"You gots a point, lady!" said Harry, smiling and tossing her a spare set of keys. "Yer about the only person in the Fens we don't rust to set fire to the place" he half joked. The pair had and had invested in some heavy duty sprinkler systems. Ok so they had gone off once from Harry's Cigars, but he reckoned it was worth it to spare them from a smoking letter bomb. "Just...well, we ain't got any coffins or the like" he said awkwardly. "I mean, that is...well, you know...." he shrugged and looked away. "We ain't found much anyways. Just that this pugilist, Benito, is in way over his head. At least if yer ask me" he explained, pouring himself a strong coffee. "Damn, I didn't get much sleep last night. Nerves frayed to hell. I'm a lover, not a fighter. That's why a keep the lug around..." he explained as the Mess dropped a heavy dumbell and lumbered over. "Have you got any more leads? or your kung fu friend?" he asked.

"Hey, wait for me!" frowned the Mess, scowling. He cracked his knuckles and followed the Crusader, with less grace but more speed. "I gotsa job to do!" he explained as he pulled up besides Crusader. "You ain'ts told me what yer beef is with these guys! Not that I'm complainin', yer understand? I made a promise, and I aim's to keep it!" he drawled. "Ahm introducing the Riverter to my two best freinds..." "Lefty!" he crunched his left fist. "And Righty!" he crunched the other. "And, er...you gots a plan or something...I ain't to smart with all that fancy stuff. Kinda just charge in..." he explained, shrugging his shoulders and scratching his head.

I'm good to wait for the reply of the family!

Pitch took a solid stance against the demon, the Cantos devil stick in her hand. "See this? This has more demon's cut into it than you can count, Piano. I've bitten into your kind before, and I'll bite again. You aren't going to take anything more tonight!" she explained, her eyes and words of solid iron. With her other hand, a smoking chain gripped and bound her fist, ready to smash into the demon. She took a step forward, slow..unsteady as she was. But what about that woman? what connection have they? if I destroy this piano, then...what of her.... She was about to throw the chain but paused, her mind twisting around what was happening here. "What have you done with that woman?" she demanded.

Pitch will Intimidate as a Move Action: 1d20+8=13 (including Favoured Enemy Feat and -5 penalty) Then, using some chains to smash into the demon. Non shifted attack: 1d20+10=12 which I am sure missed, Ill fluff that as hesitancy on her part.

Thats enough to spot the Captain's glorious confidence. Ok so the Ships explosives were incendiary grenades. Meant for OVERTHROW, but the captain has other ideas for them! The explosions themselves will cause a DC 25 Toughness save. This will apply to Crimson and Blod. With the ample cover around, a DC20 Reflex save will totally protect you from the explosions. The Captain himself gets +5 to his Reflex save as he knew the explosions were coming. Blod also gets +5 to her Reflex save, her sense motive skill alerting her to something being up. 1d20+10=27 he makes it.

"Scuttle the ship?" laughed the Captain, still on his knees but enjoying the storm on his face. "Can't you see it? Can't you see? This ship is set for hell, madam. And nothing you can do is going to stop that. Once the ocean has made up its mind, she won't let go. It's set. You can't stop it!" He raised his fist to the sky and laughed deep and hard into the rain. He sounded fairly mad - or merely inspired. Or perhaps both. "The sea and the storm have set course, that nobody can deny!" he sang in a deep voice. AT his laugh, an series of almighty explosions ripped the top and decks of the ship. Incendiary explosives. This was the cargo of the ship. "Red Sky at Night, admirals delight!" laughed the Captain as the fiery ship swept towards the Naval base of Freedom City. "Just like the fire ships of old, I take my revenge on the Navy that abandoned me!" he said, eyes glazed and reflecting the red fire of the ship.

"Why are they holding back...?" asked Carmen to herself, her companions, and nobody in particular. "They have us pinned down. We are sitting ducks...what are they doing..." she muttered. She swallowed a dry mouth and mopped a wet forehead. The adrenaline was making her feel almost giddy. The smell of the candles, for some reason, didn't help either. She edged forward, ignoring the hissed warnings of Axel, and sidled along the wall as quietly as possible, keeping cover. "You there!" she shouted at the mob - if it was a mob - outside. "What are you waiting for? the second coming?" she asked. For some reason, that wasn't entirely out of the question...

Lord Steam took a look at his cane and tossed it to one side, with apparent nonchalence. Of course, he made sure it didn't hit any of the displays. "Distraction, distraction, distraction! Why does everyone insist on distracting me!" he said, irritated with himself. He paused, and folded his arms across his chest to drum his fingers on his chin. "I dare say she has got away with it. Although the details of exactly what damage she has done elude me. Most vexing..." he said, casting his eye over the difference engine. "I confess, whilst my remarkable mind is quite the whizz with engineering, the details of your dimension's electronics and gadgets have not yet permeated my brain..." he said with further irritation. "I never did bother with all of the money and banking and transaction nonsense. I can see if my diminutive accountant can help..." he pondered.

Away! Away! Steam needs a nemesis!

Pitch caught the chair on her side. It was only her cane that kept her upright, and then, on one knee. She felt the bruised flesh down her side and arm. At least no ribs broken... I think... She stood, up, leaning on her cane and redoubling her will. Despite her limp, she was fast and strong, and new how to fight. Especially with demons. She thrust the Cantos Cane into the demon's fire. "By the Cantos name, I quench this infernal heart!" she said, solidly and calmly, as the goat's head of the blackened cane hissed some horrible Latin incantation, and sucked...sucked...eating up the Infernal power that fuelled the demon.

Harry slammed the phone down and tucked into some left over take away noodles from the night before. They were cold, but his wandering mind didn't mind. "So, our friend Benito is over is head, I bet ya" he said to the Mess and himself in equal measure. His partner was pumping iron in the gym and tucking into a steak sandwich. The occasional grunt could be heard as he pounded another ridiculously heavy weight into a curl or press. His dumbbells weighed over a hundred kilograms, but the lump of muscle could still curl them. "Clean slate, just wanted to grab some cash, I guess. That, or he is full of pride and vanity. Well, looks like we get to save his bacon, huh? Another day, another nearly dollar..." He put down his noodles as the doorbell rang, slid his feet of the desk, and wandered over to let the guests in...

1d20+10=17 which I guess is a bruise. Pitch will respond (at the end of the round) by using the Cantos Stick to Nullify all INfernal powers! 1d20+10=28 for the attack, which I guess hits. Opposed Nullify Roll: 1d20+10=24 Lets see if that saps some of its powers

GM There was no signs of similar explosions in the carnival, although to be fair, it was a carnival, and getting louder by the hour. Still, no plumes of smoke or wailing sirens could be heard. People started stumbling out of the smoke - through which it was hard to see. Most were pretty ill, coughing, fainting, or even throwing up - a rather uncomfortable aroma and sight for those already nauseated. Stumbling out came Luiza, the singer. She was now wearing a sparkling mask, dotted with what were presumably glass beads, like a Masquerade mask - although one could not help but recognise her from her hair, physique, and dress. "Viva La Revolution!" she yelled, at least trying to sing it, but with lungs choked from the gas. "We own the streets!" she attempted to shrill once more. Deep inside the gas, the police chief was unconscious, and...by the looks of it...suffering. Whatever had exploded had done so right next to him, the fumes hitting him the hardest. Through the smoke, Megan could see him shaking and convulsing...

Incidentally, does Immunity [All Infernal effects] have any value here? Anyways... Delaying Action to go after the Infernal thing! - which means said Infernal thing is up?

1D20+4 => 11 and 1D20+4 => 9 for Reflex, so deafened! 1D20+10 => 24 for toughness, so I guess bruised 1D20+10 => 14 for Fort, so I don't know what that causes! (Using Online Dice Roller as IC down)

Turning in for the night. Hound, tomorrow, is going to use Contacts and Gather Information (SM) to make a few calls and see if he can find out anything about Benito DIaz. Its an auto 22 skill check. I suppose the Mess will also do a little digging around, taking 10 for a Streetwise knowledge roll of 17 if that counts for anything! (Presuming we cut!)
-
"Oh yeah, like real secret agent guys" said the Hound, frowning. He hated those FBI guys when he was a police officer. He didn't much like them now. Some might say "Paranoid conspiracy theorist". He preferred "keep your voice down, they might be listening..." But still, Lucy was right. "I can get some of those. All sorts of spook gear being sold around the Fens. Some of it is even legal" he explained. The Mess cracked his knuckles. "I ain't liking fightin' for green" he explained "but we got a job to do, I guess. And I'm pretty good at bashing heads in. Like Freddy says, if we gotta do it, let's do it!" he said, explaining the obvious but giving a grin and a thump of one fist into one palm. "That's my boy, partner!" said the Hound, full of encouragement. "Now, we got the man to speak to about the next round. Best see him tomorrow...hell, today..." he said, noting the time. "Its Friday already. In the morning, then. I got the address. So I guess we get our beauty sleep in. Lets meet up tomorrow, at our agency. See if we cant find out a little about our man, Benito Diaz..."

So noted. Need Sense Motive from Blod.

"Hey, I should have listened to my gut..." said Pitch, taking a step back despite herself. That's not you, Tazel... "Mary had it coming, dabbling with you. But I'm not gonna let that stop me from saving her, yer piece of mahogany!" said Pitch, defiantly, at the creature. She turned half-away as if to back away, but instead swung straight back, launching a piece of blacked, barbed metal, like a javelin, at the flame. The demon might have been pure flame, but Pitch could handle that, her connection to the arcane power of the infernal forge was used to such abstractions. The black and misshapen metal missile may have passed through the creature, but it would damn well rip out the fire of the beast as it did so...

"Well, I think I got us into round 2..." said the Hound, approaching Crimson Tiger and Lucy, and clocking the martial artist who he missed in the fight. He held out his hand and offered introductions to Crimson Tiger, and for his partner, the Mess. He offered her, and Lucy, a cigar and lit up another one for himself. "Although my nerves are jangled to hell right now. Nearly got ourselves arrested for that little caper. I'd be tempted to go to the cops and explain our undercover operation, but, to be honest, a ship like this, I wouldn't be surprise if some of the dirtier cops are in on it. And that means if we go yelling, then we are busted. Can't say I like it much, gives me the jitters. But if we want to bust this, then going in deep is the only way..."

Come down sick last night and today. On top of that, I have a ferociously busy week (including next weekend) ahead. My posting will be intermittent but I will try to prioritise!
