  1. "What's that you say?" answered Supercape, as he turned down the Classical Music playing in the background. He had just popped into the Lab on a whim, for the view more than anything else, and to quickly check up on the vaccuum decay of a lattice of Quantum Material. And he had a good detective book he had left in his quarters. He had actually been nodding off when Archeville's call came through. When the super-scientist explained the situation to him - peppering the explanation with maths and physics that hurt even his Brain, the horrible reality sunk in. "Oh dear" he commented. "Let me see if I can pick it up..." he asked, begging Victor for a few minutes. But he could pick up nothing... other than the fact that something was blocking his normally omniscient ability to peek into the heavens. An anomaly, like the one off Pluto. "...nothing" he said, dejectedly. "Which means I can't travel there. Nevertheless, Earth is in danger and I will do what I can. I guess its travelling there by conventional means. You need hardly ask for my help, and I need hardly reply. Count me in!"
  2. "Oh Doggy Bag, what a splendid Idea!" said Supercape, stuffing some brownies into a paper bag. He gave the others a big grin, and gave Doktor Archeville a friendly civilian salute. "I would just like to say on behalf of all of us at the Lab" he said to the Doktor, before continuing in German "" He stretched his back before continuing "but that's quite enough PR for one day. I think its time to escape!" he laughed, as the time space continuum around him wobbled, and the sparkling costume and magnificent cape vanished from view.
  3. "Spiffing!" Supercape touched Dragonfly's arm, and concentrated. The time-space continuum wobbled around them, as two locations became entangled. There was no noise, but there was a blurring and distortion before the surroundings suddenly changed and the temperature suddenly dropped. They were outside, in Siberia, in the middle of a cordoned off area. Concrete buildings loomed over them in every direction. Russian signs (illegible to Supercape) warning imposters that they would be shot, imprisoned, or in one case, eaten by the dogs, were placed everywhere. "Welcome to Abakan Nuclear Reactor Facilities of Abakan!" said a gruff voice. "I am director Chalinsky, and I make big welcominks to you!" Standing in front of them, flanked by dogs and armed guards, stood the tall, broad Director, with a wide, broad grin. Everyone was dressed heavily for the -30 temperature. Snow fell lightly to the ground - at least it was not windy.
  4. Yes, although that is not to a perception range attackers advantage! The attack has the extra "Secondary effect" which means it will kick in again next round for "free" (as per UP) - not sure how that will play out at the moment. Are we still in combat etc?
  5. Marcus acute smell can pick up the odour of a strange animal. If you have Life Sciences or Arcane Sciences knowledge you might possibly recognise it, but its hard, DC 25 for rough group, 30 for more detail.
  6. "Heh. Call Yourself. Thats what I did!" grunted Rene as they went over a bump. "I think you are the man for the job, to disentangle the mystery so speak. " When they reached Wharton forest, the pair continued to drive through for several minutes until they reached high ground. Rene asked Marcus to stop. "Here is as good a place as any. Its on foot now. "
  7. "Right then!" proclaimed Supercape "I am forced to use non-lethal force to contain you until you desist from violent activities!" He had no idea whether the thing understood. It almost certainly didn't. But he felt compelled to say it, anyway. Sailing upwards above the blob, and hopefully out of his reach, he released a more furious burst of radiation that bathed the creature with blue light.
  8. Ok, Starting off with an little Radiation Burst! DC 25 Toughness save (its perception so auto hit). Move Action will be to fly upwards as high as possible (? out of reach ?)
  9. "Ah, there you are!" said Supercape, his tidy battered black suitcase in hand. "Good good. All set for our little excursion? wrapped up warm? brought your scarf?" He had considered bringing an umbrella, but it was snow they would be dealing with, not rain. "I have worked out the time-space entanglement to get us there. Just say the word, and I will have us there in the blink of an eye!" he beamed.
  10. Rene took a rather despairing look at the car. In truth, he didn't own a car himself and it had been decades since he had driven: and the cars of today were a lot more reliable than the clunky ones of fifty years ago. He actually quite liked the beaten up old car driven by Marcus. "Hmph. Spared no expense I see!" he said, getting into the car with as much irritation as he could muster. "The seat is not so comfortable. It will play havoc with my back. I'm on old man, you know!". Once in, he strapped himself securely into the seat and stretched out his feet in a most relaxed manner. "Drive on" he said, waving his hand vaguely in the direction of Wharton Forest. As they were driving, he is explained his painting. "I do not know exactly what it means, but I was pondering the Beast Rune and how to understand it, when I painted the scene in Wharton Forest. Perhaps something is connected, but I do not know what..."
  11. Approved!
  12. Get a hold of yourself man... It's probably just angry about its food supply... like a newborn babe.... Hey, that almost sounded convincing, he realised. Supercape braced himself infront of the blob, making sure his quantum force field was active. He raised a finger theatrically - it almost circled - and attempted once more to reason with the thing. "Please refrain from eating us. We are sentient beings! I am sure that if we work together in a spirit of co-operation and unity, we will be able to procure you matter in sufficient quantities to satisfy your nutritious needs. Indeed, we may potentially both benefit from such an arrangement! I implore you to show restraint and respect for fellow sentient beings!" He briefly considered sending the message in morse code, but doubted that would be much good. Besides, his morse was pretty shaky, at best.
  13. Double post is fine, but this time Supercape will use his monologue / man of inaction complication if thats ok...
  14. Immunity to cold descriptors is 10 PP, so an HP for that is a bit rich, technically! However, the only cold effects in this thread will be environmental, so paying an HP to call back that device is fine. If for some bizzarre reason we get Cold bolts or the like, then we can work around a "decay" of the device or something other handwavium. Its graet to pull back a device from a previous thread! how could it not be allowed! On that note there is no pressing urgency. If you want to use your inventor feat to whip up a low PP device (you could probably have a day or two at most grace) then go ahead. Also, we may take a few days in Siberia so you could use inventor feat there.
  15. "Wharton Forest" replied Rene "and I don't know where. We may have to look for ze right spot. Somewhere high, with a good view of Freedom City" he said, scrutinizing his cryptic painting. "I hope you can drive, because we may have to drive around ze forest. And I hope you are fit, because we may have to do a little of ze walking. How my old bones will cope, I don't know. I'm a helpless old man, you know!" Rene started packing a small hamper of wine, bread, and pate. Well, if they were going to tramp around Wharton Forest on the basis of some ill formed painting that had jumped from his unconscious, they would need refreshments!
  16. "Excellent! Meet me in my quarters, and pack something warm" replied Supercape before Dragonfly hung up. He started to rummage around in the somewhat messy private rooms he had at the Lab. His costume would easily provide protection against the Siberian winter, but he packed a fur lined Russian hat that he promptly placed on his head. Well, it would help blend in, he decided. And it looked eccentric. He hastily threw a few things in a small suitcase: a few books including Advanced Practical Fission Reactions and Russian for Idiots, as well as a laptop. Space in there for a few bottles of premium vodka on the return journey, he realised.
  17. Supercape made a show of telling the young Frat student to be more careful, before turning to face the blob once more. It seemed irate that its food supply had been snatched away - which indicated, to his razor sharp mind, two things. Firstly, it may have primitive emotions, or act on instinct. And second, it may prefer organic matter. The second was deeply concerning. And worse still, he realised, the blob was now angry with him, and seemed intent on replacing its missing morsel! He gulped a little and steadied himself mid-air.
  18. 1d20+0=6 The mighty Supercape, man of inaction!
  19. What was on that lap top, the cure for cancer? Idiot Frat-Boys.. "Stand clear citizen!" he shouted "this unknown entity is a potential hazard!" - and with that, he swooped down and scooped up the student as best he was able. Supercape was neither strong nor weedy. He could carry a man for short distances at a slow pace but that was about it. Fortunately, that was all that was needed.
  20. "Ah, there you are!" replied Supercape, again reminded of Dragonfly's peculiar style of social interaction. He did hope that wouldn't set any Russian off. This mission might call for a modicum of diplomacy now and again. "I believe you speak Russian, don't you? It just so happens the Russians are having a spot of bother with one of their Nuclear Reactors and have approached the Lab for some help. All very odd. I would have thought you and I could sort it, eh? you are a bit of a whizz with all that engineering and nuclear physics is my speciality. What do you say?"
  21. Ok Supercape is going to Pick up the Frat Student and deposit him somewhere. He can manage that as a heavy load, and will put some ranks of flight behind it as a boost. It wont be fast but it should be enough? I dont know if you want any rolls for that.
  22. OOC for this thread. Supercape and Dragonfly drink Vodka, help the Russians, and have actionski!
  23. "So, Mr. Supercape, Russia would very much appreciate the help of the Lab in this most... unfortunate matter. We are the understandink that you are an expert in such matters, and that the Lab is also possessed of similar find scientists. We hope we can count on your discretions and much expertise". The Russian ambassador signed off. Supercape scratched his chin and pondered the matter. Some Russian Nuclear facility in Siberia was having intermittent power failures. Minor leaks had occurred - nothing to serious, but still. And the Russians could find absolutely nothing wrong with the facility. The Russians had some of the best nuclear physicists in the world - heck, they could teach him a thing or two. So if they couldn't find something wrong, something was very very wrong. He should go of course - it was part of the remit of the Lab. Precisely the remit, in fact. His expertise in the science behind this was no better than their top men, but he had uncanny senses that could be extremely useful. What he did need was someone who had more of an angle on the technical side of things. And who could speak Russian. He opened up the Lab commlink. "Dragonfly, are you there?"
  24. Maitre Carrefour (from Books of Magic p113) is behind this little caper. Doctor Singh met him a few months ago, in Mexico, and the evil wizard ensnared his soul in the artifact that Singh himself had discovered. Singh was not entirely innocent, thinking he could get some arcane power himself from the device. Hence his guilt and departure to the afterlife. Carrefour is still at large however... Search / Investigate rolls may be handy here, to look through Singh's diary, briefcase, and notes. Alternatively, Gather Information to find out whats going on. DC 15 for a vague clue, DC 20 For a strong clue, DC 25 for the above to be revealed in detail, DC 30 and you can get everything!
  25. "There was something Sentient controlling the statue. Whether it was the Statue, or was in the Statue... hmmm. I am not so sure..." He looked over at Mr. Singh, and started ruffling around his pockets. "I think perhaps some detective work, of the more mundane variety, is in order. We should track where our friend here has been, and what he has been up to..."
