  1. GM "I understand completely, Mr Katastov" replied Doctor Lind, nodding in agreement. "The inspection is for, and is legally bound to, the purposes of public safety alone. My observation is limited to ensuring that there is no threat" she explained, with sincerity and a trace of irritation. "I can of course seek further powers with a court injunction should there be obstruction in the course of my duties, but seeing as you have have been understanding, that isn't going to be a problem is it?" she said, a smile and a question and a reaffirmation of her authority. "Rest assured I wont be prying into your data banks or your patent offices. All we have are some strange energy readings - gravitic, magnetic, cosmic. Tiny in themselves, but put together, they are could potentially mean some disturbance in, well, I imagine you understand theoretical physics better than I do..." she conceded. "I have a helicopter waiting, if you would care for the journey? otherwise I just need you to make the arrangements for my visit. I have some equipment with me - which you may vet of course. Just straightforward, if somewhat expensive, sensors, that sort of thing..." Meanwhile, in the conference room... "Megan Howell?" echoed Anders Ekland, almost blowing the words around his mouth to ensure they were real. "Pardon my intrusion, ma'am, but do you know a Mister Robert Harrow?"
  2. As above- strange readings on site (as expected) but they are very surprised anybody else could pick up on anything. It's esoteric and localised emissions only, as far as they are concerned.
  3. I can assure you it is! Whilst I am not familiar with Swedish law (although I am very familiar with Sweden) I am familiarly with European law and research facilities. When it comes to biohazards, toxic wastes or energy production, yeah, private counts for squat. You can, as I say, delay it, it just means a court order. These are just formalities. That doesn't mean they can poke around to there hearts content and grab data etc. it does mean they can reassure themselves the site is safe for the public. In any case I don't think this is fruitful to debate further. Bottom line: If you find this unacceptable, I can revise. I don't wish to intrude on your canon!
  4. also, the lab has some very odd readings from the stopwatch, but are surprised to hear it has been picked up outside the facility!
  5. The civics roll is pertinent. The document she is presenting is legal but generic, with the institutes name just rubber stamped. It is, in effect, little more than a high powered health and safety document. If Magnus wished, he could quote legal jargon to stop her. Although in his judgement it would only delay matters. She could almost certainly get a court order to go through his facility with a toothpick in twenty four hours...unless he pulled out every legal trick and favour he had. It really depends how much he wants to annoy the government of Sweden. As it is they would value him, but it is not a country renowned for granting particular privileges to the wealthy and powerful. In terms of what he could do, given his skills influence and contacts, he could let her in with a very much "observe only" status, delay her for 24 hours when she would come back with a "ill see whatever I want and ask whatever I want" status court order, or fight it tooth and nail...not necessarily personally...and get bad press / annoy lots of people. How does that sound?
  6. take it away!
  7. It is indeed shady. As for the meeting, I am happy for whoever you deem appropriate to be in the conference room with Megan and Anders. Just indicate who in broad or specific terms.
  8. "Hey, this place is cool!" said the Mess, excitedly. "My Pop's used to take me here when I was young. Its even better now! Look! A Sharkinarium!" he said, a bucket of coke in one hand and a pointed finger full of distracted enthusiasm in the other. "Yeah yeah" waved the Hound "all very neat and everything. Personally, if God had wanted us to swim, he would have given us flippers. Me? I prefer my feet on solid ground! and anyway, don't forget we are here to work, even if we did pay the entrance fee to get in..." "No problems, no problems" replied the Mess, a little disappointed. He shrugged half heartedly and stuffed the guide in his back trouser pocket. The Mess cracked his knuckles and confidently marched towards a nearby security guard. "Hi there. Can you help us? We are trying to track down a girl who was here a while ago? She is missing and its really important we find her. Who should we talk to here?"
  9. Could I have a Sense Motive Roll from Megan, DC 20?
  10. GM "<Certainly Sir>" nodded Ekland, trotting off to meet the Inspector who was waiting in the foyet. Her name was Dr Ulrika Lind, a skilled physicist and government advisor. Magnus had met her on one or two occasions - a women in her fifties, with grey hair and piercing eyes, a voice mellow but firm. She was a little overweight but still had a distinctly handsome face. It was only a few minutes before she stood up to shake Magnus' hand. "Pleased to meet you again, Mr. Katastrov" she said, meeting his eyes carefully and shaking his hand with the correct pressure. "I am sorry to bother you, but we our interior security department has detected some anomalous readings in your facility to the North. I must ask you to allow me to inspect the premises" she began, handing him an appropriate sheaf of legal papers that detailed exactly the extent of her inspection. They were, of course, not specific to the Katastrov facilities, but detailed her legal powers to inspect any high energy readings in the country. Meanwhile. back at the Conference room... Anders Ekland returned to find Megan in the conference room. "I am very sorry for the interruption, Madam" he said in perfect English. "We appear to have an inspection by the ministry of energy. Not totally unusual, of course" he said, as diplomatically as he could. He stared at her rather intently for a moment. "May I confirm your name, madam?" he asked.
  11. Revenant - 2 HP! The Injuries will clean up as soon as she is by the elevator thanks to her regeneration. So climbing whilst carrying the vampire will be a -5 Penalty, so DC 20. She has a +12 bonus so its fairly safe, failure by 5 means a fall which will probably kill the vampire as he is already disabled.
  12. 1d20+6=16 I think puts them at neutral?
  13. In which case we should probably have some initiative rolls for Devil Ray, Blod, and Tsunami, although Blod will not be aware of the underwater action for now. 1d20+1=13 for Devil Ray There is a question about whether Tsunami could surprise Devil Ray, but given his super senses (a Radius Sonar, Darkvision etc) and being underwater I think that is unlikely unless she can think of a good way to do so in the ocean! EDIT: Also feel free to make a Knowledge (Current Events) Skill roll for how much you might now about Devil Ray. +4 for Eidectic Memory. DC 10: An underwater villain! DC 15: Uses a power armour, member of the Crime Sindicate. DC 20 (Trained only): Known to hire himself out as a pirate, smuggler, etc to the highest bidder. Full of greed. (Largely for fluff, and feel free to flesh out accordingly!)
  14. "I am sure I can rustle up something for our colourful friend here!" smiled Lord Steam. "Excellent party trick, by the way, that costume thing. Done with mirrors and spring's, I shouldn't wonder!" he commented, as he rang a bell for Blakely. "Ah their you are, Blakely" he said as the man arrived a mere second or two after the bell had been rung. "We need some decent clothes for our friend here. And time is of the essence. Make sure Singh has Bessie fired up, and get some appropriate formal wear for Mr. Heraldo here. Some of Boltski's clothes, perhaps - a similar build if my eye does not deceive me. Not perfect, but needs must. As long as he has a good tie and a top hat, that should suffice!" He sprang to his feet. "Not a moment to lose, we must save the diamond!"
  15. Ok, I think stunting wall climb off super strength is probably pushing the realms of stunts myself. On the other hand, the description of what you are actually doing is worth a +2 situational bonus of climb roll. The elevator shaft is in no immediate danger of being drowned in fire (you probably dont wont to hang around for ever of course!) and the damage to the shaft makes for a few nice distortions and the like. So the DC to climb it is 15 i.e. pretty easy for Revenant. In other words, with a +12 climb bonus you arent going to fall. At worst, you will be a little slow. As far as the flames and rescuing the minion goes. Well, its worth an HP, but it is dangerous: the inferno is now a damage 7 effect, and then a damage 8 effect. Going in, picking him up is 1 round, and another move action to exit (so you could do it in 2 rounds, or 1 round with a surge). Bear in mind her vulnerability to fire. She has 4 Hp at the moment without the extra one.
  16. A notice check seems appropriate as Devil Ray approaches. Lets fluff this slightly: DC 20 Notice him 100 feet away. DC 10 Notice him at the propellers. I dont think Tsunami could realistically hear the Captain. However, Blod could - not easy so lets call it a DC 20 Notice hearing check, -4 penalty for range.
  17. Rene sighed deeply. The two men were not going to be easy, that was for sure. "I come with the good Father Henri, sir. A man of God..." he gave the Priest a meaningful look, hoping the man would hold nerve and play along. "We come on a spiritual matter, sir. The poor church here is in a most unfortunate state, and in need of repair. We would talk with the lord of the manor, to discuss aid. I bid you sir, please let us pass, and do the Lords work!" He bowed deeply, without taking his eyes off the soldiers, and giving them a friendly smile. Even if they don't swallow it, their reaction will be most interesting. I doubt the conspiracy here is what one would term Christian in spirit. How might they waver in conviction?
  18. "Knives sounds like he is in over his head, to be honest" replied Supercape, as he let the pieces fall together. He made a deal he shouldn't have... "But lucky for him, I am the kind of guy that prefers to sort these kind of screw ups out, rather than let them fester. Look, I know you guys aren't treading on exactly the right side of the law. Maybe on another day I would have a problem with that. But right now I am more concerned about keeping this planet, and this galaxy safe. So I'm not going to preach sanctimonious on you..." His cape fluttered as he gathered his strength. "I'm going to save Knives, and I'm going to stop Azel. I'd like your help, but if you want to walk, do so. As long as you don't stop me..."
  19. Yep
  20. "Well I certainly like a challenge" answered Lord Steam, putting down his tea. "Blast it to hell and back! I won't let that snide laugh of her's get the better of me! She wont be stealing that diamond tonight, or any night!" he said, galvanised into action. He sprung up, pressing his hands to his forehead. "She is ingenious, I'll give her that!" he conceded. "Now, how would she approach this? Force isn't her style, I think, despite the little pyrotechnic show we just saw. No, no, she wants to humiliate me. And that takes a subtle knife. She will do it by stealth and trickery, that's for sure. Probably replace the real diamond with a fake, have us standing around guarding a piece of plastic half the night. What's her plan? What's her plan? An invisibility field? A teleporter? No..no...she want's to do this with trickery I imagine..." He stopped and looked at Heraldo and Blod. "What are you doing just standing there! Lets go! Lets go! To Bessie!" he shouted, wheeling them off to his car and the faithful Singh.
  21. THings are about to happen! Could I have, in advance, two notice rolls from the each of you. DC 25.
  22. GM An aide came in, calm and collected but politely concerned. His name was Anders Ekland, an efficient man of classic nordic looks in his early forties - as the efficient memory of Magnus recalled. He spoke to Magnus in Swedish, probably aware of the rudeness of such a linguistic choice in front of Megan, but choosing to do so for the purposes of confidentiality. Even given this precaution, he chose his words carefully. "<I am sorry to disturb you sir. I regret to inform you that we have an official inspector from the ministry of energy here. He claims...and I do apologise for this, that the lab site has shown some...anomalous readings. That...again, pardon my impertinence....have occurred when, as I understand it, Lord Harrow started testing his...started his tests....>" He coughed politely and gave a delicate micro-bow at Megan's direction.
  23. GM With a crash, the mighty steel door ripped straigh of its hinges, tumbling down the corridor to cause some considerable damage to the lift entrance. Flames from the burning cellar licked themselves even higher, and a suffocating smoke belched forth from the room behind her. "Help...help!!!!" said the burning vampire minion inside, his body half turned to ash. If there was any unlife left in him, it would be ash in a matter of moments. The cellar was almost an inferno now. Alarms and sprinklers activated in the lift and in the entrance corridor, dowsing Lucy in first steam, and then cold water, giving her a solid drenching in moments. Looking at the lift - it had been broken by the mighty force of the steel door that had collided with it. Fortunately, the lift shaft was still intact, leading thirty feet straight up to the ground level...
  24. Woah! Diabled is enough to rip of hinges.
  25. Yes indeed, the protector of the cargo is none other than Devil Ray! He is swimming towards the propeller. Blod is unlikely to see or encounter him, but Tsunami may or might, depending on her position?
