  2. GM Anders backed of, just slightly, and involuntarily. "Please, be calm" he said, a slight uneveness to his voice creeping in. "This appearance is not my own. It is just for convenience sake. I was the man impersonating Mr. Ekland. Mr. Ekland himself is under heavy sedation for the moment. He will not be harmed, and we will implant suitable memories once this issue is over with" he explained. He gestured towards the old man sitting by the desk. "Mr. Harrow will explain..." Indeed it was him. Robert Harrow, now an old man, but with the unmistakable looks of the English Lord. "Even by my, rather arbitrary perspective, it has been a long time, Megan..." he said, a voice characterised by steely control. "I can't explain anything. It is indeed debatable whether I should explain anything. But you deserve some truth, even if I must curtail it, or even bend it" he said, staring at her with clear eyes. "I am from the future. Where you and I were married. Where a certain stopwatch gave me some exceptional insights. For instance, I know you are Velocity. Together, we fought crime. So long ago now. Together, we had a child..." "Bear in mind this is not your future. Or may not be. It is only one of a near infinite number of paths that thread out before you. But it a dangerous one. Our child was, to put in straightforward terms, mad. His powers, cosmic, even by the standards of the godlike heroes that walked the earth in our day. He nearly wrecked our reality. He was called Collapse. And yes, time and space did just that around him..." He frowned, unsettled by the recounting. "Collapse must never be born. Do you understand? We must never be together. The stopwatch...must be stopped. That device has brought the two of us together. It is designed to do that. It's power cannot be controlled, at least not fully..."
  3. Rene pondered the question. He sensed a trap, but he also sensed he loved it. Try as he might, he could not help but get spun into the web of wordplay here. I'm beginning to like it too much here... "One wish? but wishes lead to folly more than fortune, lady Tasselfoot" he smiled. "Perhaps I would wish it for your Master" he concluded. "I would wish he could see what needs to be seen, rather than what he wants to see. A terrible thing to wish for, but it would serve well. If he could see the life of an oppressed, then what would he do?" "This would be his chance. To live as a servant for one day. He will then reveal himself as a blind but innocent fool, ignorant of his effect, or as a tyrant, uncaring of his actions!"
  4. GM The night was deep and black. Dawn would not be long, but the sun would not break soon. A stillness was all that greeted them on the ground floor. The vampire was crumbling away with every jolt or movement. His eyes blinked once, twice, grey and more deathly than the normal. He seemed more ash than flesh. "The master....betrayed me...." was all he could croak through black and charred lips. "I..am...gone..." he realised, as he started to fall apart in front of Revenants eyes...
  5. That sounds good! you can do it!
  6. "That is a shame" replied Rene. He doubted they could wait, and he did not wish to expose his ward or the Father to any musketfire. The guards were simply doing there job. They were well trained, he guessed. He could probably dazzle them with some arcane power, but not with ease. And he had no wish to reveal to the world what he had learned. "It appears then, we must be on our way. I bid you good day, Sir!" he said, doffing his beret and moving on with his two companions. Out of site he stopped them. "I cannot abide delay, for the delay indicates a need for it, and a need for delay is worrisome. It tells me that we must act without undue delay!" He brought out his paintbrush and winked at the two. "What we need is a distraction!" he whispered, as he wove his wand in the air... ...around the Corner, the three figures walked. Not the real Henri, Marianne, and Rene, but silent and perfect images of the three. They walked right up to the guards, before giving an obscene gesture with their hands...
  7. GM Backstage... Molly seethed at Agnes' barbed words. "Honey, you better watch your step. I give a word in Handsome Jack's ear and something misunfortunate might happen to you, like it happened to your lover. You are the kiss of death, sweetheart, just good for sad songs and strong liquor. In fact, I better go warn that Frenchie about you..." she huffed, stung to the core. She theatrically turned, her dress whistling upwards and at Anges in a practised fashion, before storming out of the dressing room to... Just outside the backstage... Molly whisked away to just behind Roi's ear. "Hi there handsome" she purred, giving a look to the Hatchet and Croak. "Don't you mind these two boys" she said, giving a dainty palm around Roi's shoulder. "Ill give them a kiss and, well, maybe something more, and they will do as they are asked" she said giving a wink to the twosome. Croak responded with a blush and hint of anger, and the Hatchet responded with a cruel smile and curious gaze. "And Handsome Jack, well, he'll gladly see a man of initiative like yourself. Perhaps he'll even give you a job. If I put in a good word. Would you like me to put in a good word, sugar? Perhaps you could put a little flutter in my heart and on my lips..."

  9. NPC Harry sat back, sinking into the chair and holding his head in one hand. "Well, that's very helpful" he lied, the words almost whistling through his teeth as he tried his best to be positive. So she can handle herself and has a teen-buddy. Well, I guess, in a curious way, that's reassuring. Given we got shot at just for asking about her, I wouldn't want her to catch a bullet. He slowly pulled back the picture and stuffed it in his mac. "Very kind of you to see us Sir. If you hear anything, or indeed need our services, our card" he finished, sliding a crips card of the Bloodhound Detective Agency his way. After all, it never hurt to put in a bit of advertising. "C'mon Freddy, lets get back to the barn..."
  10. Still deciding on a new PC folks, so I post this up for thoughts. I would like to crack playing a female PC, although I know I am terrible at it - so this is done with caution. Perhaps below could be male, I don't know. Ill do crunch in a bit, Fluff more important. Main Pro's: Plenty of juicy complications and story engines. Main Con's: Always a bit complex when it comes to Religious. Needs extensive fudging to make sure no offence and avoid cannon. Player Name: Supercape Character Name: TBA Power Level: (10) (180/180P) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Daughter to a famous Black Magician and Hells Angel, with the power to bind the infernal. Alternate Identity: Identity: Carmen Chevalier Birthplace: TBA Occupation: Rock Music Journalist Affiliations: Hells Angels / Biker Clubs? Rock Music Magazine? Family: None? Description: Age: about 25? (DoB: Year [Optionally, Day & Month]) Apparent Age: About 25? Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5’6†Weight: 55Kgs Eyes: Green Hair: Dark Blonde Looks like a scruffy but sexy rock musician / biker. Wears heavy motorcycle boots and walks with a pronounced limp. Power Descriptions: When she activates Tazel, the demon watchdog her father set to her, her eyes turn red and her breath has a sulphurous smoke. Using her “Infernal Forge Powerâ€, she is accompanied by more fire and smoke (usually around her hands). Her hellfire blasts – whether burning the body or the soul (the emotion control ones) are of a green-red sickly colour and are not real fire. History: Carmen’s father, Carlos Chevalier, was a practicing occultist in a biker gang. He was not reknowned for being a good guy, but neither was he a particularly bad one. He did, however, possess an uncanny knack for black magic – in particularly dealing with demons. His luck and cunning held out for many years, until it eventually ran out when he fell in love and had a child. As the Feds burst in through his door, propelled by some infernal creatures who had come to collect on him, he took his baby daughter and tattooed his most powerful signs down her spine. This hasty and reckless action damaged his daughter – leaving her disabled, but no demon or angel could touch her. The creatures he had bound took him and his wife, but could not lay a hand in revenge against his babe. Carmen grew up an orphan, and not in the best of company. She was fostered, and didn’t have a bad life, but struggled with it. She fell in with bad boys, and bad crowds, and given the fame of her father it was not long before she was hanging out with bikers, rock stars, and tattoo artists. As she became – or rather fell – into becoming a rock music journalist – she started to peel back the history of her father. And with it, she found his fabled cane, the devil stick. And with it, the demon Tazel, a 2’ high creature of fire that had been permanently bound into service by Carlos. It seemed that Carlos, ever the trickster, had left a back door to get out of whatever strife he was in. His daughter, immune to any infernal power, would be even stronger than him… Personality & Motivation: Carmen is a wild child, and has an inability to settle. She is quite “passionateâ€, in good and bad ways, able to love and hate quickly. Perhaps her most striking feature is loyalty – if somebody helps her or is her friend, she will always come to their aide. She has an anarchic streak – and has broken the law on numerous occasions with petty offences. So why be a hero? Carmen, although driven to free her father, is deeply angry at him. His legacy is a disability from her spinal tattoos, an undesirable upbringing, her mother’s death, and a whole heap of legacy problems with demons. She wants to be everything her father was not. She wants to be a hero. A good guy. Powers & Tactics: Carmen’s main problem is mobility. Her only way of travelling fast is to “Flame walkâ€, jump into fire and come out the other end, and her disability makes travelling otherwise even more difficult. Whilst she is somewhat impulsive and passionate, she bears this in mind whilst fighting. Complications: Disability: Carmen walks with a noticible limp. This makes things like acrobatics and so on very hard or impossible for her, and she cannot run far. She would not be able to operate normal vehicles, and is easy to unbalance. Should she be without a cane or her callipers for her right lower leg, she would be very unsteady, unable to run. Pain and Addiction: The nerve damage her father caused has left her with intermittent neurological pains. This can make her tired and irritable, and misuse things like painkillers or sleeping pills or alcohol. Twisted Tounges: Tazel, her pet demon, whilst technically fanatical (and who must obey her) actually hates her and would do anything to get her into trouble. He is bound to tell the truth, but of course he may tell it selectively or get her into all sorts of trouble by doing so, using deceit and manipulation. Given he is the source of her comprehend power, that would be one way of doing so (giving interpretations that are correct but misleading). Enemies: Demons, and perhaps even given her fathers fame, some mundane groups like rival biker gangs. Kiss Kiss Bye Bye: Her main magic powers (taught by Tazel) are based on passions like anger and fury, emotions she can easily summon up. But if she is kissed (by anybody, anywhere), she loses this power until she can expose herself to a flame. Rolling Stone: Whilst she generally has a reasonable amount of money from her work, she has no permanent abode, and her resources and money do fluctuate. She can’t settle. No Exorcisms Please: Her pet demon (who normally lives in her belly) cannot abide holy grounds, or religious artifacts placed on Carmen. In such cases, he will be forcibly ejected from her. [Crunch to come]
  11. Professor Quill strolled the Library, trying to find the latest publication of Journal of Observer Entanglement which he always tried to catch. That backstabbing Liebniz had wangled another article in there, and the word was, to his irritation, it was rather good. Kids today he sighed as he spotted Nicki and her outrageous attire. He walked up to her and peeped over her shoulder. "Very nice to see such a love of print in students today" he said softly and laced with approval as he gazed at her boots. "Very...ah...conservative...of you..." he said "...relatively speaking..." he bumbled.

  14. GM Megan awoke in an almost featureless white room. She could barely see where the walls and ceiling began and ended. A soft light filled the room. A bookcase, antique and filled with tomes she recognised, swam into view. Then the soft leather couch she was lying on. Then an oak desk, and leather chair, the man, an old man, sitting on it, maybe seventy or eighty, bald, weathered but healthy, and somewhat familiar... And Anders, the same Anders, standing by her aside. "Welcome to base time..." said Anders. "Please try and relax. The null beam has only minor side effects. You may experience a mild headache but we have taken the liberty of administering a minor sedative and painkiller..." he explained, slowly and as friendly as he could.
  15. GM Doctor Lind paused and considered the offer for a moment, pondering what to do. She seemed to weigh up the advantages. "Thank you. I'll take up that offer if you don't mind. Our helicopter is good, but I am sure a man of your resources can get us there quicker!" she smiled. "My only hesitation is that our equipment is loaded up in our helicopter. I suggest I go north with you, but our equipment follows behind. It should not be so delayed, at most an hour. In the mean time you can let me in and perhaps help me whilst we wait for the equipment. To be honest, I would not be surprised if your equipment there is better than ours anyway, but I suppose I would have to sign off my inspection with government approved devices...." she sighed. The ways of the Beurocrat, for all her official presentation were not natural to her. Meanwhile... The two figures behind Megan flashed into visibility. There were dressed all in grey, wearing close fitting helmets with close fitting visors and holding bland guns. "Ill take her to base-time" said the first, as he placed a small flashing disc on Megan, and, after a pregnant pause and shimmering, disappeared from view...
  16. NPC The Hound sighed. He had to admit that his Partner's blunt style of asking questions did cut to the meat of the problem quickly, but sometimes one needed a scalpel rather than a pickaxe. "Well it's a little more complicate than that, Sir" he explained delicately, and shoving the now slightly creased photograph of their quarry to Don. "We have been hired to track down this woman. She has gone missing, and her father is very worried about her..." He felt a pang of guilt inside. Something told him this girl was in trouble, but he was beginning to wonder just why her father was so keen to have her back, and just why she was so keen to run away. "We heard that she caused a bit of commotion here recently, seemed she can control water, or do kung fu, or probably both. Kicked some thugs ass here. Which I suppose might be the reason she is in trouble. Some kind of superhero to be I guess. Which is a dangerous life..." He shrugged, with hope and concern on his face. "We were wondering if you could fill us in..."
  17. "My eyes fail me my friend! Curse these old bones!" he moaned, squinting at the picture with more than his eyes. "It...it is impossible to say, I regret!" he lamented, reaching out to touch the picture with his fingertips. For all his ability to paint the arcane onto reality, he found it hard or impossible to seperate the mundane from the arcane himself. It was, he told himself, his painters soul. Reality was, well not that real to him. And magic was, well, all too real. The two were not separate. "I am afraid, much as it hurts my soul, the only way to find out is to..." he gulped in anguish, hurt at the thought of any art being harmed. "No, I cannot bear to think of it!" he refuted himself, swiping a fist in vexation and denial.
  18. GM The poor vampire was still smouldering when Revenant pulled him up. By the time they both ejected themselves out into the corridor, both of them were smouldering, and in several patches, frankly alight. It took a bit of frantic patting to shut down the flames. The poor vampire could just about croak, no more. His ashen and burnt body could barely crawl - almost falling apart with every movement. "Why...did...you...save....me....." he asked in complete bewilderment. "I...need...the....blood....the....doctor....he....is....still....potent...." he whispered, his eyes blackened and charred. The elevator in front of them was broken by the tumbling door. A shaft, distorted and bent by the force of the steel door winded thrirty feet upwards to the ground floor - the entrance to the High Steaks.
  19. 1d20+5=19 for disguise roll if its needed (whatever attire he eventually dons!)
  20. Supercape couldn't help but smirk at the two. "Look, gentlemen. Time is, as they say, of the essence. I am normally a perfectly decent upright citizen who upholds the law. But at the end of the day, the law is there to protect the citizens. And that protection must come first!" His cape and costume flowed and sparkled, in the blink of an eye turning into a casual hippy costume - jeans, tank top, scruffy denim waistcoat, and vaguely repulsive headband. "I am afraid I don't know the culture of the Seventh Chakra. But if it is anything to do with the hippy culture of indian mythology that permeated my days at university, this should not be too far off the mark?" he asked, looking like a slightly burnt out middle aged hippy. "Or would you care to instruct me with more precision as to the attire I should don?"
  21. Right, that will explode into a fight between the Dockers and the Thugs! I'm not going to bother with a twenty strong minion fight / brawl - Ill fudge some effects - but the first question to you, Thunder is what will Mali do when the charge happens? And could you post your IC effort at diplomacy?
  22. Hmmm, I'll say with her
  23. Velocity - Asleep - 3 HP Fenris - Unharmed - 1 HP
  24. Youchies! Two invisible assailants are assaulting Megan, and have her flat footed and suprised (-2 defence penalty) 1d20+6=24, 1d20+6=14 I think thats two hits. The effect is a Stun 6 one, DC 16 Fort Save x2. We then move into round 1. No real point rolling initiative as Megan will auto win with her bonus. EDIT: You are of course free to fail this roll and earn an HP, falling asleep from the beams!
  25. "Positive contact" said Anders, in a bland voice. His features seemed to drain to a quiet professionalism. "I'm sorry ma'am...we need to take you in..." he said, nodding to something just behind her. He did appear generally apologetic beneath his calm, cool and impassive mask. Sympathetic was perhaps to strong a word for it, but apologetic, he was. The air behind Megan flickered slightly, a distortion caused by energy. On closer examination, two blurred distortions creating near perfect invisibility. Two beams of strobing light scythed through the air from behind Megan, a faint whiff of ozone hitting the atmosphere as they did so...
