  1. "Well that's no choice at all, is it?" retorted Carmen, angrily, as the doors slammed shut. She had every faith in Riff's pyrotechnics on the fretboard. But as for herself? she was an amateur. She had the attitude, but not the chops. Part of her felt the fury and heat coming on. Perhaps Tazel was nudging her there. She could imagine throwing a smouldering chain of barbs into the piano, smashing it to splinters, and ripping its wires. No more notes that shut doors. But she had no intention of exploding into the smoke and flames of Pitch in front of everybody. Hell, her life was complicated enough. And besides, she really didn't know what she was up against. She didn't trust Tazel as far as she could throw him. And given he was a living wisp of flame, and couldn't be held on to, much less thrown, that wasn't very far at all. "Riff...I can't play against her. It's up to you, dude..." she said, shoulders sagging.
  2. Thanks BType! As for being just under offensive caps, that's ok by me. Heads up to you however its one of those grey area's so be prepared for other refs to question this. As for the thrown thing. This seems a muddle to me. Looking at the core rule Strike power, Thrown feat: "Once you have thrown your Strike attack, you cannot use it again until you recover it. This may involve picking up a thrown weapon, or regrowing a natural weapon". This does not seem to reflect what you are looking for. I would suggest what you are looking for is an Alternate Power: Enhanced Feat (Improved Throw 6), which would add +6 to your thrown damage (although this means he could fling paperclips etc). There would be other ways of doing it, but this seems the neatest to me. The Thrown feat means you get a ranged attack for your Strike power once. In any case this probably needs looking at. As for the favoured environment, I totally get where you are coming from. However, I think the neatest thing is to drop the Favoured Environment feat. You could simulate what you describe with a higher acrobatics skills, the Feat Challenge: Fast Acrobatic Feint, or the Moving Feint feat, I guess (a high acrobatics skill would seem to be the best way to me).
  3. Looks in good shape to me. A few things to ask: 1. Could do with a few bolds under headings as per our character sheets, could you put them in to make it easier to read? 2. It looks like he is just under offensive caps: +11 Attack, +8 DC. Normally we ask for people to meet Caps on character creation. Its only -1/2 PL so we could be lenient I guess, but I imagine its pretty easy to knock up one more rank of strike or melee attack. 3. On that note, does he need thrown on his gravity gauntlet strike power? seems a little odd to me. Your call, but I always envisaged that working for knives, spears, and so on. Throwing a pair of gloves is novel, I'll give you that! its a possibly way you could knock it up to Strike 7 power if that's dropped. 4. As for Favoured Environment. Please note our house rules (you may have already). Favoured Environment does not count against PL caps. My concern here is that "Air" is too broad, as he would be doing a lot of fighting in this environment. We use a 3E version of this feat - whilst it "breaks" caps, we ensure it is pretty specific. If you tighten it down to something like "Stratospheric" or something, as in far away from the ground, it would be easier to fly (arf arf), but to be honest, might be better dropped. Up, up, and away! (And enjoy!)
  4. GM "As a matter of fact, you were..." replied Robert with a smile. "Heather Steed. You probably don't know her but she has a little notoriety around the pistes and castles of Europe. Disowned Aristocrat, but loaded with gold, thanks to a career in raiding every last tomb and burial site in the northern Hemisphere. And probably a few in the Southern too. Girl has quite a gift, I'll grant you. And she has turned a few heads.." He blushed briefly but covered well. "Anyway. She just called me. Megan...I'm sorry. I didn't want to bother you, but the little vixen called me up last week, asking me about the stopwatch. I feigned ignorance. How the hell did she know about it? anyway, it turns out she found something...something that resembled it...." "I don't want anything more to do with it, Megan. The last time, it...it nearly destroyed me. It nearly destroyed us. And, well..." "...I love you Megan. And I don't want to risk that" he said, red again, stiff but bold.
  5. The hair on the back of Carmen's neck twitched. "I've seen a few more things in my life that I really would have liked to. And that adds to the list" she whistled through puffed cheeks. What was it? a ghost? a demon? Her fingers itched for the Cantos cane she had left backstage. Her father's stick was full of power over the infernal, and would let her see through any subterfuge. Instead, her hands, with sweat, gripped her guitar. "I don't know about you Riff, but I'm too rusty on the fretboard to play crossroads for my soul with some spooky witch" she whispered. "What happens if we bow out gracefully? or even without any grace at all?" "And who is she???" she hissed at Celeste.
  6. GM A little later... ...England, Lord Robert Harrow rubbed his eyes and drank his tea. He missed Megan. Sure, they could meet up pretty much when they wanted, if not by virtue of her super speed, then by regular means. He was not a particularly busy man - a bit of academic work, a few society functions, running the estate. And he could afford to jet off to America every so often. Maybe he should move there. Maybe she should move here. Maybe, maybe... He sat on the veranda contemplating what to do. As he was sometimes prone to do, he felt a pang in his chest, an emptiness that, however fleeting, disturbed him. The Stopwatch had left its mark on his heart. As he contemplated his future, his phone rang. "Harrow? is that you?" came the voice as soon as he answered. "Steed? What the devil do you want? I told you I'm not interested..." "You may not be, but your lady friend is. She is on her way. She should be with you any sec..." Robert snapped the phone shut, irritated, awaiting the blur of motion that was Velocity.
  7. Scanning this: 1. No major problem with the atomic powered heart device, but you do need to be clear this is removable. I suppose there might be a concern about this if he constantly "wearing" the device, as its a pretty big discount you get. A battlesuit for instance would need to be put on (usually) if in his secret I.D. 2. I am a bit concerned about the Vulnerability. Firstly, its potentially lethal. It means he has to wear his heart constantly. To be honest, I am not sure how you would ever get a situation with this guy getting captured and his heart removed (which would kill him). And if its never )or only with great difficulty) going to happen, is it worth the large PP? To be honest, I think its neater to say that this is not a device, but he could be disabled as a result of someone surgically removing his power source as a complication. 3. Morph is mispriced. I make it 9 PP (12PPbase, -3 for drawback)
  8. GM Meanwhile... Ping!!! The Crystal fragment in Hronos possession, previously owned by one Mr. "John Smith", started glowing slightly, eddies of time bubbling away inside and around it. The fragment was an enigma, even to Hronos. Clearly it possessed power, but activating it and understanding it was a painstaking process. It would take years even for the smartest of minds to understand it. Of course, "John Smith" had had centuries and more. There was no telling where - or when - he had dug it up. As it seethed with power, Hronos was vaguely aware of another signal, over the ocean...North West Africa? Spain? He could not be precise, at least at this distance. And...wait...another signal. A third. Somewhere south. Far South...
  9. GM Gordon Goodman opened his eyes wide and tipped his texan duster back to a slope. "Teddy, eh? Well, him and his pack of goons turned up a few weeks ago, muscled in on mah little find. Well, they offered to do the work at half price, and double speed. Said they were experts at this here, ah say this here digging business. A half dozen of them, Ah should guess, Ah say, Ah should guess...Ah'm not a details man ya'see... " he explained, putting his hands out to frame an imaginary panoramic scene - and presumably a glittering one. "Ah'm all about the big picture!" he winked. "And Ah don't like it if the big picture involves danger to mah flesh and bones, Ah say I don't like it!" he said, slamming his fist on his leather desk. "So whay don't you and your pretty little missy here tell me what the hell is goin' awn???"
  10. "You, my friend, are going to tell me all about whatever infernal deal you made. I don't know why anyone would want Archeron dead, but I aim to find out. And make them pay for it. And they will pay..." She ignored the complications of exactly how she was going to prove that a man was murdered by infernal pact. It was unlikely to go down well in courts. Then Damn the courts, this time... This was MURDER... "Justice will be done" she said, picking up the Cantos Stick and turning to the Demon. She would not underestimate it - but she knew she held the upper hand right now. "So tell, me, who was it?" she asked in a firm and menacing voice.
  11. Ok, so Pitch will pause a moment and retrieve her cane, threatening the demon as she does so (Not making an intimidate roll, as its fanatic, just fluff!)
  12. Rene snapped his fingers. "Hartfoul!" he said aloud. It was clear that Parsinkles reign - a multifaceted realm, but not one he would weep for passing - was at an end. The plot was broken and spent. But Hartfoul, he judged, would harbour resentment. Of the two, Hartfoul seemed full of bile and blackness, whereas Parsinkle was merely full of grandeur. "Marceau! What of Hartfoul? I would not want him escaping justice - even if it is of a cruel sort - for he is more cruel still, and will no doubt plot revenge, of most bitter flavour....at us, or possibly the mortal world..." "I do not wish to tarry in this seductive and won'drous realm, but the thought of him amok is chilling!"
  13. What's the Matter Tazel, cat got your tongue? asked Pitch, although she was not inclined to hear the full curse. Some things, she conceded, where best left unknown. "There is plenty more where that came from!" she said to the Demon, as a spear of blackened metal, irregular but heavy formed in her right hand. With her left, she kept a firm grip on the chain that bound the Demon. The creature was very strong, she realised. She did not think she could hold its body or spirit for long. And it was too dangerous to risk being left alive. She pulled herself to the demon, and then, with a belch of smoke, from her hand, threw the metal at the hated creature. "This is for Archeron!"
  14. With the cane? Damn! Ok lets see what Pitch can do. She will keep hold of the chain tether, and throw a spear of metal at the demon. Its bound and helpless but gets +4 cover defence. So she will shift +2Att/-2 Def and +2DC/-2 Att for a total of +0 Att, +2 DC, and -2 Defence this round. 1d20+10=16 for attack roll. -4 for for cover, but then it is flat footed and helpless so I hope that hits. If it does, a DC 27 Toughness roll. Move Action - move up to the Beast.
  15. Quick scan: 1. Supersense Mental Awareness. If this is some kind of mental "spatial awareness" then the cost is a little more. 1 PP for the sense, 2PP for accurate, 1 PP for acute, 1 PP for ranged, making 5 PP. And probably 1 PP for radius for 6PP. You will probably need acute on this if you want to differentiate one object from another. Alternatively, if it is a "detect minds" kind of thing, it costs more - as above, plus 3 PP (as per house rules) for a detect power with common frequency. 2. Comprehend 2 costs 4 PP, no? 3. Would a telekenetic force field / telekenesis be subtle? and as it stands the telekenesis is ranged range, rother than perception (good idea though to have them as AP!) 4. Psychic Power array: Mind Switch is something that is potentially problematic, as it opens up the possibility of horribly powered amalgamations of mental and physical power. Sustained duration certainly mitigates. I just flag it up as something that is a controversial power in PCs. Telepathy is actually two linked powers, so the extra would have to apply to each (increasing the cost of each), one or the other. As it stands, you have costed it as +1, so it would apply to either the communication or mind reading component. I cant recall the Mental Duplication power of the top of my head so cant comment (as long as its not a VP...!) NB: Synapse
  16. Which means Crimson Tiger is up!
  17. Wowzers! Ok so a straight snare attack. As fatigued, its -1 to strength and defence 1d20+9=21 which is still a hit, so DC20 Reflex Save to avoid being bound in chains!
  18. Carmen stood shocked for a moment. For all her dealings with the horrors of demons, she was more used to them being tricky, devious and wicked as opposed to outright brutal, although she was fully aware that they had that trait on the menu. "But what is this?" she wailed "a contract to murder? who is bade you kill this man? tell me! tell me now!" she demanded. "Whoever he is, I shall make him pay for this! the deed may have come from your wicked hands, but the blood is on his his!" she yelled. She made a fist, and formed a whip like length of chain, that she hurled at the horrible beast, intent on breaking its will and body both. "Billy! Get back! I won#t have your death too!" she screamed.
  19. 1d20+11=29 for Devil Ray, a particularly good roll Post away IC. And then Crimson Tiger is up!
  20. As per Chat: 1d20+5=13 for Arcane Knowledge 1d20+6=9 for Sense Motive
  21. Its actually a a metal attack (Variable Descriptor power fire/metal)?
  22. Both are. I would say the first would be an opposed check your water control vs his strength, Also if he is stunned you will fall, but I would give you +5 bonus to the toughness check in terms of "At the lastmoment control the water"
  23. "Take this, its got bullets in it..." said Carmen, tossing the gun to her feet for Billy. Tazel, fire me up! I command you! This has gone on long enough! I'm not letting Acheron's head get cut off by some demon, no matter what's going on here...and certainly not because I am holding back.... Her secrets be damned, nobody was going to die today if she could stop it. Her eyes flamed and her body was wrapped in smoke, leathers and silk. "I'm not just any human, you fool!" she shouted at the Demon. "I have your kind bound to my service!!!!" With that, she flung back her arms, and with all her might unleashed a crushing mass of blackened, smoking metal, all spikes and flanges, symetrical, spinning, and beautiful, at the Demon holding the sword.
  24. Right, no time to fiddle about with a gun anymore. Its only Billy who is conscious anyway. Move Action: Fire up Alternative Form / Tazel. Standard Action: Blast The Demon A with Extra Effort to add +2 Ranks (and hence fatiguing myself). 1d20+10=26 I presume is a hit, and its a DC 27 Toughness Save (and it has two yummy bruises and staggered!)
