Gallia Falling, part 1 - The Death of Kings (IC)
Supercape replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in Europe
"I bid you greetings then, Edmond, and fair fortune!" replied Rene, slightly reassured and stepping back from the crevasse of anxiety he had been perched on. That wasn't to say he trusted Edmond...or anybody, yet.... "I doubt the Countess is a pawn to anybody. At least if I understand her nature. And I think she may exert her influence and power whatever our intent...but, in principle, I agree with your cause. Men are not to be ruled by nations. Nations are there to free men, not chain them!" "But tell me, it is not enough to oppose Robespierre and the terrible reign. No, opposition is not in itself standing for anything. What do you intend to do if Robespierre is deposed? back to the rule of Aristocrats?" -
It does! Post away Scuffles! 1d20+2=11 its a KO! (Azuth, will get to your actions once Scuffs posts!)
-
Fair enough! That is, unfortunately, a miss, even on an immobilised Towers. Post away Scuffles, then Silver Spider is up!

"I don't like the look of that!" shouted Lord Steam, as the three Avians starting and their curious weapon. He couldn't quite make out what they were holding at this distance.... "Rather vexing" he continued "but I doubt those chaps have our finest health in mind!" he concluded. "First things first!" he added. He fired his revolver again, another hiss of steam kicking out as the mercy bullet, almost silent, sped on its course.

Taking 10 on an attack shifted +4 DC, -4 Attack, so an attack roll of 20, and if that hits, DC 23 Toughness. Move Action: Move! Also: In case needed (forgive me for being premature) a knowledge roll [technology] to see if he can tell what the Avians further on are constructing...1d20+15=26 (unless you feel its non-steampunkish / mechanical enough to evoke a complication).

All cool, and up to you KD! As a GM I tend to work pretty hard to try and allow HP from complications, myself. And I have noticed it is considerably easier to do with just one or two players! Getting 2-3 HP in your entire play here is unfortunately low in my opinion! In any case, if you want to grab a rank of luck thats fine by me - but I will be working those complications if I GM!
-
Its a one-shot, I wouldn't worry to much about PP / Budget! Scanning over him, and it looks cool, my two comments are: 1. Luck feat (and luck powers) may not be a good fit. As you are stuffed full of complications, I think it would be a good idea to use those to gain HP. 2. A few skills, like intimidate / diplomacy / bluff, at +17 bonus and skill mastery may be a little high for a low powered and very social-conflict driven thread...essentially he will win almost every conflict. I get its his "bag" but on the other hand Noir is very much about social conflict, deception, intimidation, etc. +17 Bonuses are very hard to beat when most people would have +5-+10 even if they are skilled at that level. I'm not militant about this, but looking at it not sure its the best fit, perhaps in the range of +12 or so tops would be good - enough to beat a low level thug (most of the time), but not dominate "bosses" (but still have good chance of doing so). Eh, just thoughts... Anyone have any comments?

Very busy week so little posting. I am on call this weekend, so postage my vary!
-
Absolutely! Improvised weapons are fine! (of course it need not be a golf club - a baseball bat, or even a football helmet would do!) But it will take a move action to pick one up. So its either that or acrobatic bluff.

Thanks for interest and ideas, all put into melting pot. As December is a busy month and full of disruptions, I would like to kick these off in January. In the mean time, spend some time firming up what you want, the kickers, and the character (including fatal flaw) - as well as for those that want to pair up, discussing in between you! Ill leave this open for discussion, and if anyone else wants to chip in that would be great too.

GM The Robot was damaged badly, unco-ordinated and malfunctioning, and took the full brunt of the cosmic energy of the Silver Sentinel. One of its arms flew off, spinning away into space before exploding. Smoke billowed out of its main body, and sparks of high powered energy flew in every direction. It was made of solid stuff, however, its advanced alloy somehow holding it together despite the brutal punishment it had taken, both from the Star-searching hero and whatever insults it had received on its journey. Its head spun towards Silver Sentinel, observing its attacker with a beady eye as it continued to slow its descent to the moon, which was now so close...

2 Rounds till Impact! Silver Sentinel up again!

El Heraldo - 3 HP Glow - 2 HP

GM Ms. Gradys mouth popped open in a neat "o" at El Heraldo's oratory. Her eyebrows rose, and if her hair was not smoothed down into an immaculate style with the latest follicular product, her hair might well have too. "My stars and garters!" she said, in an almost sing song voice. "I'm sure Mr. Cloak would never...er...I mean, I think that Mr. Cloak wouldn't...I mean, he has some standards...I mean, he is..kind of...professional...ish...." she replied, as her confidence evaporated. "Very well, then! I can't stand by!" she said, bringing forth some previously hidden self-determination. She stood up, smoothed down her dress, and marched over to Mr. Cloak's door, which she opened wide. "Mr. Cloak! some visitors!" Mr. Cloak jumped out of his skin. He was halfway through stuffing his suitcase full of documents in no order, his coat halfway round his arms, his glasses half off his nose, and his comb over hair a mess. He was in a hurry... "No! No! Not you!" he yelped as he saw Glow and El Heraldo. "Don't you know what you have done! I'm not safe! I'm getting out of here!"

1d20+8=14, 1d20+8=27, 1d20+8=12 ouch, that is going to hurt! thats without the bruise penalties - attacking 1,2,and 4 means net rolls of 11, 25, and 10, against DC 27 Toughness. Grue 2 makes it. Grue 1 and 3 fail by over 15, so Knocked out! Post away!

"Bones don't melt, they burn. Its the Calcium phosphate content. At exceptional heat they will sublime..." said Supercape, off topic. "But..*ahem*...to the question at hand. I doubt you could burn me, at least not before I have completely irradiated you...." he brushed aside some steam. "And I can see you perfectly through this smoke. I, sir, have the upper hand. And I don't intend to deal it away, at least not until I know what is going on here. Why are you at this building?" "If you want to try and burn me, then go ahead, but next time, I won't hold back!"

An impressive start! 1d20+10=15, meaning Disabled, Injured, Dazed! Post away!

3 rounds till Lunar impact. The Robot is using slightly modified Core Rules Medium Robot. Round 1! SS has initiative.

GM Solar Sentinel shot off to the bright debris, whipping through the cold, hard vacuum of space like a comet. As he approached the object, he started to make out its form. Tumbling too, and animated. The object was broken, or malfunctioning. It was hard to tell how badly. It spun gently, no reflection on the massive velocity it had, plummeting towards the far side of the moon...towards Farside City. It was, on close inspection, a robot, maybe seven or eight feet tall, but slender. It was damaged, not physically, but as though its power systems had ripped through its systems causing considerable damage. It was still active, however, its head, with one eye hanging out, complete with wires, turning towards Silver Sentinel as the spacefaring hero approached. It looked down at the rapidly approaching lunar surface, and started to fire its thrusters, with limited effect, slowing its velocity. One thruster virtually exploded, ripping off the lower part of its leg, the other one fired a magnificent stream of plasma, effectively slowing it...although it would be only moments before the robot struck Farside City...

GM As Star Knight Forax tumbled, her four arms unable to stop her rotation, Solar Sentinel reached up to grab her... Warning...power source infected....energy systems unstable.... No you fool! she cursed, as a shock of electricity coursed through her body at his touch, causing uncontrollable spasms of pain in her own body. Can't...take...much...more... she grunted to herself, as her vision constricted for a moment. She tried hailing Solar Sentinel on standard, and non-standard, galactic channels, to no avail. Her sensors blinked on and off line, still tracking the debris that plummeted towards earth and... She turned, pointing with her two right arms at one piece of debris hurtling towards the moon... No...have to stop that...if the Farsiders get infected.... She looked hopefully at the Silver Sentinel, pointing vigorously at the moon bound debris. With no atmosphere, the debris would not burn up. At least the Earth bound objects might, if everyone was lucky, succumb to the atmosphere. She pointed again. Eventually she had no choice, raising her wrist-mounted laser, she carefully burnt shaky words into her own armour. STOP IT! she wrote, in wonky but legible lettering. She pointed once more at the debris heading to the moon, as her vision began to fade...

Knowledge [Tech] Roll from Solar Sentinel please! this can be untrained, DC 15. If failed... Bzzt! Crackle! Electric shock as you touch her...a DC 23 Electrical Damage attack!

GM Towers, still carrying the battered Jackson, looked down at his feet, now wriggling at super speed but without any effect in propelling him forward. "Throw me a sweet hoop!" he yelled, in his customary trademark catchphrase, but without any enjoyment today. "What in damnation is this muck! I can't move! Get me out of here!" "Yes boss!" answered the two bodyguards, who, reasoning that Silver Spider was the cause of their bosses woes, lunged without grace and with insufficient speed to catch the superheroine. "Not her, you fools!" yelled Towers, as he took out his wallet. With his arm and hand blurring, he threw a series of coins, like bullets fired from a machine gun, into the webbing. It was sturdy stuff, but started to fray slightly as Towers continued to throw his change at it with superhuman speed.
-
the two dumb-ass bodyguards are going to pounce on the Silver Spider! I cant recall if I statted these guys up...but basically, they are just big bruisers (STR 14, CON 14, Att +4, Def +4, Fort +4, Ref +2, Will +0). This gives them grapple bonus of +6, if they hit that is! 1d20+4=9, 1d20+4=12 Which they don't! meaning... Round 2 46 - Towers - Immobilised 19 - Glow - Unharmed - Fatigued - 2 HP 19 - Police - Unharmed 17 - Silver Spider - Unharmed - 4 HP 8 - Entourage (Bodyguards) And Towers is up, and whips out some coins to throw at the snare! He can hardly miss a stationary object, but here goes! shifting -2 attack, +2 damage 1d20+10=12 its a good attempt! Thats still a hit however (defence 0) and +1 to DC from autofire bonus. So thats a DC 23 Attack on Snare (5 Base, +2 Shift +1 Autofire). Lets see how that snare holds up! TOughness +8 1d20+8=18, enough to hold for now! it takes 1 injury. Glow is up!

Gallia Falling, part 1 - The Death of Kings (IC)
Supercape replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in Europe
“ Rene stiffened slightly, taking faint offence. He couldn't quite make out the features of the young man, whose melodramatic entrance was framed by shadow and darkness. The night was black, and dim firelights cast long shadows. "It seems I have not been told much at all, if there is any truth to be gleaned from these few days. One veil is sundered to reveal another beneath. Is there no end to the layers of deception and mistruths? Do I get any closer, or the truth an unobtainable phantasm. Ah! But perhaps this is the only truth of life...." "In any case, you have me at advantage, Monsieur, in both your perception of events and your name. I would ask it, and your intent!"
