"Ah yes" nodded Supercape with the pretence of understanding. "Peppermint. Yes, very handy against radiation, I'm sure. " he coughed politely. Anybody else, he would have laughed in their face, but he suspected Dragonfly could construct a teleportation beam from a biro, a lenth of copper cable, and a piece of blue cheese. "How long will you need? I'm going to run a few diagnostics on the particle decay, see what I can pick up with my noddle" he pointed to his head.

Personally its not how I would have interpreted the rules, as it would be equivilent to be hit by a thrown opponent and that opponent automatically hitting with his fist or sword or whatever. However, its no fun to quibble for the flow of the thread. Its something I might throw up in chat at some point in my busy life however! 1d20+4=6 SUpercapes Grapples is predictably awful! I think that means he is held immobile. BUt not helpless! Although as far as I can see he would still be floating mid-air, with the blob basically preventing any physical action and keeping him flat footed etc. I dont know if it would prevent him flying? (Unless he failed a concentration check - Ill make one for your GMing scrutiny - 1d20+14=19 which is enough for the Powerlevel (4) +10 check but I don't know what you had in mind). Of course, it also means he can get crushed by Blob next round even if it is blind! Who is up next?

Rene dusted himself off and gave a nasty look at his downed opponent. "L'exposition est plus, Monsieur". He stretched himself, and seeing the other heroes, suddenly grabbed his hip and made a show of pain "oh dear, I'm too old for this you know!" he moaned theatrically, closing his eyes with the exaggerated pain, and peeking out of the slit of one to see who was watching. Anyway, the show was indeed over. He didn't recognise the other heroes personally, although he read newspapers of course - and he could place Fusion and Cannonade. Wasn't there someone else who had joined in the fight? "Pleased, to meet you" he introduced himself. "Rene deSaens. Helpless old man. " he winked.

"So, the Beast Rune again?" muttered Rene. "Apparently quite crude, quite crude. These poor souls have been completely overcome by its power, they cannot harness it. Driven mad by it, maybe. " "I respect your privacy, Monsieur, but perhaps you could tell me more about the Beast Rune? Now would seem an... appropriate time? If there is anything more to be told..."

Notice roll [Auditory] Here, Its quite far off So -10 Penalty for 100 feet. DC 10 To hear however. [DC 20 for details] 1d20=18 Rene misses it...

"Nudge, yes... in principle..." answered Supercape "I haven't done math here, but the problem is how to apply the Nudge. And the force needed to apply the Nudge. Either you need a massive amount of energy in one big push, like a nuclear explosion. Or you need a lower level of energy over years, like putting a solar sail on the asteroid - and a big one at that. The problem is - this asteroid is huge... its got mass... its got momentum. And it takes a hell of a nudge to get it off track". "And whatever we do, we have to be on it, to do it."

Looking at your post, it looks pretty reasonable to say thats pulling of an HP for the "Insight" or "Inspiration" use of the HP - the glasses I shall count as fluff etc. Is that ok by you?

"No danger of a meltdown, as far as I can see... but that's probably your area, not mine. Technically, its rather hard for a meltdown unless the coolant systems malfunction. No, I think the problem is more of the Reactor just... failing. The power is being leached off. There has been some minor local radiation leaking, but nothing to do with a meltdown. The systems could probably do with your expert eye, of course, but the chaps here seem pretty confident. I say, what are you building? looks awfully clever!" he said, nodding at the sprawl of electronics and gizmo's Dragonfly had arranged. Ivan gave a "Hmph" a slumped away, muttering something about needing a drink.

"Hmmmm, yes. She is quite the green fingered one, isn't she. Met her at the University myself, lovely young lady. Good cook. And jolly nice chap she is marrying too, of course. Although I don't know him quite so well of course. They make a splendid couple don't they?" He adjusted his bow tie for the umpteenth time as he spoke to the Doktor. "Well, nice to know we have the same taste in florists as we do in Quantum physics, eh?"

"What's this?" spluttered Slick "a twin? a doppelganger?... well I suppose that would be suitably poetic for a German Opera..." Every sense screamed something was wrong, or at the very least suspicious. "Bring that man over here, I have a few questions!" he ordered, perhaps with more irritation than he had intended. This was getting more bewildering by the minute.

RIght thats a lotta rolls! Ok fortunately Supercape has a pretty tough Forcefeild and Cape! 1d20+14=30 vs the Crit, so shakes that off. NOt quite sure why a crit causes DC 25 and a regular causes 25 too...? Nevermind a DC 30 shakes both off. So the throw. 1d20+14=22 Enough to take a bruise And the acid 1d20+13=21 SHaken off Ill stop there just to query.. if the blobettes going to grapple me, doesn't it need to hit me?

Its Perception Range, Burst Area. [Each a +1 Extra as far as I can see]. From my recollection several months ago, Shaen told me it should be Targetted. But yes, it works as a General. As I understand it however, Perception Range AoE attacks allow for no Reflex saving throw to half the damage.

Indeed, and a perfect addition! Still interested?

"More limbs than a nest of spiders" commented Supercape, poking a half constructed leg and peering at it with more than eyes. "Interesting configuration here, you seem to be modelling the electrical distribution on human biometrics. Well, nature is the best designer so they say..." He was mumbling to himself, he realised. "Ah yes, well here we are Baron. Seems like you have hit jackpot, eh? I would imagine you will find no finer expert on prosthesis than our good lady here!"
-
"Hmmm, well I rather think its because of our scientific enterprises that he has come. And that being the case, lets bring him to the lab, eh? Conference room is a bit to stuffy for my liking. We should have got more comfortable seats, you know." He smiled at Magnus "charming lady, bright as a button! shall we?" and lead him back to the elevator, bringing him floor 23, where Miss Americana was currently at work.

In principle I don't want to screw up characters doing stuff, but I get a little concerned about pulling out a customised Multi PP device for an HP (which is effectively a 1 PP feat: Luck). A Jury Rigged Ritual or Device would do the trick, although it works as a one-off use only, and would require some rolls.

Has Marcus made this gizmo before?

"Most relieved to have some assistance" saluted Supercape "although I am not to fond of acid, to tell the truth". He gazed down at the battlefield. The campus was already looking like a bombsite from the direct destruction of the blobs, the acid, and the stonework of his comrade. And things were looking desperate. A few smashed windowpanes were probably worth the safety of Freedom City. At least no Frat Boys were in the range of the nuclear blast he would unleash. He took stock of the situation and chose a point, or, more accurately, an atom, roughly equidistant from the four smaller acidic blobs, and let it convert from mass to energy. E=MC2... And a burst of nuclear fire erupted in Freedom City.

Ill try blasting the blobettes then. DC 25 Toughness save for them. Perception range AoE I always find difficult to get my head around! One of them is "Everything I see" and one of them is "Everything that can see (not actually seeing) the point of origin - which I must see" I think. I forget which is which. But I always get muddled.
-
Need to call in Electra / Miss Americana at this point I think!
-
"Well, I see you know your physics" smiled Supercape "and sorry about that, I get a bit carried away sometimes. Anyone would think I was giving a lecture.. hehe..." he laughed weakly. Secret Identity... Secret Identiy... Must maintain... "..Ahem. Anyway. I am sure Miss Americana will be delighted to speak to you. I dare say she would be quite the expert on cybernetic prosthesis!" She virtually is one, for starters... He went to a nearby console and dialed up Miss Americana on the console. "I say, old Girl, got a spiffy chap here, Baron Magnus fellow. Seems a bright fellow and hearts in the right place. Wants to talk to the Lab about joint ventures. Particularly interested in cybernetic prosthesis. More up your street than mine I think, although I did bore him with the particle smasher down below!" he winked at Magnus.
-
Ivan gulped and became, if anything, more sweaty than before. "Everything alrighty?" said Supercape, barging in with a cheerful grin and banter. "Steady on with the gauntlet, Dragonfly, have somebodies eye out with that!" he joked, poking around with some of the tools he barely recognised. "Anyway, I've had a look at the reactor, and would you believe it, the rate of neutron decay is totally off the scale. I mean, looking a the quark-antiquark collision spectrum, the chance of the collision spectrum spontaneously reaching that level is, oh, I don't know, well... astronomically low..." He paused. "I say, are you quite chipper, old girl?"

I am happy for Nick to have some appropriate clothes in the Car without expending an HP, as its cool - as long as you feel it can be justified.
-
Rene spoke to the Barman again, in friendly tones, buying him a whiskey and laughing with him. After a minute, he returned with another two whiskeys in hand and spoke to Nick again. "The barman is rather ignorant about our friends intentions, monsieur Nick. They arrived separately, but within a day of each other, travelled light, and dressed oddly, in hoods and cowls. He thought zey were, er, how you say, 'Goths'? or something - he is the kind of man who asks few questions as long as ze money is good. " He scratched his chin. "Perhaps we could inflitrate, I do not know. There is little to be lost if we can do it right now. If you have the right garb in ze car, he he. It has been a while since I have gone undercover!"

Supercape shooke hands with Victory, who he remembered from their Bank-robbery-busting caper. "Good show! nice to have you with us. I'm sure there is no finer pilot to take us to the damned thing!" He shook hands with Push enthusiastically, and equally enthusiastically introduced himself to Blueshift. "Pleased to meet you, madam! The name's Supercape, on account of my, er, magnificent Cape!" as always, he subconsciously shifted his cape to become even larger, brighter, and more sparkly when he said so. When the computer revealed the extent of the threat, he whistled. "That looks... like... well, the end of civilisation as we know it. Maybe the end of all life on earth. Unless we stop it. " He peered at the numbers more closely "at least we have time on our side, chaps" he said, with a wan smile, his face as white as a sheet. He paused, closing his eyes for several seconds, before opening them, his face even whiter than before. His voice had a distinct tremor and he gulped. "I...er...something very odd here folks. It...um...the quantum entanglement is...err...well. To be honest, I don't know. " he looked ashamed, the facade broken. "But to add to the misery, I cant sense it, and I can teleport there..." He banged his fist on a table in a quite uncharacteristic show of frustration "Blast! I can travel anywhere in the multiverse but to that damn rock!"
