  1. You paralyse the rock! The rock remains motionless! The rock continues to have momentum and maintains exactly the same course! And no, even if you had move object with sufficient range and power, it is made of 0.3% PLOTonium, which cancels the power! ;)
  2. "I don't think the beast can even talk. At least not more than a few words" muttered Rene, dusting himself off. "I don't suppose your unique abilities include some kind of connection with such creatures do they? You handles those dog's pretty well. Hmmm. Something had them spooked. Like these things. " He examined one of the unconscious beasts. "Still has tattered clothing. Modern. Jeans, t shirt, that stuff. Not much left of it, but enough. These were people once. My gods, Marcus, we must try to reverse this!"
  3. Marcus feels some affinity to the Man-beasts. Not kinship, but he can sense Beast-Rune magic at work here. I'm going to leave a lot of narrative to you on this one GS, I have the basic idea in my head (which I can reveal if you wish), but the details of Beast-Runes are all for you to discover, with Rene's help if you wish. My initial thinking here are that these Man-beasts are hikers who have been transformed recently. Whilst they aren't werewolves, its a similar principle, having been transformed from some "Parent" beast who gets its power from a Beast Rune. If anything about that clanks with your idea of Beast Runes, let me know and I can revise.
  4. GM "" Ivan could not be any more clumsy, either verbally, or physically, if he tried, as he gave a grin and the fumes of vodka hit Dragonfly in her face. He reached out to brush her blonde hair...
  5. "Certainly... probably all of the Lab, including myself" replied Supercape, as the elevator ascended to the library, where the got off. This level of the Lab was something of an oddity. Whilst it was a fully equipped electronic library it also doubled as a library of books and paper, and a reading room, with battered leather sofa's and tables. A place of quiet study and relaxation. Supercape often unwound here for less serious study and academic pursuits. "Miss Americana works on a bit of everything I think, although computer science seems to be a particular skills of hers. Cybernetics too, so no doubt you would want to speak to her. Dragonfly is more hands on engineering from what I can see, and very capable at it, alternative energy sources would be something you could discuss with her. Ironclad too, perhaps. Gossamer is our chemist, perhaps biochemical or fuel interests may entice her to a discussion. As I said, I am not a designer of technology, but I do plenty of work on the theoretical side, nuclear energy, matter to energy conversion, solar and cosmic radiation collection, that kind of thing. There is even possibilities to harness inter-dimensional friction using m-theory, if one hyper-paralabalets the plank constant through an artificial virtual vaccuum that collapses in a fractal loop..." He went on to describe some highly complex mathematics rather excitedly...
  6. Ok that seems enough to run with... Any thoughts about where? Also: I am going to cautiously sound people out here - and this is a very cautious sound out - is there any interest in a communal mystic HQ? "The Lab" went very well (and is going strong) but I am aware that lightning rarely strikes twice. I am not sure if its a good idea but I thought it worth throwing in. EDIT: TT, more than happy for you to run the thread!
  7. Well its Burst 10 at top Power... I don't know what would be a "safe" power level to use...
  8. Im not sure of the layout here: is it safe to lay out a non-selective burst attack?
  9. "Heh, perhaps we could... at that..." laughed Rene, who was thoroughly enjoying himself. It was like a Parisian brothel. "But non, I think the what we have achieved here is but a distraction. And the goodwill of the patrons. Happy customers drink more..." he nodded to the barman, who was grinning ear to ear, as he served out whisky after whisky to the audience who were now singing away to themselves. Rene spent a few moments talking in hushed but friendly tones to the Barman before returning to Nick, with two cheap whiskies in his hand. He handed one to his partner. "Drink up!" he said with a smile, gulping one down. He was in a sufficiently good mood he could tolerate the stuff today. "Our necromantic friend has hired all the four rooms out back, with strict instructions not to be disturbed. Has some friends with him, underlings, or apprentices maybe. The bar is normally quiet and undisturbed. Even the police don't frequent much except for the occasional brawl. And he seemed most interested in the story of the place - apparently some mass grave from the civil war, or so the rumour goes... but I guess you picked up on that..."
  10. Rene nodded "Oui, Oui, my friend, thanks, it seems to your timely intervention. It seems that the Beast Rune iz powerful indeed. It has made you more than a match for these creatures..." he indicated the two unconscious creatures, the cracked tree, and the third beast held in Marcus' Iron like grip. "Now then, what 'ave we here. What do you think? something very strange. But it seems my intuition was not entirely wrong... there are beasts in the woods today... not entirely beasts, and not entirely men. And sorcery is afoot... a spell of transformation, perhaps?"
  11. "Righty ho then!" said Supercape to Dragonfly, "I'll just have a sniff around the reactor, see what I can find with Chalinksy whilst you do your grease monkey wizardry!" With a swig of vodka that Chalinksy insisted he try (and it was rather good), Supercape went off to see the reactor, whilst Ivan took Dragonfly to the workshop. "". He shuffled his feet. " As he spoke, his words were slightly slurred and his breath smelt slightly of alcohol.
  12. SOrry havent been posting to much today - RL business. Dok your dedication to Science is hat-tip-worthy. All above is approved!
  13. "All sounds noble enterprise" nodded Supercape, who was astute enough to catch the pause in his Guests speech. "I have my personal concerns about the social impact of weapon manufacture. That of escalation. But then, I would say that, I'm British. Its not a popular view here in the States, but you probably empathise given your heritage. We Europeans don't allow our citizens to buy automatic weapons at cornershops!" he quipped. He made a show of some of the features of the particle smasher, showing off some of his latest research. This was his baby really. "It's powered by our own nuclear fusion reactor. We have all chipped into that one - I provided some of the theory behind it, whilst the others helped with the more practical building of the thing. As I said, I'm not the engineer round here. Of course, it so happens my own powers are attuned to my knowledge - bending atomic forces this way and that. I'm pretty much a living Star Trek sensor". He lead the Baron back to the lift. "Plenty more to see - anything in particular you wished to examine?"
  14. That Juggler WILL go down! Shifted +2 damage -2 Attack Fire Blast 1d20+6=19 I suspect that hits a stunned opponent? DC 25 TOughness. With 4 Bruises I hope that finally gets to do something with bite!
  15. I'm presuming that civillians are out of the way, or at least almost completely out of the way. A dazzle isnt going to be lethal anyway. Perception Range Burst Visual + Radio Dazzle on the Blobs. Its auto hit, with np reflex save for 1/2 effect (As perception range). DC 20 Reflex save to avoid being dazzled. (Fort save thereafter to recover)...
  16. "Oh Spiffing!" moaned Supercape, scanning the debris and looking a the quintet of angry blobs below him. "They seem almost impervious to harm too, I'm trying to find some crack in their defences, but they keep throwing rocks at me..." He located a suitable molecule in the middle of the bunch, and shifted it. "And I don't fancy one of those in my face. I don't know how they target, but this should serve as an experiment...." The molecule ceased to exist, emitting its mass as a burst of light and electromagnetic energy. The epicentre of the burst was enough to dazzle anybody looking into it. If they used the electromagnetic spectrum as sensory apparatus, then it was unlikely they would be seeing much but static for a few moments at least...
  17. Damn it been years... no, I tell a lie, decades... how does it go now... Rene sat by the Piano, then in a flash remembered the autumn of 1820 which he had spent partying with Beethoven. Yes, he had picked up a few tips... it was coming back to him now. And then his neighbour was a Jazz musician - he quite liked Jazz. America's greatest contribution to art, he always thought. He opened up with a few diminished ninth chords before moving into an uptempo Jazz version following Nicks voice. He surprised even himself, bashing away at the keyboards and putting on an outstanding version. Before long, the whole Bar was singing along - badly in general - cheering, whoopin' and hollerin, and in a few cases even dancing! the noise was fierce, and for a few minutes, and probably a few hours more, the drunks had more than alcohol to drown their sorrows in. All were joined in gay abandon as they sang along unashamedly to whatever song popped into the crowd's head.
  18. "Well, non-profit organisations sound good. We do accept funding from business, as a form of insurance - basically we get to haul their ass out of trouble when their latest experiment backfires" he chuckled. "But non-profit organisations are our preferred partners. We are non-profit ourselves". He invited his guest into the elevator and took him down to the lower levels, stopping at Sublevel 4. "Ah here we are. My fabourite level. Particle smasher. Does lots of wizard s tuff with subatomic particles. If you can call them particles any more at the energies and speeds we deal with. As you rightly said, I am a theoretical physicist. The other members of the Lab are more practical than me, I confess. But I am the man for all the quantum, nuclear, and timey-wimey wibbly wobbly dimensional stuff!" he laughed good naturedly. "What's the remit of your company, may I ask?"
  19. Ok Rene burning an HP (down to 3) to gain 5 ranks in Perform Keyboards (he has beginners Luck feat). That will give him +7 in the skill. 1d20+7=27 Halleluljah! 25 Memorable performance. Audience enthusiastic Quite enough to get a distraction! Im ruling that will give us Suprise on our foe when we get him, as he is distracted by the hollerin' from the party. Feel free to Roll for Nicks Singing too, if its Great or Memorable, additional bonus.
  20. "Distraction eh?" pondered Rene, gazing around the slouched Barflies. "I'm sure these drunkards could rustle up something of that order if we gave them the right motivation. Tell me, Nick, how is your singing voice?" It only took a little wink to let an electric spark fly behind the Juke box and let it fizzle out, to the annoyance of a few of the crowd there. Meanwhile, Rene pressed a few keys on the battered but still functional upright piano...
  21. That sounds good to me! THe man-beast is only uttering animal sounds and a few "kill" type words, so feel free to narrate its response - its totally enraged, but you are considerably stronger than it and can keep it contained.
  22. Slick gently pushed over the unconscious goon was slumped to his knees. He fell onto his back with a heavy crack of the floorboards and gentle puff of dust. "That the end of that operation. Bad business, bad business" he sighed, as his flesh danced again back to the oily, spandex uniform of the Superhero Slick. He knelt down to Knuckles, motionless for a second. "He smells of all sorts of drugs, to be honest, but I don't think he uses them. Smart man. Keeps his head clean, that's how he operates. "
  23. Its a KO.
  24. "Why of course" replied Supercape. "I have to say, you passed with flying colours today. Good head on a good pair of shoulders, if you ask me" he smiled a smile full of encouragement. "I would have to disable the lower level safety locks but that's not too much of a problem, providing you can pass a medical at our facilities here". "Lots of other interesting stuff we can do with the locks off, but those zappers can sting!" he remembered the malfunctioning Simulator Suite below and how he had been caught in the powerful electrical arc. He rubbed his chest without thinking. "Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed your stay here, and it wasn't to arduous. Some of those simulations can be a bit tedious, but you were able to grin and bear it!"
  25. The hook caught the man-beast squarely on the head, and sent him tumbling head over heel, to land in a awkward pile, completely unconscious from the force of the blow. Rene turned to face the last beast, and in his mind, painted a stream of vines from the nearest tree that strated to wrap themselves around the creature. He hadn't counted on the beasts uncanny agility and ferocity, as it twisted out of the snare and tried to sink its teeth into Rene, but this time to no avail, still fighting off the creeping tendrils.
