  1. Kraken was fast, but not fast enough. The hammer struck him on his body with such force that his whole body rotated a full circle from the force. For all his talk and bluster, Kraken was not all words. He was also an expert swordsman, a veteran of many a skirmish. Despite the force of the blow, he kept hold of the sextant and the cutlass, and as he rotated from the force of the blow, came round with a whip of his Cutlass at Push. Hurt but not down, he leapt to the rigging of the bridge and, with his tentacles wrapped round the ropes, hung there, several feet above the floor. "Treachery! you mangy dogs! I'll have ye guts for garters! Have at 'em, men!" he shouted.
  2. yep! and unless its a tough or fort save, a stoned out half asleep thug will be failing a reflex or will save without rolling for it: take it away.
  3. "None I'm afraid, and whilst I am well travelled, I haven't spent much time in India or that region. Of course Dr. Singh may not be from that part of the world, I speculate. " There was that summer in Calcutta, 1903 he recalled. Excellent food, excellent hospitality. British not so bad - for British. Heat a little unpleasant. Too much poverty. Touch of malaria. He shook his head. So difficult to remember these days. Probably had too much packed in his skull. "Anyway, I must depart now, I am in the midst of contructing a necroscope at home. Never made one before, bit fiddly, still needs some incantations and all that stuff. Should have it ready by tomorrow. " He shook Nicks hand. "Glad to have your help, Monsieur" he smiled, and walked off slowly.
  4. Meanwhile... Rene found what he was looking for. A christmas card with an actual picture of the North Pole on. He wasn't a thief by nature, but he was in no mood to wait to pay. He threw a bill to the saleslady, noting that she wasn't paying attention anyway, glued as she was to the TV screen. Rene took out his magic brush, and held onto the postcard, drawing in his arcane energies and concentrating his mind and artistic talents. Wait... he paused. There was no reason to know for certain that was where they were headed, or even if they would get there... it seemed that he AEGIS agent, victory was hot on the tails of "Santa"... whoever that might be.
  5. Ok, Santa will be plain to shocked to reply to that stunt! 9 Rounds from the "North Pole" Initiative Time "Santa" is a rather modified version of "Savage Man Beast" from Core Book. At least that is how he functions. No CON, and immune to Fort and Mental effects (due to being a robot). INT, WIS, and CHA all 10, but keeping saves the same. He does not have the Rage feat, to compensate has STR 26 instead (as if he was raging). In addition, the Sleigh and the presents in it will all have some rather unpleasant effects Muahaha! But anyway, Initiative... 1d20+8=13 Bad!
  6. Slick crept forward into the house. The odour was overpowering, but she could smell several people amongst the fumes. The house itself was battered, dirty and barren. The sorry sight of needles on the floor, peppered with the cigarette buts and bottles fitted in with the ambience. The lighting was from naked bulbs, several had smashed. Half asleep on the stairs was another crony, resting on a Klashnikov. He nodded his head dimly in time with the heavy beat of dub music coming from the floor above. Slick looked at her two companions. One stoned thug was hardly a challenge, but the fact that he was so well armed didn't bode well, especially if the gangsters here started letting loose without discrimination. And she didn't really want even one shot let off as a warning. The floorboards looked creaky. She pointed at them and the thug, and silently asked for suggestions.
  7. Rene chuckled. He liked Nick already, despite the man's rather modern attire. He had a way with words. "I like the analogy" he replied "not that I am fond of either the Virgin Mary myth or the Flamethrower reality" he added "but the analogy is quite poetic. And, Monsieur, I like you". He stuffed the picture back into his pocket. "I intend to go to the talk tomorrow, my nose tells me that something no good will come of this, and I would appreciate your help. This is, to be honest, more your field than mine, and I am wise enough to know I am not wise enough. " "Are you able to help me in this duty, young man?"

    Power help

I would say that if you can only snare/grapple one thing at a time, it would probably be best as an additional limb. Snare would mean you could snare somebody, leave them entangled, move away, and snare the next person. I'm sure you could by limitations around this, but it seems a messy way of doing it.
  9. Supercape examined the map. He wasn't a geologist, by any means, but he could see they would be going deep. Very deep. It would certainly stress the quantum structure of his costume beyond the parameters he had previously tested. It should hold up, he thought, if he had made his calculations correctly. Fortunately, he didn't often make such errors. At least Fusion had some experience down in the depths. In fact, she looked more comfortable down here than on land in some ways. Quite at home. He didn't know the heroine well, of course, but the way she floated around on those tentacles indicated she was made for underwater life. Unlike himself. One question needed asking however. "By true Sunlight, what do you mean?" he asked politely "ultraviolet radiation? light? or is it some, um... mystical"...he was uncomfortable with the word "quality?" He could quite easily nudge a few atoms around to stimulate the release of the former. The latter was well beyond him.
  10. As he wasn't stunned, no Knockback! However, depending on how you describe post of the attack, we shall see about the rigging because it is cool - it won't offer any mechanical disadvantage or damage however.
  11. GM Natalie smiled and sat down, patting the sofa beside her as an invitation to Victory. "Well, anything and everything" she replied, crossing her legs. She oozed charm. She oozed sex appeal. Half the men at the party would have loved to be in Victories shoes at that moment - if Victory wore shoes. "You are a fascinating man. You can start with your name, if you would care to share it. And perhaps the story of how you came to be victory? I studied engineering at university in Berlin. I can't say I'm an expert in these things, but it won't go completely over my head, I can assure you!"
  12. I'm not going to be too difficult about this! Santa's Sleigh has Flight 10, 10,000 MPH. He is moving all out to accelerate the speed. It will reach the North Pole in 10 rounds.
  13. Rene rushed outside, curing the fact his joints were no longer as supple as they used to be. Not bad for two hundred years old, though, he conceded. He was not far from the scene of the commotion, and managed to catch a view of Santa and his Sleigh streaking across the city, northwards by his estimation. The speed was incredible, and accelerating all the time. If he was using his aged eyes, he would probably have missed it, but the view was important, and he could see it using his mind's eye, the vision imprinting itself directly to his brain in a mystic psychic fashion, as one would see an impressionistic painting of the scene. What was more extraordinary was the sight of a streak of metal and rocket that veered after Santa, at equally incredible velocities. Rene ran towards a gift shop, and started to rummage through the postcards, looking for one of the north pole. Wish I had wrapped up warmer. I'm too old for this...
  14. Will save, DC 15 or you will look! and we don't want peeking! 1d20+8=28 Critical!
  15. "Well, monsieur Arcturus, Mademosielle Marie, I think we should try not to look at the nasty big speedere and try to be brave. " He turned Mary to look at him. "You can be very very brave, Marie, even when you are scared. Remember that. " It was true too, he had been part of a bloody war or two, and he had seen both fear and courage in the same man. "Now then. Let us try and find ze Bogeyman shall we, and give eem back his medallion..." Rene started drawing a circle in the mud, it was surprisingly intricate despite the crude materials, and it started forming into a large, lidless eye... The pitter patter of eight spindly legs could be heard all around them.
  16. GM "Charmed too" replied Natalie, smiling at Victory. "It was an amazing display. You must have excellent visuo-spatial abilities, and these..." she stroked some of the gleaming metals "...must allow the finest of control. But I shouldn't take away from your performance, of course. A good workman should not blame his tools!" She handed him a martini. "Drink?" she asked "unless you don't? or can't? I am afraid I don't really know much about how you function, or your story at all. But I would love to know. "
  17. Slick creeped up to the door, and opened the letterbox a fraction. It creaked alarmingly, but there was no sound from inside. Without moving, she waited for a few seconds, before whispering to her comrades "one person in there, about 10 or so feet away. Male probably. Place stinks of cigarettes, booze and other drugs. Hasn't been cleaned much either. There may be more above or below, but that's all I can make out near the door. " She hadn't actually visibly sniffed, but clearly she didn't need to. Her whole body was a living olfactory sensor.
  18. Notice Check for Slick 1d20+5=16
  19. For Reference: 20 - Push - 5 HP - Unharmed 14 - Kraken - Bruised 8 - Piratehouse - 3 HP - Unharmed 7 - Kid Pirate - 3 HP - Unharmed 7 - Scurvy Dogs Kraken is up next, and will be swiping with his Energy Cutlass, so he will, to be sure! attacking at -4 for +4 defence until next round. 1d20+9=26 is a hit, I should imagine. DC 23 Toughness save from Energy Cutlass! and its penetrating damage, so that Impervious don't count! Quinn, could post IC your hammer attack, I will then post Kraken's return cutlass.
  20. OOC for this thread.
  21. 22nd December "Breaking News brought to you LIVE by Amy Feng, WCZA Channel 7" screamed Amy Feng on the television. "Santa is in town. Repeat. Santa is in town. Riding a huge rocket powered sled, a giant santa claus is thudering across Freedom City dropping presents on the streets. Except these aren't the kind of presents you want to open kids... stink bombs, flash bangs, all nasty and potentially harmful. Santa has a bad idea of practical jokes... here he comes again..." The TV camera swooped up to see the blurred image of a giant santa streak down to Amy Feng and the Road. At that point, a horrible screeching sound of bells emitted, fortunately the TV could not convey the worst of the sound, for it clearly had a terrible impact on Ms. Feng, who started bleeding from her nose and ears, and passed out from the pain. "HO HO HO" came the booming voice, as Santa leant out of his sleigh to snatch up Ms. Feng. "MERRY CHRISTMAS, FREEDOM CITY! HO HO HO!" Elsewhere... Rene deSaens didn't usually watch TV, but he had to catch this. He had strolled past a wine bar and decided on a mdeiocre glass of claret that afternoon. Everyone was craning their heads to the screen, and much as he despised the rubbish on TV, he was curious enough to look. Thats odd he thought that's not the Santa I recognise... The TV showed some AEGIS agents on the scene, trying to defuse the parcels that had landed. "Call up Victory" shouted one after consulting his earpiece "Santa is heading to the North Pole!"
  22. "Very quickly!" replied Supercape, keeping one eye on Dragonfly and another on the vast illuminated Simulator Suite. The flush programme had finished, at least. He wasn't ready to banish the quantum matter quite yet, however. "Advanced architectural design, Archetech helped out, and we had some superpowered help too. With the will and the resources, these things can be built very quickly. Some of the brightest heroes in Freedom met up to discuss solutions to the problems of the world, and the Lab was one of the outcomes. Its where we can pool resources, thinking, and experience. Not just amongst ourselves but with the scientists around the world. " "And of course, in the event of any catastrophe of science, we are here to sort it out."
  23. Felix walked up to Victory, slapping the cyborg with surprising strength on the back "You are some kind of pilot, son! way to go! got some real cheers from the crowd there, I hope you heard them over those jets!" He took a swig of his martini. "Got a lovely lady here, just dying to meet you..." he leaned in a bit closer, and whispered, in a conspirational tone of voice "...think she's got a thing for the metal, if you know what I mean..." He took the young lady by the other hand and made the introduction. She was a beautiful woman, classy and understated, quite unlike Mindy and Cindy, but beautiful nonetheless, and not afraid to show it. Dark black hair, an olive skin and small features that made it hard to place her ethnicity. She was wearing a shortish cocktail dress and had her hair down, although it had clearly been worn up earlier. Her green eyes sparkled in the light. "Victory, may I introduce Ms. Natalie Nicole, don't know what she does, but she is quite charming!"

    Minion Help

I'm not suggesting raising to 11, yoikes! It's fine as it stands really, just a few suggestions about a few extra PP here and there. The only I personally find a little difficult is the spirit shout not having a will save, but it does depend on how you conceived the power.

    Minion Help

Few points: (By the way, looks good fluff wise, and ties in nicely with story!) It looks on first glance to be PL 5, but Favoured opponent: Evil Spirits will break that, by adding +1 to damage against evil spirits. Thats not particularly a problem in this case: you can raise Crustus up to your own PL in fact. In my opinion it works out quite nicely, as most of the time you can say he is just PL 5, whilst noting Favoured Opponent feat. On that subject, you can buy up to 5 ranks of Favoured Opponent feat! Similarly, you may wish to consider the feat: Favoured Environment: Hallowed Ground, giving +1 to attack or defence. Again, it will put PL above 5 in that situation but I don't think that's a huge issue. Other points you may wish to consider: Spirit Roar: I dont know what effect you were thinking of here - it may be fine how it stands as a kind of sonic blast. If its a true Soul effect, it may need an alternative save (will). You could possibly build some AP's off it such as: Strike 5: Extras: Will Save, Cone, PF: Affects Insubstantial 2, Limited: Magical Creatures Only [12 Points] as a true "warding shout" striking the souls of magical creatures. Dazzle 5 [Auditory] Extra: Cone, Selective, Flaws: Range (Touch) as a Large Warding Shout. Emotion Control 5: Extras: Burst Range, Selective, Flaws: Fear Only, Sense Dependent (Auditory) as a "Shout of Warning", scaring of possible intruders. Also, you may wish your minion (and yourself) to get a mystical communication link (1 PP Supersense), always handy. I know I have added a few extra PPs here and there. I don't know if you wanted this to be a minion 2 feat (for 30 PP), or a sidekick 6 feat - the latter would of course make the minion more expensive!
