  1. Arise! Arise, oh thread! You guys want me to bump along the plot or social / research / Parkhurst stuff?
  2. "Anything is possible" answered Rene, as much to himself and the stone walls as to the super-detective. "Whether it is plausible is another matter altogether..." "I myself prefer to keep an open mind about these things. Patterns form, things are what they ever where, but in cycles new and changing despite their resolute stasis. Eldritch protects our world, as do the residents of Parkhurst hotel, and others, like Madame Equinox. And I understand she bears no love for the Redcaps..." "Even if he does not enter our world, the effects may be felt there. Everything is connected, in ways beyond even the wisest to understand..." he stroked his beard, thinking. "But enough philosophy, my friend, I hear a song. And if my old ears can hear it, they can hear us...."
  3. He cant defend against that, so post away Electra.
  4. Supercape looked at Voltage for a moment. Coincidence? or....? he decided not to voice his concerns right now, but felt it would be a good idea to have the younger hero at his side. "Voltage, you best stick with me. I hope you don't mind giving these intruders a little shock...ha ha ha..." He muttered to himself something about tumbleweed as he called up a lift to take them down to the lower levels... The remote possibility that Voltage was in fact part of the intrusion did enter his mind, but he dared not fully entertain the thought right now. Voltage had done nothing to indicate anything other than utter trustworthiness, and if he was a double agent, things would be a lot more serious and dangerous than they appeared...
  5. 1d20+18=24 However, I think that a blast 12 attack is DC 27? Making him bruised!
  6. Given Zero's INT and disraction and in keeping with the spirit of zombies, lets proceed to round 1 with Catalyst having the initiative!
  7. GM Patient Zero looked like pretty much every other SHADOW experiment she had run into over the course of the day. A shambling wreck of a vagrant. There was something about this one though. He moved a little less clumsily, he shuffled faster, with urgency, almost rage. Whatever viral, bacterial or chemical agent burned through the other poor men burned that much brighter in this one. His flesh seemed more weathered, veins blackened and throbbing through paper thin skin. The two cops, behind their patrol car, fired bullets into the man with no perceptible effect. Zero took hold of the patrol car and pulled it apart like he was ripping open a carefully wrapped gift. The two cops looked at each other and started running, waving at Catalyst as she jumped into the fray, her guns ready...
  8. 1d20+2=22 for Rene!
  9. GM "You have been most informative" answered John Smith, scratching his chin which had a light stubble. He gave Hronos a deep, thoughtful and penetrating stare. "I have no doubt that we will meet again. I wonder in what manner. In what form. But it seems our paths will be locked, ancient as we are. Man against steel. Passion against logic. Will it be as hand and tool, or as spear and heart?" "Nevermind. For now, our paths diverge. Yours lies back in the forest...the park..." he corrected himself. "And mine, elsewhere, for me only to know..." He sat down and put on his shoes, and gave Hronos a half-smile, full of enigma, before wandering off into the city, patting the pockets of his jacket to check all was still present.
  10. GM 'John Smith', still barefoot and holding his shoes, listened intently, and was most interested in what Hronos was saying. Particularly the bit where he showed him the purple hued light source - the essence of time. "Interesting, most interesting..." he nodded, refraining (for now) from calling Hronos 'Robot' or 'Tool'. He seemed feverishly animated. "And tell me, can you travel in time? this essence of yours? you are able to control it? are you able to focus it? it allows precision in time travel?"
  11. You can narrate that! post away!
  12. SMokeys up? (Also I dont think the second toughness save counts until he actually touches SC?)
  13. "I would be most interested in learning what you did sign up for..." replied Supercape, somewhat shocked at the Smokey's transformation. "Clearly you have more than guns at your disposal. And seem determined to use them...." he answered as his costume, all brilliant blue and white started to shine a radiant blue, humming with power. His cape whipped round like a whip of his own, returning the attack at Trigger. "And I am rather disinclined to be smashed to a pulp today. It is most disagreeable. I do hope you would stop this violence..."
  14. Supercape will activate his glowing cape AP then (A radioactive strike aura!) 1d20+12=26 That is probably a hit on Mr. Trigger...so its a DC 27 Toughness save. (And best of all, if they touch him, its another DC 27 Tough save!)
  15. GM A little later.... "El Sierpe?" said Captain Meddows, a blond, sunburnt cop with sunglasses, stuble, and a more than generous share of good looks. He flashed an easy smile and a wink at Glow as he handcuffed the crime boss, whistling at the man's height. "Yeah, we heard of him. Holed up here in a fortress. Never had a thing on him, although his file is inches thick. CIA, FBI, you name it, they want him..." "Its nice to be popular" hissed El Sierpe, as he craned his neck to get into the car. His seven foot frame would not normally have fitted, but the man was unusually limber. Meddows scratched his reddened neck and looked at the snake cane in Glows hands. "I guess I should take that for evidence. Or something. Heck, to be honest, I'm not sure what we have on him. Those merc's we picked up aren't talking. All I got is a bunch of beat up goons who clam up in fear...." he whistled through his teeth. "And we got the immigrants, dunno what will happen to them. Still illegals. Thing is, they cant testify to squat in the U.S. Although from what they tell me, he's got a rap sheet as long as both your arms over the border..."
  16. 1d20+8=28 Bluff for Smith! :o
  17. "A good question!" said an alarmed Supercape, raising an eyebrow and his arms almost reflexively as the flame spurted like a flower blooming. "One, I confess, I have no real intention of testing in the field. And I doubt you would do the courtesy of testing under safe experimental conditions!" "In which case, I must throw some light on the matter!" he spurted out, eager to avoid being fried alive. With a mental flick of the wrist, he excited a few molecules nearby to collapse, releasing their energy in an explosion of light....
  18. Supercape unleashing an EMP! Perception Range Dazzle 13 Burst Effect. So thats DC 23 Reflex save or dazzle visual and radio. (NB: As its perception range, no reflex save for halving the effect, I think).
  19. 1d20+5=19 for sense motive. EDIT: As you actually wanted a bluff roll, thats a +1 bonus for 15. For prosterity, ill make an initiative roll 1d20+0=14
  20. "Gentlemen, please" said Supercape, unblinking. He looked down at the barrel of the pistol, which seemed entirely mundane. "That weapon lacks the requisite kinetic energy to penetrate my force-field. You are welcome to try, of course, but the discharge may be dangerous. " Never underestimate... he reminded himself. "My only purpose here is to shut down whatever device or power surge has originated here. As far as I can see, you chaps have not broken the law. Yet..." he added, glancing down at the gun. "So now is your opportunity to prevent the untoward occurring...and tell me what is transpiring?"
  21. For reference, putting his standard quantum force field up
  22. Welcome! :)
  23. Boo! Hiss!
  24. Whats this? thought Supercape. "What's this?" said Supercape to the men, walking in bold as brass (having doubly reassured himself his forcefield was fully active). "A glowing circle? A four armed hermit? old Armstrong?" He decided that sneaking was unlikely to get him anywhere. Unlike some heroes, he could not turn invisible, and unlike many more, he was not a super-spy or ninja. No, all he had was his brain and the ability to unleash nuclear power. "I do apologise, I couldn't help overhearing, and I am rather curious...I rather fear this whole place is in imminent danger of exploding or some other undesirable effect!" He gave a low bow as introduction.
  25. Emphasis mine. Its not implied. At all. I have checked on ATT. I have checked on UP, and in the core book. Nowhere does it say this. I don't know where you found a post on ATT to indicate your viewpoint the only one I have found is this which indicates that detecting minds requires a new sense - detecting of minds. Do you have another official link on ATT that contradicts this? I cant find anywhere saying the default mental sense detects mind. They say is that it's detecting mental effects on you Unless I have missed something? Aside from the fact that the rules indicate it is this way, compare it to our house rules. A "detect thinking" power would be common, 3 PP. You would then have to add accurate, acute, ranged, and radius to this for a total power cost of 8PP. Which is more than 5PP. Saying you, or the site here have played it that way is no argument that its correct. Especially given the above point. It's wrong, and we either need to explicitly house rule it as ok, or change it. Shaen, no need to go into detail about supersenses for my benefit - I agree with most of what you say, and I know the rules here pretty darn well after studying them. No need to repeat exactly what I said about blindsight either. But if you are going to call me out on some rules being wrong, and some ATT posts supporting you, do please post them so we can all look at them.
