  1. GM "It is indeed a very impressive blade, colonial fool!" laughed the young tsar, who was even faster than Cannonade, and spun out of the man's powerful swings. His boast of swordsmanship had clearly not been an idle one. His half dead father seemed barely aware of the commotion surrounding him, and only paused for his eyelids to flutter briefly and for a groan to emit from his pale lips. The vial of freezonium in his chest glowed a bright blue, and the temperature around him dropped - an icy white frost belched forth and hung in the air, killing all the plant life that still remained.
  2. "And a good evening to you!" replied a smiling Professor, handing the young man the bottle of port with one hand and shaking the offered palm with the other. "Quentin Quill" he said by way of introduction "although I am sure you deduced that, smart man like yourself" In truth, Derek looked rather unassuming to Quentin's eye, although he looked pleasant - and smart - enough. And, of course, he chased around galaxies fighting off alien invasions or what not. Have to ask him about that... he mused. Having recently worked out how to teleport via quantum entanglement, and modified his supercape for space-suit duties, the universe was now, literally, his oyster. Of course, Earth would always be his home. But he wouldn't mind a bit of a peek around the fascinating corners of space and time. Have cape, will travel. On that thought, he had to clarify with Stesha if Derek knew of his cape-related activities.
  3. Im not sure if this signifies end of combat? If mother is sinking below, can SC follow with his Radar ESP?
  4. Supercape looked down at the beast. He could still detect the agitated particles emitting microwaves, peppered with loose excited protons. Leaving the mother to stew in the dying remnants of radioactive soup, he looked around for a suitable atom above the remaining offspring. Any one would do, of course, but he needed to be precise with the location. Calculating the explosion as best he could in his head, he chose a suitable oxygen atom and disintegrated it, realising a huge burst of white-blue radiation in the sky, directly over the horrible creatures that scuttled about the waterfront.
  5. *Ahem* It appears I grappled wrong end of stick. OK. Mother is getting the afterglow of microwaves at this point anyway [DC 25 Toughness Check] So, for standard action, I will shift array to Radiation Burst, causing a 'lil ol nuclear explosion over the baby squidlings. Perception Ranged Burst DC 25 Toughness Save for the lot of them.
  6. They are staying as is: i.e. present in both forms. Which I think makes sense... I would like to keep the two forms reasonably similar mechanically for both simplicity and to avoid cheesing it. Fluff wise, the oily secretions occur in both forms (its just that in one, it comes out as sweat, in the other, it comes out as... well, as part of the oil slick), immunity to aging of course in both, Regeneration in both (arguably is oil slick form could regen faster but I cant be bothered with that), and his olfactory sense would also be present in both - its kind of a nose in every cell. Doktor'd at last
  7. Cant see the comments
  8. Personally, I wouldn't be constrained by the "archetypes" listed in the core book. They are a good guide as to how to build, and you can use them as a rough sketch. Start with a concept of what you want your character to do, then work around that. You seem to be going for strength, toughness, and flight. The "paragon" archetype probably is your best sketch for what you want to build, but you probably want to do some small or large tweaking. Supersenses? Skills? How bright / dexterous is he? Vulnerable to fire? all sorts of stuff. Thats probably not helpful, I guess. Think up the concept and then build up, don't be constrained - is what I am trying to say. Complex mechanics are going to be a haul for you if you aren't familiar with the system, but super strong flying characters wont be difficult.
  9. Other way round, Dok. Base Power is the innate, oily blob form. Alternate Power is the human fleshy form! (The reason I am doing it this way round is for future ease of progression) As for noticeable, yep, forgot this was an active rather than passive effect (seems a bit odd to me, but there you go). Drop noticeable then, and drop a rank of Elongation to compensate (Which will also drop grapple and escape artist by 1... I can't see that hurting but there you go!) See comments further down
  10. I sure can, although I am not sure where home is! Teleport 10 ("Anywhere on earth/200,000 miles"; Extras; Accurate, Affect Others, Range 2 [Perception], Power Feats; Progression 3 (Affects 10 others) Flaws; Long Range) Comes in at 53 PP. If its necessary, Change Direction and Change Velocity feats. I am not sure that will carry the Motorcycle, but I could lower Teleport Rank by one, loose the CHange Direction and Velocity Feats, and Gain Progression Mass 7 so every teleporter gets 25,000lbs carrying capacity. Or, depending on how far we are teleporting, reduce teleport (rank 8, 2000 miles) further and push progression mass 12 (1 millioins lbs, which should be enough?) I will do the stunt via Extra Effort rather than HP at this point.
  11. Supercape glanced at Dragonfly again and shook his head in despair. The young woman had clearly had all tact surgically removed at birth. I must scan her brain at some point. Prefrontal cortex may be implicated. Diminished response inhibition... He shook his head. Yegods! its catching! he thought to himself. Whatever the reason, there was no doubting Dragonflies intellect. It just needed pointing at times. As for the stairs, he could have easily transported the three of them up, but that would give a rather significant clue to his identity. To the observer, his teleport looked similar to any other, but to the traveller it might well not. On the other hand, how many times had Etain teleported? "Going up" he pronounced, placing a head on the two women, before the world collapsed to a pinpoint. And expanded again just outside the simulator suite A.
  12. Supercape looked up. There was only a ceiling of course, but mentally he was counting the many floors. Fifteen. Fifteen floors. And the floors were not conservative either. High ceilings. "Yes, of course. Exercise! Jolly good Exercise!" He started limbering up almost unconsciously, stretching his quads. "Only fifteen floors! wont take a moment!" Inside, he groaned. He was fairly fit, thanks to all the cycling he did. But fifteen damn floors was tiring for anybody.
  13. "Excellent!" replied Supercape. Dragonfly seemed to be back in the world of the living again. "So, Etain...ummm. Miss Maher" he coughed "...Miss Maher I mean, forgive my impertinence. I suggest we start off with the simulation suite! both are free at the moment" He lead her to elevator shaft B, and stood waiting for the high powered elevator. Reaching into his lab coat, he produced a small card on a neck chain and handed it to Etain. "Visitors Pass, good for one day. Don't wander to far! it has a tracking device!" he smiled.
  14. "No no, nothing wrong with school. Fine institution!" replies Supercape, with as much encouragement as he could muster. He gave a sideways glance at Dragonfly, and pinched his forehead. I need some Asprin... "My colleague here was just saying how Right High School is". Dragonfly was perhaps the worst teacher material in the known universe. Shame, given her brain. "And we are both very much looking forward to showing you some of the Marvels of Science!"
  15. Supercape had never seen such a huge beast in all his years. Or all his months as a hero in Freedom City. He would have been scared enough, but the sight of a swarm of baby beasts ejecting themselves from the horrible creature's maw was enough to send a shiver down his spine and a cold sweat down his brow. "Yoikes" he mumbled. He had spied Wander stampeding through the spawn, and it looked like a few other heroes had come to fight the monstrosity. The razor sharp spikes was a neat trick - impaling hordes of the evil looking squid. It looked like a battle scene from Vlad the Impaler. He didn't need to be so close to the flying fish, that was for sure. He had only just managed to fly out of the wall of squid that had been vomited at him. He shuddered to think what would have happened if they had dragged him to the ground. So up he flew, whilst looking down and focussing his mind on the huge leviathan. It was still covered in sea water, and he had just the trick for that. With a nudge of a few key molecules, a shift of a few quantum states... ...and a blast of microwaves emitted from around the beast, as some particles lost some mass, and gained some energy. A few photons glistened in tandem, and the beast was bathed in glowing white light.
  16. Supercape Free Action: Words Move Action: Fly Up (for a better view, of course!) Standard Action: Microwave the Fish, Base Power, Using Microwaves as descriptor (thinking it will be all damp and moist!) DC 25 Toughness Save, auto hit. As it has Secondary Effect extra (the afterglow), similar effect will kick in next round on SC's initiative.
  17. "aha yes" interjected Supercape. "And this is my comrade - in - science, Dragonfly" Very bright young lady, heads not all with it, however. Needs a bit of direction. "Dragonfly, this is Etain Maher" he pronounced, making it quite clear that he needed to consult his PDA to find her name. "A student from Claremont. You know, we show them around the Lab and give them some science lectures now and again, all in the name of good community spirit and all that?" He sighed. The reality was that most of the Lab scientists where geeky scientists. Superheroes, yes, but they were all somewhat wrapped up in there own science worlds. Gossamer and Miss Americana were probably the most "normal" - at least superficially. Of course, Miss Americana was anything but "normal" once you really got to know her. "Anyway..." he continued "I am sure it is a pleasure for us both to meet you" he elbowed Dragonfly gently.
  18. 1d20+8=12 Supercape is Petrified. Pfft to that roll! Now technically this means he flees as fast as possible... In his case that could mean very very far indeed. The other side of the universe. It feels more appropriate for him to just fly, but I'll let ref call that one.
  19. Supercape remained in his Superlab costume, with concealed face. It was much the same as his regular hero costume, except his cape was replaced by a pristine white lab coat that sparkled slightly. Goodness me he murmured, trying to compose himself. Etain... He had, as Professor Quill, only recently defeated an ancient evil under Freedom City with Etain, and now he was meeting her again as Supercape. He had half a mind to tell her his secret Identity, but the less people knew the better. It was going to be damn hard however. Arriving on ground level, he adjusted his lab coat, wishing he had a bow tie to adjust. Seeing Etain, he walked towards her as confidently as he could muster, and waved a greeting. No Latin he reminded himself. "Good morning" he remarked, holding out his hand. "Supercape, one of the Laboratory heroes. Pleased to make your acquaintance"
  20. OOC for thisthread, should it be needed. Supercape, Dragonfly, and Etain at the Lab.
  21. 6th December. Hanover District (The Lab) Supercape was busy underground, playing with the particle accelerator, when his PDA started beeping. Blast and Damnation he cursed, powering down the fusion reactor. He mopped his brow, and cursed again. Fine tuning the collisions was a sensitive, delicate process that required immense concentration. And all his senses - not just the human ones. The slightest distraction and... He really should have put it on silent. He had been so close to seeing if his theory on type III gravity was true... So what was all this fuss about? He looked at his PDA. Another student from Claremont! damnation! Well, it kept the Lab in business, and it was often quite fun, teaching. He glanced down at the name, and took an involuntary gasp at the name...
  22. Bruise for Cannonade then - not bad, as you say!
  23. Slick entered the box alone, again. God this was melancholy he thought to himself why did I do this? emotional masochism, that's why. German Opera. Was there anything in the world more likely to evoke memories of his past, his upbringing, his father? All it needed was a bunch of mad nazi scientists to march on stage with a barrel of petroleum. He sighed. He was still enjoying the Opera, of course, but he felt emotionally exhausted.
  24. 1d20+2=22 [For reflex roll] Amazingly, Supercape actually has the presence of mind to swish out of their reach. Given the masses of them (250!) he is going to have to seriously consider either an EM Pulse (Visual and Radio dazzle burst), A Radioactive Explosion (Damage Burst), or a Contagious Nauseate (Irradiation). He certainly isn't going to damage any bystanders (or, probably, any fellow heroes) So what's the collateral here? Also, are the squidlings touching enough to be nauseated contagious?
  25. "Mr. Slick" replied Slick. "Or, Slick. Forget the mister. Not really appropriate, seeing as I don't have a gender, so to speak". "Hmmm, cool down in a suit you say. Well, as long as its temporary. I am in your hands, doctor. Of course, it will be hard to cool down in the hands of such a charming handsome doctor as yourself, but I shall do my best!" Damn, I can't wink! he cursed to himself.
