Gallia Falling, part 1 - The Death of Kings (IC)
Supercape replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in Europe
"Here we go" said a nervous Rene. Despite his best intentions, the pressure was getting to him. He was sweating profusely, and his hands were shaking. Seventeen years old and involved in a plot to rescue the Prince. He patted down his flintlock for the umpteenth time to reassure himself. He cast his eyes around the darkness, impenetrable as it was, yet still able to throw up suggestive forms and silhouettes. His mind could fill in the gaps - adding in Robenspierre's guillotines on his neck for good measure. He loosened his suddenly tight collar. "Right then. Fortitude. Purpose. Resolve" he said to himself like a mantra. And opened the door... -
Note: I am making El Sierpe a very annoying 3D villain! His current tactic is a bit mean (and will prob be worth HP). However these kind of situations can turn into something major for PCs in terms of backstory / complications / development etc. Also, this he is very frustrating! I don't want to impose stuff that people don't wont imposed. So I am trusting you both to let me know how far to push the envelope!
-
El Sierpe looked in horror as his pets flew around the mansion to their end, his expression darkened as his jaw dropped. A sly smile formed on his lips. "Very true!" he answered, holding his hands up. "I surrender, I am at your mercy..." he whined "...I fall at the feet of the law. Oh...yes....you are the law, are you not? there is the small matter of destruction of my mansion, my cars, my helicopter...I am sure you have enough evidence to convict me..." "...of what exactly? what are you going to convict me of? illegal snake ownership?" He smiled again. "I'll just call my lawyer...."

Pausing for dialogue!

"It most assuredly is not a good idea" replied Supercape, standing up and letting his cape fall around him. "The intruder is either very stupid, or very smart. Or possesses immense power. I hope it is the former..." he explained, as his cloth sparkled gently, a field of quantum-wave-form forming around him. "The Lab holds some...dangerous...equipment. Like a fusion reactor down below. Even if they get close, I would not like to explain such a security risk to the mayor of the city..."

You can spot some rustled mens clothes, and a swinging "changing rooms" door...mens changing room that is...

Rene laughed heartily and bade the redcaps farewell. There tongues had wagged, loose as they were, but he fancied they would be no looser. "So, an aggressive monarch!" he said to Marceaux as he stroked his beard. "Leading the redcaps to greatness, no less. Well, those two didn't seem overly keen on Parsinkles expansion. What concerns me..." he murmured, to himself as much as to his master detective companion "...is that Parsinkle doesn't think small. His expansive goals, and dreams of greatness, may not limit themselves to this dimension..." He pondered the matter a few moments. "Bah! We need to found out what is going on! I think it is time to delve into the depths of the Castle, as you suggested. Let us see if our good king has anything hidden from prying eyes...."
-
GM "Haha, the tyrant reveals himself!" laughed the man. He sat down on his haunches again, sniffed the air of crushed leaves, and rubbed the earth. "As far as I am aware, robot, this land is public property. I am perfectly entitled to be here. No crime has been committed, no police have cordoned off the area. You touch me, you are committing assault, and possibly false imprisonment. Oh yes, I have studied the law well enough to know my rights, and yours..." He gave a cold smile. "So stay out of may way, robot. No matter where your investigation leads you. Do not, for one second, believe I will use every resource at my disposal, including the laws of this land. As for your infantile threats, do not consider me threatened. Arrest me if you will, and I will make sure you are punished for your wrongful arrest". He smiled a smile of pure confidence, and a little malice. "I'm not leaving this area until I choose too. No machine will coerce me, despite your delusions of grandeur about your nature. And...I choose not too..." He turned his head away from Hronos in contempt, and went back to studying the land, and the out-of-time foilage under his feet...

GM "I have no quarrel with anyone" replied the man in neutral tones. "Unless they have quarrel with me. Be about your task, robot. You wish to protect all living things? within their ecosystem?" he asked. "I wonder what that means to you. What if the ecosystem is dangerous, or lethal? what of the pain and suffering of untold generations, fighting the harshness of life without the tools of today, hmmm?" "What of those predators, like the beast just now? what of the virus, what of the plague? would you protect them, too?" he mused. He lightened up. "I doubt your wheels and circuits have such complexities. Such humanity. Logic chains love, Robot. It is not basis for morals..." At that, he laughed. "I have all the time in the world, Robot. And I need not your assistance. You stay out of my way, and I will stay out of yours. I seek you no ill, unless you get in my way...." His eyes were cold, somehow, dull with ages, alive with purpose. "Nothing will get in my way. I get closer every time...."

GM The ancient camera flickered briefly, illuminating the walls for a second, as it was passed over by Phil. The rest of the audience, taking no chances, fled the theatre with remarkable vigour, even those that had been trampelled underfoot. "I guess you had better take it..." he gulped. "Whatever it is. Damn, I never thought my movies would become real horror shows..." he muttered as he wiped his brow. "What are you going to do with it?" he asked. "I mean...I know its dangerous, but its...well, its beautiful, too. I'd hate to see it, you know, destroyed. And I made some great films with it..." he continued, looking at the camera with a certain fondness. The theatre lights briefly flickered on and off in a eerie reply.

GM The man looked up at Hronos. His eyes had that far away look, ripe with experience and wisdom, of years far beyond his youth. "A robot" he said, half a question, half a statement, and delivered with half a smile. He stood up, a calm, delicate motion. "A Tyrannosaurus Rex. Now that's something I never thought I would see..." he said, tapping his chin. "Old, very old. You can feel it in the ground..." he said, curling his toes into the foliage beneath him. "Even the plant's here, old, old, old..." "I think its safe now, robot. Although I know not why metal and wheels would care for humans. You investigate all you want. Just don't stop me in my searching. I seek only to help my fellow man..." he said whistfully and with sadness, lost in memory...

Just a note to you guys - a suggestion really. This is not a criticism, I just thought I would point about the general convention in posting here (note convention, not draconian imposition!) A few of the more recent posts are very short - the one about the gloves could have been a note in the OOC to let vector / horngeek put that information in his post. Generally we tend towards OOC giving factual information like that, and IC are written as if you are reading a story, in past tense. Also note that those short posts would be too short towards counting towards post count. We don't ban short posts, although we generally encourage slightly longer prose. Again, do not take this as critisicm, I just thought I would point you in the direction of the usual writing conventions here!

Down by the generator... "The backup?" asked Synth. "I'm no engineer..." she muttered, as she looked at the generator. She was no genius, but her carefully designed brain had the remarkable ability to absorb and think at much greater speeds than normal humans. It was an efficient organ. Shedid not rate her intellect as high as the geniuses that had designed her, however. It was just that she had a more organised brain. She took a look at the generator. It looked fairly straightforward to her inexpert eye. "I appreciate not being electrocuted, by the way..." she said to Vector as she attempted to restart the power...

Synth with guard is going to try a medicine check on the guard (courtesy of Jack of All Trades feat, and with Quickness power to add some speed!). 1d20+2=8 and fail!
-
Synth gently put down the guard, examining him. The clone looked rather uncomfortable, wrapped in the guards jacket and nothing else. Her dignity was preserved but she looked like a catwalk model in some bizarre chic. "I'm not a doctor" she said "but this man is seriously injured. I know we shouldn't raise panic here, but if perhaps there is someone with medical experience in the visitors?" she asked Bob. "Unless you have some experience..." "My knowledge is rather basic, but lets have a look at him..." she said, examining the man carefully.

I should have seen that one coming...cursed Lord Steam as he saw the trapdoor. "Ideally, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to take the opportunity to examine this marvellous ship for clues and the like. However, it strikes me that I would like even more, to carry on living. And it appears the latter desire would be best served by avoiding being blown up. In other words, a suggest a speedy departure!" He sat straight up, not neglecting his half full glass of wine, and downed the delicious vintage in one gulp. "Away! to the ship!"

You can whizz into the department store, yes! but what will you find? Notice check if you do - although you may want to do other stuff when you get in there...

GM The trail was not hard to find. Truth was, it would be hard to miss. If the broken tree's did not give the game away, the dinosaur footprints did. They lead to a clearing of broken trees in the centre of liberty park. It was fortunate indeed that no people had been walking past, or tragedy would have struck. One solitary man knelt on his haunches in the middle, inspecting the ground, picking up some foilage and sniffing it. He was a slightly short, but fit man, dressed in a smart suit, with a fedora on. He was barefoot, and held his shoes in one hand. His hair was short, his skin bronzed. He looked about 30 years old. His face was neither handsome nor ungainly, with a big jaw and big brow. His eyes were green and mesmerising, as though he was looking right into the horizon at all times.

Turned out to be a urinary tract infection (to which I am prone) dancing up to the kidneys. Antibiotics are great. However, as often happens with these infections it has wiped me. Perhaps having a cold at the same time pushed me over the edge (I normally fight off colds fast). But its turned into post - viral (and bacterial) fatigue. So forgive me if I am v low on energy for the next few weeks whilst I recover...!

From an ill an tired chap, so take with a pinch if salt... A few mecalhanical issues... Concentration and acrobatics break caps. 15 Ranks only at PL10 concentration IIRC is specifically not allowed to be skill mastered. as per house rules, 1/3 of your attack bonus must be bought as base attack (same for defence) Alterate save reflex might well be scrutinized on approval. Its not that recommended for powers, fir instance it can be a cheap way to buy a power which should be fort save with the extra cost if affects objects. I'll just note at this point it may be acrutinised carefully on submission.

The combination of a few very busy days and a bad cold has lead yo a really rotten chest infection. I should probably be off work but am dragging myself in, to flop into bed for a sleepless slumber of coughing every day. IM knackered. Barely have the will to make a cup of tea, so sorry it will proba be the weekend before I have any atom of energy.

Bonfire night tomorrow and general real life business mean I will be spartan in my postage for the next few days...

Yep! I forgot that with the long break. I will edit when less tired!
