to sniff the area. "And this hair, we could certainly take a look at that" he noted, carefully using his tweezers to put it in a plastic sachet. "So, an interesting start. But the next question is, who knew about this delivery?" he asked Mr. Chen directly. "Was it common knowledge? or secret? and what security measures did you have in place?"

GM "That's the spirit, I say that's the spirit!" he said, curling his fist in encouragement. "Damn savages. Here we are, pride of the world, pioneers in engineering and science, and we have those clog-wearing, beard-sprouting, inbred maniacs demanding we go back to a world before the wheel or fire. Insanity!" he blurted. "And the cheek of it! running for government! What is the empire coming to! They are even ahead in the polls! I wont stand for it! The rotters won't have the best of me!" he said, gaining animation with every proclamation. "I got a letter through the post box only yesterday, threatening me with violence, I tell you! well, I went straight to the police. But what can they do with an anonymous threat letter other than to post an extra bobby on more doorstep?" he said, oozing frustration.- 100 replies

Lord Pennyworth frowned deeply. "I say, I say" he said leaning forward. "Do I detect a tone of impertinence young lady?" he asked, drooling slightly. He brought out a monocle and pushed it into his left eye, proceeding to a gripping frown. "I say...you are knew here, are you not? Yes..i believe you are! New staff? I don't think you will last long here with that lip, young lady. Not long at all, I say. Especially if I say..." He may have been half asleep and too partial to alcohol and drool, but he was no fool. "You aren't some damn Luddite are you?" he asked in an offended tone.- 100 replies

GM "Crab...you refer to the man known as Headcase..." for once, Mr. Smith's eyes glazed and his back stiffened. There was the faintest tightening of his jaw. He paused for the longest moment. "The psi initiative is highly classified. If that is what is required to recruit you, then you can have his research notes. Some, at least are based in the Ministry of Powers. Although you cannot take any notes, cannot remove any, and must be monitored whilst reading them. For security purposes, you understand" he said firmly. "Of course, these may not be the sum of his notes. You may have heard of the Vanguard's secret base, called the Haven. It is likely he has more research material there. Except..." He paused again. "We have been unable to enter the Haven since the Vanguard vanished. We know where it is, but it appears to have a highly advanced defence system, beyond anything we had authorised, and it has been set to kill. We have not been able to enter..." he said, almost embarresed.

"The real painting?" he said, rubbing his forehead which still hurt. "Oui, I think I would like that. But - If that Grand Master performs a ritual on that painting which does not go well, our deception will be torn from him. And he will want the real deal. And probably my head on a spike. I confess, Marianne, I prefer my head on my shoulders" he said, echoing his sentiment from the time of troubles, when keeping ones head atatched to the rest of ones body was a frequent prayer. "I just hope that if I remain ignorant of its location, so does he..." he explained. "Is it safe? is it secret?

So a few rolls looking for da clues... The Mess is going to aid Harry in Searching: 1d20+1=20 which means +3 Bonus Harry is going to do a quick Search - no time to lose given the Police challenge! 1d20+13=29 with +3 is a very respectable 32! In case it is needed Notice Rolls: 1d20+5=17 for Mess, 1d20+13=28 for the Hound (including Scent!) Ill probably take 10 on Gather Information and use well informed feat to get a 22 on that roll and see if he knows anything about the docks or the ship.
-
"The Jin Tian, huh?" asked Harry, scribbling in his notebook. He had never heard of it. "Real nice ship that. Shame someone got into her. And stole and Antique, you say? Well, I guess we had better start with the scene of the crime, huh?" he said, wandering over the gangplank. "If someone could show us to the cargo container in question, I would be mighty obliged. And whilst we go there, it would sure help if you gave us the lowdown on the antique of yours, what it is, what it looks like, that kind of thing..." he said. "And why someone would want to steal it..." he added.
-
"Mutnick!" said Harry in a false expression of joy. "I came here to do some crime solving. You know? Solving crime? Ring any bells? Never mind, you wouldn't understand..." he said dismissively. "Mr. Chen, good to see you sir!" he said cheerfully, chewing a cigar in his mouth and lighting it. "How is business? Its good we got here. I wouldn't trust the Police to get anything done this year. We are your guys! And...ah...girls..." he said indicating Revenant. "This is our lawyer, Ms. Lucy Harker" he explained, hoping he couldn't smell her differently-living status. She looked pretty normal bar her pale black and white colour - but he was inclined to think of Mr. Chen as a perceptive sort. "So, what can we do for you, Sir?" he asked him.
-
GM Mr. Smith was a stone like as ever. "You aren't our first choice. You aren't even our second. But you are on the menu. So to speak. We are well aware of your extraordinary mental abilities however. They would be an asset" he explained. "Your abilities would be highly useful in finding out what happened to the Vanguard, would they not? The MInistry of Powers is working very hard to recover from this blow. Your assistance would be appreciated" he said, dead pan. "Your psychological profile is not easy reading. However, consider your options here. With your psychic abilities we would have to monitor you very carefully, given your propensity towards anarchic and impulsive activities. What are you going to do with those gifts? One way or another, we can't escape our duty to monitor you. We would or course rather expend our resources working with you, than having to ensure your abilities are not misused" he explained, again unreadable. "Also, we are paying for the rehabilitation of your sister. And using our resources, which are significant, in trying to cure her. Worth bearing in mind..."

GM And at "the Sterling" "Wha--wha---hrumph phaa...." said Sir Earnest Pennyworth who had been resting his eyes, it seemed. "Ah yes...Ice...Jolly good idea, what what?" he said pulling himself together. He pulled down his glasses to inspect Carrie. "Are you new here, girl? I don't recognise you. And I think I know all the staff here..." he said, folding his newspaper up and carefully putting it down. He slowly reached over to offer his whiskey glass. "And another dash of this, please. Have to lubricate the old vocal cords. Got a meeting with some guttersnipe journalist later on today. I'll need to be refreshed for that meeting.." he explained, words dribbling out of his blubbered lips without any containment. After a day in politics, all restraint and diplomacy, the Sterling was a haven where one could unbuckle ones tongue.- 100 replies

COnsider him webbed! Post away!

GM "Oh yeah, sure honey" gruffed the Hound as he stuffed his keys in his pocket. "Mr. Chen. Chinese guy. Or maybe Korean or something. Me and the lump helped him out a few months back. Nearly got shot to pieces helping him, but he's a straight up guy. And most importantly...he pays up!" he said with a big grin. "Which in my book, and our account books, makes him Jesus Christ, Ghandi and the President of the United States all rolled into one!" Freddy snorted but gave Lucy a look emphasising that in his book Mr. Chen was o.k. He gave a thumbs up and a wink to her. "So lets hear his story. Apparently he needs a case cracking fast. So let's show him just how good we are!" he said with a swinging thumbs up in return.

GM Joe looked uncomfortable and even hopped from one foot to another. "Look, I understand. My mam died last year. It ain't easy saying goodbye. No, not easy at all" he said morosely, wiping away a tear. "I blame myself for her death" he said, even more uncomfortably. "You know how life is, you get mixed up in the wrong kind of people, the wrong kind of crowd" he said, angry with himself. "You folks look the decent sort, I'll just leave you be here. And get back to my desk..." he finished, silently padding his way down corridor and up to stair to the entrance office.
-
GM Outside Susan's Room "That went as expected" sighed Doctor Green. "You know I am uncomfortable, to say the least, with Government interference. Whatever clandestine authority you wield, and I do know you wield it, please respect that I am a doctor, and obliged to do my best for the patient" she said, calmly and directly to "Mr. Smith", who showed no visible emotion in response. She frowned, conflicted, and guilty, and walked off. Mr. Smith gave a flicker of a shared glance to Lord Farrington before addressing Dee. "I am also here to see you. We are well briefed" - again the flicker of a glance, which could not be suppressed, towards her father - "On the particulars of your abilities. As you may be aware, the government team known as the vanguard disappeared a few month. Our brief is to assemble a team to find them, or, if not possible, replace them..."
-
GM "Blinking heck! It's the Osprey!" gulped one, hefting his gun in his sweaty palm. For a moment, the gang paused, uncertainty and fear gripping them. "Well we will have to show him who rules the docks. How its done Deptford style..." said one more convincingly. "Yeah, I heard he ain't so tough" squarked one in an anxious voice. "That's right. Its five against one, anyhow..." said a heavy set man, thumping his club into his hand. As the tide of confidence turned, the five men launched themselves at Osprey. They were little more than street brawlers, throwing telescoped punches and kicks, and getting in the way of each other.

GM The Sewers and Subways of Freedom City were a complicated spaghetti arrangement of new built on old. Of course, the new, used systems were easily available. It took considerably more digging, from an irrate old gentleman and a partially broken flashlight to get to the old records. But they were public access, so persistence and insistence won the day. As the photocopy machine rolled off a print (for this, there was a nominal charge), Fingers phoned. "Get your skates on. Or whatever you kids do to shoot around. I just spotted one of the Filth gang headed underground..." He was eyeing a small punk, spotty and sporting a mohican, wearing a badly fitting leather jacket, slide down to the depths, with a couple of Pizza boxes in one hand and a brown paper package in the other.

Done! For this, you get a +2 Situational Bonus on Stealth Rolls whilst in that area. As well as not getting lost!

"The Pits?" repeated The Mess and the Hound simultaneously. They said it in different manners. Harry almost squeaked it in fear, and immediately loosened his tie, before realising it was loose already. He decided to tighten it and loosen it anyway. Freddy raised his eyebrows and clenched his fists. A mixture of excitement and adrenaline and a lacing of disgust. Sounds like the battering shops I used to fight in, illegal and vicious. And sometimes deadly. This really can't be good...he thought to himself, remembering the trauma he inflicted himself. He shuddered briefly. "Bring it on" he said with tombstone cool. "The faster I get to punching, the faster I get to punching someone out" he explained, with uncanny dual meaning. "Sooner the fights starts, the sooner I get to stop it..."

Its a good notice roll - enough to see what Velocity does. To add some spice to the proceedings, you see Ana and the mayors wife both putting on masks, in the sidelines of the show. It seems both have been in conversation and not paying attention to the show and assassination attempt!

Yep, Silver Spider also gets a surprise round! Take it away, Azuth (Bear in mind it is only one standard action, not a move and standard)
