DC 20 Sense motive checks. DC 15 will saves to avoid the emotion control despair!
-
GM A solo blues guitarist, blind Jim Goat, took had taken the stage. He sang like a goat, but played wonderfully. Nobody was really sure if he was blind, half blind, or just wore dark glasses and pretended to be blind. But he had a good stage act, that was for sure. Everybody just wished he would stop caterwauling every so often and just play his strings. "Got my tongue all bent, Cos of what I said... Yeah, I got my tongue all bent, Cos of what I said..." Hatchet nodded, with a cold knowing smile on his lips, and a steel gaze at Agnes. He silently put one finger to his eye, then pointed at her. I'm watching you... Croak gave Roi an evil look. "My heart gonna fade... My rage been made.. "Come on Angel! I been bustin' my  over you ever since you walked in here baby! you gotta give me some satisfaction! not go spittin' my eye with some off the boat loser like Frenchy here!" he growled in his scarred voice. For all his paternal clothes, he was giving off a nastier streak right now. "Like the ace o' spade... Like the ace o' spade...

NPC Kamil Singh was sipping tea and dealing out some cards on the dashboard of Cressida for the umpteenth game of patience when the heroic trio started piling the Avian's into the airship. "By Vishnu! what are you doing?" he asked, firing up some tanks, flicking switches and consulting thermo-gauges. "This ship isn't built for mass haulage, Sir!" he said politely to Lord Steam "As you well know, seeing as you designed it!" Singh knew the ship almost as well as Lockwood, and flew it even better. He could hear the creaks and groans of the ship and had an instinctive feel for the ship. And knew it was sinking. "Auxiliary steam supply to aft! Thrusters to horizontal! Bilateral ballast eject!" he called out, flicking switched, turning knobs, and kicking a naughty lever. "And do try to even the load!" he called out to Heraldo, who was dumping to many avians portside, causing Cressida to lean a but uncomfortably. "Right! Lets move!" he said, jamming two levers fully forward, and pushing Cressida into the skies, at top speed, to get as much distance as possible from the bomb in the sky...

Ok, so the Hound is going to take 10 on Gather Information and see if he can find out anything about this Homeless chick and where he could find her. So thats 22 result in a few minutes with connected feat.
-
NPC Meanwhile... The Hound stood outside the Hospital, heating up his mobile with phone calls. Another god-damn charity case. What does Fred think we use to pay the Groceries? Bleedin' hearts and goodwill? In his heart of hearts, Harry didn't like this kind of murderous street violence any more than the next guy. It made his skin crawl. "Yeah yeah, some kind of homeless woman, that's what we heard. Three guys, that's right. Yeah, yeah...Liberty Subway. You know something? hmm? yeah? maybe...hmmm...maybe not huh? oh yeah? right? he might know? yeah, hmmm, good point, ill give him a call, the rotter..." He hung up, and took another deep draw an almost dead cigarette with a long line of ash. Harry knew plenty of ears and eyes on the street, and knew plenty of ways to get them to talk. When people heard of this kind of random violence, even the thugs of Freedom City dropped the code of silence and loosened their tongues.

Fine by me

Scuffs, as this would be a personal thing for Glow, I am going to leave it up to you: yay or nay! (I have no feelings one way or another, consider me a waiter offering you an after dinner mint) I've thought about the double - date thing. And, in conclusion, I am edging towards thinking it isn't a good idea at this moment. For a variety of reasons: I dont GM as well for 4 players. I think the juxtaposition of "teenage dating" and "Mexican drug lord" is an uncomfortable one, it is going to get crowded (as I plan to use Devil Doctor too) in terms of plot, I am going to use Towers for a Glow/Silver Spider thread (and it overlaps), and I finally, I'm not sure how to do it well. For those reasons, I'm going to say I know my limitations and back out, sorry. Having said that, I have yet to come up with a good idea for El Sierpe's return. So I may yet resuurect that. Give me a day or three to think up something, then I will start discussions with you two, is that ok? In the mean time, lets wrap S&D!
-
Whilst this isn't the way I (normally) operate, I applaud this discussion. In a sense, it could actually be construed as coming at it from a different angle. I think the important thing is to make sure the story and the character fit rather than trying to hammer in a character to a plot. I prefer to do it with character first, but then I have evolved into shying away from mega-events into smaller-scale more intimate ones (at least, in the scale of superhero RPG's), where the players actually get a reasonable amount of narrative control! Personally I have some vague ideas for the Serpent people, El sierpe, and Malaise, but these have grown organically from the threads and converge. I am toying with some link up between Gauntlet, the cult of the Beast Rune, and the Master, but I will be discussing this with Granspear and TiffanyKorta. In other words, gimme some slack in those area's! I won't do anything till I have talked it out and agreed it with the characters it involved as it involved their cannon (that includes you Ari!). My personal view is if you are doing story first have a strong think about how you match character to the story, and perhaps just as important (? more so) player RPG agenda to the story. What you are describing are broad brushstrokes, I think, without the flesh on the bones, which means there is a lot of leeway in how you actually implement a story. That seems a good thing.

"Don't worry man" said the Mess, clapping Clark on the arm. "Me and the Hound, we can sort this for ya'. That's what we do. And we are good at it. We gonna get this man for ya, and we gonna get him behind bars. Dont ya worry!" he said, giving the man a reassuring smile. If nothing else, Freddy didn't lack confidence in his abilities, or Harry's. He put his hands in his joggers, and, with a bit or rummaging, gave Clark the official card of the Bloodhound Detective Agency. He had them printed proper, as he couldn't read himself. "Ok man, stay in touch! that's our number!" With that, he left Clark, whistling tunelessly, and reaching for his mobile, bringing up Harrys number. "Hey Harry! We got a case! Some scum been doin' a real number on the streets... ...no I ain't asked about money...."
-
I should probably give Mess that skill, eh, next edit eh? 1d20+1=13 If its ok with you, as its largely fluff, it fits, and Crusader is not actively concealing the fact, ill go with your gut (and mine) and say that Mess at least has an inkling that the Crusader can handle himself? let me know if that doesnt sit ok with you as GM and ill edit.

"If we fire up the secondary coal furnace, we can probably keep afloat in the air with all aboard..." replied Lord Steam, mentally doing a few calculations based on weight. "But best to take her down as soon as possible and let the local authorities deal with them. To be honest, I would dislike keeping Avians captive in their home environment, even in my steam ship. This whole racket has left my feet aching for solid ground..." "Yes, solid ground. That sounds like an excellent idea. Let us go there as soon as possible. And by that, I don't mean falling from the skies at terminal velocity, and with a great deal of mess, blood, and shattered bone and brain. I mean in Cressida!" He opened the airlock to greet Singh and his own ship, the blast of cold air hitting him momentarily. "Well come on then!" he said, striding forth.

SO, with some regret, I think the time has come to wrap the thread! We probably need a few more exposition posts, but before we do, I wanted to ask you guys a few things. I take it from chat you guys pretty much liked the slippery villain, so lets bring him back? (from chat I think half the site liked him!) 1. There was some talk I think about Glow/SilverSpider/Blod/Heraldo on a double date getting screwed by El Sierpe. I am not opposed to the idea, what do you think? My initial thoughts on this are a) I am better at small numbers of PCs (not that I cant handle 4, its just I wont be as good / will be even more rubbish with 4) and it sounds something I will have to think about in terms of progression. Maybe its the thread after the next El Sierpe thread, I dont know. 2. We still haven't used El Diablo, the devil doctor who makes all those drugs he uses! thoughts? He wasn't as strong as El Sierpe turned out to be, but I kind of miss him! 3. Legalities. I am thinking El Sierpe weasels out of jail on a technicality. For instance he was forcibly removed from Mexico were he lives. OK, so it may not simulate real life, but its a good story. Ideas? 4. On that note, Scuffs (and to a lesser extend Heraldo), if you wish we could make life even more awful for you two (and another complication!) El Sierpe filmed your confrontation in Mexico, edited it, and now has evidence that Glow (and perhaps Heraldo) assaulted him and threw him over a border. You are now a fugitive in Mexico! Again, I don't want to force this on you, but if you want to make this a part of your history and a complication (perhaps something you can resolve by finding the rest of the tape where he fired first) then let me know. If you have any other thoughts also, please let me know. I just thought Id sound these out before wrapping! Nice thread! Thanks for playing!

Gallia Falling, part 2 - Rene-le-Chateau (OOC)
Supercape replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in Archives
1d20+11=22 although I dont know what the DC is! -
No, that's a good gm call in my opinion. 5 Bruises staggered and dazed...
-
Supercape felt the sweat on his brow and his breathing become heavy. Forcing such massive energies, twisting molecules so out of align, took a stain on his body as well as mind. His cape dimmed and glittered rather than shone. He was not fooled by Taraxus' bluff, but on the other hand he had put all his effort into that last blow. He could not afford such exertion again. He drifted backwards, in a stream of radioactive particles. "Something looks like its fading!" he said, pointing at the dimensional rift. "And its not just my cape" he added. "I thought that little incandescence would looks far better on you! although green is, I am told, a difficult colour!" At that point, Taraxus started glowing a very bright and unhealthy shade of purple-green...
-
Ok so as Supercape is Fatigued, he will back off as a move action, flying say 30 foot away. As a standard action he will irradiate the guy, a perception range attack so automatic hit and another DC 28 toughness save.
-
"Hur Hur" guffawed Mess. "I'm a pretty unusual person" he answered. "Look, Clark...it is Clark, right? that guy's Brother? The guy who did this, real nasty piece of work. Kind of guy that's a cut above the normal piece of trash that walks the streets, I'm guessin?" "Can't sweep away all the trash from the streets, but every know and again, along comes a piece that's just askin to be sorted out, you know? someone that needs to be put behind bars. And sooner rather than later" He bashed one hammer like fist into one spade like hand. "Me and my partner, Harry, we run a detective agency. We can help find this guy. And we can help put him away!"
-
EDIT: Forget all the stuff about El Sierpe! Young Brittania is up!
-
GM As the prowlers made their introduction, a wandering tramp made his way to the pier. The man looked pretty inebriated from his gait, and the way he swigged from a brown paper bag pretty much confirmed that impression. He half walked, half staggered, up to the policeman counting cash on the pier. "H-H-Hey M-m-man...I h-heard there wash shum of thosh new dockshers here. I wanna givum I peesh of my mind, yanowatiymsayin?" he mumbled, waving his fists around in wheeling motions. "Wordsh ish...wordsh ish...fightinsh talk...us old timersh, we aynowpushoversh...yanow? ifthersh fightinshtalk, we givum fightinsh talk..." The police office pulled out his night stick and gave the man a none-to friendly shove. "Take a hike man. If you know what's good for you. You may have heard right. But if you did, you won't last ten seconds down there. Just beat it, before they spot you, ok?"
-
NPC "Heads up gang" said Harry, nudging his Partner a little to hard and causing some burger to fall into Fred's lap. "Our little weasel friend has turned up. Sliding his way into the bar" Harry stubbed out his cigarette, and in his nerves immediately lit another one and slammed it into his lips. "Right, lets see what the toerag has to say. And for God's sake Freddy, keep lefty and righty tucked away for now, eh? Well, perhaps let the toad see lefty and righty. But don't go round bashing him up. For starters its against the law, and for seconds...well, perhaps there isn't a seconds...but don't do it anyway? capiche?" "Ah c'mon!" replied Freddy. "I wasn't going to hurt him. Maybe just tap his face a little..." he said with a wink at Revenant, without being serious.

"Bravo, Sir!" called out Lord Steam, in response to El Heraldo's fist-work. "May I compliment you on your formidable pugilistic skills and remarkable strength!" he added, as he made a few fiddles with the steam cannon. "Now, if you would back away, I have never used one of these before. Remarkable piece of machinery. I would have changed the variable thrust compensation to a more dynamic thermal copper system, myself, to improve overall efficiency, but, overall, I would complement the engineer!" He took aim, finding the weight and balance a little uncomfortable, and fired. "Tally ho!" he shouted, as the weapon erupted.
-
As Steam is up! Firing Steam Cannon! 1d20+13=17 I have no idea if that hits, or what it does!
-
Fred Grunted his disagreement and cracked the knuckled of his two best friends, the aforementioned Lefty and Righty. Harry groaned in response. Fred bit into his double fried triple Steak Burger. A special monstrosity he had insisted the local fast food joint "Big Bob's Beef" had served him. Surprisingly, after Bloody Mess had endorsed the burger, the double fried triple steak burger ("That Bloody Burger") had become a local hit. "Yeah Yeah" he mumbled, his mouth full of meat and fat. "You just do your jibber jabber high flying talk. That toad don't speak smooth words, ya know? He speaks fist. Even Harry had to shake the words out of him last time" He took another mouthful before he had finished the last. Somehow, he still managed to burp. "Shtill, Il lfthsh ysh dyoosh thyyyah talchhhshing schtff frschh..." he mumbled, his mouth stuffed to the brim.

Steam up? (if there is any left? )
